My parents have been coming here in recent months for the fine dining. Though Anise is not doing that right now, they are doing a special evening with many appetizers, wine and entertainment. We jumped at the chance to do Brunch at Anise today and Megan didn't disappoint. We started off with Beet and Burrata appetizer, with Grapefruit, pistachios, Arugula with Tarragon Vinaigrette it was absolutely amazing, super fresh and so incredibly good , perfect flavors, I ordered a Bison Filet with chimichurri, super tender and exploded with flavor, my wife ordered ham and cheese crepes with poached egg and hollandaise sauce, which was about the same in deliciousness, we finished off with Nutella Crepes with Bananas and strawberries and a goat cheese cheesecake with fresh huckleberries, everything was on point, everything was over the top with flavor and finesse, if you find yourself in Granbury looking for brunch stop by and you're flavor experience will reach new levels. read more

I found this Granbury restaurant on yelp and thought we would give it a try. We were really impressed by the ambience, service, and unbelievable food. Between six people, we had lamb, scallops, steak, swordfish and duck. Two of us ordered the scallops on butternut squash puree w greens... it was SO DELICIOUS that we canceled the next evenings reservations, to eat at ANISE again. Upon our Saturday night, (second) visit, the chef added veal, so that we might have a different option. This is a small restaurant and the city of Granbury does not allow any signage. This review is about service and customer satisfaction at Anise. Please look at the picture I attached regarding a message I just received 12/26/2024 from Megan the owner of Anise regarding a review I wrote two years ago. Some of our friends were talking about Anise and encouraged us to visit . So I made a reservation for my wife and I and went there on a Friday. When I got my Amex statement a month later the statement charge did not match the amount I remembered so I found out that I had been charged twice for a jar of honey I purchased. In Megan's Yelp message she said my review is made up because she would remember it. Well I can remember it clearly that the meal was expensive, a long way from 5 stars and the best part of the meal being the honey. The honey was in fact so good that I wanted to buy some and was double charged for it. So I wrote a letter to Anise and included the receipt and requested a refund. After a week or so, I got a reply letter saying it had been too long for a refund and offered no apology. By the way, I am a UT grad, native Texan, veteran, and owner of two separate software companies which we built and sold, and after I retired from business I drove special needs school buses for GISD (certainly not for the money). In my opinion Megan care more about her ego than her customers satisfaction. Go Horns. read more

I am so sorry to say dinner at Anise was a huge and costly disappointment. We were celebrating our anniversary and were looking forward to a delicious meal. The reviews are very excellent and we had high hopes. I ordered the lobster which was a simple presentation on mashed potatoes. The lobster was so chewy, it was difficult to eat. It had no flavor and was terrible. The mashed potatoes were so salty - a difficult feet for potatoes - they were nearly inedible. The meal was over priced and terrible. Very impressed with what Chef Megan is doing here. For a small town like Granbury this slightly off the beaten path place is a gem to be treasured. Covid - tables are well separated, waitstaff are masked. It's a friendly and inviting space, soft music in the background and consistent pleasant service. A starter of whipped goat cheese with pepper honey and lavash really set the tone. Absolutely delicious. The menu changes monthly, so describing the dishes we had isn't very meaningful. First courses were lamb croquettes and a sort of caesar salad with serrano ham. Mains were bison and ostrich (she seems to lean to the exotic, but not exclusively), and each dish was composed and prepared beautifully. Be adventurous here, don't just order whatever looks "safe" to you; Megan will not let you down. Desserts were excellent as well. If we lived a bit closer we would absolutely have a standing monthly reservation. As it's a bit far for us, Anise and Megan will be another reason to travel to Granbury as often as possible. read more

My wife selected Restaurant Anise to celebrate our 33rd anniversary. She has some food sensitivities, so she called the restaurant a few days in advance and the chef was able to modify some of their dishes to be both dairy free and gluten free. The chef also offered to make a custom dessert for her. The dining room only has about 10 tables, but is both elegant and intimate. The servers were friendly, attentive, and very helpful. My wife enjoyed the chilled avocado soup with braised rabbit, frutti di mare, and a poached pear for dessert. I had the mixed greens, bison strip loin, and meat and cheese plate for dessert. The mixed greens were light and flavorful with bacon, blue cheese, and a soft-boiled egg. My bison was perfectly cooked and accompanied by roasted carrots, Yukon mash, and fava beans. My dessert was a flavorful meat and cheese plate. All of our dishes were artistically plated - making dinner an experience for the eyes, nose, and taste buds. Restaurant Anise has a fairly small menu, as it is a small restaurant, but chef Megan Potts changes the menu monthly to provide variety. Great little gem in Granbury, TX. Stopped in tonight for a solo dinner. Started with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and a chef's offering of crisp lavash with a whipped goat cheese spread. The cheese sat in a pool of honey and aleppo pepper. More than an amuse bouche, but not too heavy, it was a nice start to the meal. I let my server know that I was attending an event after dinner and asked that my order be fired at the same time, because I didn't have extra time for good pacing. They were happy to accommodate- the service was kind, efficient, knowledgeable, and professional throughout. I ordered the roasted garlic soup, the monkfish, and the citrus cheesecake. The soup was thick and creamy, packed with the mellow, sweet richness of roasted garlic. Topped with crispy garlic chips and marcona almonds, the contrast in textures added interest and depth. Perfect soup for the cooler temps of fall. The monkfish! Wow! Perfectly prepared. Monkfish can be difficult to get right. Too long and it's rubbery. Not filleted and cleaned property, and it's tough. As it should be, the fish was the star of the dish- supple verging on unctuous- it was silky with great mouth feel. The accompanying veggies brought in some different dimensions of flavor and proved once again that someone in the kitchen has a deft hand with textures and spices. Toasty pine nuts, sweet bits of golden raisin, creamy chickpeas, fresh baby spinach, and tiny little morsels of cauliflower rounded out the plate nicely. If I had to change anything, I'd add a splash of fresh lemon on the fish to bring a little acid, but honestly, I cleaned my plate, which isn't really indicative of needing change, right? I had requested my cheesecake to go, so I didn't eat that until after I had arrived back home a few hours later. Do. Not. Skip. Dessert. Sweet baby Jeebus y'all, that cheesecake... I was skeptical at first. It was topped with a gelatinous orange layer, and I wasn't sure what the texture or flavor would be. Let me tell you- it may have been my favorite part of the meal. It was light as air, and the burst of bright orange flavor was like a punch to the face! Unfortunately, my kiddos were around, so I had to share a couple of bites. My oldest commented that she would love to have a dish of the orange "jello" all by itself. Although I also enjoyed the cheesecake, especially that crust, I totally agreed with her. Our group had a little of everything on the menu from crab cake (w/o peppers or other filler) 3 in our group d them, onion soup (caramelized onions were puréed) & now I don't think I could have onion soup the other way. Grouper was tender yet a nice fond on the outside w. garlic rice & coconut was my favorite. Pork special looked amazing & my nephew thoroughly enjoyed it. Lobster & Bay scallops were had by 2 in our party & the plates were clean @ the end of the meal. Wine selection has numerous gr8 bottles. Anise in small in size but huge in flavor. Well worth the drive, tolls, and petrol. Drove over 100 miles recently to try this restaurant, after stumbling across it accidentally. Restaurant Anise reminded me why I fell in love with Texas. It's absolutely outstanding, and yet incredibly humble. As it just so happened, on the way into this restaurant, the door was held open for me by another guest for what seemed like an eternity (even by Texas standards) - probably 10-15 seconds. It was longer than just courtesy or manners would merit, and really made me feel that people genuinely care. That simple, but heartwarming gesture, really embodies the spirit of this place. The ambiance is so personal, caring, and unpretentious I almost felt as if I was dining in a friend's home. Most fine dining restaurants use custom pottery to dress their dishes up, whereas here I felt like the plates themselves were not even worthy. A wonderful experience and evening. read more

I had been wanting to try Restaurant Anise for some time, and our anniversary seemed to be the perfect occasion. Suffice to say we won't be waiting for the next anniversary to return. This will become a monthly (at least!) regular for us! Since The Loft in Granbury closed at the end of 2011, we've missed having a local restaurant that changed up its menu regularly, for much needed variety. Chef Megan Potts has a new menu every month, with three each of appetizers, entrees, and desserts to choose from (a la carte pricing), plus a good selection of wine and beer. There was also an unexpected small appetizer featuring whipped goat cheese, local honey, and aleppo pepper. Just enough to create anticipation for the rest of the meal. I love cold soups (especially at midsummer!) and the cucumber cantaloupe with a touch of halloumi cheese, jamón serrano, and marcona almonds did not disappoint. A little salt and creaminess to blend with the sweetness of the cantaloupe and tang of cucumber, all of which I could clearly taste. My spouse had squash blossoms stuffed with house-made ricotta, and an eggplant caponata with pine nuts. All I can say is wow. I was pleasantly surprised with how generous the portions were. I chose the Madagascar blue prawns with clams, hand-cut pasta, green garlic almond pesto, summer squash, and local mushrooms for my entrée. My husband had the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin with spiced plum gastrique, local green beans, and caramelized cauliflower. Such great combinations of flavors! We had enough to take home for the next night's dinner. We finished with chocolate hazelnut ganache with espresso mousse, and lemon génoise cake with lemon curd, fresh berries, and crème Chantilly. Both were light and airy, with just enough sweetness to please yet not overwhelm our already satisfied stomachs, with some extra kick from the toppings, espresso bean pieces on the ganache and lemon rind on the cake. The restaurant is off the beaten path and intimate, seating only 24. During our dinner, lively yet low-key music with lyrics in Spanish and French was playing, complimenting the menu. This is a dining experience not to be missed in a small Texas town. read more

This is one of the most delicious meals we've ever had! Truly, the quality of the food is on par with Michelin star restaurants we've tried. We got lucky thanks to the other reviews and decided to give this a try. We live in Fort Worth but will absolutely be back! The menu changes monthly but for tonight, I had the red curry soup that I'll likely dream about and the best Salmon I've ever tasted. I finished the evening with citrus lavender creme brûlée which was the perfect end to the meal. My husband had the frisée salad, veal tenderloins with amazing mushrooms and potatoes. He completed his meal with the chocolate mousse for dessert which was an excellent blend of chocolates and the perfect portion size! Service was excellent thanks to our server, Brittany! Presentation was great, food quality was exceptional and taste was out of this world. And the wines that accompanied each course were spot on, which greatly contributed to an exceptional experience overall. This is only the second time we have dined here, but it certainly will not be the last. The first course and the dessert course were so good, didn't get a chance to photograph them!
