Today, 2/1/25, this restaurant charged our family for 3 strips of Schnitzel and fries $24 for a kid. Upon inquiring about the surprisingly high prize the server (Megan) became rather upset and not customer friendly at this time. The rest of the meals were between $8-$12 per meal and a kids meal Portion was twice that price. May be while discussing an option for a kids friendly meal be kind enough to mention the prize as to not bring out an outrageous bill. Also it would have been cheaper to purchase a schnitzel meal and add an order of fries or share fries vs this out of nowhere $24 charge for three tiny strips of schnitzel and a handful of fries. Mind blowing how a business can get away with such prize gauging. Will Not recommend this restaurant to any friends nor soccer family passing by Bradenton. Not worth the hassle nor poor customer service with attitude. Very disappointed and I feel bad for I suggested the restaurant as a post soccer game option to my family on our way home. Totally sad and disappointed that our overall experience Was less than satisfactory. read more

Nice little German restaurant in the heart of Bradenton. The food was very good and full of flavor. Service was great as well. Though it was a too chilly to sit out there, they have a nice little outdoor seating area as well. We definitely enjoyed everything about this restaurant and will return. read more

Ambiance typical of German restaurants in the area as was the beer and wine selection. We started with the house soup which was tasty, but with too much fat in it. We both had rouladen with spatzel and red beet sour cabbage. Thee rouladen we would rank as third among area resturants. the bacon was virtually uncooked and the meat was tough....the cabbage was far too tart, barely consumable and the poor spatzel was well, just there. The place was crowded a very loud because of two large dinner parties on a Satuday night. Our server, a young Brazilian lady was the highlight of the evening. Engaging, efficient and with a great smile sho took great care of us. You an do better at two other German restaurants in the area. read more

Small, cottage-feel inside, outdoor seating available as well. Kind of an odd experience, primarily because of our server. Potato pancakes were decent - different than any I've ever had before. They didn't have pan fried potatoes or pork chops tonight. Our food took quite awhile to come out; we suspect our order wasn't given to the kitchen, as the other tables that came in after us were almost finished by the time our meals arrived. Partner got the Chicken Schnitzel - it was tender but lacked flavor . I had Hungarian Goulash with red cabbage. Nothing knocked our socks off, to be honest. Omg. The schnitzel was huge!! The hunter had a delicious mushroom sauce. So tender! Delish!! The schweinshaxe pork shank was fabulous. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. The sauce was great. The pan fried potatoes - great flavor. Loved both the German potato salad (hot) and the sauerkraut. The sampler platter had schnitzel, sauerbraten, roulade, and red cabbage and the side of the bread dumpling was delish. That diner was also very happy!! This was so good we think it's worth driving an hour to come ck!!! COVID UPDATE: Make reservations as seating is very limited. The pretzel stand was great! For those interested in the short version of the motivation on why I left this review for Restaurant Edelweiss: I don't know if I've EVER had better German food in my life. For those seeking the in-depth motivation for this review, please allow me to try and leverage all my literary abilities and deploy every adjective in my vernacular in an attempt to do a justice to this wonderfully authentic German experience... THE FOOD: 5 stars out of 5. Not fancy, just exactly authentic and beyond satisfying for what my expectations were for flavor, presentation, and potions. There are an abundance of schnitzel choices, varying proteins and all the German veggies you hope for... the potato salad and purple cabbage are my fave. For the protein you absolutely cannot go wrong with the Cordon Bleu schnitzel. While I was having their lunch portion and enjoying the explosion of flavors on my experienced palate I closed my eyes and it felt for a moment as-if I was in Germany. THE PRICE: 5 stars out of 5 for value. This place isn't any more expensive than a decent steakhouse. $20 for a great lunch and probably $30ish for dinner. Great price and there's not been one time I've opted to save money instead of getting this place EVERY. TIME. I. CAN. THE ATMOSPHERE: 5 of 5 stars, not lacking anything I would want to experience for a tremendous meal and experience. This place is clean, they have a beer garden, the people and service are wonderful, the chefs are apparently trained by only the best German chefs in the history of everything ever... just that good. CONS: none worth dinging an overall 5.0 rating. If I had it my way maybe they extend hours. If they do that though, the chefs probably wouldn't be as happy and you can tell they're clearly really happy when they cook their food because it tastes that good. BONUS: I've been here a lot, both for dinner and lunch. Every time the food is equally enjoyable and memorable. DO ALL YOU CAN TO CATCH THE LIVE MUSIC! They have two gentleman who play multiple instruments (different nights, they're not a duet) and interact with the crowd in a manner all ages and walks of life enjoy. Lastly: I don't think I've ever wrote a review quite this long. I'm not going to go back and proofread it because this has already taken forever. Show Geschmeckt! I was able to sneak in for dinner on my own and enjoyed a lovely Hunter's Schnitzel (Jager) which was perfectly prepared and cooked. While he one of the youngest here it was still enjoyable. The park however is tight but that makes it seem all that much more legitimate as most places in Germany have the same issue. The decor was nice with many photos of Germany up on the walls with tradition East and West Germany flags adorning the ceiling. The Polk Music was on break while I was there and he was enjoying his dinner at the bar. read more

It's great food. We sat at the table in the back by the door to the Biergarten, every time the door opened the sun flashes like lightning. it was blinding and migraine inducing. it could easily be fixed by putting a film of shade on the window. read more

This is hands down THE best German restaurant I've eaten at since I was in Germany. Pork shanks... roulade... schnitzel... bratwurst...they had it all. It is now one of our "regulars". They serve their beer by the litre or half. Biergarten is available when the weather is nice. The dining room is perfect, and our server paid us special attention. IMO 4.5 out of 5 stars for a fun, casual dining experience. Went to Restaurant Edelweiss on 64 in Bradenton for the second time and it was just as good as the first. I'm a sucker for the sampler platter which consisted of schnitzel, roulade and sauerbraten with warm red cabbage and spaetzle. Both my fiancé and I got samplers while our 6yo opted for the pork shank which was fork tender and the bone pulled clean out of the meat. He loved the meat and potatoes but wasn't a huge fan of the sauerbraten however I thought it was quite good. The ambiance is cute and quaint with the waitresses dressed in German drindl dresses. We had the pleasure of being serenaded by an accordion player who I believe is only there on the weeknights and doing the "Chicken Dance" with the waitress at the end of the night. I highly suggest you make reservations as I believe there are only 10 tables inside the restaurant however there's also a Biergarten outside if you can brave the heat (I cannot lol). Really the only negatives are that it could use some freshening up aesthetically and the beer wasn't as cold as we could've liked it. But nevertheless we'll definitely be back the next time we're craving schnitzel and spaetzle!! read more

The atmosphere here was kind of neat the little patio was okay if it's not too hot and they put some effort into making the building look Germanic. You can get a couple of good basic German beers always a good quality, always a crowd-pleaser especially in a Stein. Beyond a good place to sit in the air conditioning I was not overly impressed with either the service or the food my food was not particularly well done nor was it very tasty and the service I received was passable at best. I normally give a place several tries but for what I paid I did not believe the food was worth a second try at that price point. read more

They have a beautiful Biergareten also. I tried the sausage sampler with saurkraut and German Potato salad. My friend had chicken snitzel, red cabbage and German Potato salad. We all went here for Mother's Day. We had veal and it melted in our mouths. The service was excellent and the music made us feel like we were in Europe. I'm not exactly sure how I have not reviewed my favorite German restaurant outside of Germany, before now, but I have apparently been remiss. Unfortunately during this pandemic, I have not been able to venture out much, but I decided that the first place I wanted to try was Restaurant Edelweiss. If I were to have to name my favorite restaurant in the entire Tampa Bay area this place would be it. I think were I on death row they would have to make my last meal. HaHaHa!!! Yes, I love it THAT much. if I close my eyes when I taste their schnitzel, I would think I was back in Germany, where I was lucky to live for a few years. I cannot remember how long I have been going to this restaurant but it has been years and years and it is consistently delicious. I would dare say I have tried everything on their menu at this point but my all-time favorite is still the Schnitzel Cordon Bleu. Mmmmm! It comes with the mushroom sauce but I always get that on the side because the Schnitzel is so big I always have to take part of it home. And with the sauce on the side, it stays nice and crunchy/crispy. Everything is made to order, so you are best served not going in, if you are in a hurry. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended because this place is popular, and usually busy. With Covid restrictions, it is even more necessary. Great service and spectacular food means there is no reason not to try this place, if you like German food or are curious about authentic European cuisine. read more

I have to say this is one of the best German places that I have been to in a long time. We started with a pretzel stand and this is where I have my biggest complaint the pretzels felt like they were frozen not fresh but they served it with three different sauces one of them being an orange garlic dip which was like crack. I ordered the "Kaiser" schnitzel which comes in a lemon caper sauce with mashed potatoes and broccoli it was so good, so moist and super big. We also ordered some potato pancakes which with the orange garlic sauce were fantastic. I enjoyed the white sangria that wasn't too sweet. Currently due to Covid they are asking for reservations if you don't have one they have a big table next to the door to sit at or at the bar if there's not too many people there. This restaurant will take you back to old school germany! From the second you walk in you will feel like you are in Germany. They have huge steins of German beer and the typical German menu. We went for lunch and were pleased to see that there where plenty of lunch portion options on the menu. We decided on two different types of schnitzel, pretzels, spatzl and goulash soup. The pretzels were hot and delicious, served with a honey mustard dipping sauce. Both schnitzels were delicious in their different ways. The Berlin schnitzel was breaded in pretzels and mustard and tasted great. The Wiener schnitzel was crispy and tasted great with the gravy. We loved the German potato salad as well! The spatzl was buttery and tasted great with a little bit of the schnitzel gravy on top. Next time we are in Bradenton, we will definitely be stopping in! read more

BEST SPAETZLE EVER!!! In America at least-- that I've had so far, and I live in the SF Bay Area! I don't have a photo to add other than a half finished beer since the beer (especially the Köstritzer!!!) was cold and refreshing from the tap. Environment was quaint and as German as Florida gets i am pretty sure. Didn't even care, especially once the food arrived. Hungarian goulash on point! If you haven't had goulash it's like American pot roast on steroids. Just sayin' Sauerkraut was the red cabbage kind-- with so much flavor you don't even know it's fermented!!! My waitress was hard at work constantly keeping up with lunch traffic on her own -- Eddie is a gorgeous German woman who fits the ambience perfectly! She is excellent at her job.. and served in a European way of serving in her authentic and efficient way :) love her! (other reviews not liking her are driven by impatience and lack of understanding and empathy I feel) They kicked the keg of the amazing beer and I asked her for a small lager instead and she brought out two tiny glasses with both lagers they carry! I love German food and this place hit the mark. Myself and 4 family members (who have never eaten authentic German food) went just recently and it was a big hit for all of us! I had the sausage sampler, I love weissewurst and there's was top of the line. Other family members ordered different dishes and we all sampled each other's. The pork shank was 'Awesome' per my nephew, the Hungarian Gulash was rarest per my niece, she said it made her feel like she was eating something she had in her past and brought back memories...I tasted and completely agreed. Service was good, the waitress/bartender was super nice and funny. The restaurant had live German music and the old guy was hilarious and interactive. Traditional German restaurant in Bradenton? Heck yes, Edelweiss is for real. Outstanding German cuisine with a large menu and great German beers. Understated, warm atmosphere and immaculate. Sat at the bar and engaged with the friendly bartender. Ordered the very large and spot on Schweinhaxe. It was delicious and came with expertly seasoned sauerkraut and braised red cabbage. Edelweiss is committed to having the finest of the finest German beer on tap(Hofbrau, Hacker-Pschorr, Paulaner) and they even had 2 Octoberfest beers on tap.
