Last Friday, I booked a classic facial with Livia and loved every minute of it! I arrived too early for my appt and was greeted by Leigh (Lee?) who was very helpful and squeezed me in for a pedicure with Tina while I waited. This service was amazing and relaxing - just what I needed after a morning train ride to the city. The facial itself was great! The room was very calming and I hadn't gotten a facial in forever, but Livia made me very welcome and at ease, talking me through each step to ensure I was comfortable. I wanted to love my experience so much but it left something to be desired. My friend and I booked facials, I was with Irina and my friend was with Dorothy. Irina was lovely and had a wonderful touch but she didn't focus on my concern which was congestion on the lower part of my face. I told her to do whatever she had to do to get the extractions done, even if that meant cutting other parts of the treatment short, but examining my skin afterwards there was so much congestion left behind. Also, I would've expected some massage during the mask portion but she just sat in the room while the mask dried. My friend enjoyed her treatment with Dorothy and said she was very thorough with her treatment and she loved her experience. Checking out was a little strange because they seemed a bit unorganized. I was looking for products on the shelves when they advised me Irina left me products to look at but the recommendations were no where to be found, so I went back to the shelves to find what I needed. As a licensed Esthetician of 12 years I like to go and treat myself from time to time as opposed to having to do my own facial, but I've yet to find an Esthetician who performs thorough extractions, which is really what people are paying for in a treatment. I went home afterwards and did my own extractions for about 15minutes to clear out the congestion that was still under the surface of my skin. I thought rescue spa would be the place for me since it has such an amazing reputation but it was a dud. They're getting a lot of recognition for their treatments in the press but I think what we fail to realize is that the people being sent by PR for these treatments are seeing the owner and lead Esthetician, who of course are going to give a stellar treatment for the equally stellar review but who actually cost $450+ to book an appointment with, which I could pay but why should I have to? I gave it 3 stars for having such a beautiful space and for carrying Biologique Recherche products, which are absolutely amazing, but I wouldn't purchase in-store again as the 4 different nyc sales taxes added $40 onto my tab. I'll stick to purchasing my products online to be delivered to my home where I don't have that tax issue. If I were to return it would be to see Dorothy since my friend had a great experience with her. read more

This place is beautiful. Came for a facial - have hormonal cystic acne and Aga was amazing. Super careful and thoughtful about how she was going to treat me. We will see how my skin is in a few days (I'm sure it will get worse before it gets better) but I felt like I was in good hands. Don't understand the comments about the staff being rude- everyone was beyond lovely to me. Ended up dropping over $300 on products. Whoops. The apothecary in the front with candles and perfume is to die for. I will certainly be coming back! read more

The spa is very clean, great service, very professional. My esthetician, Shantelle, was however very very aggressive on my skin. I was breaking out on my chin and I specifically told her to be careful - which she clearly ignored. I am left with two very infected cysts on my chin which will take months to heal, so I am mortified. It is a week past the facial and a lot of the extractions have turned into cystic pimples. I really wish they would ask before being so aggressive on you - it is the holiday season and I'm hiding under layers of foundation. It's always a gamble finding the right facial person and trying out some one new, especially with acne prone skin. I will definitely not return. People with sensitive or acne prone skin, please beware. read more

I've had 5 facials here in the last 18 months and I am a convert forever. This spa and its products has changed my skin for the first time in my life. I just so happened to go to Rescue Spa on a weekend and luckily enough for me I met LOLA!!! She is the best makeup artist I've ever worked with. I really strongly recommend that you do NOT go here for makeup. I hate to leave a bad review because Lola is a nice person but she talks big game and does NOT deliver. I think the people who have left good reviews for her here are not used to good makeup. I walked out looking like a 40 year old drag queen, nothing was blended, somehow my face looked completely the wrong colour and too powdery. I asked for a look that was dewy, with a brown Smokey eye and I even showed her a reference picture. I got the exact opposite and she didn't want me to see my face during the application process. I was stupid to blindly trust her.I had to go home and literally wipe it ALL off and do my own makeup for my bday party which was in two hours. I was devastated to say the least and I had spent $180 including tip. I emailed the spa and they responded and said I would get a full refund (I also included pictures of the mess that I looked). I think it's important that I leave an honest review here because I was really misled by the good reviews and I thought i couldn't go astray since it's an upscale place. My other mistake was that I did not see the one picture that has been posted in another review - that makeup is hideous. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place for makeup!!!! read more

Going to Rescue Spa is a treat! I look forward to it for weeks before my appointment. I have tried the microderm and the Bio Lift facials by Jolanta. She is very calm and has such great energy. She also introduced me to Lotion P50 which has changed my skin forever. It has made my skin smooth, allows it to absorb more of the products I use and has completely gotten rid of my adult acne. With her years of experience I can ask her questions about my skin and she always has answers or recommendations but never pushes any products on me. Sometimes hype is real in New York. Other times you spent $150 on a facial and you aren't sure why. I had a facial with Renata and found it to be very underwhelming. She didn't want to answer my questions about what products I could use. She had no tips for what to do after the facial. It all seemed pretty standard except for the way they lightly hit your face during the facial. My skin didn't look any different and I'm now left with more hyperpigmentation from the extractions. read more

My girlfriend recommended me to come to the Rescue Spa. She has been a loyal client of Angelina's and was highly recommending her. I have been struggling for many years with acne and oily skin and have not been successful in treating my condition with any products nor services out there. So I made an appointment for a classic facial to start off and after Angelina analyzed my skin type and problem, she offered me some custom treatment that apparently proved to be very helpful. I was very impressed by her knowledge and professionalism and also the way she introduced me to the whole line of products that should be used for my skin issues. At the end of the treatment Angelina recommended a new regiment, which I keep following and I am so happy to see the big improvements in my skin already! Also, she even offered me to correct my eyebrows shape which i agreed to and I am very happy with the way it emphasizes my face features. The Rescue spa is the perfect name for this oasis in the busy city. I went there for a manicure/pedicure, facial and blow out and left feeling refreshed, relaxed and like I spent a whole day getting pampered. It really was my rescue! The spa itself is impeccable and every detail is looked after. The staff is so kind and made me feel more comfortable than I could imagine! No products were ever pushed on me like in all the other spas I visited and when I was leaving the spa the checkout process was super easy. I cannot wait to go back!! I went to Rescue Spa this weekend with high hopes for a relaxing afternoon. Unfortunately I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. As someone that spends time and money on spa treatments, I know what to expect when an institution charges $200  (plus tip) for a facial. For starters, the check-in process was a disaster. I was basically ignored for 15 minutes even though it was time for my treatment to start. Someone came over after a while to check us in and 10 minutes later we found out the person never checked us in. Ultimately my session started grossly late (to no fault of my own), yet surprisingly it ended on time. Actual facial time was closer to 35 minutes, not the 60 minutes I had booked. My introduction to the therapist started with her trying to sell me a slew of products that I may or may not have needed. The point is, she couldn't know as she hadn't touched my face yet, a fact I pointed out to her. The treatment itself was ok, though there is no question that it was rushed and NOT done properly. Extra add-on treatments were pushed, and even tried, though I have no idea what the beneficial properties of LED lighting to my face might be; as said benefits weren't explained very well. While Led lighting was shining on my face I was ignored for 10 minutes of it (no massage). Once the facial was done, I was rushed by a suddenly attentive staff to "Check-out". It seems that the check-out "experience" is to push more products on you, though the staff really did not know what or why they were selling..... I asked for someone to give me more details on a line and they said they'll have to grab someone that can explain to me. I waited around 15 minutes for that someone who never arrived, while there is a full staff standing around chatting and laughing with each other. Oh! and of course "Would you like to tip with cash or use Venmo?".  I was later told by a friend that there is a lounge for clients to enjoy at Rescue Spa, however, I cannot confirm this as I was never offered the option of even seeing it, let alone experience it. Overall it felt like a rushed, commercial facial of mediocre skill, using decent facial products. I would recommend that you spend your money elsewhere at a real spa and not at Rescue Spa. At least not until someone comes along and rescues the spa. The only reason they are getting one star is the decor. read more

The most incredible experience! I went for the basic facial for $150, but it was anything but basic - my esthetician was knowledgeable, patient and a pro at giving a facial (I don't have a great knowledge of skin or skincare products, but she was more than happy to help with explanations). I was so relaxed I dozed off for a little bit! I see some comments here about product pushing, but I was not at all pushed to get products - the samples were enough and if I try them out and like them I will definitely purchase next time. The facials and BR products are EVERYTHING (especially the P50 1970 ) I must admit this was one of the best facials I've had in my LIFE! To sum this up all I have to say is this place is AMAZING!!!!! once you walk into the spa it LITERALLY feels like your walking in to a Magazine! I had my facial with Tatiana at Rescue Spa this past weekend. She is a nice person, but she was way too rough on my skin, which I had warned her was sensitive. She asked if I wanted microdermabrasion and since I had never done it before and I was traveling the very next day, I declined. After an extremely painful extraction process around my right jaw line, where she left two scars which have now scabbed and look like ice pick scars that won't go away, she pressured me to get complimentary microdermabrasion around the jaw line. She performed this right after extracting and without cleansing that area of my skin. Now I have breakouts all over. I also woke up the next day with a dark bruise under my right eye, which has since faded, and an extremely puffy face. Her massages were not lymphatic drainage: it was so rough I was worried she was going to give me wrinkles under my eyes; she didn't use her fingers to add pressure around certain points, she used her palms roughly around my eyes. I also waited at least until 12:30/12:35 when my appointment was at 12:15. I don't mind waiting at all, it happens; I had actually had to do a last minute cancel for an appointment with someone else at Rescue the previous day. But what bothered me was that the facial was not for a full hour. After I paid at the front desk and Venmo-ed a tip to Tatiana, I realized that it was only 1:36. Given that I now have the worst skin I've ever had after a pricey facial, and a couple of new scars and scabs, I will not be returning to Rescue. Nor will i recommend Tatiana. read more

The experience was fine nothing special. It was my first facial after having a baby. I informed the lead facialist I was nursing and postpartum. The lead facialist seemed knowledgeable until I researched the products she sold me after my skin went haywire. She sold me products that were not for my skin type at all! She also sold me a product that should never be used by a woman who is breastfeeding. When I called to talk to the manager she was extremely rude. She told me someone would call me back and I never heard from them again. read more

I went to rescue because they do biologique recherche facials for way less than Aida Bicaj. Huge mistake! I have no idea what was put on my face because there was a language barrier between me and my aesthetician and I walked out of there with my hair greasy and slick from all the facial products. Two weeks later I am still breaking out like crazy from whatever was used. Huge mistake coming here. If you want BR facials go to Aida Bicaj, they do phenomenal work and explain everything! read more

I was really looking forward in getting a facial here but I ended up with a lot of mix feelings. My thought is if you are going to pay $200 for a facial that claims to be for 60 minutes, how was mine more like 45? Beautiful place but didn't even get to enjoy sitting in the lounge downstairs even thought they had me waiting 15min for the technician, I was early and then they were late. The actual facial... yes good but nothing to rave about, no mask and quick massage while you have the mask like a lot of other fancy spas in the city, let's not forget that you are paying $200 for it! When it was time to pay, I asked for change of a $100 and received all $20's. I always tip 20% but was very unhappy with the assumption, it should be at my discretion. It's very nice but certainly could use an injection of warmth. Too many fabulous spas in NYC to settle for this one. Sorry Rescue! read more

I have gotten the classic facial, bio lift, and the micro derm facials. all have been wonderful. She is stunning so sweet and always fixes me up when I come in. super professional and is very honest about products and services they offer at the salon. never pushes me to buy products but I always buy after the facial as the products are the best and you see results. I wouldn't say to go here if you have a deep rooted acne problem but for glowing and age defying results for sure. read more

I work in the customer service industry and I was "wowed" with my visit today at Rescue Spa. I was greeted upon walking in. I went to purchase the Biologique Recherche 1970 toner, which I heard about through a beauty blogger. The person who assisted me, Shantelle, was very informative of what the product line offered. She did demos and skin tests of the products. I loved that she was knowledgeable​ about skin care and her skin is FLAWLESS!
