She flipped through her book, while I watched and proceeded to tell me "I can't find the sticker. I lost it" I told her I believe I saw it, and she snapped at me "that one is silver! You said you want gold!" I asked to see the book so I could switch my design and lo and behold I found the gold sticker. I pointed it out and she scoffed and proceeded to use more pressure on my nails to the point it hurt. Despite all this I wanted to give it another shot because I loved her work and scheduled a fill. When she saw it was me she gave me a cold look and walked away. The receptionist then told me Stella is refusing service and another tech would assist me. I called 911, and she was transported to Banner Hospital, where I am with her now. I fully understand why businesses have cancellation policies, and my concern is not the $17.50 fee itself. My concern is the complete lack of compassion and professionalism in how the situation was handled. I explained the circumstances, texted photos from the hospital, and even offered to provide documentation if needed. Despite that, no one asked how my mother was doing or expressed any concern. Instead, I was met with an argument over the cancellation fee and repeatedly told that it was simply their policy. There is an important difference between a routine last-minute cancellation and an unexpected medical emergency involving a loved one. I would have expected at least a small amount of understanding and empathy in a situation like this. It is unfortunate to lose a loyal customer over $17.50, particularly when the issue was never really about the money. It was about how I was treated during an incredibly stressful and frightening situation. After this experience, I will not be returning.
