While we were enjoying our food we had to ask multiple waiters to bring us more coffee because our waiter did not come back to check on us for a long period of time unfortunately. Normally waiters come back periodically to check on the table but she did not. She only came to check on us when she saw us asking our waiters for coffee. On the southside is Hershey's in unincorporated Montgomery County and has a Gaithersburg mailing address. Very convenient restaurant for those taking MARC, but pretty off the beaten path driving over there. My girlfriend of that time & I visited along with a couple of her friends, who were performing open mic. It's a smaller place, but is comfortably cozy in there. I got their staple, which was the fried chicken platter. It was delicious. Acoustics were a bit on the noisier side and service was adequate. In summary, it's a place I'd consider a return to if over in this neck of the woods.

After that interaction, my parents felt uncomfortable that they decided to have their food packaged to go rather than stay and eat. They shouldn't have had to feel that way in a place where they were simply trying to enjoy a meal. To make the situation even more uncomfortable, the same server stood at a distance and continued staring at them until they eventually left. What makes this especially disappointing is that this café used to have such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It always felt fun, friendly, and inviting, which is what made my parents' experience today so unexpected and upsetting. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable and respected when they walk into a restaurant, regardless of what or how much they order. I really hope this was an isolated experience and not a reflection of how customers are normally treated. However, I felt it was important to share because my parents left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome when they should have simply been able to enjoy their meal. The omelet arrived well done. I forgave that but this was the blandest chorizo I had ever tasted. It was devoid of flavor and there was no hint of any kind of spice. At least the peppers and onions had some flavor. What I tasted the most was grease and that prevented me from finishing the omelet. The hash browns were crispy at least. The latte was ultra-bitter and tasted burnt -- severely burnt. I will not go back.
