Stopped in to buy some vintage candies for a 90 year old's birthday party that we were going to. I remember they had lots of old time candies when they first opened up. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything on this visit. There were empty boxes from vintage candies that were flipped upside down, but no candies. Bummer. I didn't know there was mini restaurant in this store at the gas station until one of my husband's coworker told him about. The food was pretty good. The wait is a bit long. So, it's best if you call ahead to order and pick up. There's small dining area if you wanted to dine there. Food was pretty tasty! I got two sliders one beef and one chicken. Beef was good, chicken tasted really weird like fake meat... my daughter got chicken strips. The batter and seasoning was good and crunchy. My husbands burger was huge! He was only able to eat that with no fries or drink. He was very stuffed. Service here was ok. The girl that took our order was nice but the 2 cooks were not friendly. We may come back here for a good burger but it just feels weird ordering from a gas station. We would probably order to go if we come back. read more

I just left Retro Junction and was not happy. 1st place order as normal. But there was nobody there to start the order cooking. The store register girl took our order and had to run the kitchen also. So she started our order and had to stop and wait on a customer buying gas. I understood being short handed, but my hamburger patties were cooking. Customer left the she left and went outside also while my patties were still cooking. Then 2 young girls came in to purchase a soft drink and the guy from the back came and started accusing one of the girls. The girl said you being racist. Your talking about a different black girl. The paid and left. I was shocked. After a 1/2 hr my order was done. Short handed i understand. Close the kitchen so customers dont have to wait. Dont charge an extra $1 for onion rings to replace fries. At lease put more the 5 onion rings. read more

Probably one the most unlikely of places for a restaurant, but yes, that's where it is! We actually did eat inside once, and it was a pleasant experience. It's counter service, so don't expect someone to fold your cloth napkin when you get up from the table. While I don't exactly recall what I got when we ate inside, I remember being pleasantly surprised. Yes, it's fast food, but the food was pretty tasty - and only $20 for three people, including drinks! Oh my. Now for the real review, I have two words: BREAKFAST. BURRITO. For $7, you get a giant burrito of eggs, chorizo, cheese, potatoes, and tri-tip. It's so filling that my husband and I can share one for breakfast. Glancing over their menu, it looks like everything is priced in the $3.99 to $8.99 range, so it's light on your wallet and heavy on your taste buds. Wish I'd known it was going to take 20minutes for my two burgers before I placed the order. So I'm writing this review since I have so much time on my hands while I wait. Only come here if you have the time to wait. There's only one person in the entire store and she's operating both the register for the gas station and the grill. She is not very personable and you have to initiate inquiries about the grill even if she sees you looking at the menu, confused about whether or not it's even open and if she's the one taking the orders. We went to the Retro at about 815 pm on a Saturday night and the cook said the grill was already "shut down". If they are not going to keep the hours until the stated 11 pm on their website that's fine - then update it. Definitely a different place and the workers were nice and welcoming. What makes it different is it is a restaurant and a store. There's a side where the cooking takes place and then there's the store with alcohol, candies, gums, coffees, sodas, fountain drinks, etc. The good thing is they still provided seating. It was off onto the end. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich on wheat with pepper jack cheese and extra jalapeños. Told the worker the hotter, the better and he laughed with me. The tri-tip sandwich w/ pepper jack and extra jalapeños was spicy and really delicious! Very reasonable too! The meat was cooked perfectly and moist. Great with their BBQ sauce! My wife and I were famished after fasting before blood work. I had heard about the breakfast burritos from a friend and that's what drove me in. When coming in I asked the young man if they had any left. Being after 10AM I wasn't certain. He let me know they didn't but if I could wait 20 minutes he could make some fresh. Retro Junction is the grill inside of the gas station. As a gas station, the store is well stocked with all kinds of chilled beverage options, candies, gums, mints salty snacks and the like. Exactly what you should expect from a gad station. With a Starbucks adjoining the building, 20 minutes was not going to phase us. The reason 20 minutes was required was in the preparation of the potatoes. They are first steamed, then fried into patties for the burrito. I have recently learned this technique, and honestly helped to add to wanting to eat this. He cooked and wife and I got Starbucks coffee. We got back and our burritos were just being assembled. I paid the $14 and we sat in the Coca-Cola booth with a Pepsi table. I have never put tri tip and chorizo in the same bite before. The potatoes were crispy from the flat-top frying and wonderfully flaky in between. The eggs were scrambled and the cheese was sprinkled between the tri tip and the eggs. The packets of Cholula hot sauce added a nice tangy and salt to the mix. Each bite had every component in it. That is the sign of a well made burrito. After eating, my wife felt a little too full. She was ready for a nap. Myself experienced a few burps that had the chorizo flavor on it. So, if you're going to be meeting people afterwards, you may want to get one of the many breath mint options. read more

I like that it's local and not a chain. Feels like I've been driving by here for many years. Never thought it was a place to eat; always thought it was a store. Like a gas station convenience store. Still drove by for years after learning it was a place to eat. It's on a very busy intersection, but very hard to get to unless you already know it's your destination. I hadn't eaten for about 7.5 hours and was on my way to an appointment. Pulled in to this place. Awkward experience. Just weird because there was one woman at the register for the store and no one at the grill side. She just stared at me and never greeted me or offered to help. There was another guy in the store who I thought was ahead of me, but he turned out to be a vendor. Then a guy comes in behind me and we're all standing there. Finally I just start asking questions and she walks over closer to the food. If I was more comfortable and at a new place, I would ask "what would you recommend to a person trying this place for the first time?" That wasn't gonna break any ice here. I wanted to avoid eating a big thing and hopefully avoid fast food breath so I just look up and ask for two sliders and fries. She asks if I want beef, I said yes. It comes to $8.07. While standing there waiting I see a little sign on a napkin dispenser with daily specials. It being Friday I could have gotten two tri tip sliders, fries and a drink for $6.99! I mentioned this and she didn't really care. A man showed up and I think he was the one eventually cooking. He and she started talking loudly in a language I would guess to be Punjab. I waited a long time for my food. There are a couple tables and several diner style tables on the floor amongst everything else you'd expect at a roadside convenience store. I sat down and waited. Well, at this point the food is going to be consumed in the car. I reach in the bag to grab the foil pouch the sandwich(es) we're wrapped in. Turns out they were in a small cardboard tray just covered by foil and pieces of my sliders fell all over the papers on my car seat. I was bummed: the top of the buns were black, like burned! And.... The moral of this story - the food was good! I would eat here again. Vary flavorful and didn't taste burnt. Next time I will eat there. Sliders in chicken or burger style come 2 per plate and if you do the daily special meal deal you also get a drink of any size and some tasty fries. The burgers, in full size come in at a quarter pound with all the toppings you could want, but wait, are you extra hungry for the half-pound (double burger)? Choice of cheeses! The big tasty burger was made to order and served up with fresh toppings of my choice. Oh, wait, the candy store mentioned in other reviews...yes, it is a convenience store, but more with extra cool candy and treats. Dessert anyone? Drinks anyone? Well, the fridge case is totally loaded with beverages of every kind. Did you need some gas and a lottery ticket? That's a different review. One of my CHP friends referred this place. She frequents this location, and I can definitely see why!! The burgers are great! If you've ever visited Triangle Burger, you will know the type of charbroiled/homemade burger taste. The inside is super cute too! I know, it's a convenience store, but, you walk in and instantly are hit with a cute little candy set up of nostalgic candy. It does take a bit of time to receive your order. Driving by this place I thought it was an actual restaurant. But as I walked in I was slightly confused. It's legit like a gas station but has a couple booths to sit and eat. In the corner there's a little area to cook food. It's an All in one stop, very cool. Reminds me of rally's on Shaw and marty? Pretty unique in my opinion. Not very impressed. We were excited to try it, especially my 2 little girls who had hoped for a plethora of retro candies and some good food. Well, that is not exactly what happened. At least a third of the Retro candies were empty. Empty boxes on the shelves. Just a guess, but I bet they had stock in the back but not refilling. At least I hope that is the case. Not having them in stock is even worse when you are literally called the Retro Junction and should always have the Retro stuff in stock. Let's start with the complete lack of making customers feel like you are happy that they walked in to give you money and pay your paychecks. There were 2 gentlemen working the day we went. One of them was not very customer-friendly. Speaking to him, it was almost like we were bothering him or inconveniencing him because we wanted the food that was on the menu. How does that make sense? NEVER MAKE YOUR CUSTOMERS FEEL LIKE THEY ARE BOTHERING YOU TO DO YOUR JOB THAT YOU ARE GETTING PAID TO DO AND THAT YOU ACCEPTED AS YOUR EMPLOYMENT. That was your choice. We overheard this same person suggest to another customer who asked for a milkshake that the FReal machine was good to use. In other words, he didn't want to have to make a milkshake and was trying to weasel out of it. The other young man working was doing exactly that, working. He treated customers professionally and helpfully, he was the one running in and out getting propane for people, and cooking, and handling the register, etc... While the other one was so slow and bothered to do his job. OK, with all that being said, the food was good. My wife loved the cheeseburger (that we waited 20 minutes for with hardly any customers), and so this is the only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 2. All in all, there is an obvious management issue in this business. If you want repeat customers, do better. read more

Takes fleet cards as well. No diesel, you'd have to go across the street to Bad Bud's for that. They do have propane The 2 gentleman running the front have extraordinary service. Dayam! That was one bomb a** burger. Tbh i was a little skeptical even though I'd heard good things, just because it's just a little burger counter inside a gas station. I'm so glad I gave it a chance. It was everything that's good about a greasy spoon joint burger, but with almost a high end gourmet burger quality to it. Friggin' delish! My brother in law told me a few weeks ago that this was the best burger he's ever had. Now he's an EMT and he ate it at like four in the morning so I didn't really believe him but my hubs and I thought what the hell lets try it. Wow omg we both got a double cheese burger. It was juicy, fresh and delicious. It was really 90% meat which was not what I was expecting but amazing. We did have to wait about 15 minutes for our order but it was well worth it. The fries were delicious also. Expensive but you get what you pay for. Now I can say it's one of the best burgers I've ever had. They also have Mexican sodas in bottles and lots of cool candy.
