We decided to try them out this weekend while visiting my husband's family since they're always mentioning this place. The place is spacious, and you can fit your whole family plus your compadres and even the neighbors ... Food is well portion and have a very rich taste. I opted for the Huarache and barbacoa tacos for my kids . My husband on the other hand went with the consome and 1/2 pound barbacoa. I've been coming here since I was a kid and I never once had a problem. Today's experience has been one of the worst. Here is not about keeping the customer happy it's about whatever they want and what is convenient for them. They were rude & did not accommodate our needs. We did not ask for a lot it was a simple arrangement of tables and they made a big fuzz and made us put them back. Keep in mind this place is a garage made into a restaurant that has movable tables. After the incident the vibe was just weird & no one wanted to come check on our table when we were just being calm and nice about the situation. Very disappointed, last time we ever come here. So sad since I've had lots of great memories since I was a kid. Update: it was not the waitresses fault, it was the owner who made a fuzz. She was trying to help but owner said no (what we were told). She also didn't serve us any refills throughout the whole lunch. Honestly this is one of the best hidden gems in souther Cali. It doesn't look like much since it's surrounded by a lot of vehicle shops. The pansa blanca, barbacoa, and consume were delicious and full of flavor. Of course you can't eat any of this without their fresh hand made tortillas. The bathroom is dirty and the place looks a bit sketchy but the kitchen does looks kept and clean. Usually you get the best chow at holes in the walls. And this one did not disappoint. I only gave it one star because it wouldn't allow me to review without it. This place is terrible! If you are looking for a stomach ache...feel free to order anything on the menu. Came here because its close to home and it seemed to have many people looking to park to eat here. Well, thats because they really only have like 10 parking spaces. I ordered the huarache de asada. Boy was i surprised when i got a piece of cardboard with crema and queso on top. It tasted like an old deep fried tortilla. The cardboard looking tortilla was places over a thin piece of meat that looked like beef jerky and tasted very gamy...and salty. Not even my fork was able to cut through either. I didn't end up eating it because it was disgusting. I then thought, maybe i ordered the wrong thing. So, i decided to order the barbacoa. Gross! It was too dry to be barbacoa or even birria. Meat was dryer than $&@t and had a splash of red color on top. I tried dressing it up with the dry cilantro and hot sauce. Epic fail! The cook couldnt even make this taste good. Lastly, the place is cash only, but if u wanna save yourself some money, be able to find parking, and enjoy a good meal...this is not the place for you. Seek elsewhere. read more

Barbacoa, Cesina, and consomé are the main dishes, and they also have the basic Mexican bites tacos & burritos. The barbacoa is really juicy and tasteful especially when you add salsa de mole. The cesina has a flavor that makes you feel like your at home (Mexico). The Consome is really favorable and enjoyable. During the weekends you can eat and enjoy live music outdoors and on certain dates they have shows (imitators). There is a lot of space to accommodate family and friends. The parking is secured and is next to the restaurant. It's a Cash only but there is an ATM. I've been frequenting this place for almost 10 years. Hands down the best barbacoa and chivo you can get in LA....ALWAYS moist and delicious. The mole salsa and dinner plate sized tortillas really make it five star eating. I've also had their quesadillas and sopes and they're always fresh and delicious. The service is warm a friendly and my kids love the fountain in the back. Weekends have had some fun Vicente Fernandez impersonators and djs. There aren't many food choices in this part of Compton -- and this place was a pleasant surprise! I ordered the huaraches and enjoyed it very much! Next time I'll try something else.
