My brother in law told me a few weeks ago that this was the best burger he's ever had. Now he's an EMT and he ate it at like four in the morning so I didn't really believe him but my hubs and I thought what the hell lets try it. Wow omg we both got a double cheese burger. It was juicy, fresh and delicious. It was really 90% meat which was not what I was expecting but amazing. We did have to wait about 15 minutes for our order but it was well worth it. The fries were delicious also. Expensive but you get what you pay for. Now I can say it's one of the best burgers I've ever had. They also have Mexican sodas in bottles and lots of cool candy. I thought it was a convenience store with a gas station. I was wrong. I had initially stopped in one early morning (@2:00 am) to pick up a couple bags of peanuts and carton of milk because there is nothing open near me. To my surprise inside there were three groups of people eating food from their grill. So I ordered some chicken tenders. They said it would be a while. When I finally got them they were hot, delicious and cheap. Huge surprise on the price. Last night I had a hamburger and fries it was also really good. Well we went there to have a burger and found out that they closed an hour early because they had to clean the grease in the fryer. So, if I have this right the person who works there closed early on a Friday night due to having to clean the fryer. Wow! Burgers are HUGE and Thick. Could use more seasoning in the meat but for a gas station burger this is the spot. Fries are crunchy on outside, soft on inside. The ice cream shakes I believe are made of real ice cream and the whip cream topping not drippy and runny but thick n creamy Self serve Soda came in ANY size you wanted at the fountain machine that had so many touch screen options. Retro Junction is a place to experience food and snacks as if living in the past. Although I fancied the past as far back as the 70s into the 60s, it has come to my attention that this was not a great period for healthy food as these particular eras promoted sugary cereals, sugar filled drinks, Pillsbury home made goodies, and a countless array of Hostess treats. This may be a testament to those early well loved eras, but the fact remains, these eras were responsible for the American habit of overeating and not always making the right choices. Even Swanson TV dinners were high on the marketing value at this time, and they are sodium magnets which can lead to heart disease. They do not readily advertise that they charge extra per gallon to use your ATM Card. When asked why they didn't advertise, the gal at the cash register rudely told me they did and it was in the grass not on the sign. This up charge for the use of an ATM card to pay for gas is BS!!! First time trying today. This has moved to one of the top burger joints in Fresno. Yes it's in a gas station. No nothing fancy about it. Love all the old fashion candy selections though. Sorry back to the burger. I will give it 10/10 the bun is buttery and flavorful the meat is juicy and fresh NOT FROZEN.. Fries are 8/10 lacking flavor could use some fry seasoning like the kind at red robin.. Drinks 9/10 wish they had crushed ice. But they let you pick from 16oz. to 44oz. soda and several flavors.8/10 Customer service could be a bit better. They weren't rude, just not friendly. You get your own drink cups which was not explained to us as we sat there for about 10 min thirsty before our food was ready. Best burger I've had in a very long time. Ill definetly be back. Not a good option for those with dietary restrictions. Cannot accommodate something as simple as a burger without a bun. Didn't even try to accommodate a no bun request. Staff member just repeated over and over "we don't have that on our menu" when asked if I could just get a burger with lettuce and no bun. I left empty handed and gladly handed my money over to Wendy's across the street. I will not be coming back to try again and I will be sure to tell my friends and family how ridiculous the response was. read more

My husband and I were hungry and decided to stop by this place. When we walked in, three people were working. We weren't greeted. They just stood there waiting for us to ask them a question so I asked if they were the ones who take the order for the burgers and they said yes. I asked if the burgers came with the toppings on the sign, mayo, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, onion, tomato...ect and they said yes so I ordered a single with no lettuce add jalapenos and my husband ordered a single with no lettuce and fries. It was quite expensive, almost $23 for 2 burgers and one small fry, they did make it a combo for $18..still expensive to me. Then after waiting for quite awhile, we saw people come and go, we walked around the store and looked at the beverages, candy section, the $1.99 individual disposable face masks in the ziplock baggies which seems like price gouging to me when you can get a box of 20 at Walmart for $10, we heard someone ask someone to work a split because this other employee, a chic calls out every other week because she is always coming up with some type of illnesses,, we saw a couple come in after us, we get handed our food and the guy says 2 doubles for Jerrick and we said no, two singles for Eric so after going back and forth, we realized the couple that came after us got our food. His hands were already on our bag of food. Instead of them offering to remake it, they just made the guy that we don't know who touched the top of our bag and cross contaminated his germs on our bag of food in times of the Coronavirus give us the bag they accidentally gave away. When we got our food, our fries weren't salted and my burger had no mayo, ketchup, mustard or tomato. I ate a few fries and two bites of my dry burger and threw them both away. My husband liked it so it gets an extra star, but between customer service, price, the wait time and the nonchalant attitude about mixing up my order and my burger being so dry without any of the ingredients.even though there were three to four workers there.....i probably wouldn't return. read more

I have a rule I've lived by most of my adult life: If an eatery has tires (i.e. taco truck) or you can buy gas there, I won't eat there. I don't follow the first part of that rule much these days as there are some really killer taco trucks making amazing food. Now I have to make an exception to the second part of my rule because of Retro Junction. It's a gas station that makes very delicious burgers and chicken sandwiches. Totally caught me off guard but was definitely pleasantly surprised. Excellent service all the way through and very good prices. I'm sure this place is not that bad all the time...but today 3/12/19 approx 3:30pm it was horrible. They had this girl must've been her first day, kept messing up everyone's order from food to gas. 3 other employees would just stand there and not help her. I waiting 20min for my food only to realize I didn't receive everything I paid for. So I came back to the store. Employee I think her name was Alexis...seemed irritated and asked me "well did you get charged for it??" Well for the value they are excellent. I would give them 5 stars for their tri-tip sandwiches and mini slider burgers amazingly priced at 199 for the tri-tip and just $0.99 for the burger served the old-fashioned way with sweet pickles however my major complaint is the tri-tip is so overcooked. Everybody knows tri-tip ought to be served medium-rare for 80% of the population. The rest is medium and 10% is well done. If you are in the 10% this is your place. I would advise the people at Retro Junction to perhaps cook their tri-tip medium and if anyone wants it well done stick it in a pot of aus jus or on the grill because you can make meat well done easily but you can't make it rare or medium. I took my clients here for lunch today and that was their complaint as well , otherwise what a great little place to grab a cheap lunch and sit in the old fashioned booths and barstools. I have gone twice and gotten sick. Both times. AFTER waiting 25 minutes for a simple sandwich. Same experience for two other friends. On top of it everything in that store is about 35% more to purchase than say 7-11. Place is awful. Go somewhere else. Don't pay attention to fictitious reviews. read more

Over all, it's not too shabby. The burger itself (I got a single) filled me up decently, good flavor. And in general just 'okay'. Nothing too outrageously stellar, and only a 3 star because your guys' fries need desperate help. Huge burgers, but teeny sides of fries in comparison. I use to come here all the time for late night sliders it was great for what it was. Then they changed the night crew ever since then the food and service has been terrible. The girl is nice but messes up my order consistently! On top of that they burned the chicken just recently and they stack the tables to claim that they are cleaning but no one is cleaning. Great service , a little wait, however if you like fresh food then you'll be patient. The quality and texture of the meat was excellent. I'd say one of the better tasting burgers I've had at as small of a place as this in Fresno. The tri tip was a little dry, but ad a little sauce and you're good. My fries were a little too well done I this occasion, and I'm sure they would of made me a better batch had I asked but my niece was pressed on time. One wonderful thing is when you have kickback rewards which is a union 76 perk you can sign up for, then these dollars go as points on that card. The serve your own coke is super awesome since I'm a coke fan and if you're a Pepsi fan, well you're in a convenient store so you can buy yourself a bottle.
