Came here last weekend when I was visiting from out of town. My friend always raved about it. There are amazing brands featured in their window, walls, and shelves. So many that if I didn't easily see it I felt overwhelmed. Luckily the customer service was stellar! I asked if they had Alexander wang and she was able to look in the computer and tell me if they did. Most places would simply say "if it's not out there we don't" I asked if by crazy chance had a Chloe paddington....yup, she pulled it off the wall. I was stunned. I had my Marc Jacobs on me and she pulled down 2 purses that I might be interested in, I loved that she did that. Clearly I'm here to shop so sell me. I walked out with a Kate Spade bag and a Marc Jacobs with dust bag for a fair price. Absolutely filthy. Walked in to inquire about the price of a Chanel purse in the window, as I have a number of similar purses I no longer wanted and thought this might be a good option to sell them. The person at the counter reluctantly retrieved the purse from the window without disclosing the price. Before examining it, I once again inquired about the price and her response was "look at the tag". It was stained on both the inside and out and very poor condition for the thousand dollar price tag. However, regardless of the condition of the bag---it is of course second hand----the sales person was SO rude and the store itself was SO filthy and smelled TERRIBLE that I would not recommend going there for any reason and certainly would never recommend selling any of your valuable items there for consignment. Darling shop. VERY clean n organized. Everything is hung up n in good condition. I was looking for formal dresses, and found two lovely items at nice reasonable prices. Really nice variety and selection. Definitely worth taking a look. N just in case directions etc. are confusing the shop is in the little center with Jon's cafe. This was my worst shopping experience, and I was expecting this to be a great shop, after reading these reviews, however this was not the case. Service none, rude sales clerk, and so dirty, I went into a dressing room, cob webs and dust , my daughter was with me and she said the same thing, to the owner clean up, smelly clothing also, when I went to one of the employees and showed her a stain, her reply was "this is a designer piece so you could pay full price or get a deal with us, then she said other people would buy it so if I don't well ok, I was surprised by her rude manner, and tone of voice My daughter asked to see a ring in the case, the same clerk said "this is expensive, so are you sure.how can anyone say this place is AWESOME. This shop has great stuff and, at times, not so great stuff- for instance, in a recent visit, I observed Old Navy and I've seen Target brands side by side with high end brands. Some clothes in brand new condition, others shabby. The attitudes among staff vary in the same way. However, at the end of the day, consignment shoppers are looking for finds, and if you visit on a regular basis, you will find a better selection than most consignment stores in this area. read more

I LOVE Return Engagement. I have been shopping and bringing things in for years and I always walk out happily with an item that is practically brand new, in perfect shape and the staff is so sweet and attentive. I'm embarrassed to say that it has taken me years to share the info with friends, some people have a 'thing' about resale (get over it! the deals are amazing!) and others just expect Nordstrom's style surroundings (please continue to only shop there so us fashionable types can have the fun of finding hidden treasures!). I've checked all around and can honestly say this is the best place to purchase designers clothing and shoes at reasonable prices. The location is a little off the grid, close to "Always Fabulous", but the store itself is great. The first time I went there, I purchased a few items (Zara, Benetton, Urban Outfitters). I was surprised with a wide selection of designer's purses and shoes they offer. I couldn't expect to find such a fun shop in LA but this place is unique! My friend and I were so pleased that we came back the next week and there were new jeans and shoes so we ended up grabbing everything that had caught our eyes. I've been coming here for years, and I think it's finally time I left a review. Easily one of my absolute favorite resale/consignment stores. I love Alicia (the owner) and her staff! Her store gets in so many amazing items VERY often, I find myself trying to stop by at least once a week. I have found so many gems here over the years, and I have also been able to sell many of my own gently loved items that I just didn't find myself wearing any longer. This place is really fun to shop, and the staff are all really nice, helpful and friendly. They're easy to work with if you are consigning pieces, too. They offer you a check or store credit and ask you if you'd like unsold items donated. Minus one star for incorrect sizing. They put a different size on their tags than the item actually is. For example, a Lululemon piece that was a size 10 was labeled as a small. I found a Milly dress labeled a small, only to find the treasure I'd discovered actually was labeled by Milly as a large, and fit like a large. In both cases I told the clerks, and in the Milly example they changed the tag, but to a medium. It's a large! Why the wrong labels? It makes no sense. The point is, search all the racks because they might have hidden treasure that fits you, it's just labeled wrong. Happy hunting! read more

Really great vintage clothing at cheap prices! My daughter and I had a little shopping adventure in the village, and made our way to our favorite places around town, and discovered a few new ones too! Return Engagement is a great little shop with plenty of treasures stacked and hung everywhere! We ended up getting a barely used Gucci bag for $50 and a designer dress for pennies on the dollar of what the real thing would cost! The RUDEST people work here!!! I have purchased gently used Gucci, Christian Dior, etc. very expensive handbags that cost hundreds of dollars each, on a regular basis. Today was the last straw. After having been rudely accused of theft and not issued an apology once my innocence was proven, I will not be returning to this business. I have been a long time customer at Return Engagement up until now and I recommend AGAINST shopping at this store. Yesterday as I was walking out of the store, Alicia, the store owner waved me down and accused me of stealing. After I opened my purse and showed her that she was sadly mistaken, she did not even have the courtesy to apologize. Instead, she continued to blurt out some nonsense about how she thought my behavior was strange. I have been shopping and consigning there for years and would never think of stealing. I will be letting my friends and family who also frequent the shop know about my HORRIBLE experience. Brought a bunch of clothes that were all BCBG in great shape along with Diesel clothing. I had at least 20 pairs of shoes, fantastic condition, all brand name, Michael Kors ect, I even had a pair of never even worn Born shoes, and mind you all these clothes and shoes were NOT out of fashion in the least. Said they would give me......... a whopping $29.00 for three items, are you kidding me, BCBG clothing, and shoes that haven't even been touched! The Born shoes alone are $150+ at stores. Telling me my clothes would probably not sell, they had Old Navy in there and they are telling me BCBG won't sell, get a grip! Needless to say, I'll never do consignment here. It's easy to find women's clothing here that will suit your mood anything from long dress to short flirty dresses, shorts pants, blouses, shoes, sun hats, and their main sale out accessories and Purses! Let me start by saying that I hate shopping, especially thrift store shopping! Pawing through jumbled racks of musty clothes is my worst nightmare. I came here with a friend who was in in town visiting. The instant we walked in the door my attitude changed. Everything is organized by color, item, size, & style. There is absolutely nothing crappy, ugly or musty in the shop. The most astonishing thing is how inexpensive everything is! Goodwill & Salvation Army charge way more for far less fashion. I'm torn on this place. The staff seemed very sweet, but then they very sweetly told me that my clothes smell like a closet(?) while sniffing one of my sweaters distastefully right in front of another customer. It was an effort to laugh it off, and I don't know if I succeeded with any kind of grace. When I asked them to describe the styles they like for future reference, they basically pointed to my stuff and said not this. Like I said, they were kind about it, but it didn't help me or make me feel confident that a second trip wouldn't be a waste of time for selling. I have been in before to browse and again I feel ambivalent. Some things are killer at a killer deal! Then there was the Forever 21 dress...? I work in fashion and could not get a beat on the style they are after. Usually at Wasteland or Crossroads or Buffalo I can get a feel for the "look" the buyers want for their particular location, but I was lost. Two stars because that is what Yelp says counts as "Meh. I find what anyone has written negatively here about the staff is entirely not true. I have come into the store a handful of times and they have always been so nice and helpful. Yes they are busy checking in clothes and talking to cutomers, but NEVER has anyone there ever been rude. So they people that want to call others names here, just go somewhere else because your nasty attitude does not belong anyway. As for the clothes, sometimes it feels like heaven! I have to limit the amount of times I visit because I always find such cute stuff! I have to agree with most people that denim is their specialty. I also think they have a great selection of designer shoes and purses. I learned just the other day that this store has a lay-away policy which is wonderful!! I'm new to YELP but not new to this store. I love this place. I was just in there the other day and picked up a great olive suede purse. I wasn't familiar with the brand, Carlos Falchi, but once I got home and Googled him, I was quite pleased with the great price I paid. I think they cater to a younger (than myself...enough said) crowd but I can always find a bag, jewelry or something to go with an outfit I already have in my closet. There is a lot of inventory right now, which is good for us shoppers. There is always a sale rack out front and I think they do a great job in their window displays. I find the staff and owner to be personable and helpful. They know me by sight if not by name and I appreciate that. I always get a 'hello' when I come in, and not because I'm such a huge shopper there. I have sold things on consignment there and I feel their pricing is fair. I especially like the' 8 on Tuesdays', where you can just pop in and have them look at up to 8 items while you shop around to fill the gap in your closet. They just simply get 5 stars. I have bought and sold here. They offer consignment as well though I have just sold outright. Super sweet employees-- my hands were full really quick for obvious reasons, they came multiple times to take my to-try-on items. Everything was safely waiting for me by the dressing rooms with a no-touchy rubber band around the hangers. They were just awesome and nice. The dressing rooms are spacey and well lit. The store is clean and organized. Don't expect thrift store prices. Do expect forever 21 prices for real, gently used or brand new designer items. For example, on my second visit to the store I snagged a sick pair of boots I wear almost every day brand new for $12, and a NEW twelfth street by cynthia vincent (orig. $450+) for $30. I almost didn't review because I want this place to remain a secret...but alas, it's already well discovered. It depends on the day, but 99% of the time I find AMAZING treasures here (clothing, dresses, evening wear, shoes, purses, sunglasses, and sometimes jewelry) which always receive compliments and people asking me "Where did you buy that?!" I had to attend a wedding this summer and bought a dress at a dept store, then coincidentally found a much better dress at Return Engagement. If you have an eye for fashion, this place never fails. I frequently donate/sell clothing here too (they pick through what they want to sell vs donate). They are VERY selective as to what items they'll keep to sell, to keep their fashion current, but I've enjoyed a lot of store credit from items which have sold on consignment.
