(PLEASE CONTINUE TO READ entire article) The lateral force of the wind and rain drove the water under our 3rd level deck and into the master bedroom. The volume was so great it leaked to the kitchen below. My daughter and I hauled every bucket we could find and placed them wherever water was dropping. My son who is a construction contractor in Seattle saw our videos and said, "Mom, get a sharp object and start poking holes in the ceiling of the kitchen ceiling to relieve the pressure or whole thing could drop down on you." We did it and unbelievable amounts of water fell into those buckets. After two hours I went online and looked up "Water Intrusion". Rescue One popped up along with others but we chose to call them. Their answering service took our call and gave us an arrival time for their employees. Approx. a four hour wait. We carried on until Paul and his assistant showed up we looked like two wet rats from a Halloween Party. They stepped in and started arresting the source which meant going on the roof. They were in and out for three days. They brought in some kind of 'sucking machines' which pulled the latent water between floors into containers which dumped that water outside. Kudos to Paul, his assistants and Rescue One Restoration. They are the real deal guys! Eventually repairs were completed which involved electrical outages with dishwasher, stove and light fixtures. They are like my uncles and cousin cuz they treat you with politeness and care. I had gone out before 6:39 a.m. to buy some sliders to help with the move in of our wrapped and stored bigger furniture. They listened very carefully to my requests of putting the "no rush to open" boxes in one area of the room. Hubs broken record of don't buy anymore furniture(how bossy)...so...the men moved the lighter colored furniture to the extension where I watch my Kdrama and the brown pieces to hiis tv room aka tinier wannabe man cave. They removed all trash with them and are professional in everything they do. Nimblest, strongest, gentle employees, all 3 of them. How such svelte men could lift, push, bend to get the furniture to their old stomping ground is beyond me. Whoever does the hiring of personnel is excellent. Thanks to Servpro and Perfection Flooring about 3 pm a plumbing coordinator came to our front door. She said I've been to many houses, this is a nice house as she entered. At least they were kind enough to get some of the chrome frame polishing done so as to not waste that initial work day. My deepest appreciation for a job well done.

I found this company through Yelp and Christian quickly reached out to me. He was extremely professional, communicating clearly and always arrived on time like he had conveyed. He moved our (heavy) appliances and furniture out of the way to get his fans set up to start drying out the walls. He stopped by every day to check in on the walls and once things were looking good, he moved our appliances and furniture back where they were. Christian was quick, efficient, and helpful. This was the third time we've had this happen and without a doubt, he is the best professional we've had wh. Whatever he's charging is well worth it! Side note, we only had pictures of the water bubble but he also patched up and repainted the spots he needed to open up for the fans to dry inside of the wall.

I had several issues with this company. Do not waste your time or money…read more Context: We need to repaint our home due to HOA requirements, and I reached out to 9 contractors across Oahu, including Handy Andy. 1/ They were the ONLY ones to charge a fee for an "on-site visit," i.e., just viewing our property and drafting an estimate. The charge was $175 and was "applied as credit" for the job; otherwise, if we don't move forward with them, it would be non-refundable, which is already a scam because of problem number 2. 2/ Between the 9 contractors, the quotes for the SAME painting job of our house I received were between the range of $6100 to $7800 AND exactly one at $16,073. Handy Andy quoted nearly DOUBLE what every single licensed painting contractor and company I reached out to is charging as of 2026. They articulated in their quote that they would try and price match any licensed contractor, but why would we trust them when they are so far from the average, and they are not transparent about what paint they're using, which would help us discern the quality? (see number 4) So now they keep the $175 for stopping by our house for 10 minutes, because there would be no way we would go with them after doing our research. I will note that I understand gas can be expensive, so I would not have minded paying a smaller fee for the trip to subsidize that cost, despite no one else charging us, but there is no way it cost $175 to send their intern (see item number 5). 3/ Every single contractor except for Handy Andy included minor wood repairs, chips, etc within the total cost, still not exceeding $8000, which was not the case and came at an additional cost to us. 4/ Every single contractor, within their quote, provided the exact paint they were planning to use, which helped us discern the quality of paint (For reference, the highest tier, the Ultra Premium option from Sherwin-Williams Rain Refresh, was quoted at $7400 in total for us), but Handy Andy did not include this information in their quote which would directly help us understand the value of what we are paying for. 5/ For the onsite visit (which they had to postpone for the following day after I had already changed my plans to accommodate their timing), every single company/contractor I called, the person who was either going to paint the house, owned the company or be part of the team that was going to paint showed up... except for Handy Andy. This young individual showed up to do the assessment. He said he was their scout and would not do any part of the actual paint and repair job. I asked him basic questions about priming and caulking, and brought up questions and concerns, particularly moisture treating, because Oahu is obviously very hot and humid, and he was unable to answer, often saying, "I'm not sure I know what that is, but I will get back to you." Considering I paid $175 for this individual, I would expect him to know the basic requirements of homes here. Overall, my husband and I are very upset that we spent $175 just to get a quote that was double the going rate on the island, and we feel like we were scammed. Don't waste your time!

On June 8, 2026 I started installation of new flooring with Abbey Carpet and Floor in my hallways…read moreand 2 bathrooms. Upon removing the guest bathroom toilet, the plumber found water leaking from the toilet wax ring. Upon removing the old paradigm flooring, installers found old flooring to be wet underneath and moisture leading down the hallway. Matt Wagner of Abbey Carpet was notified as all work stopped due to possibility of mold and mildew. Matt immediately called Premier Restoration Hawaii and Ryker Hyde came within hours. Ryker checked the complete area in the bathroom and hallway with his moisture reader and infrared imaging function and found no visible moisture or signs of mold or mildew and floor installation was able to continue 2 days later. Whew!!! Ryker advised spaying a preventative microbial application around the toilet wax ring as a precautionary measure before new flooring is installed. Ryker was so professional and thorough in checking and explaining everything to me, a senior who knows very little about plumbing. Ryker was so caring and helpful and did not charge anything for his inspection and work that day. Wonderful!!! I highly recommend Premier Restoration Hawaii and Ryker Hyde to anyone who faces a type of restoration problems. They are wonderful!!!
