Then SC gave us whatever time we needed to make our decision. We had follow-up questions and we were able to get quick answers from Jennifer over the phone. We sat down with three different companies representatives before choosing Smart Cremation as we felt it was the best value. Because we travel, we chose the option that would perform cremation services no matter where we passed away, or where our remains were in the world. SC is not a full service funeral home, but provides the death and cremation services we wanted. We will have all funeral services and bereavement help through our church home and pastor. SC will provide the technical services our family will need for cremation, urns, obtaining death certificates, and notifications; then deliver everything to the family, or scatter ashes at sea if we choose that option. Best thing is, if I or our family chooses not use their services in, at any time, we get a full refund.

My brother pasted away in April 2026 and East Lake Mortuary did the cremation of him. East Lake…read moreMortuary also has a place on its website where obituaries can be posted and read. If one wants to post an obituary on that site, one has to email it in a Microsoft Word file (as I was told by someone there) to East Lake Mortuary. Recently, I wrote an obituary for my brother and emailed a Microsoft Word PDF file to East Lake Mortuary. Days later the obituary was posted on the East Lake website by someone at East Lake. However, the version of the obituary that was posted there is different from the original obituary that I wrote and emailed to East Lake. The version of the obituary that was posted there has many typos, such as, many capital letters written in words where the letters are supposed to be lower case, no space between some words, and no space between paragraphs, except for one place where there is a space between one paragraph and the next one. None of these typos were in the version of the obituary that I had written and emailed to East Lake. Apparently, someone at East Lake Mortuary manually copied the obituary (that I emailed to there) on to the East Lake website, but the person who copied the obituary did not do a good job of it. Obviously, this should not have happened, and it could have easily been avoided. This obituary that is currently on the East Lake Mortuary website should be taken down (deleted) and then rewritten correctly on to the East Lake Mortuary website.

I chose this company for many reasons, particularly that it came highly recommended from a friend, but I'd be lying if I said that part of the reason wasn't because of the keepsakes and the fact that I thought I was going to for sure get an ink print of his paw so I can get it tattooed. I will take some responsibility in the fact that I was not the person to directly talk with anyone as I had Less than 24 hours between realizing that my dog was terminal and needing to put him down, so I handed that responsibility off to my fiancé, who was informed that I really really wanted an ink print. But he didn't know/think specifically to ask for ink when he called the company and just said paw print. It is standard for them to give a ceramic paw print, but not ink. We just went and picked everything up and while everything else was absolutely beautiful, to say that I am absolutely DEVASTATED to not have a true ink print of his paw with all the little nuances specific to my baby is an understatement. I think it's important to add that in here because a couple other reviews that I read between yelp and Google specifically stated getting ink prints (they all said they weren't expecting them, but it did make it sound like it was a regular thing) which is why I didn't double down and follow back up myself to make sure that this happened The girl working the front desk was so sweet and did her absolute best to try to get a quick one from the mold that was used for the ceramic, but it's just not the same and it's definitely not exact With that said, this company was timely in pickup and absolutely everyone we've interacted with was so sweet. It truly does seem like they take care of your pet as if it were their own. What we got, which is the standard: ceramic paw print with his name, plain cedar box with his ashes, for clippings, and a heart shaped paper with wildflower seeds in it to plant. One day I'll come down from the disappointment about the ink print and I'm definitely kicking myself for not just getting an ink pad and paper on that final day. Regardless of that, I highly recommend this company
