We had a friend book the reservation. When we checked in we gave them all the information changed the reservation to our name gave credit card it was ran and I signed for it. One month later our friend got doubled billed. We called the hotel and they have no record of anything in our name. We can only assume that our credit card information was stolen the hotel would do nothing without our coming into the hotel. We are 400 miles away. I emailed corporate and received a call on my cell phone number. This was never given in the email nor when we continued to call the hotel. Where did they get my cell phone number I only gave my number when we checked in and changed the reservation which we were told numerous times they had no record. After email corporate we got a call from the hotel and got it straightened out. We had to again give them all the info that I had given when we checked in. read more

Stayed here for 7 days while work was being done in my condo Clean and pleasant place to hang your hat. Pool & hot tub. Choice of daily room service or not. Free social hours several nights a week, plus they had a free cookout tasting. Plus breakfast every day. Staff extreme friendly. Definitely would recommend for anyone needing an extended stay. Update - the Risk Manager was eventually provided my complaint. He well understands how to engage customers when things go wrong. He expressed apologies and reassured me the hotel room had undergone pest control care. He provided a weekend stay worth of points. I think he did an adequate job. The staff involved prior to him was totally incompetent in handling complaints. I hope they not only had pest control provide service to the entire hotel, I hope they refurbish and update the place into the 21st century instead of the 1980's chic currently evoked. read more

The hotel room was not clean. There was food in the fridge, wet/used towels hanging in the closet and on the tub, the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles were empty. When I called the front desk to ask for the manager I was told he was out working in the rooms. I asked for him to call me back and he never did. Come to find out he was not on the property at all. I had to go hunt down the cleaning person to get some shampoo as the front staff said there wasn't anyone able to bring me the shower supplies. It is obvious the hotel is poorly managed as it is understaffed and employees are poorly trained. Will never stay here again. read more

We first stayed here about 12 years ago and upon returning last week I was surprosed at how bad it looks. Maybe its just our building, dont know what number ours was but it was the one that opened into back parking lot. Hallway was dark and uninviting. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets are very worn out and they do not yet have the new Marriott beds. The bed was so smushy and uncomfy! Bathroom light wasnt very bright, if you went in there and shut door completely you could barely see. A/c unit is now awkwardly behind the tv making it aggravating to try to adjust it. The new slots by the door to put your card to have the a/c stay on when you leave were kinda cool but oveeall we were.disappoonted in how it seems to have gone downhill. read more

I would give this property 3.5 stars if I could. The staff is very pleasant but the accommodations could be better. I spent 5 nights at this property between Christmas and New Year's 2020 as a quick getaway. In the room, the walls are very thin so if your neighbors are making any noise, you will hear it. This property has three floors and I like staying on the first floor but if I should stay again, I am going to request a room on the 3rd floor. There was loud thumping noises coming from upstairs like there were kids jumping and it was very bothersome. Doors closing in the hallways could be heard. The guests to the left and to the right of us had loud voices. I don't remember staying at a place that was this noisy. I'll mention the good things about this place which include the BBQ grill and the fire pit in the center courtyard was nice. Location is South Reno which was convenient to grocery stores, food establishments and the freeway. (Walking distance). Having a kitchen in the unit was nice along with a full-size refrigerator. Brand new hotel. Great location in Sparks. Located near the outlets. There are plenty of food options for you to eat. Hotel was nice. They have an indoor pool and a half court for basketball outside. Monday-Wednesday they have a reception in the lobby with free snacks & drinks. Wine & beer was also include. Rooms were nice size kitchen & full size fridge. 50" tv was also a plus. Does not change the fact that we had asked Jay, the maintenance man, to leave while he came to fix the shower head. The dogs were aggitated, it was loud, and no one wants to deal with that ruckus. He refused to leave. Even my wife asked him to leave. His response was that it will take him 30 seconds. 30 seconds to long bud! I travel for work every other week, and have stayed at numerous Residence Inn's. This one was very disappointing. Not sure when this was built but it seems old, and definitely smells old. Every day that I went to breakfast, they were practically out of food. I never saw any breakfast pastries, and No juice machine. At least as a Gold member at Hilton, I get free bottles of water. When I arrived with other coworkers we were welcomed by the friendly reception staff of Pauline, Reign, Brittany, Natalie and Assistant General Manager Benny. Was checked in by Pauline and she was amazing. She was very attentive, professional and friendly. Needed assistance the next day and was welcomed by another friendly face Grachelle. I am a resident of Washoe Valley, Nevada. On October 14, 2016 at 6:20am, we received a mandatory evacuation order as a result of the Little Valley Fire that was burning out of control and consuming everything in its path. At 7:00am, I left my home. At 11:40am, Governor Sandoval, declared a state of emergency in Washoe Valley. At 1:50pm, the Residence Inn website indicated that rooms were available in Reno for $129/night. So, I called the property directly at 1:54pm to explain my situation. The young man who answered the telephone confirmed that rooms were available. However, after inquiring about the property's cancellation policy, (it was 24 hours and they would not make any exceptions, regardless of the situation with the fire), the following exchange occurred: Residence Inn (RI): Before we get started, I have a few questions. Me: OK. RI: Did your house burn down? Me: I don't know; I left at 7 this morning. RI: Do you have any pets? Me: No. RI: Well, we only have availability for people who have truly been affected by the fire, not just an evacuee. Me: Are you kidding me? I have no clue if my house burned down, I left seven hours ago after the mandatory evacuation order. RI: OK. Well, we do have a very nice property next to the ballpark with rooms and they can accommodate you. Me: I don't want to stay downtown, I live in Washoe Valley. I want a room in South Reno so I can get home as soon as the mandatory evacuation is lifted. RI: Sorry but I can't help you. I'm dealing with people who will be staying with us for more than 30 days and I'm working with multiple insurance companies. You don't even know how long you'd be staying. Me: Like I said, I left home seven hours ago; I have no clue what's going on out there. All I can say is that I am a Marriott Rewards member and I am completely appalled by this conversation. I worked in the hospitality industry and I am speechless. RI: Sorry. Good luck. At 2:20pm, I contacted the Staybridge Suites in Reno and explained the exact same situation to the young lady who answered the telephone and she gladly gave me their last room...no strings attached. I was affected by the fire; I was evacuated AND displaced. But that didn't seem to matter to this property; they only wanted guaranteed, long-term occupants. We arrived at about 9-930pm on Saturday and no one was at the front desk for quite some time. I had to call the front desk for someone to come pick up the phone to be acknowledged. Upon checking into the room - it smelled like vomit. Tried to switch rooms but couldn't as the hotel was fully booked and we checked in late already. Nothing was available. We select the residence inn brand because we find it helpful being that we have a two year old toddler with us. Having a kitchen helps out a great deal when we need to warm up food, store milk, wash bottles and such. But what doesn't help is when there's no soap to work with. Breakfast is also a reason why we book with this brand. It's not rocket science that this is a money saver for families. What doesn't help is when there's basically no breakfast. It's MLK weekend. You know your establishment is booked solid. Why would you not communicate or prepare your staff for the high volume? No eggs, no oatmeal, no fruit... Ridiculous. Never again. read more

We stayed here for a week. The staff was amazingly good. They responded to every need an every question very quickly and well. I actually spoke to the hotel manager and gave her this feedback. I stayed here a couple of years ago, and it was fine. However, it has been sliding downhill greatly since then. I had an unprovoked fight with a couple in the laundry room with a couple at 6:30 am this morning. They had every machine - both washers and dryers - occupied for hours before I suggested that this behaviour was antisocial. I'm down with the occasional dog, but potbelly pigs?? No. I have other hotel choices, and I guess that neither the Residence Inns in Reno or Sparks are good options for me. I hope that you have better luck. read more

This is a fair hotel, but a poor Residence Inn. It is supposedly slated for a $2,000,000 renovation in 2012, but with 120+ rooms plus public areas this might not be enough. The staff is friendly and helpful, but this is a run down property that shows its age. My room had a desk chair with a broken arm, one of the wine glasses was cracked, the bath mat was barely fit to be a rag, and the carpet was showing wear. It was clean but dated. However, the old TVs that other reviewers mentioned have been replaced with large flat screens. Wireless internet is available in the lobby, but the rooms were wired only. The breakfast had limited selections compared to other Residence Inns I've frequented, and they were slow to replenish items as they ran out. There were too few tables to accommodate the guests, and Styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery were provided instead of quality dinner ware. The pool, although supposedly heated, was bone chillingly cold and there were rarely enough clean towels available. Fortunately the hot tub was a great place to warm up after an icy plunge. Let's face it, you have to have low expectations in Reno, but Residence Inn still fails to meet them. You can do better elsewhere. read more

We stayed here one night before my wife's flight from Reno. We stayed on a certificate so we didn't have to pay for the room but that did not influence my review. When we arrived and the front desk the staff was so friendly. Very outgoing and they appreciated the fact that we were gold members and thanked us many times for staying with Marriott. I don't know how they treat regular guests but based on their demeanor I would guess that they treat everyone the same. We had a studio room on the second floor. The room was spacious and clean. It looks like they recently refreshed the rooms. Everything worked and the kitchen area was clean along with the silverware and glasses. The linens were clean and not worn. Pillows were OK maybe they could have been better, a little lumpy. The room was relatively quiet. I heard some noise from the floor above but nothing major. This hotel is close to the airport, about five minutes and they do have a shuttle if you need it. Overall this hotel exceeded my expectations and was above some of the other RI I have stayed at in the past. Great job. Keep up the good work read more

We stayed here with our young son hoping for a quiet hotel in the evenings. We arrived on Friday and left Sunday. Each night there was a large (15+) group of teenagers aloud to scream in the courtyard, yell in the hallways and continue the behavior until 11pm each night. I called the front desk multiple times and got a non responsive and hardly coherent representative. Each night she said there was nothing that could be done because city ordinance allows this until 11pm. I hardly doubt it. My recommendation: DO NOT stay here with young children if they need to sleep before midnight. You will have no support from the staff to enforce curfew or keep a safe environment. read more

He stayed here for two nights recently and had a great experience. Breakfast is good in the mornings and on Monday and Tuesday nights they have free happy hour that includes decent beers and enough food that you don't have to buy dinner. We use points to stay here so I don't know if the value was great, but we like the space and having the kitchen and full size fridge. It's right next to a grocery store which is super convenient. Stayed for Football game at UNR. Location is great, near the freeway and Reno is soooo easy to get around. Check in went smooth, until I was told we were staying on the third floor at a certain wing and the elevator is broken and not sure how long it will be till fixed. I politely requested to change rooms, as it wouldn't for my family. Took a while and front desk was able to put us on the ground floor near the lobby. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The only thing we stumbled upon was a dirty towel hanging behind the bathroom door. Make sure you check the entire room prior to settling in. Not sure how room service failed to see it. But it was an easy fix and I thrown it out in the outside garbage can. It wasn't nothing to majorly complain about....just gross and disappointing. All in all....I would stay here again read more

I am a Marriott fan. However, the Residence Inn on Gateway in Reno, Nevada leaves a great deal to be desired. Ada, the guest representative is rude over the phone and in person. Why would anyone want to return to this hotel if greeted with this type of disposition? She refused to listen to my issues. I was also promised a certain room, to only have it given away while I was there. Benny said he made a notation in the system for me to be moved to this room. When we stayed as a family at this Residence Inn during the winter season, the employee's were so nice and always made sure we had everything we needed. At the time, we all had dogs which for those of you who dont know DOGS ARE ALLOWED at residence inn's for a deposit fee. :) The breakfast was good, the room service was good, the rooms were awesome. We even were scared of the whole snow next to the cars ordeal but everyday that it snowed they had someone come out who cleared the sidewalks and streets and even around the cars. It was a nice relaxing place to stay and I would stay here again and again! read more

The residence inn is a great extended stay hotel, I chose this place based on the kitchenette and booked the two-room suite. Kitchenette details: Full size refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. 2 burner stove that works well (elec.). All basic utensils, cookware, plates etc. Do keep in mind that the pans are thin, I'd suggest bringing a good pan if you plan to use the kitchen to it's full extent, worked great for me. The pots were fine and did their job. Laundry right down the hall, $3 for one wash/dry cycle. The restroom is nicely updated, clean looking finishes, operates well. The bedroom has a lot of space, comfortable bed and soft sheets. Breakfast/supper: Each morning a simple hot breakfast is available, coffee, tea, fresh fruit. A few weeknights they offer light bites including beer/wine. The staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel for an extended stay in Reno, I would not recommend this for larger groups or weekenders, it's a calm quiet place in South Reno. read more

Older Residence Inn with air conditioner problems. Located just out of town off freeway. Staff was not very receptive. The two people at the desk in the lobby always seemed to be playing a video game. We stayed five days. Got to know the routine. Cleaning staff could not speak English, usually no problem, but we were not getting our roomed cleaned until after 4pm and on one day not at all. Front desk said they would take care of it. They did not. We like the Residence Inn experience usually but this one is off our list. Not recommended. read more

I want to give a review of one star because of the customer service we had to start, but also wanted to give a five star review for the customer service we received after staff swaps. Hopefully management reads these!! My boyfriend who is a gold member asked Ron, the old, bald, short, stubby man behind the counter if we could possibly get an upgrade from a one bedroom to a two bedroom suite. We had a friend joining us last minute with a bad back and thought if they had something available, then it would be much better for her not to have to sleep on a sofa bed. After asking, Ron turned us down with no other options saying nothing was available. We got into our room to check out just how bad the sofa bed was and it was worse than laying on the ground! We checked online to see if any two bedrooms were available and there were, so I went downstairs to ask once again if upgrading was an option, and if not free, then how much more would it be? His response was everything but compassionate. He said he had nothing available and the upgraded fee would be $210.00!!!! Seriously!? That's more than what we would spend on getting an ADDITIONAL two bedroom room! And he just admitted something must have been available if he would have taken our money to do change our rooms. Our luck and service changed several hours later. I went back into the lobby just to ask the heartless man what his name was cause I was too frustrated to remember to get it sooner. To our surprise, staff had changed over and we spoke to Catherine who was SUCH a huge help!!! We asked her if there was a chance we could upgrade, told her all about what had happened when we checked in and she at first said she wasn't sure she had anything available but she kept looking and looking and typing as quick as she could and was able to upgrade us and gave us a 2pm checkout time to make up for Ron's lack of professionalism. She was sooooo wonderful!! Zero stars for Ron! A million stars for Catherine! If I could give her anymore praises I would!! Give her a promotion and a raise! She deserves it for the way she responded to the whole thing! Absolute wonderful customer service. If she was the one to check us in in the first place, this would have definitely gotten five stars (more if I could). Also a ten star review to the cooking staff who set up the continental breakfast, she was the sweetest lady and even when we came in right at 9:30 when they were ready to close down breakfast time, she made more eggs and sausage just for us! 5 stars goes to the Inn of choice for snowboarding trips to Northstar/Tahoe. 1) it's cheap (for a friend who has connections), and 2) continental breakfast?! I'm there! We stay here Saturday night and get up Sunday morning for breakfast (waffles w/ strawberry jam, sausage, eggs, CHEESE SAUCE (nacho cheese sauce), biscuits, donuts, etc etc.). Breakfast will usually get us to our next next meal (we'll save a little of the breakfast for lunch), so how do you NOT love this Inn? 3) Friendly service always at the front desk, even when we request a gazillion towels and use the wrong Marriott key to get into the buildings. read more

Off the beaten track, the Residence in is located south of the strip and within walking distance to supermarket and other conveniences. The rooms are spacious and have all the same amenities as other Residence inn hotels, (dishes, coffee, cookware, full size fridge etc). I have recently stayed at other Marriott chain hotels; which have been newly renovated, and this one reflects its ten or so year old aesthetics. Older CRT televisions and minor wear of doors and tiles. Great value but not breathtaking. The local casinos have cheaper rooms but the free breakfast and snacks easily make up the cost. Good place for families with children, Staff is warm and helpful. read more

I would however mention that the quality of the actual units do not quite correlate with market price, but if you want a place that is convenient and have a easy access to the main highway yet is still quiet enough for a good nights rest, this would probably be a place for you to consider. read more

We stayed here for two weeks from memorial day weekend 2019 through the first week of June. It was a good experience with the morning breakfasts a welcomed benefit. They are pet friendly so expect to hear barking dogs. Get an extra key card because it is how the air conditioning works when you're in the room. You insert the card by the light switch and the room lights and a/c will work. There is a basket ball hoop available for kids. They serve food and drinks during the evenings occasionally which is great. The room was showing its age and the door lock broken when we were there, but they fixed it right away. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They forgot to clean our room a couple of times, but we were able to get clean towels. It is good value for families with kids. read more
