Birthday Dinner! An amazing choice for any and all celebrations. My BF chose Restaurant Latour for my birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. Upon arrival we were greeted and shown to our table where a bouquet of flowers awaited. This dining experience was pretty close to perfection. I cannot believe it's taken us so long to get here. Part of the hesitation was certainly some doubt that this place could be as stellar as it was right here in NJ! So for all of you foodies, it's worth the trek if you don't live close by. They don't overbook the reservations so you can expect a spacious table, a quiet romantic vibe and amazing service. That said, it was probably a bit sleepy on this particular evening. We opted for two wine pairings between the four of us, each one shared between couples. I have no idea how this spot has ever gotten a bad review. The food and presentation was excellent, the ambiance was great, and the service was above and beyond. Everything had an extra special touch. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and made the meal even more fun. The two tone kaluga caviar was absolutely incredible. I also highly recommend the chocolate mousse and fish. The scallop udon is a signature dish and I can see why, but it wasn't my favorite part of the meal. The drinks were also excellent. Restaurant Latour is quite an experience. My wife and and stayed at the Grand Cascade Lodge for a skiing birthday weekend for her and I decided what better way to celebrate that Restaurant Lator. Our meal ended costing more than the actual room, so be prepared to spend a lot. With gratuity our meal was about $450 for two people. We both agreed that we are glad we did the wine paring. Without the wine pairing the food may be almost be a little forgettable. But the sommelier was exceptional and brought the entire meal up a notch. He's only in his twenties but is amazingly informative and made sure the entire meal flowed well. He said his father was also a sommelier so it must run in the family. Service was definitely on par with the cost and everyone on the team did a commendable job. Each course came with an intricate explanation as to what was on the dish. Restaurant Lator is not the kind of restaurant that you visit frequently (unless you have a lot of disposable income and I don't mind the same menu time after time) but it's definitely a place we would visit again for a special occasion. read more

From the time we entered Latour we were warmly welcomed. Phillip gave us some sparkling wine to start our meal and answered our questions about the food and beautiful decor. I can't say enough positive things about this restaurant so I'll just start at the beginning. The waiter presented us with a cocktail menu and wine list. Their wine list is the largest in the northeast. You have a choice of a 4 course tasting or a 7 course tasting with or without wine pairing. Since it was our 15th wedding anniversary we decided in the 7 course tasting with wine pairing. I will post pictures of all the food and wine for each course. Amuse buche - a fried oyster in lobster bisque sauce topped with caviar paired with sparkling rose. I made a terrible mistake, I stayed at cascades and at at the restaurant I thought was Latour.. WHAT A MISTAKE. Latour is one of the finest restaurants I've dined at. I had a brunch there that was just ok. I also had an anniversary dinner there that was nice...I give it a 7 out of 10.. The only thing I remember was the scallops and that I was still hungry when I got home. Service the second time was great. The view is fantastic. Latour is not just a restaurant, it's definitely a great experience with excellent food, excellent service and the ambiance is wonderful. We had the pleasure of enjoying the Chef's 7 course Tasting Menu. Each and every course was very enjoyable, unlike any other dishes we have ever had and on another level. My favorite was the beef wagyu. Blake was one of our servers and was just a pleasure with his poise, knowledge of the menu and his great smile. Trevor was our sommelier who presented the perfect wine pairing choices with each one of our 7 courses. Phil the Manager was also a delight and visited our table several times during the evening to ensure everything was to our liking. We've dined here twice and have not been disappointed either time. I echo another reviewer's comments about this being an experience; it really is. Our recent reservation was for 8pm on a Friday in August, which allowed us to still have a beautiful sunset view. There are only 12 tables in the restaurant and you have a perfect view of the landscape wherever you sit. I did also sneak outside to take a few photos before or dinner started, which was nice. We chose the 7 course with wine pairing, which did not disappoint. Every single course was so carefully crafted, and each bite delicious. The service was attentive and pleasant. Whenever we had questions, any one of the staff had the answer. I loved how part of the dessert were a few pieces of wrapped chocolate so we could take a litttle piece of heaven home with us to enjoy the next day. It's not a modestly priced meal by any means, but you do get what you pay for. We look forward to going back for another treat in a few years' time. read more

I might be biased because I came here with my girlfriend who used to work at the resort - but as a first time visitor I was blown away. We came here first and foremost to dine at Restaurant Latour. I had been hearing about it all week so the bar was set pretty high. I'll get right into it - we were greeted right away by Phillip who led us to the main dining room and offered us a cocktail while we waited for our table. The cocktail program is SO fun - all locally foraged materials which lended itself not only to the creativity of the program but they tasted so good. We knew we were already going to do the 7-course tasting menu (worth it) and while my girlfriend and I would typically not opt for the wine pairing we decided to give it a go. Trevor (our sommelier) was so spot on with each wine and so passionate about the pairings -we didn't regret not getting that bottle of Vina Real 2010 that we had eyed at lunch while perusing the wine list. The food is A+++. Creative, but delicious. Inventive - not cliché at all with zero predictability. The vegetarian forward 2nd course Parsnip was my dish of the night. While definitely a lengthy experience (certainly not rushed), it leaves you thinking about each dish after you've licked the plate clean. Chef Ashlyn and Chef Matt are truly at the helm of the food scene, not just in NJ. The whole team - made us comfortable, made us laugh, and most importantly made our night unforgettable. I promise you will not leave hungry. For the price of a tasting menu in NYC or Napa Valley - you will have just as beautiful dining experience and spend half price. read more

My wife and I went to Restaurant Latour for dinner tonight. We always enjoy the food there and tonight was no exception. We've been there over a dozen times. Unfortunately, they charge more for a credit card payment than for cash. I don't normally carry $500 plus when I go to dinner. I recommend you bring lots of cash if you eat here. The credit card fees have been built in to their pricing for over 20 years so it's surprising that they would add a fee now. I tipped in cash like I usually do. I can't have them making money on the tip too. As much as we like the place, we won't be back. read more

After my wife experienced mediocre service at the Elements Spa, we worried that our meal at Latour would follow suit. Instead we were blown away by the service and cuisine that you would expect at a Michelin starred NY restaurant. I hereby lobby for a Michelin Star for Latour as it is well deserved. The dining experience was perfection and I would place it in the top 10 meals that I've even eaten in my life. The 8 course meal provided not one down moment, which is extremely rare, as everything had bold flavors and was cooked to perfection. My wife is a picky eater and the chef had no problem coming up with amazing substitute dishes. It was an amazing evening and I would highly recommend Latour to anyone. Please ignore poor ratings !! We had an out of this world experience while staying at grand cascades, crystal springs. My wife and I have dined at quite a few very high end restaurants and this place is by far one of our top restaurants we have been to. If you are looking to be treated like a king and have a Michelon star rated service than this is the place for you ! Very small and intimate establishment with very well trained and educated staff. I can't say enough great things about this place. We did the 7 course tasting menu and WOW is all I can say. The chef knocked each of the 7 dishes out of the park ! I booked a weekend at Crystal Springs resort after speaking with a manager about Restaurant Latour. She assured me that this was the best restaurant at the resort for accommodating my wife's gluten and dairy allergies. Since this was a birthday gift for my wife, I wanted it to be perfect. The day before our reservation, a lady called to confirm my reservation, at which point I again asked about allergies and was assured the chef would be able to customize the dishes according to my wife's dietary restrictions. Tonight, we got all dressed up, and headed for the restaurant, eager to try their seven-course meal and celebrate my love's birthday in style. We were seated, and service was very good. Until it came time to choose from the menu. The first thing we were told was that we wouldn't be able to choose from the seven course menu, so we had to choose from the $120 three course menu instead. Oh, and the third course on that menu? She wouldn't be able to eat any of the choices from there, except for a fruit plate. A $40 fruit plate. The icing on the cake was the expired soda they served me. At least the waiter was able to get us a table at the lobby bistro after 40 minutes at this place. That's the only reason for the extra star. Sitting at the bistro now, waiting for our meals. Clearly, the manager with whom I spoke was more interested in up-selling me on a restaurant that would've run up a $600+ bill (which by the way, I've never done but was more than willing for this special occasion) than to make sure my wife's dietary needs were met. After canceling a trip abroad because of Covid my wife and I decided they're going to play golf at Crystal Springs would not be a bad idea for five days. In booking the restaurants I saw a restaurant LaToure and knew it would be an expensive experience but after discussing it we decided what the heck and proceed . We were absolutely amazed at the quality of food and the wonderful service provided. There was not one ounce of disappointment and one course was better than the next. The staff is knowledgeable and delightful and the maître d' is a pleasure . I had an exquisite experience here. I do not use the word experience lightly. It was more than a meal. I wasn't sure what to expect considering the negative reviews, but it was more than I had hoped for. I had been curious about this place for years and decided to try it for my recent birthday. As I expected from the other reviews, I had to wait to be escorted upstairs after the hostess at the Crystal Tavern called upstairs. Our host arrived promptly and brought us to the 12-table dining room. Shortly after we arrived the window shade was raised allowing us to view the golf course and the sunset. You have two options at this place. You can have 5 courses with a few options for each course, or you can do the 7-course chef's menu. Since I can be a bit picky, I went for the 5 course. There is a vegetable course, a fish course, a meat course, a cheese course, and a dessert course. As I said, I'm picky, so I said I didn't like fish. I was allowed to have another vegetable course as a substitute. I had roasted carrots with hazelnuts and nettle ravioli. The latter was a bit too salty, but otherwise both courses were delicious. I opted for the wine pairing and that really brought the meal over the top. Each wine was perfectly paired and the staff explained to me in great detail what the wine was like and why it was selected. My husband didn't do the wine pairing (he was driving) but they gave him a glass of the dessert wine anyway. I discovered some wonderful new wines. The pace was leisurely (dinner took about 3 hours) but the service never felt slow. The dinner was an event in itself. I was well fed and thoroughly entertained. I do hope to come back here at some point. My husband saw how much I enjoyed the wine course that he said we have to come back and stay at the resort so he can have the pairing too and not have to drive home. read more

The restaurant was very intimate and pretty. It was snowing outside too so the view out the window was incredibly picturesque. The service was very professional and relaxed. So far so good! We had the vegetarian tasting menu. It was simply not up to scratch. Very very disappointing food. It was quite expensive, which I don't mind if the food is good but it wasn't up to standard. I woke up in this beautiful hotel the next morning and just felt ripped off. I felt everything was really good except the food. It's just not acceptable for that price. I had better vegetarian food in a farmers market in Edinburgh Scotland the following week for $10. I should have saved myself the best part of $500 and not bothered. Really disappointed. read more

I have to say, this place left me a little underwhelmed. Based on reviews I was expecting the best meal of my life, but I don't think that was the case. As with most fine dining establishments, you were limited to a 3 course menu for $75. or an 8 course tasting menu for $115. Looking back, the tasting menu may have been a better option, but since I'm a picky eater, doing the 3 courses worked out better for me. I got the gnocchi to start, which were delicious. They were like little pillows of heaven. My boyfriend got the scallops and liked them. For my entree, I got the steak and he got the veal. It was an enjoyable steak, but nowhere near the best I've even had. My boyfriend really enjoyed his veal. The two dessert options, which were a green tea cake and chocolate/banana combo, were average. The service was excellent. If only the food had been better! The restaurant itself is located within crystal springs, a beautiful golf resort boasting the largest wine collection in the US - worth a visit. Also worth noting is the ecosphere pool, quite possibly the most appealing indoor pool I have been to - made me feel like I was back in Hawaii :) The restaurant itself overlooks the beautiful golf course and has an intimate feel. Service was very pleasant however extremely slow, our dining experience was 4.5 hours long!!! Granted we opted for the tasting menu however too much time in between each course, at times 45 minutes. The food was not memorable at all, in fact it was quite mediocre. For such a costly dining experience it was disappointing. But when my husband took me here for a surprise birthday dinner last week, our experience was even better! We are big foodies, and we normally spend special occasions in NYC where we've gone to Per Se, Le Bernardin or L'Atelier du JR, but due to COVID, we decided to stay local. RL didn't disappoint. They were following COVID restrictions, so it was nice and quiet with only a few occupied tables. We ordered the 7 course meal, and it was a gastronomical delight! RL's ingredients are fresh; purveyed from where they are produced/grown best. The restaurant has been beautifully redecorated. Innovative dishes. Friendly staff. Spectacular and breath-taking views.
