Tried to tune the furnace anyway to accommodate it, which was actually kind of fun to watch all the different ways it could be done. No other HVAC technician I've ever worked with before has done that. A/C maintenance went great too. First company I've ever hired that didn't try to sell me an entirely new unit just due to a faulty capacitor. Even gave me the model number of the capacitor to replace if I want to save money and do it myself (I'm reasonably handy so it's something I'd probably do). I'll be using them for as long as they give great service!

AC died in the middle of the night. They came out the next morning and said my unit was too old…read morerepair (just over 20 years old), while ripping out something from the power box and seemingly breaking a component in there. They said they could try to do a repair for about $1.3k but that they couldn't guarantee the repair would be effective because of the condenser. They then tried to sell me on their highest end heat-pump for about $24k, which was too much for our needs, since our furnace was also functional. We ended up choosing a basic AC replacement for around $9k. They were able to install the new unit two days later. However, on the day of the install, they saw some surface level rust on the furnace heat exchanger and tried to get me to replace it for an additional $4k. When I said no, they backed off and recommended a CO alarm (which we already have). It felt like I was being heavily taken advantage of because I was in a dire situation. The installation went fine, but my experience of being pressured and hard sold to during the process made it feel like I was being milked for every penny they could get out of me. Take this as a precaution to check your HVAC AC/furnace/heat pump regularly, and get multiple quotes before deciding on work. If you go with this company, they will seemingly do an effective job, but they will try their best to get as much money out of you as possible.

Just before Christmas they came out to look at my furnace. I called my Dad on the way home to see how it went (I usually forget to look at my filter until they are on their way to check it :(...but usually it still goes really well.) He asked if I wanted the good news or the bad. (The good was unrelated...he set up my Christmas tree while he was here.) The bad news was that I had a crack in my heat exchanger and would need a new furnace before Christmas. Let's just say I didn't expect Santa would be bringing one by. Chappel sent out Dwight to talk me thru the process, really look over my house to determine what I would need and set me up to get this fixed as promptly as possible. He even brought his laptop with a picture of my crack...not that I would have recognized it but someone with knowledge about these things probably would have appreciated it. The people that came out from Chappel were Philip who is the owner and Alex, (technician), and Brad ,(Certified Spacepak Technician). I had Chappel out last Thursday and Friday and today. The Owner, Brad, and Alex all were great people and all of them did an excellent job! My Spacepak was reinstalled correctly, The return was installed to a larger and correct size, 4 new supplies were installed, 2 new refridgerant lines were added and repaired. The first contractor who I hired to originally install the new Spacepak didn't do any of the things that Spacepak requires. Brad, Alex, and Philip did a great job and I would highly recommend Chappell Heating and Colling for any HVAC work and specifically for Spacepak work! Great Job everyone!

I've been a long time customer of Bloomingdale Heating & Air Conditioning and regularly recommend…read morethem to others. That said, my last experience with them was so disappointing that I won't be using them again in the future. I called after hours when my furnace stopped working and was giving off a strong smell. They use an answering service. The answering service passes along emergency calls to Bloomingdale Heating & Air Conditioning and promises a call back in 5-10 minutes. I called 4 times over the course of 5 hours. Never got a call back. The next morning I get a call, I mention the issue I had the night before. The response was - "it was a busy night". Technician comes out. Quotes me $620 for a $100 part and 40 minute install (his estimate, not mine). I question the price. He says he'll call his manager to see if they can do better. An hour later, I get a call from the office with someone requesting payment. I say that the quote is still being reviewed. The person on the phone says she is the office manager and the price is what it is. I ask how a 40 minute job adds up $520 in labor. She says that her price includes parts, labor, and the service call. I acknowledge the cost of the part is roughly $100 and again question the other $520. She mentions a $90 service fee. I question why that isn't rolled into labor. Historically, they waive service fee if work is done. After going in circles, the office manager asks "for a minute", thinks she puts me on hold but doesn't, yells inaudibly for about 10 seconds, then comes back on the line to collect payment. From start to finish, the whole experience was embarrassingly unprofessional. Feel free to charge what you can when running your business, but do it in an appropriate way.
