Staff were friendly and efficient. The food is pretty decent for the area. The ribs were not dry and were tender. The food packs a punch. The 2 meat platter did not seem to be a lot, but I was only able eat about half the tray. The restaurant reminds me of a brewery with wooden long benches. Would visit again. read more

This is the best barbecue in Rochester! My family and I have been here twice now and every time it's been absolutely fantastic! I always get the same thing. I get the pimento mac & cheese, cornbread, and fried green tomato BLT, which is thick cut, bacon iceberg, lettuce, fried green tomatoes with Alabama white sauce on a brioche bun. The fried green tomato BLT in one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The pimento mac & cheese is also so creamy and flavorful and delicious. The inside is pretty spacious with tables all around. It's always super clean inside and the staff is super friendly. I really like that. You never have to wait too long to get your food even when it's busy. They're right next to Tony D's so they share that big parking lot, which is great! when I come back next, I'm hoping to try something new everything on their menu looks really good including the chopped brisket. Solid workup of the former establishment into what appears to be higher end fast casual BBQ. Spacious interior, plenty of seating, and large amount of options. Everything coming out to the order pickup station looked and smelled amazing! I opted for the 1/4 Lb 2 meat & 2 sides as I wanted to dabble. I tried the brisket and the smoked sausage, paired with the southern poblano & cheddar grits and pimento Mac & cheese. The meats were both great, the grits were outstanding, and the Mac & cheese was decent. The one item that floored me was the cornbread - it was out of this world, and I usually skip it due to many places offering subpar cornbread. Place is the definition of overpriced mid. Ordered ribs brisket wings and pulled pork and several sides, overall the food isn't terrible but it leaves alot to be desired. The biggest complaint is everything they served was room temperature. Outstandingly bad. Easily worst BBQ I have ever had. Flavorless brisket. The Mac n cheese side (in addition to being pitifully small) is completely flavorless. Truly, no seasoning, no flavor. I don't know how that is even accomplished. I got a brisket sandwich, which had two small pieces of brisket (cold) and a shamefully small amount of "toppings". This place is NOT worth your time. The cornbread was good and moist, the only redemption. We really wanted to appreciate this - being associated with the Rev we had high expectations. For these prices, please don't bother. I am normally proud to show friends or family from out of town how great our food scene is in Rochester... I'm now afraid of people judging Rochester by a place like this calling itself BBQ. I am admittedly a BBQ snob and have been to at least a dozen of the Top 50 according to the Texas Monthly list. I'd like to think that I know what great BBQ looks and tastes like. That said, being in Rochester the standards are different. It's unrealistic to compare this to TX BBQ but there are a few improvements needed for this to be a true destination. Brisket was dry and stringy, leading me to believe it wasn't cut properly. Flavor was good and I would be willing to give it another go. Pork ribs were cooked to fall off the bone. My personal preference is to have a little bite to the meat so it will come clean off the bone but not fall off. Still, flavor was good. Sausage was my favorite. The balance of jalapeño and cheddar paired nicely with the smoke. Good snap to the casing. Turkey was ok. Not my favorite and that tends to be a sleeper pick at some of the top BBQ spots. For Rochester, this is probably the best BBQ I've had but it's got room for improvement that I truly hope happens. We need good BBQ in this town and I think the learning curve with BBQ takes time and they'll get this figured out. read more

Started at the bar for a couple of drinks before dinner. Asked for prosecco but they had run out. Then asked for an amaretto sour. It tasted funny and when I mentioned it the bartender said he had added bourbon! Why? I didn't ask for it or want it. Really disappointed in what has been one of my favorite places for cocktails. Also not impressed with the menu changes to strictly barbeque. The pulled pork was good but the cole slaw was not! Did not care for the heat in the pimento mac and cheese. First visit here was good as it is located in cool setting with 2 floors. Our server was attentive and both food and drinks were above average. We love bbq and sides are important as well. Brisket was solid and pulled pork too. Kind of noisy upstairs and drink prices high. We'd go again in a bit. read more
