    Stuffed Artichoke
    Nicole D.

Listen--I'm usually not a calamari girl... but the one at Reservoir Tavern? CRISPY. GOLDEN. GONE in under 5 minutes. The two dipping sauces? Chef's kiss. Then came the stuffed artichoke and let me just say, if you're not ordering it, you're doing it wrong. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly stuffed, perfectly everything. Now, the seafood risotto... there's no photo evidence because I inhaled it. Creamy, rich, full of flavor and the seafood was cooked just right! Washed it all down with a Cosmo that did not skimp on the pour Can't wait to go back!!!

Have been wanting to come here for a while now and finally made it. Soooo glad we did. This place has been here for years and serves old school Italian. So good. Mussels and string beans oregano for appetizers were spectacular. Mussels were plump and the sauce was flavorful. The string beans were excellent. Cooked crisp with loads of flavor. My pork chop was unreal. Cooked perfectly and loaded with peppers and onions. Sandra had pizza and it was delicious. The baked lasagna was cheesy and delicious and the shrimp and pasta was money. Can't say enough good things about this place. Get here early and prepare to wait. You won't regret it. Enjoy.

    Grilled Octopus Salad

This was an old school spot with a wooden interior and an extensive menu that included brick oven pizzas. There was a spacious bar area in addition to the dining section. Although there was a long wait time, once seated, the service was efficient, and the food came out promptly. For starters, we ordered the grilled octopus salad ($17), shrimp beeps ($16), and a small cheese pizza ($13). The octopus was grilled and seasoned with fresh herbs, arugula, and supposedly grilled mangoes; though I did not see any mangoes, which was not a big deal. The salad was huge, with plenty of octopus pieces. Some were a bit tough, but the majority were very flavorful and tender. The shrimp beeps, served in a sherry marinara, were very good. There were about a dozen lightly fried shrimp, and the sauce had a slight spice to it. The bread provided was perfect for soaking up the remaining sauce. The cheese pizza was alright. The crust could have been cooked a bit longer, but the sauce was simple and just right. For the entrée, I had the zingara ($22), a pasta dish with hot peppers, Kalamata olives, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and fresh herbs in a spicy tomato sauce. I opted for rigatoni, which was cooked to my liking. The overall dish was solid. I wished there had been more Kalamata olives, as they complemented the other flavors nicely. The sauce was definitely spicy, but not overly so. I would have preferred the sausage to be crumbled rather than cut up, but aside from that and the lack of olives, it was very tasty. For dessert, we ordered a cannoli ($8?). It was huge and overstuffed with cream. Although I am not usually a big cannoli fan, this was one of the best I have had. The cream was delicious and refreshing, while the crispy shell enhanced it. Will I go back? No doubt.

Reservoir pizza - believe the hype.! As many know who traveled NJ its tough to get bad pizza , in fact good pizza is a standard practice almost everywhere. That said Reservoir is exceptional and its the crust that distinguishes First, enviroment is standard local pub like with a big bar area where you can eat too. Dining area has mostly square four tops and can accomodate many. Met a friend for dinner at 7pm Tuesday night and it was packed with a 15 minute waiting list but it went fast. Finally service was excellent , fast and nothing was forgotten and pricing in todays food world was suprisingly cheap All that said lets talk pizza. We went for a large cheese pie half plain and half meatball( i wanted the beef!) Meatball was plentiful but not so much that it pulled from the other flavors. The tomato sauce was rich and bold - clearly a home made sauce and not institutional.. The crust, ahh the crust. The crust was thick and doughy but not dense and its cook time was perfect no burn spots but crispy too. Finally for those with an appetite a large pie at Reservoir is a full 8 slices and plenty to enjoy! Reservoir - believe the hype

We got a hot pepper and mushroom pizza to go - the pizza toppings weren't evenly distributed so we had slices that had nothing but cheese on top, the flavor itself was great but when we grabbed a slice it was very "floppy" making it hard to eat.

Had an excellent Lemon Drop Martini at the bar while waiting for our table. The pasta with short ribs was disappointing. The pizza was good but a bit greasy for my taste. The appetizers Coratazza was ok. It wasn't as good as I remembered however I would definitely like to come back and try some other dishes.

I had been meaning to give the Columbia Inn in Montville a try for a while since friends of mine…read morementioned that pizza aficionado Dave Portnoy had awarded their exceptional thin crust pizza an 8.7 back in 2020. Even though my usual dining companion and I don't enjoy pizza - due to my lactose intolerance (more on that later) - we finally stopped in for dinner on a recent Saturday night. The restaurant occupies a historic building built in the 1870s that once served as Montville town hall and later became a tavern and inn catering to travelers making their way through northern New Jersey along US Route 202 and the Morris Canal. Today, the Columbia Inn offers diners a great neighborhood pub atmosphere with a lively bar scene and an adjacent dining room that can accommodate larger parties in a casual, family-friendly dining experience. Overall, our food was terrific. My dining companion really enjoyed her St. Peter's fish ($28), a flaky white fish topped with minced garlic, diced tomato with arugula, and a light tomato sauce alongside mashed potatoes and mashed carrots. I ordered the Chicken Scarpariello ($28) -- a very robust sauté of chicken, Italian sausage, and sweet and spicy peppers in a bold, tangy white wine and vinegar sauce -- also served with the mashed potatoes and mashed carrots. Both of us thought our entreés were genuinely delicious. However, we hit a plot twist. Navigating an Italian menu with lactose intolerance is already an extreme sport, but the description of the Scarpariello in the menu looked totally safe. Enter a creative sous chef, who apparently likes to improvise a little off-script. A few bites in, I realized my chicken was secretly wearing a cozy blanket of melted cheese hidden just underneath the sauce. I strive to be the lowest-maintenance diner on the planet and will happily eat around almost anything (while deferring my criticism to a Yelp review) to avoid sending a plate back to the kitchen. I was fully prepared to operationally pick off the cheese and soldier on, but our server, Yuri, caught my look of mild betrayal and swooped in like an absolute hero. He refused to let me suffer through a cheese-scraping mission, insisted on taking my dish back to the kitchen, and had a fresh, dairy-free version out to me in record time and offered his sincere apologies for the snafu. Major credit to Yuri for handling it like a total rockstar. I'm deducting half a star for the stealth cheese surprise and rounding down to 4 stars, but thanks to Yuri's legendary service and the fantastic food, we had a great night and will definitely be back! PRO TIP: The chef seems to enjoy freelancing and dishes may be served with slight variations from the menu descriptions. This has the potential to cause problems for people with food allergies -- so be sure to make your server aware of any specific requests when ordering.

The fettuccine was outstanding, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the pistachio sauce was rich, unique, and full of flavor.
