Avoid this place! I rented a car for 3 months (Jan-Apr '25). The car was a bit of a wreck to start with. The front end was slightly disconnected and there were lots of "dings". Most of their cars have seen better days. I incurred NO damage while I had the car. Today (9 days after returning the car), my credit card was charged $1247 for damage repair! We rented a car with Renty and when we got the car it had dents and scratches everywhere, a ding in the windshield and smelled horrible like old smoke. The seats were also really stained. Got on the road and I received an alert on the dash that AT Oil Temp (looked it up online and said you had to pull over immediately because the transmission is overheating). Pulled over to let the car rest and called the front desk was told that the dash alert was false and that the mechanic said it was ok and not to worry. However on my way back home it overheated again while I was alone, in the mountains with no reception. Again stopped to let it cool down and was able to continue but drove all the way home at 55mph terrified and then another alert light came on the dash and stayed there for a day till I dropped it off. It was a tire pressure light that I had to keep pull off the freeway to check to see if the tires were ok or not. So unsafe and not worth the money you save by renting here. read more

Closer to a 2.5 than a 3 star rating. Every time I came here there was a long wait. Some of the workers could use customer service training, mainly the women. The two men that were working up front whenever I came in for the past three months have been on point and know how to check in on a customer while there is a long wait. One woman in particular has terrible customer service skills and does not do well under pressure; she would get impatient with people that came in and definitely needed help. Aside from understaffing/letting employees go too early in the day (usually there's only one employee left at the last hour, and all the other employees are still there but off the clock), I would say that it's a decent company. Their cars are a bit dingy and not as clean/well kept as bigger rental companies, but they ARE a budget rental company, you get what you pay for. I rented a 2014 Prius C for 12 weeks and after all the fees and taxes, it came out to $1997.99. The car seats were dirty, had a weird smell, and there were dents and dings all over, but it did the job. It's also very hard to find a hybrid car to rent these days, so that was a major bonus to me. During my time renting the car, I had to bring it in once to get it's routine service done. I do appreciate them letting me drop it off to avoid going over the mileage allowance, but I had to come back a few days after picking up the car to pick up the new registration sticker. Wish they would have told me that was coming in so I could have just picked it up at the same time, since Clairemont is a bit out of my way and I had to spend more miles and gas picking up the sticker. The first day I picked up my car I was told that they could accommodate me with a Lyft ride to pick me up at Enterprise so I could drop off my old rental. I tried telling the woman who was helping me during the paperwork process so she could schedule one as we waited, but she insisted on waiting until after the paperwork was done. Lo and behold, by the time the paperwork was done they were closing and she couldn't schedule the Lyft on the company phone. However, the gentleman that was helping her said he could reimburse me for whatever I paid for my Lyft if I e-mailed them a screenshot. That was thoughtful, however I never received my reimbursement. Overall, I would recommend renting from Renty, just be prepared to wait and always have open communication with the employees. If you just follow their guidelines that are posted everywhere and be mindful of your miles and service dates, it's a good way to save money. read more

This story is one of those that you might not believe but trust me when I tell you that I was so HAD by this company that is hard for me to even believe it today. I crashed my car and needed a rental for somewhere between 10 and 30 days and I did not have insurance covering the rental so I looked for the cheapest deal in town. Age old adage you get what you pay for except one never expects to be ripped off by a car rental company. First, let me tell you that I rented a 2014 Toyota Yaris from this company. This was the definition of a beater. They videoed this car and took about 20 pictures of the condition of the car inside and out including the cigarette holes and stains on all seats. I was not expecting something right off the showroom, but I did assume that the fenders would stay intact and that every time I started to put the brakes on there would not be a screeching noise so after a couple days of this, I took this car back to them and asked them to fix these items of which they said they would if I brought it back after the weekend so I said, what I would like to do is leave it here right now you give me another car and you can get it fixed. Well, they couldn't do that. They didn't have a car to rent to me in my price range which was $19.99 a day. They did tell me that I could bring it in the following Monday and they would would fix the flaring fender and check the brakes out. They quoted approximately 1 hour. So again I asked if they were going to give me transportation while they worked on THEIR car and the answer was no. I asked them if they didn't see it as ironic that I would rent a car while my car was being fixed so that I could go down and sit in their car shop and wait for their car to get fixed. This did not seem to be of any concern to them. It was basically that or nothing so I chose nothing because I'll be damned if I was going to wait to have a rental car fixed so moving on I had contracted to have the car for 28 days. I retuned the car after nineteen days and asked how they were going to reimburse me 8 days of rental fees which I calculated to be roughly $160 based on the &19.99 per day on my contract. They explained that although I paid $529 for the entire time they could not refund any money because their regular rate would be at the full price of $35 a day therefore they didn't owe me any money because based on their $35 a day rate I had already used $700 worth daily fees. Let's never mind the fact that I rented this car @ $19.99. A day all of a sudden the rental fee was $35. This company is so awful that I beg you don't do any kind of business with them. I am going to file a small claims action against them tomorrow. These companies need to have the whistle blow on them. They are crooks. read more

So I call Renty and speak to a nice guy, he explains the pricing for the different vehicle options, everything sounds good so I decide to make a same day reservation and I'm told i have to pay 169.99 which is the weekly rate for the car I want so that I can reserve my car. I say fine,give my card info, all good no issues. They charge my card no problem. When I arrive at the store I give them my license and credit card I'll be paying with, the card they've already charged once now! A few mins later im told they can't take the credit card im trying to use so I hand them another and they say they can take it so im like whatever fine. They refund me back the money they already took from me so I won't see that money for another day or 2 or 3. I let them know that I wasn't expecting to have to pay the weekly fee AGAIN and I won't have enough on my card to pay for that again, plus the 300 deposit, plus the insurance cost cause oh yea they don't take my insurance either. And long story short, the whole experience was an fling nightmare and ultimately I didn't leave with a car, they charged my other card for the weekly fee and deposit and had to refund that as well because it was a whole shit show with the insurance and mind you the guy I was dealing with didn't speak English all that well so I know a lot of what I was explaining wasn't registering with him. What I don't get is how come they could charge my card and get the money from it but them claim they couldn't use it? Make it make sense please! Renty was garbage. read more

I was looking for a quick inexpensive rental for a day or two while my car was in the shop. I called this place they said they could rent a car to me for $32 a day. When I arrive, there's one other customer in the shop and two employees. After filling out the paperwork, the employee helping me says he has 3 cars for me to choose from we go outside to see them and he can't find any of them, back inside, never mind we only have one car at that price, we look at the car, and then he says never mind, this one isn't good enough for me to rent. I was there for an hour and a half and just left. We asked why it was taking so long, they said they were short staffed. Even though there was more staff than customers. No apology. Sketchy. Don't recommend. For a fraction more a day, go to Enterprise. read more

I would rate this place at 4.5 stars, but that was not an option so I went with 5 stars. I've rented several cars from Renty over the past half year. The rental process was smooth and straightforward and there were no surprises. I drove these cars up and down the California coast and all the cars performed well. The cars were not new, all the ones I rented had 150,000 or more miles. But none of the cars gave me any trouble. Basically, everything worked as it should. And the prices were low. $600 to $700 per month (including taxes and fees) depending on which car I chose, mileage limit, etc. So if you're looking for inexpensive reliable transportation, give these guys a try. Also, they have these cool-looking large massage chairs in their office. I didn't try them, but they looked very comfortable if you have to wait. Renting a car from here is probably the hardest thing ever. They treat you like you're a broke criminal with bad credit. Like you are in the hood or something. Rented a car previously & asked if I need my ID. They said it's required to make sure it's still valid. Well, I know they have a copy & can see the expiration date. Just being difficult as the first time I rented. I have enough money to possibly purchase their entire lot & a credit score of 781 with ZERO tickets or accidents & renting a crappy vehicle from them is like pulling teeth. My last experience is with the car itself... The vehicle was trash. Period. And it stunk to high hell as if someone was living in it with a wet dog. 3 cans of Ozone spray could not mask the foul odor. It was nauseating & made me sick. Was the only place I could find open during Covid. Since I've been here once before I thought I'd give it another go since they have my info on file & hopefully it'd be a breeze this time around. Nope. Very not welcoming & resistant as before. I guess they don't want to rent a vehicle anybody. I'll go to real rental place & get a decent car & a some customer service instead of static. If you are looking to rent a vehicle in San Diego for a VERY affordable price, then this is a great place to do so! I rented a car from them in June. The car wasn't brand-new (nor did I expect it to be‼), but I just wanted something reliable that drove from Point A to Point B. My rental looked more than decent & was very dependable. I liked how convenient it was to drop-off my rental in their parking lot after business hours too! And I received my deposit back the next day. If you are looking for a car to look flashy in however this may not be the place for you. I subtracted one star because: Every time you rent from them, you have to pay extra for a credit check which I am totally fine with. However even if you rented a car from them a wk ago - you still have to pay for another credit check to obtain a rental. Also, I had reserved a rental using their online reservation system but when I called to confirm if the vehicle was available, the agent told me the reservation never went through. Finally, the rental car market was pretty much saturated in July (not their fault) + I was told to keep calling to see if they had any available rentals. The person who was answering the phones sounded a bit annoyed when I called multiple times. All in all, a great place to goif you are looking for an affordable rental car solution!! read more
