While the Lafayette House decor and wallpaper needs to be updated, the food we had on Thanksgiving Day was truly delicious. I had the turkey dinner, while most of the group had the prime rib. The restaurant itself is a very nice place. The decorations are nice especially around Christmas time...but everything was sub par. The food was nothing spectacular and pretty pricey. And service wasnt very great. We waited a very long time for our food to come out. Also the restaurant was so loud. But what bothered me the most is the fact they charge for soda refills. If they were to notify the group that, that was a charge I would have understood but they did not. When we got our bill we were shocked. There should be something in the menu saying it if they dont notify the customer in person. On top of that. The glasses for the soda were ridiculously small. I felt a little robbed. Food was excellent, our filet mignon was prepared to perfection. Very flavorful and tender. Servers were friendly but service was very slow. The place has an old farmhouse charm but looks a little dated. Plenty of parking space and easy to make reservation. read more

We had dinner at the Layfayette House and we were very disappointed. The food was overcooked, service was sloppy. The appetizers we ordered were served haphazardly. My companions order salads and I soup. They received their salads and my soup arrived much later. I would compare this restaurant to Applebees. Poor service and overcooked food. It's a shame, we were looking forward to going there but it was a bad experience and we will not return. read more

The food we ordered was delicious. I had blackened salmon salad w avocado, romaine, cucumbers, tomatoes, delicious dressing. The fish was cooked to perfection. Also had a summer sangria which was very nice. Refreshing, sweet. My only drawback was for a lunch menu it was expensive. $26 for the salmon salad. Seems a lot for lunch. You can dress very casual there. The waitress was named melodie and she was very nice and took her job seriously, being professional, friendly and attentive. The place seems a bit older as far as decor. But I woukd definitely recommend it for a good lunch. read more

Service was good & friendly with smiles, which you don't see much these days. Menu has a nice cross section of meat, fish, chicken & sandwiches. There is a great variety and something on the menu to please everyone. Specials were very attractive & slightly off the beaten path, which is always a pleasant surprise. Our diners had prime rib (very good), Salmon burger special (excellent) and seared scallops, which were very nicely prepared, but unfortunately on the cusp of their expiration date. ****It still beats frozen, but if fresher would have been superb. I usually love this place, Unfortunately due to Covid they are severely understaffed and it shows. Waited a LONG time to get a drink. Food also took a long time and burger was cooked to incorrect temperature. They would have made me another one but I couldn't wait another 45 minutes. Usually the food here is solid...maybe a bad day? FYI the oysters were delicious. They did take it off the bill. I hope this situation gets better. I will try again soon and report back. read more

The Sunday brunch is fantastic. After 12pm they offer the full menu along with the specialty brunch menu. They also offer a special boozey brunch for a couple extra $$ that is very worth the money. I got the oysters of the half shell and crab cakes which were exquisite, full of crab meat and it was served with rice and steamed veggies. I attended a function with a brunch. The food was excellent and so was the service. My complaint is with handicapped accessibility. The only way you can go there to eat is if you are at main dinning room. If you are downstairs they have an entrance but can not access with wheelchair because the road has a gate, so if some was with a walker they would have to come down from parking lot to get in. Once inside the only way to get to the restroom is up a flight of stairs. If they need the restroom they have to take their walker up the road to the front entrance and then walk back down to the dinning area. Not doable for someone who is handicapped to use restrooms. I had lunch with friends last week and we had a wonderful experience. There was a nice round table all ready for us, The weight staff was pleasant and efficient, and we all Were pleased with what we ordered. We wanted to visit for a little longer and they did not rush us out. Based on the experience we had I would gladly recommend the Lafayette House. Cobb Salad, French Onion Soup, chicken Cesar salad, and French dip were some of the entrées we had, and most of us had to take home doggy bags because there was so much food. read more

Had Easter reservation for first seating at 11am. An hour and a half later still No food. Being told the kitchens backed up (first seating on a limited menu cmon folks) while other tables have gotten apps. Food and dessert already. When saying something to the waitress she did absolutely nothing about it. I have been to the Lafayette House many times in the past. I've not been here in a few years and I'm glad I have not. The buffet brunch is gone which is sad. But most disappointing was having an 11 am reservation and food not coming out for 90 minutes. Worse still, is that many parties came after ours and were served before us. Also surprisingly, there is no visible management to improve service or discuss issues with. Obviously we won't be returning. read more

The Lafayette House is a place our family (immediate and extended) has been going to for a very long time. Aside from having a great many family meals and couple's romantic dinners there, we've also hosted birthday parties, anniversary parties, baby showers, receptions, and school dances. Their service and attention to detail has ALWAYS been superb. The quality of the food is fantastic and consistent. I would 100% recommend the Lafayette House to anyone looking for a nice place to have a meal or celebrate any special occasion. read more

We have been very concerned when driving by restaurants with outside dining, the tables maybe 6 feet apart but people in chairs are far too close to each other. Lafayette House the tables were at least 10 feet apart and some were much farther apart. The service and food were both excellent! read more

Was here for a shower last Sunday and the experience was interesting. The shower was in a private room downstairs so when we wanted to get food we had to go upstairs, which was fine. Getting a drink was a little more difficult: you had to go upstairs, across the restaurant floor, and down to the bar. Imagine that walk with a martini glass in hand! My mother-in-law, husband and I went to the Lafayette House for lunch yesterday. What a disappointment. Overpriced for what should have been a lunch special portion. My coconut shrimp were small, and weren't fresh. It looked like one chicken breast had been cut in quarters, with 2 quarters going into my husband's chicken marsala, and 2 quarters going into my mother-in-law's chicken francese. They proceeded to sit us downstairs in the tavern where it was dark and felt like a bar and when we asked for accommodations to maybe seat us in the main dining area that I found it hard to believe everything was booked they all had an attitude and the woman at the Front wasn't even trying to do anything. standing around w an attitude. I have been coming to the Lafayette House for years after cutting down our Christmas tree each year. It was always a nice atmosphere and a delicious meal. That is definitely not the case anymore. Last year, when we came, our waitress was noticeably drunk during our lunch. She was stumbling around, fumbling over her words, and hit on my dad in front of our entire family. We chalked it up to one bad fluke and came back this year. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back. We ordered our meals without issue. The cheese platter appetizer was good, but that's the best I can say. We waited an hour and a half for our food. We didn't even get a bread basket until then. When the food did come out, it was cold - actually cold, not just not hot. The cheese on my grilled cheese wasn't melted. Steaks were rubbery and overdone (we asked for medium rare - they came out well done). Sadly, this family tradition has come to an end. read more

I have a large Italian family so we needed somewhere to accommodate us for our yearly Easter Brunch so we chose the Lafayette House. We were seated pretty quickly because we were a few minutes for our reservations (Mainly because none of my family knew where this place was). We all walked into a pretty nice atmosphere and the Maitre d' was polite also. As soon as we sat down we all noticed how busy it was. We waited only a few minutes before our drink order was taken, but when the waitress returned, not everyone received their drinks. My 5 year old daughter had to wait nearly 30 minutes before a waitress brought a pitcher of water to the table.. by the way, this was the third waitress we had to ask. I literally had to walk up to 2 of them to get their attention. They all seemed to be more interested in cleaning tables than waiting on them. My mother and father had to wait 8 minutes for plates because there were no clean plates at the buffet and my 8 year old son had to wait 10 minutes for the omelet guy to return to the omelet station. I mean, come on... It was a full house, but clean your plates, get them out, and stay at your station. On the up side, I do have to say, the food was pretty good. We also had to wait nearly 40 minutes for the check, then once we squared the check up with my family, we waited another 25 minutes for them to return to pick up our payment, yes, that's over an hour just to pay them. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I couldn't believe how bad the service was and would have complained to the manager if I found one. read more

I've been going here for the past 2 months and I am very satisfied. The atmosphere 10/10 would recommend, casual barnyard mixed cottage... and I'm living for it. Get the Greek wrap she's a beaut like it's a lot of food but it's worth it ya know. Like she's not one of those meals where u eat it and get sick of it and wait like a day you eat her for 2 meals a day.
