I tried their Thursday special, bulgogi cheesesteak. It was great! The bulgogi is made perfectly and has the signature Korean flavor. The bread it's served on is fresh. This is the cutest little sandwich shop in Rockville, MD! I found this restaurant on my Yelp app and called ahead to order a chicken salad sandwich. I did not have the menu in front of me but the young lady who answered the phone quickly walked me through the menu and we came up with a chicken salad BLT with avocado. When I got to the restaurant there was a long line but I was happy to learn that my sandwich was ready to go. I was able to quickly pay and head back to work with my yummy sandwich. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I did not get a pickle.... Like what is a sandwich without a pickle? Aren't pickles complementary these days? *shrugs* I will be returning to this deli in the near future and I will be sure to inquire about the pickles. :) read more

Great sandwiches and wraps, soups and salads that are decent (but lacking the imagination and character that the sandwiches possess), chips, coffee, and sodas. That's pretty much the whole menu. The location is a bit hard to find (on the ground floor of a nondescript office building in a business park on the southeast corner of Research Boulevard and Gude Drive, in Rockville. And the cafe is small, with most of the customers getting their food to go. But the staff moves fast, the manager is a nice guy, and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food received. You can also call ahead, so your food will be waiting when you arrive. The Research Cafe is a popular spot for carry-out breakfast and lunch in this corner of Rockville. This is a cute shop on Research Blvd. I ordered the Smoked Turkey Reuben. I got there when there was no line, so in relation to wait time, I can't provide any insight on that. The young lady who took my order was very friendly and polite. The sandwich itself - It. was. delicious! For the price, the portion you get is very generous. Love, love, love this deli. I go there at least once or twice a week for lunch and have always had meals with consistent good quality. Their ingredients are fresh, and they make many items to order, if you ask for substitutions and add-ons. The service is friendly , and many times the owner will know her customers by name. I have introduced several co workers to Research Cafe, and they have all returned on their own for lunch. I also really like that their items do not taste as though they add too much salt to them, and their hot sandwiches/subs are not as greasy as other delis'. The first time I visited the Cafe the food was great about 1 yr ago. I walked into today and it smelled like spoiled food. It almost made me decide not to order. I ordered a steak sandwich with no onion. The cashier told the young lady 3 times "no onions" and when I got my sandwich there were onions on the sandwich. I tasted the sandwich and it tasted like spoiled meat. I am so disappointed. read more

I love how they remodeled the place. I've been coming to this place for over ten years. It's inside an office building but I think it's a gem. I knew the old owner, Simon. I have walked over this deli since it is about one block down from my office bldg. it has decent sandwiches, etc but I usually only come here if I want to go out for a walk for lunch. If you are in the office area where that deli is located, you should walk up one block across west guide on research blvd and try the deli in the brandy wine realty office complex is. It is called The Sun Spot Cafe. It is in the third bldg of the complex which is 2277 research blvd. They have their own side entrance. I believe basically all office complexes in the area have these kind of Deli's in them and research cafe is good, but the sun spot cafe blows it out of the water and just up the street. read more

As far as office area deli's go,"Research" is THE BEST! The portions are generous, they use fresh premium meats & cheeses, the service is fast and friendly. In addition to New York style deli sandwhiches, they offer wraps (on choice of plain, sundried tomato, or spinach wrap), hot melt sandwhiches and subs (including a scrumptious meatball sub --ask for extra sauce--and a hot chicken ceasar wrap), daily specials that bring variety to the menu, and a great hot breakfast. I found "Research" (as my coworkers fondly call it) when I worked in a nearby building...and now that I work further away, I still go out of my way to get my "Research" lunch. Sometimes I even pick up a couple hot subs or wraps to bring home to my family for dinner...pair it with some Progresso soup from the can and quick and yummy dinner is served!. I have gotten your Executive twice now, and I have to wonder, what is happening. The bread is horrible (wheat toast), it is so hard, I cut the crust off and still tough bread. Please incorporate by email in your daily sandwiches to NOT use OLD/Stale bread. For $8, I should be getting a better sandwich that this mess. I have gotten other sandwiches from you, but they were on sub rolls and they were good. Please don't disappoint your customers like this.
