And when I do, my preference is to stay at a Marriott-owned hotel,…read moremostly because I can almost always count on my following top-five priorities being met: * Cleanliness: The rooms and common areas are almost always very clean. * Safety: Entry into the rooms is almost always via an indoor hallway, where entry is obtained through the front lobby or by key-card access into one of the main hallways. * Quietness: Whether I'm traveling for work or for pleasure, I like to feel well-rested for a better day afterwards. And, these hotels are usually pretty quiet. * Free perks: As an elite member of this hotel chain, most of the time I get free perks during every stay. These are usually simple (like free bottled water), but they're appreciated. * A good membership program: Marriott offers a very good membership program for their elite members. It gives me the ability to earn free stays for the future (for pleasure) by choosing to stay here for business. Within the Marriott chain of hotels, SpringHill Suites is one of my favorites because the rooms most often have: * A comfortable living and work space * A good sized TV * A mini refrigerator * A microwave * A well supplied free continental breakfast * All-day free coffee available in the lobby Now, on to the details for my stay at this particular hotel, at the SpringHill Suites, by Marriott (in Webster, Texas). The primary reason I came here was for a week-long business trip. Most of my expectations for this hotel (noted above) were met, but this place had several disappointments. These included: * This hotel gave away all rooms with a king-sized bed, even though I reserved one in advance. * There was no "Do not Disturb" sign for my room, so I was interrupted when I did not want to be. * On my floor, the 6th floor, the entire hallway smelled moldy, and they had fans blowing continuously to try to mitigate the terrible smell. The hotel management should not have even given any customers a room on this floor, but they did. * The A/C system in my room was terribly loud, so much so that I could not keep it running at night because it kept me awake. This was terrible, especially since it was the summertime. * Also with the A/C system, this could be an indicator that the A/C system in my room was going out because it was also unable to keep up with the summertime demand during the day. After returning at the end of my workday, every day, it was always uncomfortably warm in my room, even when the A/C system was programmed to maintain a comfortable temperature. * My magnetic room key stopped working on two separate days, locking me out of my room each time. This was incredibly annoying because after realizing this, I had to go down to get my key remade each time, only then regaining access to my room. * My room was not serviced by room service on three of the five days I was here. * The ice machine did not work on my floor, the 6th floor, the entire time I was here. So, I had to go to another floor every time I wanted ice. * The deadbolt lock to my hotel room door was unable to lock for the entire time I was here because the lock in the door was misaligned with the door frame. This was disturbing, especially from a safety/security perspective. * Upon checkout, I asked the hotel to change the credit card I used during my stay. The young lady I asked said that she did this, but I could see that she did not actually do this after returning from my trip. I then had to call the hotel to get this credit card changed. Unfortunately, most of the hotel staff does not even pick up the phone. I ended up calling over fifteen times over three days, where I either got a random voicemail message or I got hung up on. This is terrible customer service. Overall, I liked this hotel, but there were just too many things that were annoying to even give this location an average rating. Therefore, I have to rate this location as a "below average" experience. To me, having so many problems that a customer can experience just shows negligence on the management's part, which made me tempted to rate this as a 1-star experience. But again, you can see that this hotel was nice (from my pictures), so I'll rate this as two stars. This hotel clearly has the potential to be a 5-star worthy location, but the management just needs to make more of an effort for their customers.

If they are going to have an outlet to plug in maybe provide more than 1 as the entire week I was there it was a battle with the others to get the spot or hope that a non ev wouldn't take the spot. Then there's the social nights mon-wed that is advertised till 7 but if you don't show up right at 5:30 and you decide to get there at 6-6:30 then you are left with scraps. I wouldn't advertise till 7 and just say starting at 5:30 till it's gone. That way people won't get upset great staff poorly and get snippy with those that were brought up in the wild. I'm not making this up 2 nights I witnessed people be rude to staff for not making enough and someone take multiple plates for later and one for now and guests getting smart with each other. I will say staff was great and always happy. At least the few I dealt with. Now the best part is they have designated dog areas to walk but don't offer bags so either the guests are slobs and leave the pets waste or it's because the bags aren't available either way they should have someone picking things up if guests aren't. This leads me to the lack of yard maintenance the grass was never cut leading to the search for the yard bombs. I stepped in twice unfortunately and then twisted my ankle due to a hidden hole from overgrown grass. Overall it was a 3.8 for me

One of the standout features was the coffee bar, which offered a great selection of delicious brews that really kick-started my mornings. The snack bar was great and was stocked with a variety of frozen dinners and snacks that were perfect for a quick bite. It's great to have convenient options available, especially when you're on the go. Breakfast served daily was another highlight; the variety ensured there was something for everyone. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the stay even more enjoyable. My room was clean and comfortable with plenty of plug outlets and even USB plugs. There is an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, body and hand soap, shampoo and conditioner (works great ladies) and body lotion. They all smell amazing! So to Webster we went, to be closer to the Texas city, la marque and Galveston bubble and not having to fork over Galveston hotel prices. We love the clean rooms, easy check in and free breakfast that is pretty good for the price point, nothing concierge or fantastic but it's a safe place to eat eggs, protein, bagels, coffee and cereal and get going. Furthermore, we always appreciate the safe well lit parking and the fact it's close to target, the mall, lifetime gym, and Sam's club and Costco made it a win for our family as this is all in our bubble back home. Front desk was very accommodating and welcoming and we even peeked a hot tub and pool for those daring enough to get in the water during the winter freeze. Overall, we appreciated this spot and look forward to returning if we ever are in the vicinity of the NASA/Clear Lake/Webster bubble!

Also, the man at the desk started a negative political discussion with me and said he would be going back to Pakistan next day and you could tell he didn't care for the US.

There was no manager to speak to and the young lady said there was nothing she could do. I asked to have the managers name or email and she would not provide it. I found a business card on the desk so I took it to have the email. She refused to provide me information. 07/28 Spoke to Ross (front desk manager) with no resolution to my issue except hanging up on me when I would not allow him to yell over me. He states there is no general manager or location manager here. They are managed by an outside management company which he does not know the name of the company, their contact information and has no manager over him or supervisor. I asked him where his checks come from and he said, "I don't know I just cash them" On the chat with customer service, when Hotels.com calls the hotel and "Andy" stated Ross was in a meeting and could not answer. I immediately called back myself and "Andy" (sounded just like Ross) said nobody from Hotels.com called and Ross is in a meeting. I asked him how would the representative know Ross was in a meeting if they never called. He hung up. UPDATE 08/10/2026: No call back from anyone and no response to my emails. Since the manager did not respond on Google, you know I am telling the truth or they would be defensive as they are with all other reviews. So bottom line. Dishonest company, dishonest employees who have no idea who they work for or the name of their management company.

It never fully cooled down. Also had issues with the sink not draining. I checked into a room on a the 4th floor and it smelled musty, but seemed okay. But minor tears in the wall and needed some upkeep. I came back from dinner and go into the bathroom and find a German roach crawling around the wall. I said nope, called downstairs and switched rooms. This is where I would have checked out but I couldn't leave other people I was traveling with. The next room was an accessible room on the third floor. It's had rips in the walls and some stains and needed some TLC - the musty smell way worse in this room. I thought it was just from water residue but makes me think it's probably from and infestation. Anyways, I covered all the drains in the bathroom didn't unpack anything because I was grossed out - if you see one roach there are more. Tiles were broken near the elevator and make some places feel unstable. Overall, the property needs attention but I will never return. I informed our booking agency about the issues.
