This is a homophonic establishment. I just got kicked out for making out with someone of the same sex/gender as me. I am LIVID. We were celebrating my birthday. Was I intoxicated? Of course, I was. It's a bar. I was drinking. Also... again, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY. But, as soon as I made out with another girl, I was, "wobbly and not okay for having additional drinks." To be clear, I am a bisexual woman and was very attracted to the girl I kissed. Would they have cared if I kissed a guy? I can't say for sure (because I didn't), but probably not. I'm also writing this review right after I got kicked out, in the same "drunken state" for which I was kicked out. (I'd like to think the quality of my current writing shows that I am in control of my faculties.) After I was kicked out, I walked out all on my own, of my own accord. (It's also worth noting that me being upset with a clearly homophonic bouncer contributed to my being kicked out... but I won't apologize for being offended by your homophobia.) Again... If I could give zero stars I would. We went through their process of going online and signing up for their "guest list" when we showed up with our ticket we were denied entrance. The rude bouncer told us to wait until a few people left. We waited until the band went on break, many people left and said goodbye. He asked them if they were coming back. They replied no. This was the biggest disappointment I have experienced ever. We had plans with friends and family to see the Journey tribute band. I had a bad experience at Retro Junkie. The bartender and the people seemed great. I was really enjoying it. My friend pulled me outside because he needed to talk to me urgently. I go outside and we start talking and he tells me, "We have to leave right now." I said, "Why?" He said that the bouncer talked to him and they wanted me out of there. Story: I did take my drink outside and the bouncer told me that I can't do that. Okay, I took my drink inside, no big deal. I did finish my drink inside. We also had a table with a few drinks on it. A friend told me I could have his drink which was on the table. I went to our table and it was cleared. They threw away some of our drinks. I talked to the bartender, I told him what happened and I was able to get another drink. This is where I was about a quarter of the way done with my drink when my friend had to pull me outside and take me home. I was literally sitting at the bar drinking my drink when I had to leave. My only conclusion is that the bouncer got upset because I had another drink. I believe I did nothing wrong to get kicked out. Thus, I won't be going back there. I might get kicked out again for no reason. The bottom line is that if I did something wrong I should have been told about it. If I didn't know that I did something wrong, how can I fix my mistake? The message to me is, "We don't want you here." I also remember thinking to myself earlier that night, "This would be a cool place to kick it and hang out." Great Rock Bar - reminds me of Rainbow or TOI Thai in L.A. Cool vibe, good drinks and friendly owners. The "house band" (pros who come in for Karaoke night) is CRAZY GOOD! I am NOT one to write reviews but I have to acknowledge what happened on Friday evening of August 13th. I live in Walnut Creek so I love to support our local restaurants, community activities and bars. Coworkers and I decided to stop by here for a final drink and from the moment we arrived It was an absolute mess. While we were standing in line trying to get our ID's checked about 7 security men who are hired by Retro Junkie were dragging a man across the outdoor seating area by his shirt, pants, hands, legs, which dragged down his jeans exposing some of his genitals and butt. I watched astonished as they literally tossed him on his back mid sidewalk and half on the street. I waited a second as the security taunted him, calling him names, waving in his face saying goodbye to try to get a reaction as he was just left there. None of the people in line did a thing. I walked over and asked what the problem was just because truly words can't explain how horrific this scene was (I've been to many many bars, I've seen people getting kicked out, I get It but I've never ever seen anything like this). The security greeted me with absolute attitude and told me he had drank to much and had to leave. I said okay then why did you feel the need to drag him like that and then the man said "woman don't give me attitude, you're cutting me off". By the way, I was not giving attitude, I was seriously so concerned and was trying to help. The man on the floor tried to stand up and took a few steps back trying to catch his footing and was nearly hit by ongoing traffic. Literally I swear to god this man was almost hit by cars and not a single person did a thing. I ran over and helped him to the sidewalk and security laughed and was like "you want to be a Good Samaritan". "Buy his ride home and be a Good Samaritan"..... the EMPLOYEES of retro junkie were speaking to me like this. Granted if he was drunk or not, he was NOT fighting back, not saying a word either. I do not know this man who was drunk but luckily his friends came and saw the ordeal, left & took him. The way the security guards acted towards that man and towards me, who was genuinely trying to help, I WAS/ STILL AM SICKENED. I have been thinking about this for days and I just can't believe that the owners would want employees representing their bar like this. read more

This place was awesome to go to for a place to dance. Since Walnut Creek doesn't have much in that department it was really cool to find a fun spot close to home. There is a big dance floor, pool tables, pinball machines, and what looked like a VIP section. The bartenders were all quick and attentive. The only thing I'm bummed about is that last call is at 1am and they shut down everything and move people out before 2am. Super busy and slammed! I feel so bad for the servers because they were running around all over the place. Orders kept getting confused and forgotten but it is completely understandable due to the amount of people vs amount of servers. I really enjoyed the show I saw here. One thing I was not a huge fan of was how freaking hot it was in the venue and how they don't clearly advertise for a dress code.
