I was glad to be able to finally try this place as I am always too early or just forget to stop by, but I was finally able and happy that I did. My wife and I stopped in for lunch and we were pleasantly greeted right away and seated. I was very impressed by how clean everywhere was and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and it felt modern and upscale. Our waiter was also very pleasant, personable and attentive. We placed our orders for our drinks and lunch and the drinks and started off with a salad each, I had the Cesar salad and my wife hat a house salad. my salad was very fresh and it had a very good dressing that coated everything perfectly. So for our main dishes my wife ordered the pecan crusted chicken with bacon cheese mashed potato and I had a Rubin with fries. Our meals came out in a decent time and were nice and hot, my Rubin was packed with meat and Sauerkraut, the fries were excellent and not over salted. I also liked that my sandwich wasn't overloaded with sauce, it was just the right amount. My wife's pecan chicken was incredible and the flavors were great. A friend and I had lunch here the other day on a quiet Monday - sat in, no take out, and it was great! We hadn't been to Alden Park in a long while and we were so glad we went here! A grilled Caesar salad was delicious- delicious dressing, delicious chicken - and big enough to eat half, and take home half, if you ordered appetizers as we did. A special appetizer that day of "mahi sticks" I think they were called, was such a surprise, like fish sticks for grownups . . . SO GOOD! Whoever invented these? Kudos to you! I'd eat those panko-crusted fingers every day given the chance! The clam chowder, as always - very good! All in all, the value was fair, the excellent customer service from the welcoming staff was so nice to experience, and food was A+. This is my first visit to Alden Park restaurant, before I went in I made sure that they had pescatarian dishes and they had quite a few great options for pescatarian and vegetarian so I decided to have lunch. I walked inside the restaurant and a wonderful friendly gentleman greeted me. He asked if I wanted to be seated inside or outside and since it was a beautiful 73 degrees outside I decided to sit outside. I told him that before I sit outside I first have to go to the ladies room so he gave me directions. Once I entered the ladies room I was shocked how amazing it was. It was extremely clean and neatly organized. They even had cute little paper towels folded up next to the sink with the A printed on them for Alden. The bathroom was magnificently exquisite. When I was done in the bathroom I went out to the front where the gentleman was and he was busy on the phone with a customer. A waitress that failed to give me her name walked over to me and asked if she could help me and I told her that I'm going to have lunch and I would like to be seated outside. The waitress seated me and handed me 2 menus. Let me just say that I do not like to try new and different things, because I have a fear that I won't like it, but how will I know if I do not try something new. I was undecided between 3 dishes. The Salmon Burger, The Vegetable Stir Fry and the Cod Reuben. I decided on the Cod Reuben with the choice of house made sweet potato chips. My wait was about 15 minutes and the waitress came out with my food. I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation of my meal. It looked fantastic, like a magnificent piece of art that belongs in an art gallery! As I was sitting alone wishing that I had company to have lunch with an unwelcome visitor came over to me while I was eating. I did not invite this pest nor was it going to get any of my delicious Cod Reuben containing fried cod, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing on marble rye bread. There was certainly no way the pest was going to get any of my absolutely delicious house made sweet potato chips that had a sugary and cinnamon taste. The fly was such a nuisance and an irritant that I almost took my lunch and went inside. That's how delicious it was and I was not going to share it. When the waitress came over with my check and a box to pack up the rest of my lunch I told her that I'm not the type of person to try new things, but this Cod Reuben and the sweet potato chips are delicious and I told her to give my compliments to the chef. I am still in shock, I don't even know how to describe the experience. Our waitperson was so combative, it seemed like a joke-think Seinfeld soup ****. From the beginning it was uncomfortable because he was clearly irritated with something, but we just looked at each other and laughed it off. When we ordered, I wasn't sure what was included with a burger-honestly that part was my fault, I didn't see "one side" noted. When I asked the waiter, Drew, instead of nicely handing me back the menu and directing me to the sides listed, he berated me for expecting him to know the sides when he has to remember the order. Went with a party of 5 plus an infant for dinner tonight for my moms birthday. We have made it a point to visit Alden park once a year for at least one of our family bdays or special occasions and this year we were severely disappointed to the point that I, someone who rarely writes good or bad reviews, felt compelled to do so. The waiter was a younger gentleman and although kind, may have been newer to serving as he took our drink order and food order and then never checked back in with us at all. Not even for refills on our drinks or our water nor to ask how our food came out or if we needed anything else. We made multiple attempts to flag him down, (my parents swore he looked right at them multiple times as they were trying to get his attention) as my meal was wrong and tasted very off. I had actually just been to Alden recently and reminded my family how great it was and had ordered the same dish I ordered tonight, which last month was excellent with no problems or issues at all. It was a tortellini dish with scallops and shrimp that was altogether lacking the seafood aspect for some reason. (no scallops and a singular shrimp.) After about 15 minutes an older woman with long grey hair appeared and started collecting dishes and asking family members if they were done. We felt incredibly rushed and off put by this, however my father let her grab him a box as he has had bypass and never finishes a meal anywhere we go anyways. When she hurriedly got to me I stopped her and let her know that we had tried to flag down our waiter multiple times as my dish was not up to par. Immediately without allowing me to even explain she seemed annoyed and put out. As someone who has served I fully understand the frustration of the restaurant business but I also will say that when I speak to restaurant staff I go above and beyond to be polite and respectful as I know how demanding and difficult a Saturday night can be. Despite my being polite, like I said she was visibly very annoyed with me and my untouched dish and whisked it away saying I'll bring you another without even asking or letting me get another word in. If she had asked she would have know that I definitely wasn't interested in another dish of the same thing as it was so off putting and not what it typically tasted like that I wasn't interested in another dish of the same. When we finally flagged down our waiter I was able to explain that the seafood dish I had ordered was lacking of the seafood it was supposed to have and tasted very very off. He was able to inform them that I did not want a replacement and would just like the item removed from the bill and no replacement for free or otherwise was needed. In all honesty I just wanted to get out of there, bringing a little one puts a time stamp on my outings these days and waiting for them to bring me something else felt like I would have been putting them out and I believe would have taken a very long time at this point. Everyone else's meals would have been done by the time I was even able to explain what was wrong with my food. Overall we had a horrible experience. For 30$ a dish + ( what we personally ordered) we would never go back. We were treated like we were the problem and although the manager came by at the end of the meal to apologize he didn't offer anything to make up for it besides getting me another dish of the same, and then asking if we wished to order a dessert as he heard it was someone's bday. Next time we will take our business downtown, which is incredibly unfortunate as we loved Alden for many years. read more

Late lunch, 2:00 on a beautiful Saturday, plenty of seating. SERVICE: Hanna was excellent. We were outside, and the doors between the restaurant and patio take a good push to open, but that did not deter her service level. She was attentive, friendly, checked on us and ensured our waters were replenished. ATMOSPHERE: Outside in the back is patio seating with a large fountain and casual seating for just drinks also. Nicely decorated. FOOD: OK. The chicken salad wrap, fries and salmon were lacking flavor. The chicken tasted a bit dry/freezer burned like and the salmon could have been cooked a bit more. read more

Our dip got given to the table next to us. They had already eaten a few bites. Which was a crab dip so thank god they weren't allergic to shellfish. We got their street corn dip. Which the waitress then took off our table and gave to them. Made a quick joke about them getting two dips and us waiting yet again for our appetizer while we already had our food in. Dip wasn't taken off the bill or any type of apology was made. Waited 37 mins for the dip. My maple salmon was a 4/10. Very bland besides a few hints of maple syrup. My friend got the chicken dish and did not really like it. Won't be running back anytime soon. Waitress took my half full soda and brought a new one then said only one free refill. Our first time at Alden Park was for Easter brunch, we definitely will not revisit. They do timed seatings, like most restaurants but instead of every 30 minutes, every one is seated at the same time! The layout of the restaurant made it very chaotic, we were attempting to make our way to the buffet while other guest were coming in. The buffet starts at the entrance. The food was barely warm, I am assuming they use leftovers from the prior seating, it must have sat out for 30 minutes. We finished our first round of food before our drinks made it to the table. The pastry's were picked over and not refreshed, the waffles were not fresh , I am pretty sure they were previously frozen and the biggest disappointment was the "French toast" they were sticks. When you say "waffle station" you usually mean fresh waffles! The desert tray the bring was small bite size samples of dried out cookies or something. For $350 it was a disappointment. read more

Went to Alden Park for dinner with my wife, cousin and his wife. My wife had the Park Burger and really liked it. My cousin and his wife enjoyed their meals but I don't have the details. I had the Mussels appetizer and the Portuguese Stuffed Quohogs(Hard shelled clams for non-New Englanders). The Mussels were excellent! They were very flavorful, grit free and no broken shells and the sauce was spicy and very tasty and enjoyable. Unfortunately the stuffies were disappointing. The first one was quite plump but equally drive and devoid any appearance of clams bland flavor. The second was moist but it also was bland. This was disappointing because we have been there many times previously with no negative issues. I hope this was an aberration. read more

The service here was excellent. Everyone was friendly and quick. The cocktails were equally great. They were tasty, presented very well, and they were big and strong. If I just came in for cocktails, this would be a five-star review. Unfortunately the food let me down. There was nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either. I got the steak frites with truffle fries. The fries were OK, but the steak was simply boring. It was cooked properly and the cut seemed to be decent quality, but it was one of the more flavorless steaks I've ever had. Sadly, my review is not a good one. I went with two friends in a quiet weeknight. The waitress seemed as though we were inconveniencing her. Requests for water required reminders though she seemed to have plenty of time to walk around. Two of our meals were overcooked. It didn't seem as if our experience was at all important to the establishment. I was excited to be there as I'd heard so much about it. One of us goes there often. She admitted that one can't expect a good meal all of the time. In all fairness, I understand the challenges that restaurants face during covid, but the quality of food has gone down noticeably and the prices have gone up. Sadly we all suffer from the effects of this pandemic in many ways. I give credit for effort but I would be dishonest if I gave what should normally be a 4 to 5 star restaurant as it has in the past. The veggie stir fry was ok but not great. The filet mignon was downright terrible and smelled like it was a month old. Caesar salads were good and the ice tea and Kaliber beer was good. But all that for $100 (after tip) seems like a steep price to pay for food that was at best mediocre and leaning toward poor. Last time I was there may have been more than a year ago Walter so I'll concede on that point but it does not make up for the quality of the food which in my opinion was sub par. Looking for a restaurant - other than a national chain - Alden Park appeared to be a place we could have a good experience. The decor and location was convenient to the plaza we were at and was expecting a great meal. My family and I were greeted promptly and seated towards the back of the restaurant - a section that had tables and not booths or tall tables. We reviewed the menu and liked seeing the Lobster and Shrimp Chowder and all three of us ordered it - along with a BLT flatbread for a starter. The BLT flat bread was OK - it was warm, flatbread not 'fresh or hot' - almost stale, mayonnaise was flat and surprisingly the bacon was not the hero. Would have like seeing Cubed bacon or a stronger flavor that would have made the flatbread more of a standout and seasoned. However, quality control quickly became an issue - when my wife spotted lip stick mark on her water glass and it was quickly replaced. When the chowders came, my spoon (one that came with the chowder) had food residue not fully cleaned - but it was also replaced promptly. I began to eat the chowder - it was thinner than you would expect from a chowder - but was chunky with corn, potato with chunks of lobster, including a small claw. The drawback was it was warm - not hot, but upon lifting up my small souffle bowl - I noticed 3 chips in the bowl I was eating from. I pointed this out to our waiter who apologized. Then came our main dishes - I ordered the Fritte Steak and Parmesan fries, my family ordered Shrimp Tacos and Tuna Poke. The shrimp tacos and tuna poke appeared OK but were under seasoned and warm again - however, when my steak came - the plate was full of blood that drowned out the sauce under the steak and rest of the plate. Clearly did not rest enough before it was cut - but did come as a medium rare. The steak was a little tough, but had a nice char flavor. It was also 'warm' and not as hot as I would have expected it. Strike 4 came when I cut into the steak that had a house made butter and bit into it string of plastic. It was them I fished it out of my mouth and laid it on the plate and called the waiter over - who then called the manager. I explained to the manager some of the quality control issues - dirty water glass, spoon, luke warm soup, bloody plate and now the plastic. She explained that they make their own steak butter and apparently when it was cut, the cook forgot to remove the plastic. She also stated that she would speak with her staff about the multiple issues and would comp our meal. After the plastic incident - we stopped eating (we only ate about a 10th of our meal) because now we were concerned with quality control and the care of the food that we were getting. We did not want to eat anymore - once the table was cleared, the waiter cleared the table and said our meal was comped - we left. When I go to restaurants, I generally try to go back and see if it was just an off night and if the service and food was better. But throughout the meal - too many things were just wrong and just did not meet the standard of what would have cost about $100 + for a meal. I can forgive one or two errors - but when it kept happening - I just did not feel comfortable in staying. I hope this was just a fluke and the restaurant is better than this. I don't know if I will return - it would depend if the other reviews change and there is a buzz about the place that would invite me back. I do appreciate the manager taking concern of our issues and comp'ing our meal - but clearly - multiple stages of quality control - chef, line manager, waiter, etc. missed too many of them to warrant a score better than a 1 on this review. read more

My daughter loves this restaurant and after doing a bit of holiday shopping, we went for an early dinner on Saturday 12/5. Couldn't believe how busy it was already at like 4:30. This makes my heart sing because every restaurant is struggling right now. Amy was our server and we thoroughly enjoyed her stories about her cat named "bad cat" and her beloved dog. My point is that she seemed to enjoy being there. Aside from that small talk, my daughter had clam chowder. Delish. I had a side of Caesar salad. Daughter had Mac and cheese with lobster and I had blackened cod. Mine was spicy but a nice change from just breaded cod. Daughter enjoyed Mac and cheese but wished it was a bit cheesier. From the initial planning process with Brian, to the actual day of the shower, the service and attention to detail was flawless. Huge thank you to Amira, Kate and Julie who managed the day, and provided incredible service to our guests. They consistently checked in to make sure timing and flow of event was meeting everyone's standards. Their attention to the smallest of details, was greatly appreciated. Multiple guests commented on the level service throughout the day. The food was delicious, and served timely. Working with Brian,we were pleased not to have to serve a buffet, he worked with us to customize the menu to include our Alden Park favorites. The steak never saw a flat top or grill and was mushy (the steak seemed like it was boiled or microwaved). The cheese sauce tasted like Cheez Whiz. We expressed our concerns as there is a 90min seating limit and we have been here for 80 minutes and have not received our food yet. Ordered the chowder (which used to be one of the best around) and got some cold, thick goo that was completely inedible.
