I received a gift certificate to here, and based off the reviews decided to book a facial with Prapa. The five stars are for Prapa! She really is the best!! So kind, sweet, and funny! And not just that but she was so professional and super communicative throughout - told me to expect tingling here, etc. And my face was GLOWING. I was overdue for a facial and had a ton of gunk to remove. Prapa managed to not only clean up my face but to also do it in a way that left very little damage and redness. Sorcery! Literally one of the best facials I've had in the city. I plan on seeing her in another few weeks because I am now addicted to how my face looks after her facials. Side note: i wouldn't recommend getting your nails done here though. I had leftover $$ and spent it on a shellac manicure. The technician had terrifying hygiene - she put on what looked like like stained used latex gloves that had holes to handle my nails, and took an open bag of dirty tools out from under the desk. Seeing that, I told her to please not push or cut my cuticles, but she still cut a few anyway. When she buffed my nails, she buffed my skin too. The first time I bled. The second time she blamed it on my facial routine leaving cream on my hands that made my skin "shiny" for this one finger. And then continued to blame me for it for a good minute while I sat there silently not engaging with her unprofessionalism. At the end, she took off her dirty glove and tossed it on top of the rest of her tools instead of the trash...probably to be used for the next guest. Those gloves are disposable honey!!! Okay. As mentioned per my previous review - couldn't ever get in touch with anyone here. I had a GC and kept calling and calling but nope, no one answered. Fast forward- finally made my way here in person and only to find out they're closed!!!! Meanwhile they still have their sign up and everywhere still says they're open. Then website tells you to redeem your gift cards on products on their site since they're closed. Nope!!!! Doesn't work and do they care to help you? Nope!!!! Like not surprised why this place shut down permanently and soon they'll go out of business forever. Their stuff hasn't been popular since the late 90s. Damn this place. Zero stars. I had a SpaFinder gift certificate from work and used it for a facial with Prapa, which was excellent. Aesthetician Prapa was so kind, professional, and she did a really nice job with the massage and Fab Facial plus added on dermabrasion and extractions (I was glad Prapa suggested it)...days later and my skin is still glowing! The environment at Bliss Spa is clean and soothing with peaceful soft music. The amenities like water, snacks, and changing room were lovely. I felt completely relaxed and refreshed for the rest of my day. Highly recommend this spa and especially a facial with Prapa. The products for sale at the front desk are also reasonably priced and work well to maintain great skin, and that spa glow! read more

Came here for a birthday message and the massage was very good. My masseuse got rid of all those knots and asked about preference in pressure. I had a very relaxing time and enjoyable experience. I came on a weekday and had the place to myself during my session which I loved that I got to have a peaceful afternoon. Fantastic! I have oily congested older skin & had the steep clean facial with added microdermabrasion. Paulina was careful yet thorough. BEST FACIAL anywhere, ever. I think it's the last fading days of a once fairly upscale spa and beauty company. I had a gift card someone had given me 8 or 10 years ago, so was happy it hadn't expired. The staff was not very helpful or professional. The spa is on the second floor of a dingy office building in the touristy shopping area of soho. The spa facilities are minimal, most were not in service (sauna and steam?). The locker room is tiny and tired. Seems lackluster and weirdly managed all around. I left Bliss Spa feeling embarrassed and swindled out of money. Over priced. Up-sold every step of the way. Don't go. I went here with my mother and sister as a gift for my mother. Individually we were all up sold for the exact same service. I was told that the Fab Facial would be a waste of money for my skin and that I needed microdermabrasion and a peel for a small extra cost. I went in for my services last and came out first. My mother who felt she needed to opt for the same upsell not only had lotion and a massage on her arms she had it on her feet, calves, and shoulders. I had lotion/a "massage" only to my arms. My services felt rushed and abrupt. When I checked out it was floored at how much extra my ups old services were. Why offer the "Fab Facial" if you are going to tell your customers it isn't going to do anything for them. This is downright rude. read more

This is not the Bliss spa experience that I remember and loved (it's been a few years). While everybody was pleasant nothing stood out as extremely luxurious or wonderful that you would expect from Bliss. This location feels extremely corporate. Like they put it in an office suite. The lounge and showers are closed and nothing on the website indicates that. This is part of the experience that you pay for by going to bliss and so I felt like I was cheated (it's honestly less of a spa vibe than the chain massage envy). I get that the circumstances are precarious but they could at least let customers know, or give a discount because you don't have access to all of those things, which I really needed because of the excess amount of oil that was used that wasn't wiped off. I really needed that shower. My therapist (Nan? - they mentioned her name quickly and so I didn't grab it) was very sweet and gave a decent massage. She didn't ask about how it was going or pressure until the end, and I know I could've said something but generally that's part of the practice. The Oil she used on me was cold which was a shock every time I hit my body. Overall I really just didn't like this experience. I used to go to other Bliss locations regularly when I really wanted to indulge and have an experience, and this certainly wasn't it. where to begin. I spent $265 for a facial that was sub par. I paid extra for the massage part. I have had many many facial worldwide, This was the worst. I did not get a massage ( listed was neck, shoulder, arms, feet, head) I had a quick clean, a extraction than a mask and left for about 30 min alone in the room, no facial massage to get the blood circulating or head massage. My arms and feet given a quick rub with some oil. No massage. Usually you are given a face scrub or steam on your face to get rid of the top layer and than an extraction. I did not get this. At the end the door was open, she tried to sell me more products and I was left to figure out how to get back to the changing room. I was not offered a drink of water which is pretty much the norm. Had to find my way to the exit to pay. Let me mention it was recommended I get Microdermabrasion as my skin was so dry for another $150, I declined, did they think I was going to pay out $415 for a facial. I am still in shock. I've gone to bliss a few times for facials. The spa is located in the busiest part of soho in an office building. The locker room and waiting area have a nice ambiance. The amenities are minimal and underwhelming. I got a full body massage for a whopping $160... all to be rubbed down with CeraVe. For the price point I could've stayed home and had my significant other give me a massage with the CeraVe in our bathroom cupboard. Each time i visit I am underwhelmed with the experience. It's been 1 and a half weeks since I got my shellac manicure and to report back, this is probably the worst quality shellac I've ever gotten. Don't get me wrong, the service was great and the execution was there. It's just the quality of the polish that's pretty bad. I noticed when I arrived that the color selection was pretty low and that I was instructed to pick a color bottle instead of color swatches, which is what I'm used to. 1 and a half weeks later and my polish has been chipping AND almost all nails are able to be peeled off pretty easily, see photo. In the photo, you can tell that 3/4 of the nail was an easy peel off, the last 1/4 was a little forced but at that point I'd rather have the polish off instead of it hanging off my nail. Bliss, please upgrade your nail polishes and equip your nail techs with the right products. read more

I was in for a blissage by Jody and have to admit it was quite Nice but not as High on the mush factor as Maria's ginger rub. However, dont dispair : thé two are on different planes altogether. One very important fact: icy hands do not make for a good masseuse. The snack bar could have been fresher and better stocked but thé tea and citrus infused water were ample. Of course Bliss is still my heart but you have to tighten up service dearest. Enjoyed it all, including thé sauna and steam showers. You should too! read more

I went in for a pedicure and manicure. The pedicure was okay, the lady wasn't too good at applying nail polish. My manicure was horrible. I did shellac nails but the lady didn't keep my hands inside the uv long enough to let the shellac set. My nails came off the very next day and she didn't do a good job cleaning my nails. I wish I cancelled my appointment after reading reviews but I had a gift card. I don't recommend their services. read more

Prapa's facials exceed others that I've gotten at some of the most expensive spas in the city. Granted, there are some frustrations with the Bliss front desk (can have long lines to check-in/check-out and there were a couple very unfriendly front desk staff members over the years.) Terrible waste of money. I spent $90 on pedicures for my Mom's birthday and it was such a waste. My Mom had to wait 25 mins for her appt and we couldn't even sit next to each other because 2 of the 4 pedi seats were broken. (the bathrooms were also out of order). The 90 minute pedi didn't even have a massage! The majority of the time they would leave us to "soak" and just leave the room. It was laughable. The space is outdated - the locker room was awful and had trash all over the floor. The lounge had stiff and uncomfortable furniture and harsh, bright lighting. I cannot see this place staying open much longer. Oh, and my nail chipped after 2 days after I paid extra for long lasting polish. read more

Got a wax here by Iliana. Bottom line: She was horrible, painful, rushed and left bleeding. I've been getting waxed for years (like since the 90's) and so I know what I want, what's good and what's not so good. I've also been to this location for years before taking a break to try other waxing spas. I came back to this location because I couldn't travel out to my new usual spot and thought why not go back to Bliss Soho, it worked for me for so many years. So wrong! All the estheticians I've worked with are no longer at this location so I let the spa choose who would be working on me based on my appointment time. She was lovely and pleasant during the introduction and when the appointment started. As soon as I got on the table and she slapped the wax on it was downhill from there. She slapped the wax on and when I flinched she asked if the temperature was ok. No, temp was fine but no one slaps hot wax on me before like that. She waxes in way too large sections instead of smaller areas around corners and curves. Nope! She does one large area, puts the parchment all around and pulls in one motion. Now I'm no baby I've done this before but her method was extremely painful to go through and when she was done I had red bumps all over and bleeding. Not to mention the wax was effing crooked. She asked if I wanted more done. Like yes, I do to fix the lopsidedness but not by her. No way. Her license (if she even has one) should be revoked. Bleeding! I was bleeding!!!! Some time has passed. I had a facial yesterday and was really disappointed with the experience. Once I was on the table and under the towels the esthetician was trying to upsell me saying she wanted to set expectations. The basic facial is $140 and at that cost I was expecting a decent facial. She asked if I was open to suggestions and I said I was but really don't want to spend a lot more money. She then asked for my budget... it felt like a really weird conversation to have while I was lying on the table. Important to note that she didnt even evaluate my skin before attempting to make suggestions. Overall the facial was below par. I had a 50 minute massage and the masseuse was very bad. He started by asking me what "add ons" I wanted instead of asking me what he should focus on. The massage itself was not deep tissue. He couldn't actually go deeper despite me asking. He checked in once on his pressure and I asked him to go deeper and he paused the massage to lecture me on how it's not good to be in pain during a massage. He also started after my appointment time but he ended earlier than 50 mins, with also time spent with me getting changed, him talking and asking me question, him getting more lotion, etc. The sauna and steam rooms also didnt work and locker room was so crowded and dirty. This is my least favorite Bliss location. It is very clean and the locker rooms are nice, but the staff isn't as professional. I was scheduled for a bikini wax and the waxer took someone she knew who didn't have an appointment at my scheduled time and kept me waiting for 45 minutes because she was chatting with a friend. My massage with Antonio was completely disappointing. I highly recommend that Bliss confirm with HR this person actually received the training and holds the 20+ years of experience that he claims because what I got was not a massage, it was a RUB DOWN; not even on the level of a basic Swedish massage. I've been getting massage for years because of back problems and Antonio did not demonstrate the basic protocol or basic knowledge of the body. And when I directed him to my problem areas he just dug his elbow in and frequently tugged at my left arm! Where's the skill in that? Also, he kept lifting the blanket up into the air and turning on the light without warning. I spoke to the manager on duty who offered me a free Lemon & Sage body butter. He also defended the masseuse, like a good manager. He genuinely tried to do his best but also stand by his skill-less masseuse. I guess it was a hard position for him. But the bottom line is that I wouldn't recommend Bliss for massage as a result of this experience. I do not believe that he has the experience that he claims; his complete lack of technique is just OBVIOUS. I had to comment because I paid for a service that I didn't get and now I'm losing sleep over it (I'm writing this at 2:54am) The sad part is that I used to come to Bliss frequently back in the day (Bliss 57). I booked my Blissage 105 with add ons and a Head to Toe Glow on-line without any concern about researching my therapists because as I remember it, they were ALL amazing. Not anymore. (**My Head to Toe treatment with Samantha was awesome and the reason I give this review ANY stars at all*) Anyway, my time is precious (I'm a new mom and it's SO HARD for me to get ANY time to myself). And these services, although paid for with Mother's Day gift cards, are not cheap (this was about a $500 day). Gentle! Senstive sk- oh I guess you are done." So, because I am not one to balk at a crap job done by a national chain, so I called and complained. At the time, there was no Bliss SF, so when they offered me a free waxing I told them that wouldn't do me much good (plus, I was afraid to go back!) so instead they refunded my money. I've always had a good reception when I enter into Bliss. While waiting you can have water & snacks. Fruit and brownies... yum! Now ladies her name is Asia...she will change your life with her fast hands! She gave me my first how do you say...1st hair removal in my garden of eden...LOL! I will not go to anyone else. Yes it's the Bliss magic wax that makes it less painful, but I think it also has to do with the person you get. I love that they give you privacy as you undress before they start the wax process. I've been coming here for years and I always leave happy! I went to Bliss Soho to get a shellac manicure and it was terrible!! The person doing my manicure was Elona. While she had a nice personality and spoke A good English (which is the only reason I put 2 stars instead of 1) the service itself was terrible! I've paid for the manicure $55 before tax and tip, which resulted in $64 in total and for that money not only did I not get a good shape of nails but also the gel color is ALL OVER my cuticles and uneven! And of course, being that it's gel there is nothing I can do now to clean up the cuticles, so now I have to have it like this for at least 2 weeks. When I mentioned to receptionist that I am not satisfied with the service and showed her my nails all she said was: "oh I see what you mean, I am sorry about that. I'll let my supervisor know" and THAT'S IT!! I went to Bliss because I wanted to get a higher level of service than at a regular NYC nail salon, the service in fact ended up being much worse and I've paid almost twice as much! Horrible! Went in for a facial and massage and the facial was a joke. As soon as I get in, she instantly starts trying to upsell me for add-ons that would double the price of an already overpriced facial. Luckily, I had read reviews in advance that warned of this so was prepared to stand my ground no matter how much she insisted. Then, when I asked to just move forward with the facial I had booked, that was pretty much the end of any effort. My primary goal of the facial was for extractions and all she did was spend a minute using her fingers- no tools or anything- and didn't do any successful extractions. Considering I could use my own fingers at home, I was really hoping for some sort of tool or expert attention. Then she put some cream/mask on my face and lackadaisically rubbed it in for way too long, before telling me to let it sit there and then left the room for 10 minutes! When you're paying for a certain amount of time for a facial, for the tech to leave the room for sooo long (to the point where the mask had started drying and literally evaporating) was very upsetting. When I first entered, the tech informed me that they were not offering people robes to change into 'because of Covid'. Assuming they wash the robes after each use, I'm not sure how Covid played a role. But after leaving me for 10 minutes, she comes back and tells me I'm done and offers me a robe because she found out that I was moving on to a massage. So I guess they allow robes for certain treatments. Without any direction on where to go, I walked around the spa half clothed until I found the masseuse on a different floor haha. If you can believe it, I left with more clogged pores than when I started and had to go home and try to do my own extractions after all of that. I made the mistake of purchasing a year membership to Bliss. Over the few months that I've been going I've found the services are inconsistent and subpar compared to other spas especially at this price point. I can't wait to cancel and never return to this place again. Massages vary greatly based on the masseuse but overall I've found when coming here with some back and/or other body soreness - it was not alleviated after the service. At other spas I tend to leave with a feeling of body high or euphoria which has never happened here. The massages are okay but by no means spa quality. My real beef with this place are the facials, they are the worst! Estheticians will spend the initial 10-15 minutes trying to get you to add on several additional services before they'll start your actual facial. This has been consistent with each and every person I've encountered. They are aggressive and prepared to push should you not want to spend hundreds more adding on to what you've already booked. In the end, they'll make sure to recommend no less than 3 product that they'll push you to buy as you're checking out. I seriously think they must all be hired from used car lots. If you are looking to relax at all during your facial, you've come to the wrong place! The Estheticians lack a soft touch/professionalism which makes facials feel more like a chore than a treat. They will insult your skin, eyebrows and anything to try to force you to add on services. My last facial experience at Bliss Soho featured a woman who kept the bright light on my face throughout the entire service and repeatedly told me to look in the hand mirror she kept handing me so I can see what she's extracted out my face. She did this no less than 10 times. When I told her I don't need to continue looking, she said "you hate me now, you love me later". She is a perfect example of the rudeness and unprofessionalism I've experienced here time and time again. I cannot state enough how much I hate the staff employed here. LOVE!! I was exhausted from not getting a lot of sleep and running all over NYC with my best friends and needed a massage stat. They were able to squeeze me and a friend in very last minute. We walked in and asked if they had two massages available and they said YES so we booked it and walked right in. All of the Bliss spas I've been to before (San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago) have all been located within the walls of a W Hotel but this particular location was inside a building with several different offices. Didn't bother me but definitely different from previous Bliss spas I've been visited. There is a sauna and steam shower available in the women's changing area and their women's lounge is spacious. They have tea, fruit infused water, cheese, crackers and brownies in the lounge. My massage was amazing and exactly what I needed. She definitely worked out my tension and melted all my stress away. It was awesome. After my massage I just hung out in the lounge and read some magazines and just enjoyed that moment. Definitely recommend! I love BLISS. read more
