Best restaurant in crystal springs. Very cute outdoor ambiance. Food was the best we had all weekend (which honestly isn't saying that much) but we appreciated it. They usually get booked out so definitely get a reservation for dinner if you're staying here. They were able to take us as walk ins for lunch on a Sunday. It was easily one of the worst meals I've ever paid for. The Pork Milanese was an absolute disaster--charred black on the edges, dried out, and so tough it was nearly impossible to cut with a standard knife. Servers noticed me struggling but offered zero help, not even suggesting a steak knife. Service was minimally polite, but that's irrelevant when the main dish is this inedible. At these prices, this level of failure is unacceptable. I won't be back, and I can't recommend it to anyone. read more

We had a reservation and did not get seated until 30 minutes after our reservation. They said the table wouldn't get up and leave but I think that's their responsibility to make sure to seat a table close to their reservation time. When we did finally get seated we were told by the manager he was sorry and apologized they brought out some extra appetizers because of the inconvenience. The servers were nice, but it didn't seem like we got the best service. Almost 15-20 minutes went by with multiple people being out of water and finally having to flag down someone to point it out even though they had been to the table multiple times. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees at once since we were now running behind but we didn't get our entrees for over an hour after we ordered. The best dish - complementary bread with the veggie spread so delicious! Everything else for our party was just okay. People said the pizza crust was chewy, the meat they got was dry and my pasta was just okay. I wish they had given me a different type of pasta like penne or angel hair rather than this really thick one. We had another reservation after dinner and had hoped we would have a little bit of time in between but because of them being late and slow to bring out everything we barely made it on time and had to flag someone over for the check. The meal my family had tonight is why I don't let some bad reviews stop me from forming my own opinions of a restaurant. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. They started us out with some complimentary toasted sesame bread and two very tasty spreads. We ordered a LOT of food: roasted figs appetizer, frito misto appetizer, crispy brussel sprouts side, creamy polenta side, cast iron sliced bistecca entree, rigatoni entree, amatriciana agnolotti entree, chicken fingers and fries kid meal, buttermilk panna cotta dessert and chocolate torte dessert. My husband and I both ordered Arnold palmers, and my husband ordered a double espresso as well. Everything was delicious. Hands down, one of our best meals. Our waiter, Drew, was incredibly attentive. Our drinks were always filled without request, and he was quick to clear our dishes (of which we had plenty!) Their prices are listed on their online menu, so we knew what to expect when the bill came and were surprised it was just north of $200, given how much we ordered. We have 4 boxes of leftovers. Fantastic service - mediocre food. Our server was awesome. On point and with a table of 11 - he was always available. The food - blah and expensive! No apps, 9 entrees, 3 alcoholic beverages, 2 kids meals ($17 each) and 8 desserts = $575...with tip...which seemed really high! The food was just something BBQ'd and a small side. Don't let the other reviews deceive you. This place is definitely worth a visit! It is located right next to the lobby of the hotel. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious! For appetizers, we ordered the roasted peppers, mozzarella, and the calamari. Everything came out great, and they were able to easily accommodate my wife's dietary restrictions. For the main course, I had the margarita pizza which was extremely tasty, while the wife had the Veal T-Bone. We had never had it before, but was nice and tender. Their Fried Calamari was incredible: a light and crispy batter! I nibbled at their artisan bread; charcuterie board; bean salad; and, fig flatbread! While the rest of our party all enjoyed their corn risotto; lamb; and, rib eye - my salmon was overcooked - sad! If I could, I'd give this place 4 and 1/2 stars... but I can't, so I rounded up. The service was great, the food was delicious and the environment was just fine given the circumstances. My only complaint is that they're currently (August 2020) offering a limited menu, which is not nearly as impressive as the full menu. My girlfriend and I were excited to order dishes that we saw online on the regular menu, only to find out that none of these were offered on the limited menu... Don't have high expectations. Just because you are staying at an expensive resort, the dining choices don't meet the exclusivity. We were visiting for a ladies weekend and decided to stay on property for dinner. Right from the start the hostess was lovely, and the staff continued to impress us. Our server, Lance, was so personable and kind. He answered any questions we had, was happy to make suggestions, alter meals, and joke with us! We were skeptical. The reviews aren't that great. But, we arrived to the Grand Cascades Lodge at approximately 8, famished. We had tried to get reservations at the other establishment on premises a week before but it was booked, so we decided to go with Springs Bistro. We ordered apps and cocktails. The cocktail was called "Sour grapes" or something, which somehow describes my entire dining experience, with a few exceptions. The cocktail was really good. Cheese plate - Ooh, how I love cheese. The blue cheese was my favorite, the honeycomb was amazing and the fresh raisins? was also very tasty. We scoff. Oh, people don't know what they're talking about. We are really enjoying ourselves. But then came the food. The cured tuna tasted like... I don't know. not like tuna. More like sardines? I don't know. It was way too salty, but I guess thats what 'curing" is. I can't say anything was bad per se, but it certainly wasn't a composed dish. cured tuna with chickpeas. say what? The gnocchi was ok. but that wasn't gnocchi. It was like mini potato pancakes. literally. Seriously. didn't taste bad, but it was not gnocchi. The fish dish - forgot which fish it was was way overcooked and the potatoes that accompanied it too salty. there was another dish that we liked, but ironically the good dish slipped my mind, so I guess it was that forgettable. We ate here last Wednesday night. The food was good as was the service. It was more of a home run than the place at the other end of the hotel which is a disaster. It is pricey, but the menu is pretty well thought out and the ingredients taste very fresh. The establishment itself is very nice & the staff is pleasant. The food on the other hand is mediocre at best. Super expensive prices and super small portions. My wife got the home made pasta dish that was the size of an appetizer portion, nearly tasteless and unappealing. I got the strip steak, asked for it medium it came well and like a hockey puck. Steak was tossed on the plate with a "side of mushrooms" which I think was a total of 2 mushrooms cut into a total of 6 pieces. Apps were fair and both needed salt. I would never come back to this particular restaurant, come hungry leave famished ! Don't waste your time or cash here ! read more

Had a really great experience here. Margarita pizza was excellent, and so was the duck confit. The place is doing a great job of keeping people socially distanced and also still creating an ambiance. Our service was awesome and our waiter even lended us a wine opener for our room. Staff was friendly and overall happy to see patrons. A strong but simply menu delivered by an informed and generous server was only topped by an excellent view and environment. We had a large party of all ages and everyone left satisfied. My orders were nearly perfect. he only misstep was the bland lump crab on top of a water cucumber gazpacho. The perfectly done giant meatballs were great, shatteringly crisp polenta fritters over pork Milanase was very well made, and the tiramisu to end the evening was good too. We had the charcuterie plate which was delicious, the most incredible meatballs we've ever had in an amazing sauce, all their pasta dishes are freshly made which made it even more delicious. The view is spectacular! Especially if dining during sunset. You can dine inside or outside weather permitting. Last but not least our server was nothing short of perfection. Service was inexperienced and just average - we waited about 15 minutes for our appetizers (which were very good - calamari and a burrata salad) and then three minutes later they brought out our dinners. The guy who brings the food out from the kitchen forgot the sauce for the calamari and no one came to check if things were ok. We had to flag someone down to get the sauce and then they asked if we really wanted it since we were halfway through the appetizer?!?! The pizza was undercooked and all the cheese and toppings slid off when you picked it up. The bucatini carbonara had no bacon in it - however it tasted like bacon fat had been used to make the sauce which was overly salty and fatty - a bit too emulsified and like glue. I sat at the bar and got great service. I ordered the spring greens and the citrus honey dressing was amazing and the salad itself was terrific. The problem was with the Braised Sasso Chicken. I have NEVER met a chicken dish I didn't like, but this dish made NO sense. It was a braised thigh and a leg swimming in a half a bowl of soup WITH A GRILLED BREAST that was actually burnt from the grill floating in there too. The food here is really bad. The bruschetta appetizer was so hard to cut I asked for a steak knife and even then had trouble. It was chewy and was obviously reheated. Also only 1 of the 4 had marscapone on it. We mentioned that to the waiter and he didn't sound surprised. He also did nothing about it even though we sent back 2 of the 4 uneaten. The cauliflower fritter was cold and not crispy, the garganelli pasta was mushy and not seasoned and the linguini was decent although far from memorable. Be aware that this Springs Bistro restaurant inside the Grand Cascades Lodge, has the worst tasting home-made wheat pasta. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs and they gave me wide wheat noodles, which ruined the taste of the good meatballs. My wife ordered a lobster pasta dish and they gave her a wheat pasta "wrap" which was tough and ruined her lobster dinner. I do not recommend this place for anyone who wants a decent meal. For such an upscale and nice resort the food was subpar. The restaurant at the golf course was much better (Crystal Tavern) and the restaurant at Minerals (Kites) is way better.
