My family has come here for a few years now, and it's always been an okay experience. The receptionist is our least favorite part because she has a pretty bad attitude, but everyone else is exceptionally great. In January they started a new policy that if you miss an appointment it is a $75 fee ( that's more than our dentist... so it seems crazy ) they sent out a one week reminder, and they use to send out a reminder the day before additionally. The kids ended up having a random snow day added on and we got all our dates mixed up, ended up showing up a day later at the right time. They ended up billing us the fee despite having the time open the next day. I know it was my fault, it just seemed strange that they stopped the reminders the day before and started this fee.... Like it was intentional. We live in a low income area, so this fee, is this economy is huge. We switched to a new place, no fees, they send out multiple reminders, actually tell us when our glasses/contacts are delivered ( unlike these guys ), and the receptionist is a peach. Amazing vision and eye exam! I was a little concerned by previous reviews going in, but I went in with a neutral stance. I remember someone telling me that people are more likely to complain about a bad experience than compliment a good one. I was seen first by Eileen who did my testing, the dreaded puff test, colorblind check and retina scan. She was kind, patient, and that part flowed really well, she asked about my medical history and any problems that I might have had with my vision currently. 5 stars for Eileen for laughing at my 'dad jokes' that I'm sure she hears every day, lol. Dr. Ma's exam was next. VERY thorough, unrushed, and detailed. She answered all my questions was very supportive when I freaked out over the word "bifocal" then delicately switched to "progressive ". She went over all my results gave her recommendations and even made suggestions on getting a second pair of glasses for work (on the computer) so I don't get neck strain adjusting my head for the "progressive " lenses. I felt so comfortable after this visit I recommended them to my husband and daughter. Also, shout out to the front desk person, sorry I didn't catch her name. But she was efficient in helping 3 of us at the same time with kindness and a genuine smile. read more

Ok, So i read all the bad 1 star 2 star reviews and was skeptical just as many would be. I had an appointment today at 3pm. Here is what i experienced!! Everyone I encountered was amazingly nice, Professional and treated me respectfully and kindly. The front desk was very pleasant!! Even multitasking to be sure I was checked in quickly! Then Irene took me to the 1st series of tests. So incredibly Professional, Upbeat and just sweet as she could be!! Then Dr. Moah? Sorry for the spelling. Again as sweet as anyone could ask! Very thorough, very precise in her explanations, professional and what else could anyone want. She answered all my questions! I left a happy camper. all the negative horrible reviews were not what I experienced. I guess Dr Jaffee, was amazing, seems like there was some trouble after he passed away but, things are much different. This is a home grown business and excellent customer service!! Now, yes are there hidden costs with glasses, always is, but if you or anyone has a question, ASK!! They will answer the best they can. that's all you can ask. so in closing, no I'm not a plant, lol I'm just the average customer and this place is amazing in their care. Don't be frightened off by the negative reviews. Pretty bad event for a company to lose their main peep. Give them a chance, you're going to be very happy you did!!! read more

This is the worst vision clinic I have ever been to. They double charged me for the fee to avoid having my pupils dilated because I needed to drive home. There is one nice receptionist, but the other one is rude and unfriendly. When I asked about what my insurance would cover, the rude receptionist said they would not look into it and only look into after I decided whether I wanted glasses or contacts. She also pressured me to get both so I would end up paying more out of pocket. After the eye exam, they didn't want provide me the contact lens prescription and said that if I wanted to order contacts, I would have to call them and place the order through them, so they could charge me more. I do not recommend this place, as they try scamming you for more money. Will never be back. read more

I've been going to Renton Vision Clinic in Renton, for a few years, and it always seemed to be a decent enough business. But then my eye doctor left, and I had to find another. So, I was 'assigned' to Dr. Mau. She seemed to be okay. After my eye exam she prescribed some eye drops that were to help with some problem I have (I can't remember what she said it was). Unfortunately, I had to stop using the eye drops because they were making my eyes feel really dry and the bottoms of my eyelids were red. So, I called (numerous times) to see if Dr. Mau could prescribe different eye drops, or even the medicated eye wipes she mentioned at my exam. I have had the WORST time trying to get this message through to the doctor. I swear, I felt like I was being given the run-around. Plus, I swear the lady at the front desk didn't *understand* English. I explain to her that I would like someone to call me back TODAY after speaking with Dr. Mau. That I was sick of being given the run-around. So, eventually what it boils down to, there are no other eye drops to help with whatever is wrong with my eyes. And the medicated wipes? $45! that's ridiculous. There was no way in hell I was paying that much for eye wipes. So as of today, (not that they care, obviously) they've lost me as a patient. I'm so sick of incompetent, unprofessional businesses. read more

Ordered glasses here. Tried to cancel the order and was too late. Over priced, you're better off elsewhere.

I scheduled an annual eye checkup with them. When I walked in the office yesterday I was given the form to sign: 1. Eye dilution, it's free, 2. Pay a fee for digital check, without dilution 3. Decline. I told them I wish when I scheduled the checkup, I'd like to be advised the options and be prepared. ( if do the dilution, cannot drive within 4 hours). Then the front desk and the doctor were not happy, said I am not a new patient, and I can decline. I felt they are rude. Although later they offered me to do the digital checkup free of charge, but I didn't take it and walked away. I'd like they have the right attitude to their patients. My last checkup with them was 2 years ago, now I am leaving them. read more

Thanks to my relatively new vision insurance and my decided-upon location, I plopped into this place to update my eyeglass prescription. Now unlike my regular 6-month eye doctor since I was "weee" tall, Steve seems very interested and likes explaining [detailed] answers to questions. I was never interested in asking many questions to MY eye doctor, but him I felt like I could ask anything and he'd provide great explanations. My left eye has a history of conditions and I think I shared them all for the first time.... ever. He knows the folks over at NW Eye Associates and recommends I stay with them. Great guy to talk to and they seem to stick with the latest equipment. read more

I went here a year ago or so when I didn't have my glasses and ran out of contacts. They were able to get me in within an hour for an eye exam and gave a me a pair of contacts to wear until my order of lenses came in. The staff is pleasant and efficient. Seriously recommend if you're in the Renton area. read more

Don't go there! Over priced, unprofessional. We had been going to this business for more than 35 years and after Dr Jaffe passed away the business has steadily imploded. The front office is arrogant, the nurse is in need of professional help. We have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars at this business between exams and purchases of glasses and it is hard to compose this scathing evaluation ! read more

I am only offering a second star because one of the front desk staff saved us from walking out entirely. 1. I called and left a message requesting a call back to schedule my son for his first eye exam. I did not receive a call back. 2. Deciding to give them benefit of the doubt I tried them again. The woman was less than friendly while taking my information. 3. We walked in for our appointment, I approached the counter and was not greeted by the woman sitting at the counter. We stood there awkwardly until another receptionist (who saved this review) came out and around the counter to address us. 4. They didn't have my insurance information prepared and proceeded to ask me the same half dozen questions I answered while scheduling the appointment. 5. The said receptionist performed the initial exam on my son and was terrific. There was a short wait for the Doctor - he was pleasant and descriptive during the examination. Doctor, if you read this, please give your reception staff a 101 on customer service. read more

Dr. Jaffe Steven's is an awesome optometrist. I started going to him since I was in elementary school and I am now 29 years old. A couple years ago I couldn't afford medical insurance so I had to cancel my insurance and started going to America's Best at Southcenter. I HATED america's best because they always seemed to not know what they are doing or they just don't care. You get what you pay for! When I finally got insurance I went back to Dr. Jaffe Steven's. I can't believe he remembered me and my mom after all these years! Dr. Steven's is always patient, caring, and very professional. Once you find a great eye doctor, it's always hard to not go back :) The staff is really friendly too. read more

Poor service. Miss leading insurance informations. I end up paying almost $200 after insurance paid. And I wonder if my daughter have the correct prescription for her glasses. The exam went so fast that I would questions on that. They don't know how check what is cover and what not. If you going there do not sign the financial policy. Do not bring your kids there, that told me they accept small kids. But after the exams Ana told me she not specialized in kids exam and she had told the front desk about that. They want me to make another appointment with someone else at a different clinic. I pay $88.70 on the day of exam.A I get the bill for $10310 from them I talk to Shannon Ganbari. She pull the financial policy out and say i have to pay because The insurance is denied the claim for the frame. I had clearly ask her to check insurance on the day of exam. And the insurance details which I insist to see clearly say not eligible. Obviously she didn't check on that day. Luckily I haven't scheduled me or anyone else in the family to this clinic. read more

Spent way too much (500.00) a pair for contacts that were oversized, uncomfortable, and RX was wrong in right eye. Also seemed to milk insurance for multiple visits that subsequent Opthamologist did not concur with. read more

We started going to Renton Vision Clinic in 2013. Dr. Jaffe and the staff were very helpful and listened to our concerns. In late 2015 or early 2016 the new Dr. took over and this place is definitely not the same. The front staff scheduled me for an appointment for THANKSGIVING DAY. They mixed up scheduling on several occasions, they were trying too hard to push other services and when I went in last time for a vision test they made some multi focal glasses for me that were not correct. I told them the glasses were not at the right focal points for close and far away and they said I wasn't use to them and I needed to get use to them. I told them I didn't want mulit focal in the first place and I only needed the glasses for reading. The Dr. insisted I needed them and I would become use to them. I replied I wanted single focus lenses and they begrudgingly made them for me. I tried a new clinic a few weeks ago and the Dr. there said if I was ok with taking them off and putting them on, then single focus was fine and when i was ready for mulit focal glasses, then we'd talk. They didn't push me to immediately get a new pair of glasses. They listened to me and once I had that experience again, I decided to move to a different clinic and away from Renton Vision. I do not recommend Renton Vision until they have a major change of listening to their patients. read more

Really like the Doctor but not too crazy about the front office staff. They can be unfriendly and show their annoyance when there are issues with insurance or your glasses, etc. I had trouble with getting my glasses to feel comfortable so had to come in a few times to get them re-adjusted, and they looked at me with expressions like "oh it's you again." Also, the way they talk to Doctor can be so rude. I don't think they realize there are patients sitting in the waiting room who can hear them. Also had some problems with the bill for a service that should be have been paid for by insurance. I called the office to ask about it and the woman on the phone was very short with me and said I needed to pay the bill. I called my insurance and it turned out there was a mistake and I didn't need to pay. I also had trouble with the glasses I ordered... couldn't see right with them. The doctor checked my prescription and it was correct, but there was something wrong with the lenses from the lab. The office sent it back to the lab but they didn't measure the optical center correctly to account for my glasses being worn low on my nose. Because the optical center was off, my vision was blurred. Had to lift up my glasses to see clearly. I got fed up with the poor quality of the glasses and service that I went to Costco to get a new pair, which was a lot cheaper, and I can see thru them and no problem with the lens or frame and the optical center was correct. I went to this doctor for years but I think I'm fed up with the service of his front office staff so I'll be finding a new doctor. read more

Dr. Jaffe was great, new doctor that took over (Dr. Nasim Javaheri) is terrible and just trying to sell as many services and eyewear as possible. They schedule appointments for me without my consent and then send me reminders for them. Front staff was unfriendly. I will never go back here. read more

DON'T BUY GLASSES HERE! (This is the same business as Image Eyewear in Renton.) The product was grossly overpriced and included hidden, undisclosed charges. This was my first pair of glasses and I was not aware of how much glasses normally cost. After ordering glasses on a Friday morning, I called at 11:30 AM and asked for an itemized list since the price seemed very high ($400 was my share after insurance). The office took until 30 minutes before closing at 5 to fax me the itemized list, which included "upgrade" charges that I had not been informed of in the purchasing process. Specifically, the office never disclosed that polycarbonate lenses would cost another ~$130. With the small amount of time to research the cost of the glasses, I called around and found the same glasses for $160 total at Costco--I'm sure other places would have been comprable, nowhere near the outrageous price at Image EyeWear. In fact, the glasses from Image EyeWear cost somewhere around $550 total (my insurance paid about $150). I called a few minutes after 5 PM to cancel the glasses order and left a message -- the business was closed at this time. I called back first thing Monday morning and the office said that the glasses had already been made over the weekend and I could not get my money back. They did offer to give me just the lenses and refund the frame prices, but that is of course a small fraction of the cost, and I'd have to find someone to fit the lenses to frames in any case. This does not seem to be a fair solution. Essentially this business took advantage of someone who had never undertaken this process before. Buyer beware!! DON'T BUY GLASSES HERE!! P.S. The BBB also has a C- rating of this business with multiple unresolved complaints. Stay away!! read more
