On May 21,2026 we hosted a Rehearsal dinner (35 guests) and Welcome Party (85 Guests total). The dinner was perfectly ordered and salads and dinners presented timely after the Speech by Father of Groom. We decided to have a dessert station and Charcuterie so that guests could mingle with cocktails with arrivals for Welcome Party. Tatum was so incredible with every step of process, even recommending changes I had not considered. There was love, laughter, lots of hugs, and overall, it was the perfect start to the wedding weekend. Guests even commented " I didnt want it to end". read more

Had a bereavement lunch buffet for 45 and ordered the steak tips and chicken. The steak tips weren't the typical sirloin you expect but cubed bavette steak that was overcooked and difficult to cut and chew. The chicken was sliced and floating in stock. Both were pretty tasteless. Ceasar salad was a bowl of romaine with no cheese. Salad was a bowl of lettuce. Hummus had whole cloves of garlic in it. Clam chowder and asparagus was the highlight of meal. Very disappointing. read more

Restaurant and bar area was not busy - waited over 30 minutes for a burger, came out medium instead of medium rare the bread was like a big puffy star market bread. The french fries were cold and super greasy. We actually ordered dessert, which was the ice cream cookie sandwich which just came out of the freezer. The food was really aweful. To start we opted for the charcuterie board. The board was Served on a plate. A pile of indistinguishable items, a massive pile of a cold cut, some pate, and smears of things or condiments. The juices of the items ran together, which made for a very unappetizing sight/ taste. I had ordered the salmon, and my guest ordered the cannelloni. On top of the cannelloni was the greasiest deep fried greens, which was a heart attack waiting to happen. The cannelloni was swimming in the most disgusting sauce, which was broken and not properly emulsified. Needless to say, it was not touched.. The salmon was so incredibly small, it may have been only 4oz, overcooked, dried. The asparagus was over grilled and charred. Service was odd, started off with a young server, then we were ignored for quite some time, then another server appeared and took over. It was just odd. I had heard good things about this establishment, but it seems that more attention was being lavished on the Bar, and not the dining room. read more

Now we know why the main dinning room was half empty at 6:30 on a Saturday nite whereas all other Resteraunts in Scitute had a 60-90 minute waiting line. Let's start with the oysters, at $24 for half a dozen the actual oyster size was the size of a quarter (at best) very disappointing. I asked our waitress where the oyster came from and she said Duxbury and I asked what farm and she didn't know. You would think management would educate their wait staff. The fried calamari would get a C+, (best part of meal), my wife and I each got the Fish N Chips... batter came out dark brown, it looks like they haven't changed their oil in the fry-o-later for a long time, which ruined the experience, the fish was just ok once you found it. My daughters $42 steak was ordered medium rare and came out medium well, it was sent back and when the replacement dish came out the remaining 5 of us were finishing our dinners and get this, the steak was still over cooked so they took it off our bill. My sons pappardelle and short rib was so so, and his girlfriends salmon was "just ok" With a $593 bill this was a very poor dining experience. This will be our last visit to Oro you may want to consider same. In hind sight we should have cooked at home and would have saved a lot of money!!! read more

We had a GC to go to ORO and decide to go last night. The restaurant is lovely and very nicely done inside. The service was spot on.. Valerie is a seasoned server and on her game. The martinis were excellent. I had a regular vodka martini and he had an espresso martini. Kudos to the bartender. We also had the calamari which was nicely done. Now for the food/main dishes. It was good just done a little differently. The duck confit which was shredded duck and pasta mix which was tasty but just not what we expected. The salmon was delicious and cooked perfectly. So now for the real unusual part.. there are very few things on the menu for entrees.. but the website showed many wonderful offerings with photos too. We were looking forward to one or two of those things but they were not anywhere to be found. I really believe they need to update their website because it is very deceiving and not fair to patrons. Hopefully the owners will read this review and add some great seafood dishes like the ones on their site. Scallops and sea bass on your website would be great additions to the menu. Please expand the menu so we can give it another try. I really want to but need some other offerings. TY read more

Our first time at Oro in this location. We had been to the location on Front Street several years ago and enjoyed it. This is not the same Oro that we remember. We were seated in the bar side, even though we had reservations. It was loud and not entirely welcoming. Not sure if the dining room was open but we felt very overdressed and as though we were outsiders in a bar full of regulars. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, even though it's a Wednesday night and not very crowded. Started with the charcuterie board which was severely lacking. It had two meats: a hot capicola and mortadella as well as one cheese and a raspberry preserve, cucumbers and mustard. The presentation on a regular plate left a lot to be desired. Our meals were bland. I had the bucatini that had zero flavor. My husband got the salmon and asked for a side of asparagus. It came out with just the salmon and asparagus and none of the other sides that were in the description. Overall, slow service, not great atmosphere and bland food. Won't be back. read more

My first experience at Oro was phenomenal. The food and service were top-notch. Plenty of parking and easy access to get in and out.

You know those horror flicks that start out like everything is cool but the music gives warning? Like a few "dunt-dunts" and the minor chords and pretty soon you're screaming at the screen, "DON'T GO IN THE HOUSE." That's Oro. Oro used to be on Front Street in Scituate Harbor. And while remnants of the menu & staff (and maybe the kitchen -- who knows?) remain, it's really a very different place. This review is for the "new" Oro in the old PJ's Country House space on 3A just north of the North River. The space (then as PJ's and now as Oro's) is large and sprawling with various rooms for feedings and functions. In the back, there's a bar area with seats for maybe 12 or so people at the actual bar and about as many high two- and four-top tables surrounding. I'm not a design professional but there's something about the hard surfaces -- composite floor, bare tables, hard chairs, bright lights-- that makes the atmosphere feel cold, and I don't mean temperature. Years ago, I was in the same room when it was PJs on a snowy evening where the lights were low and the snow was visible thru the windows, and it all just felt so quaint and cozy. Oro in the same space is nothing like that. It feels almost like a diner. Or a VFW hall. We got there around 430 on a weekday and the bar was already full. And by that I mean all the seats actually at the bar were taken, mostly by old men (who were still there when we left, which means not a lot of turnover at the bar). It's like a bro-bar for post-middle-age men. But we were thrilled to be out, happy to have a table in the thick of it. And then the server came over to offer menus and water and such. When she was pouring the water, I asked for ice with mine. She got defensive. And in order to salve her feelings, I offered that many people don't like ice. So weird, right? I asked about her shirt, which had the OYSTER label from Island Creek on it. Ordinary conversation -- right? -- but there was something off. Dunt dunt. So we put in drink orders and I asked for the same drink I've ordered for years at Oro's and elsewhere: a dirty martini, "just a little bit dirty." And then we talked about whether or not the oysters were on special (they were!) and where they were from. And when she left, I got a funny feeling. She didn't write anything down, but that's common, isn't it? DUNT DUNT. After the oysters arrived, we finally got our drinks. Mine was really horribly executed. It was green. It tasted like pure olive juice. It wasn't "a little bit" by any measure. I said to the server that it was heavy. (There's no way she conveyed my "just a little bit dirty" request to the bartender. Is there?) Server grabbed the drink and ran away in a dramatic huff. Yikes. Or as they say in the horrors, DUNT DUNT. We perused the menu -- I was torn between the duck ($30) and the burger (a hefty $20 -- what the heck?) -- but it was a waste of time. Server never came back to take the rest of our order -- the actual food part. It's not like we were in a corner where she could miss us. She walked past us about 20 times, each time assiduously resisting any eye contact. You know how a hungry cat tries to grab a leg to get fed? I kept trying a mind-meld to get her to pay us attention. It turns out that there's a back story. Years ago at the harbor Oro, my dining companion had complained about this same server. And on this day, the server was holding a grudge. So unbeknownst to me (or my companion), when we walked in that afternoon, we were doomed. Instead of professional service we got petty retribution. In a nutshell, this is what Oro's feels like --small town, cliquish. You got the old bros klatching at the bar. You got a bad-egg server who is still nursing a middleschool grudge. And you got management who enables because it can't be bothered to train. That night when the manager (or something?) came over to our table to ask about the problem, I said that the server never took our food order. Manager said, "She was probably letting you relax." Right. All the adjacent tables cycled through entire meals while we can't get eye contact. But this management makes excuses. The fact that this server has been at Oro's so long and keeps doing the same thing suggests that bad service is reinforced. Play scary minor chord here. Manager kindly comped our drinks and cheap oysters. Thanks. But no one goes out to have an experience so bad that it must be comped if the establishment is going to maintain any dignity. And note to the server, people eat out so they can get food and drink to their taste. It's why people tell you what they want and how they want it. Get over your hurt feelings and listen to the customer. ***This review is an update. The previous review was for the harbor Oro that no longer exists. Overpriced and underwhelming! Here's the summary...Oro is a glorified local bar that serves overpriced food by unpolished, inexperienced but friendly servers in a deafening environment. We had been trying to visit since last summer and had heard mostly positive things (including from a local Cohasset shopkeeper earlier today.) However, this was as disappointing a dining experience as we have had in quite some time. The reports of it being loud in the restaurant were NOT exaggerated...at all! In fairness it was the Scituate Heritage Days (the annual local town festival) and town was hopping. However, I would have to say that I don't think this had a significant effect (as many others have mentioned the noise issue.) Upon entering and checking in with the hostess (we had a reservation), we turned to the bar which is centrally located in the restaurant. It was bustling with what appeared to be many locals, but was not slammed. Despite this I stood and waited for the bartenders to acknowledge me. Minutes passed as they took care of a few other patrons at the bar, refilled the napkins, re-stocked glasses and other supplies, etc. Finally eye contact with one and...off she went again restocking. Ignored! I finally actually had to waive to one until she could not longer avoid me. Absolutely awful service! Both of these women made me feel like they couldn't be bothered. Our table was ready on time and our server, Amy, was friendly enough. The food however, was overpriced and uninspired. My beet salad, which was nicely presented in a thin crouton-like ring (see photo), was an under-seasoned salad served over a few very thinly sliced beets. It was just OK. My Bavette Steak -- priced at $32! -- was a decent amount of meat cooked properly, yet was sliced WITH the grain making it stringy. The accompanying polenta cakes were dry and the balsamic veggie kabob was an embarrassingly-small, tiny skewer of even tinier-sized veggies. Really chef? This meal actually made me angry at what I received for the price. $32 for this? Really?? Wife had the fish cakes which she said she liked. Overall...this experience was seriously lacking, disappointing and aggravating. The experience, service and food here cannot command these prices. There are so many other better choices on the South Shore. read more

I was excited to see they've changed their menu as I was tired of the same old offerings year after year. The two salads we ordered were fresh and delicious. The Caesar was huge, chopped and very garlicky and came with a Parmesan crisp. The second salad was endive, blue cheese, candied walnuts and was large. Dressing on this salad was just ok but salad was nice and fresh. The salmon entree was perfectly cooked and had delicious green beans and sticky rice as sides. The pesto and ricotta baked pasta was absolutely terrible. The pesto wasn't basil pesto but I think was tasteless spinach pesto (I asked the waiter and he had no idea what type of pesto it was). There was barely any ricotta in it and it was dry as a bone. The meatballs that came on the side were good but an odd choice as an accompaniment to the baked pasta (they were in red sauce and pasta was green). They need to get this pasta dish swapped out with another type of pasta entree that isn't over cooked and dry and flavorless. Cocktails are interesting and unusual. Ambiance and service both top notch. We'll be back, I just will order better next time and skip the pasta. read more

Sorry I can't hear you... High ceilings with nothing to help dampen the sound...the anniversary dinner was disappointing when you can't hear your loved one sitting across from you. Just a loud bar with music and people talking over the music. Tried to make the best of the evening but couldn't. The couple next to us had the same opinion. This used to house my favorite Chinese food restaurant so I was glad to get a chance to check out the new format. We lived in Scituate for over a dozen years and love to go back for visits. We always enjoy a nice dinner in the Harbor. We went with several friends and enjoyed a delicious meal. Would have loved a glass (or bottle) of wine but the offerings were a little weak. Opted instead for some tasty martinis. Highly recommend trying out their creative options! Service was great, food was excellent and we got to enjoy a wonderful night with our Scituate friends. The worst dining experience imaginable. We were a party of 8 and were told due to a special function there were menu limitations for regular dining- no special Wednesday nite oysters- their specialty and no mussels. We arrived at 6 and were served at 8:18. Manager Kim was insulted when we complained about slow service and left w a sneer on her face. Although the service was terrible, the entrees were even worse- the salmon was grossly overcooked and inedible; the steak was tough and the calamari overdone. All 8 of us agreed never to return. Our server- Elizabeth was kind and tried but the mismanagement was impossible to overcome. The acoustics are terrible due to the bare walls and many windows which erodes the dinner conversation. Comfortable country casual atmosphere Lots of spicy, and I mean hot, choices on their menu last time I visited a year or so ago. (Majority of my party didn't or couldn't eat their food because of that.) I'd go back but they wont. I mentioned it our way out to an employee to please pass this feedback along to management or owner that those menu choices should be clearly marked as very Spicy. I loved this spot when I first visited their Scituate harbor location. Their new location is a bit out of the way, but I like that the menu is not like everyone else's. read more

I waited a bit to write this because we didn't get a good impression and I wanted to let the expensive dinner settle and not let the bitter taste infiltrate the review. Having made reservations ahead of time for a birthday, I was a little dismayed that we had to wait outside on a chilly night for over 15 minutes for our table. Then, our server had an extremely odd manner. Sort of loud and a little brash, she also seemed a little rushed. They ran out of water glasses which added another odd question mark to the evening. Some of the food was very good like the corn chowder and other dishes were not very memorable (or sizeable). I realize this is a nice place for dinner (that's why I picked it), but it can't seem to decide whether it is upscale fine dining or a more casual and hip bar/restaurant. I'm honestly not sure where exactly the elements went awry, but our dinner just didn't come together the way I was hoping. read more

Sunday Brunch is amazing. Short menu but everything is very tasty. As soon as you walk in you'll fall in love with the place. Absolutely gorgeous decor and location is perfect. Oro had live entertainment on Sunday afternoons which we instantly became a fan. The service is impeccable and was on the money with assisting with food order and drink pairing. Only could give 4 stars because I wish it was bigger. Tough to bring a large group of friends which I would love to do just to show it off. read more

I loved Oro from the moment I walked in. It feels very warm and inviting - in general a great ambiance. The food is crazy. It tastes amazing and it's really creative - not your standard stuff. I think you will love it. The location is also unbeatable. Take a stroll along the harbor and then stop in for dinner or drinks. Why not five stars? The dining room is small and there's aren't a ton of tables, plus it can be sort of hard to hear when the room gets full. There are many good reviews for Oro here, which makes me wonder how our experience could be so different from other Yelpers'? My husband and I went to Oro for Sunday brunch and the place was nearly empty. Despite the slow dining room, our waitress was constantly missing in action. I ordered tea and it came in a clever cup that fit neatly into its saucer, but the cup and saucer were filthy. After a long wait our waitress came back with a clean mug for my tea but she forgot the spoon, milk, and sugar I had requested. Another 15 minutes go by without seeing our server so my husband went to the hostess station to ask if someone could please bring us a spoon, milk, and some sugar. My meal was to be a simple cheeseburger, medium well. It came out very rare, so rare in fact that the red juices had completely saturated the bottom of the bun. It was inedible, and again our waitress was nowhere to be found. After some 15- 20 minutes she returned to see how everything was and I showed her my underdone burger asked if she could take it back to the kitchen to be cooked. My husband was finished with his meal by the time my burger came back, and when it finally did arrive there was a splotch of BBQ sauce on it that hadn't been there before so someone had handled it with other food on their hands. The one saving grace was the fantastic guitarist/singer who was playing that day. He was really good and he's the only reason I'm not giving Oro a one-star rating. If we were to go back to there someday, it would NOT be for the food or the service; we'd only go back to hear that musician again. read more

Of Bacon-Flavored Clouds and Other Wonderful Things: I've eaten at Oro at least 15 times now, and every time has been exceptional. Scituate and the whole of the South Shore is lucky to have such talented chefs and such a fun, lighthearted restaurant in our midst. Oro easily stacks up against the best in the South End and Cambridge -- perhaps not quite as inventive as some eateries, but heavenly flavors, perfectly executed dishes, and a casual but upscale vibe that makes you want to hang out at the small bar for a looooong time. On to the food: My wife is in love with the seafood misto appetizer, a delightful combo of tuna, salmon and avocado that's ample and delicious enough to be an entree. I can't get enough of the grass fed bavette steak. And the desserts... oh, the desserts! Salted caramel molten chocolate cakes, an ice cream-cookie sandwich that's to die for, and at least 4 other mouthwatering delights. But my newest favorite is what I like to call the Bacon-Flavored Cloud, a pork belly that is cooked so perfectly that the fat melts in your mouth like a morning fog infused with bacon. Yup, it's that good. The staff and chef-owner have always been great, whether we're in early as a party of 3 (with a toddler) or later as a party of two. It can get crowded Thu-Sat, but that's just an excuse for a great cocktail from the bar. The only critique I have is that the menu could be more seasonal. Don't get me wrong, the menu does change and everything on it is delicious, but I would eat there weekly if the menu changed more frequently. read more

My husband and I just moved to Scituate and have heard good things about Oro. We tried it for the first time last night. It was awesome! 1) drinks. Get the Painkiller. So good. Fun drink! We felt like we were on vacation 2) setting was nice - although I wish they had outdoor seating 3) appetizers - delish. We got the cheese board - it was lovely and a fun dish to pick at while we sipped our cocktails. They provide free focaccia bread as well 4) I got the corn chowder - with bacon and clams for my main course. So good. Rich and filling. My husband got the striped bass - he said it was delicious - there wasn't a morsel left for me to try ;) Overall, great spot for a nice dinner. We might go back for painkillers and apps at the bar. But also a good place for a nice occasion. Service and food presentation was very good. read more

Popped in here today for brunch, our first time. The decor and vibe are awesome, there was a great guitarist as well. Our bartender,Jess, was very attentive and calm even when it got pretty busy. My fiancé got the burger which was delicious! Burger patty is made in house, homemade pickles too! I ordered the chorizo hash which was good, but sat in a puddle of grease.
