The restaurant is in the 7 falls state park which is on property owned by the Broadmore resort and is a portion of the 5000 acre resort. To access patrons must be brought to the park entrance by a bus run by the park. At the park entrance a 3 $20.00+/- must be purchased and the patron can walk through the park on a paved path or go by electric vehicle to the restaurant (bus and electric vehicle are handicap equipped and provided at no additional cost). The distance from park entrance to the restaurant is about.8 miles ant the scenery is jaw dropping. The park is in a box canyon with sheer walls of between 500 feet and 950 feet and the whole path is through a mature forest with astr running along side. Once at the restaurant youwill find a taste fully furnished restaurant in the mountain retreat style an outdoor covered patio ant the base of the 7 falls. Guests may use elevator to ascend to an observation deck built into the cliff or ascend by stairs along the falls. The restaurant itself serves upscale food for both lunch and dinner. Meal price varies between about 20 dollars per person and 90 dollars per person including beverages and desert. The food is ordered lactate. The staff from mattered to wait staff is outstanding! Many are repeat foreign people from English speaking countries who are trained and very what to provide excellent service. My dining experience from a food service standpoint was not up to Broadmore standards it was in some cases served cold under cooked and missing menu noted ingredients. All unacceptable food was replaced with B other menu items there was a satisfactory bill adjustment and we were provided complementary desserts. I attribute the deficient food quality to kitchen personnel still being trained to resort standards and a one time issue. B sat other times including my 1973 honeymoon I have received excellent food service and memorable meals. N I will not hesitate to return and encourage others to enjoy a terrific resort park experience and hopefully Broadmore level properly prepared menu items. We visited this restaurant as a part of an overall experience we wanted to have with some out of town guests. We were looking for an outdoor activity that showcased some of the beauty of Colorado along with a meal. Seven Falls and Restaurant 1858 appeared to fit that bill perfectly. The location is stunning. The falls and surrounding areas are gorgeous. It's a nice little physically activity on the way to your meal that allows you to enjoy the outdoors while still being accessible to people of varying ages and fitness levels. I looked at the menu before choosing to come here and was prepared for a large bill with the high prices. The pictures looked phenomenal, and I don't mind paying a high price for the beautiful setting and a delicious meal. But the food was mediocre at best. We ordered the charred brussel sprouts, which appeared steamed or baked and then lidded, with no char or crisp at all. We also got the bacon wrapped shrimp and nachos, which were decent. Kind of insane for $30 for 4 shrimp, but they tasted OK. My daughter ordered the steak and frites, and said it tasted weird. My husband and I tried a bite and it was rancid. The potatoes that came with this steak were the best thing on the table, to be honest. Beautifully crispy and perfectly seasoned. They took the steak back and removed it from the bill, but quite a disappointment. Everyone else's meals were OK, no one was enthusiastic about their dishes, from the hot honey chicken sandwich to the Canyon Bowl. We were hoping none of us would feel any repercussions from the steak that has gone bad. The person who has the Canyon Bowl with pork ended up violently ill for 24 hours beginning 12 hours after consumption. We could blame it on other things they ate, but this was the only thing that they alone ate, and no one else was ill. Considering the condition of the steak, perhaps the refrigeration had gone down for a time? I'm not sure what happened there, but for the price, I really had higher hopes for the meal. If the meal had been a better experience, this is a place we would add to our list of must-do's for out of town guests, but we won't be back, sadly. Side note - You do have to take a shuttle from the parking lot to the entrance to the Seven Falls park, and you do have to pay for entry to the Seven Falls park to access the restaurant. Located in the Seven Falls park at the bottom of the falls sits this quaint restaurant decorated in a rustic, early frontier style inspired by the 1850s Colorado Gold Rush. Many book reservations in advance to ensure they have a table ready but we planned poorly and were starving by the time we got down from the falls. We thought we'd spared enough time to leave the park and grab lunch but by the time we finished it was nearly 2pm and so the nearest restaurant we went! Prices are what you would expect inside The Broadmoor's tourist park, but everyone was incredibly friendly and the service was phenomenal. The food was decent, although a bit under seasoned. We had a 6:45p reservation (next to their last one for the evening) and the hostess helped us get outdoor seating with a little added wait! Listening to the falls and rushing water on a covered patio was an awesome environment. I had the local Colorado Rocky Mountain Red Trout served the Western Slope way - almond granola crusted with palisade peach chutney - and a Moonshine Mule made with locally produced, award-winning 291 Fresh Moonshine Whiskey. All of it was scintillatingly scrumptious! The historical decor is intriguing and the ambiance is pomp, but with a casual and welcoming vibe. Our service was attentive and helpful with the menu, and when we wanted to extend our dining experience with coffee and dessert she offered to move us to one of her inside tables since it had turned chilly outside. I'd absolutely eat here again - and returning to places I experienced on vacation is something I typically don't do! You do have to have a ticket to the Seven Falls park to access the restaurant, but don't worry about closing the place down if you're there late - they provide a shuttle back to the park's parking lot (which is a big lot, but it's a ways back in town - about a 10-minute drive). read more

At the end of the seven falls hike is this fancy restaurant. Servers were all nice and attentive, even the manager came to our table to check on us. Their menu is a bit pricey but portions are enough to share, even the kids menu. My friend and I shared the bowl and it was savory and delicious. The kids burger came with fries and pretty big. Hot chocolate was just right amount of sweet and they add these golden balls for aesthetic which is also good to take to go on your trek back to your car. read more

Walls are packed with Old Colorado history, so you can feel cultured while sweating off your hike. Drinks: white sangria = sunshine in a glass, Gold Rush Old Fashioned = adulting at its finest. Food highlights: loaded mac & cheese, wild boar chili, steak frites (the true show stopper). Broadmoor prices may sting a little, but fantastic service softens the blow. We stopped here after hiking up the falls, and were told we couldn't be seated for over an hour. The bar was empty so we asked if we could sit there and order food and they said yes. It was a little odd though that most tables were empty/marked reserved and no one came during the time we were there. I ordered the burger with onion rings. I was a little confused because the menu said the sandwiches were served with fries or onion rings and didn't mention an up charge, but there was one for onion rings (so that felt a bit misleading). The bartender did warn me but at that point I had already made my decision. The burger was cooked a little over (closer to medium well than medium), but was flavorful and juicy still. The onion rings had some unique seasoning on them (almost like a BBQ flavor?) but were crispy and tasty. The food and service was overall good, but we did have someone in our group whose food came a lot later than everyone else's. The bartender asked if he had sent back his original order, and he said no, but the bartender had no other explanation for why it took so long. Chicken was delicious and cooked well (not dry at all). The salad dressing was too oily, not nearly enough vinegar/citrus. The toppings were minimal too - barely any beans corn avocado etc. The tortilla strips also were blah, don't seem to be made in house. We ate outside which was nice that we could be there with our pups. However, outdoor dining area is an after thought. No decor, just tables and chairs. The service was good, waiter was a bit quiet but thats okay. Now the food, my boyfriend had the Prospector's Bison Burger with onion fries, and his burger was cooked perfectly. I had ordered the Steak & Frites, and for $51 it is not worth it. I had asked for medium wellness, and it was not. I had two of the 5 pieces, and saw the one that was in the middle and it was completely raw. The second piece that I ate had a piece of raw meat on it that I just cut off, assuming that was the last of it but it was not. The last piece that I had eaten off the second part was room temperature at best. Not even warm. I had also gotten potato wedges and got 5 huge pieces. Half of them were not even fully cooked, they still had hard chunks of potato in the middle of them. The seasoning was good, if it had been fully and properly cooked, this would be a good review. So yeah, for half my steak to be completely raw and room temperature and five potato wedges bigger than my finger and not even fully cooked at that, not worth the $51. For being the most expensive thing on the Lunch menu, not worth it. I should've just gotten the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich. Good interior design too, a bit loud inside due to the AC but otherwise, just stop there to fill your water bottle and use the restroom. read more

The patio area is very shaded and pretty relaxing you can enjoy seeing the water and families enjoy their time. We got the chef special of the day which was the wagu burger and also got the nachos. We also got a drink which was pretty good and the food over all was great i had no complaints. I had a great experience, our waiter was super informative. We finally got to dine at Restaurant 1858. Last time we visited Seven Falls, the restaurant closed early for a private event. The onion rings were definitely worth the visit alone - they have a bbq dry seasoning on them. They tasted like an onion ring version of bbq chips. Soooo good. My husband and I both got the trout but different preparations. We were both underwhelmed with our meals. My friend, however, got the steak and frites which was absolutely delicious. I'd definitely get the steak next time. The frites were more like potatoes wedges with the same bbq seasoning as the onion rings. The dining experience was very nice and slow paced. Our server, Sydney, provided five-star service. She was definitely worth the automatic 20% gratuity. I do have mixed feelings about auto gratuity, but I really can't complain since service was A+. We ate here for dinner when we got rained out during our exploring the Seven Falls Waterfall. We had to wait 30min while the restaurant was setting up for dinner at 5pm. The ambiance was quiet and cozy. Our waiter was Nick and he was awesome and kind. It seems as though they change their menu often upon asking Nick about dish recommendations. After our order was placed; we were served jalapeño cornbread and rolls with house-made butter while we waited. The cornbread was our favorite! For our main course we chose the Wood Grilled Honey Spiced Muscovy Duck Breast $52. The duck and the sides were delicious! I highly recommend it to those who like duck. When visiting Colorado Springs/Seven Falls I'd definitely go back. You can only access the restaurant by shuttle if staying at The Broadmoor Resort or taking the tram up the hill. To my knowledge you have to purchase a Seven Falls admission ticket to get on the property for the $2 tram. I am not sure if different rules apply when staying at the resort. Aside from price, The restaurant food, ambiance, and service were excellent! Reservations were easy to make via OpenTable which I reserved for a party of six (3 couples). I made our reservation with plenty of time to hike up and enjoy all Seven Falls had to offer. The scenic walk up was beautiful and made for memorable pictures. By the time we made it up, we had about 45 minutes till our reservation time. Fortunately, the restaurant was ready for us as we were all ready to eat lunch. We were greeted well coming in and were seated promptly. Our host was welcoming and so was our server, Angela. Angela provided the best service with excellent recommendations which we all took when we ordered. No one at the table was disappointed and we left full and satisfied. The trek and price was worth it! I knew that it was shuttle van ride up to 7 Falls. The ride itself is about 10 minutes to the park and then either a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive. The restaurant had a rustic feel. Lots of historic photos, paintings, even a almost 50-year-old mountain lion! We were warned on our way up that the altitude makes 1 alcoholic drink feel like 2. Those cocktails were well-made! The tough decision was deciding which of the 7 ways to have the trout. Hubby got fried and I went with grilled. I just wish I could've tried them all! We came to this restaurant while staying at the Broadmoor in November. The 1858 is at the base of 7 Falls. It is an easy walk to get to the restaurant. The restaurant is pleasant and welcoming. We had a celiac in our group, and they were very attentive to her needs. We had cocktails, and they were delicious- esp the hot cider. The service was excellent. The food was ok. I'm pretty sure the day we went was not understaffed plus we went after rush hour. We had to wait 10 minutes before seated even though is not full. We had couple apps but end up split the entree- sandwich with fries. Waited for service to get some ketchup. Asked for the ketchup, the waitress said she had to do some outside before she can go to the kitchen. That took long enough time that we already finished the sandwich. Nevermind the fries already cold. When the bill came, she mentioned there is automatic 20% service charge for the FOH staff. I don't mind excellent service for the 20%, but I have issue with 'entitlement' attitude that they deserve it! I've notice more restaurants put a mandatory service charge, the slower they work, the more attitude you get, and less service! First know you will charged a $20 per person entry fee.. The reason this was a surprise is because it was not mentioned when we made the reservation, scheduled from the Broadmoor, and we had not paid this previously. For context, our reservations are at five and we were not able to enjoy the Seven Falls as it was dark. The dining staff was pleasant and the food came out quickly even before we were done with our appetizer, even though it was stated that would be "tiered". The food was average. I have tried two of the fish done seven ways dishes, and the description is more descriptive than the taste. The rice mix was poorly seasoned, bland, the same would be said of the potato hash. The peach and blueberry cobbler was also surprisingly bland, the highlight being the homemade ice cream. How is fruit bland and one has to cut peaches with a knife, bordering on inedible if not for the ice cream. Then we requested a shuttle to return to the broadmoor hotel. Was told it was going to be 8 minutes, okay. The shuttle comes and goes without us being notified. When the hostess as asked about the shuttle, she states she states "we thought you were enjoying the cobbler". We absolutely were not enjoying the cobbler. The shuttle arrives in 8 minutes we wait another 5 for individuals exiting the restaurant. It seemed longer than it was because I wanted get out of that unpleasant experience. Bottom line communication by the hostess staff was atrocious and the food nothing special for Colorado Springs. An experience that started off poorly and got worse. Appetizer dinner two drinks and one dessert $190 plus $40 entrance fee; $230. It's not as though the food was terrible, but the experience was poor. Save your money or Maybe go at noon and see if you have better luck and enjoy the park. read more

Although server was very friendly, each process was ~20 minute wait. From waiting for drinks, ordering food, receiving food, receiving silverware, drink refills. Food unfortunately was a miss for everyone at the table. Food options are limited at the restaurant and the ones they had were not very good. It was extremely pricey for what it was with the taste being so disappointing. It feels like they don't care about taste because they are the only real restaurant there and as such can overcharge for guests for below par food. If you like tortilla soup, don't get it here you will be severely disappointed. Left most of it unfinished. BBQ onion rings are a unique twist on onion rings that starts off good, but ends up being too much after a couple. The BBQ is a little too heavy handed. Here's what I will say- yes it is expensive and yes there is a 20% service fee on your bill that is NOT the tip, it does specifically say it on the menu. I went in with low expectations due to some reviews I read, but I have to say, the food was really good, and the service was phenomenal. We came in with our 3 kiddos and even they ate all their food. The kids meals servings are large, the burger was the same size as my husbands. I have to say, due to the location, you get what you pay for. I can't imagine it's the easiest thing delivering truck orders here so I can understand the service fee. I think this is a must when visiting seven falls. I brought my family. We all enjoyed the walk from the main gate to the restaurant. It's a 0.8 mile hike at about a 3% slope ona paved road - very do-able for all but the folks really needing walking assistance. It took us about 15 minutes to make the hike with a few stops along the way. The burger was good. My wife enjoyed the quinoa bowl. 1858 has a kids menu with some good selections for your kiddos. Alex Busch is the Manager; we were lucky and he was also waiting a few tables the day we came and he took very good care of us. Also ask him about his 'manners for kids' class. The only negative was the 20% included service charge. I prefer staff to be motivated by delivering good service, rather than knowing they get a 20% tip no matter what. If servers are not making enough, then the owners should pay them a higher hourly wage and still let patrons decide how much to tip. The service was good and certainly worthy of 20% (we tipped in addition to that amount). Still, mine is a 5-star review and I highly recommend you come eat here and enjoy the hike. read more

When they say it is located in the grandest mile of scenery in all of Colorado they are not exaggerating. I challenge anyone who cannot say the view outside the rear of the restaurant is nothing short of spectacular. As far as the food goes, it is as good if not better than the view. We had the tomato tortilla soup and the chopped seven falls salad. The cilantro lime dressing accompanying the salad was potentially award winning. The salad had super fresh, delicious ingredient. The soup was flavorful and tasty. Met the sous chef and the GM and they were very pleasant and nice to talk to. Would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone including those who may be mobility limited. We recently visited this restaurant and found the food good, the ambiance good, and the service exceptional....so why am I not immediately recommending it? It has to do with a surprise 20% service charge that we were not informed of before the bill, nor was it in the menu, nor did we find it posted in the restaurant. I guess it's now standard at this establishment. We are not wealthy people, so we calculated what it would cost for food and taxes before going....but we had no idea about this "service charge". We thought this might be the tip, but we found out different. This is a charge that the company can decide to share with employees, or simply keep it for themselves.. This was taken to arbitration and to court apparently by employees, and a court said it was not a tip, and didn't need to be shared with employees - I believe it was kicked back to arbitration. The food prices are not low to begin with, so this adds significantly to the cost. What I do know is that I'm certainly not leaving a tip, if the company (The Broodmoor own it) is going to charge me 20% for service regardless.... I felt sorry for the service personnel - since it's not clear whether they get any of this or not. From my research, they might get some of the service charge, or they might get none. It's really murky, but the company is not required to give the employees any of it. Should you go? It depends if you don't mind adding 20% to every dollar you spend, and then being expected to leave a tip too! It seems like if people knew the true cost, they might find the cost a bit high... Hike to restaurant is relaxing, beautiful and let's you know you are at altitude. Question is whether to eat first or hike up seven falls. Hike is 300 steps up falls or about 250 to viewing deck. I got the nachos without avocado or sour cream. As nachos go, it was off. The cheese wasn't very good and the meat was more like clumps not distributed on all the nachos. Drinks were creative. The La Violet was a nice tequila tini. When in the park, will definitely come back, just will order differently. read more

Restaurant 1858 is situated at the base of Seven Falls. We got to the park early to hike around and go up and down the 224 steps of the falls. We rewarded ourselves w/ lunch at the restaurant. One of our servers during our stay at the Ranch at Emerald Valley, Jenn, told us she also works at Restaurant 1858 and spoke highly of the trout. We ordered the Western Slope trout which was granola crusted and served w/ a peach chutney. It was cooked perfectly and delicious!!! We also ordered the Hiker's Salad with beets, kale, granola, etc. it was a well balanced salad and perfectly dressed. It was a great last meal for our stay at the Broadmoor properties. Food was small amounts for the money. We got nachos for appetizers and it was a very small amount of nachos, had more chips for free before any meal at a Mexican restaurant, not worth the price At all. Then Brussels sprouts appetizers which was actually a bunch of them and good But like $14. 3 of us ordered sodas and were $6 each. I ordered a refill soda and it was $6 For a refill soda. So 2 appetizers 3 sodas was $64. And then when the waitress brought the bill she said btw there is a 20% fee that is Broadmor requirement. After you ask for the check they tell u this. I paid $23 per person to get in the park. I dont owe the Broadmoor anything and if u want to charge me a fee, let me know before u charge me Or make it part of the entrance fee. They have your hands tied behind your back after u have already eaten your food and drank there "soda". Beautiful place and servers were great but never eat at 1858 again and will do nothing at broadmor again either.
