We stopped by and got a Thai iced coffee with boba and the Secret Garden Fruit Tea with boba. The service was pretty quick and the portions were pretty generous for the price, which was nice. We did go on a weekday before it got too busy, which may have contributed to the speedy service. I liked the fruit pieces in the fruit tea, but it tasted more like juice than actual tea. We grabbed a couple of milk teas here on a walk near the wharf and I highly suggest that if you are going to grab a drink here, you order it ahead of time. How deja is my absolute favorite tea and I never pass up a chance to get it. Unfortunately I really don't like black sugar as it can be too sweet and overpowering. But I ordered the Black sugar hojicha milk tea to try and honestly it was fine. There's a huge contrast between the earthy flavor of the hojicha and the sweet sugar and I doubt that I would get it again, but it just seems like a very strange combination to me. I'm glad I tried it though. My husband had the Uncle Earl the milk tea and although there was really no description as to what that was, I just assumed that it was a simple Earl Gray milk tea. He said he also gave it three stars, for me it was a little bitter but that could have been because I was drinking the ncredibly sweet black sugar in mine. The interior of the shop is in desperate need of a makeover. Although it is spacious which is nice and there were four or five people hanging out while we waited for our drinks, it's very old and outdated. So spacious in here with awkward seating smacked in the middle and off to one side, but it still feels like everything is spaced out with so much empty space - even the counter is deep inside the shop. I ordered my usual at most shops - the jasmine milk tea with boba. Boba cups looked a bit bigger than the typical large cup - not a good portion of boba, given the size. I came into TZone with my boyfriend on October 8 around 2pm to grab a boba, and a girl who was working there clearly doesn't understand what "work attire" means. She was wearing a tiny tank top (cheetah print) with her chest practically hanging out and shorts that didn't even cover her butt. My boyfriend felt uncomfortable because she made it seem as if he was staring at her chest for how tall he was but she shouldn't be wearing clothes like that if she isn't going to like it.. This a place where people come for drinks, not a fashion show. It's completely unprofessional, and management should really do something about how their employees are dressing. Absolutely terrible experience. I waited 45 minutes for a single drink. The place was packed, yet only one employee was working the counter and making drinks. He didn't start preparing drinks until the line was finished, and every time someone new walked in, he stopped to take their order, causing the wait to grow even longer. I ordered a drink that came with passionfruit and mango bits. The drink I received was just juice. Apparently there was a sign that they were out of those toppings. Mind you, my gf's drink contained a topping that was out, and they offered a replacement upon ordering. I didn't get the same offer, and was left with $6 juice. Having my typical boba craving while in Monterey, I saw that Tzone was very close to where I happened to be at, so we made a pit stop. The front of the shop is oddly dark, and they had their front door closed that day. So at initial glance, we actually thought the store was closed, until we saw someone else walk in. The middle of the shop consists of a large table, but oddly, all the seating is on the side. We assume this was a remnant of pre-COVID times, in which there probably was bench seating at the tables. And the side seats were a more recent addition with the lifting of lockdown restrictions. If not, there seems to be a rather big amount of square footage that seems like it could be re-purposed for better usage. Service was friendly and efficient, and we were in and out pretty quickly. I opted for a California Journey w/ Honey Boba, which consisted of: pineapple, peach lychee jelly, and peach bits. I found the drink a bit sweeter than my typical liking, and the fruit pieces to not be very fresh. The boba was also a bit firmer than I would have preferred. There doesn't appear to be much in the way of boba selection in Monterey, so Tzone definitely has the lack of competition thing going for it. Although the staff was nice, the drinks here are a pass if you're looking for quality tea (and not "qualitea" that's in their logo). Both me and my friend did not feel that our matcha latte was up to standard. My matcha felt lacking in the flavor quality im used to, especially if I'm paying upwards of $5 for a drink. It had 100% sugar in it, but what was weird was that they used some sort of dark syrup at the bottom... I actually mistakenly thought that was boba when I first saw the picture on the menu. You have to make sure to mix it well but I decided to pass on trying to drink from the bottom because I'm not typically a fan of syrups in my drinks, or at least wasn't sure if it was natural since the ingredients aren't listed in the menu. My best guess is that it might be brown sugar but good matcha shouldn't require a lot of sweetness to stand out. My friend on the other hand got hers at zero percent sugar, which is a good for tasting the actual quality of the matcha. In my friend's words, it tasted like "liquid bread" because something about the taste in the matcha was off. She actually felt Starbucks has even better matcha if we have to compare to other places that don't specialize in tea. Another friend tried a standard milk tea, which she said was OK. Nothing mind blowing though. I feel like it's a pass if you are used to high quality boba, or could be because we live in places where the standard is set high for tea. What a beautiful, spacious shop, serving bubble tea, smoothies, and coffee. I especially love the seating that is set up by the windows. The menu is on display electronically, with detailed descriptions and photos of the beverages. The first time I came here, I ordered one of the Special House Blend drinks by the name of PMS, which stands for Pineapple, Mango and Strawberry. This came with bits of strawberry and pineapple on top. I also asked for rainbow jelly to be added. My drink looked and tasted so delicious! There was a lovely balance of the fruit flavors, and I was able taste each ingredient. The drink was oh so creamy, satisfyingly sweet, thick as a smoothie, and very refreshing. I returned to try the Almond Taro with honey boba balls. I found the combination of almond and taro to be cool and unique. The taste of taro was quite strong, while the almond flavor was more delicate, but still discernible. The boba balls were well made, with the perfect chewy consistency. All of the staff are very friendly and genuinely nice, especially Jason. He answered each question with ease and made the drinks expertly. Both times I visited, there was minimal wait time. I will certainly be back for more drinks, such as Coffee Snow and White Tiger artisan milk tea, which is a blend of Thai Ice Tea with Jasmine Tea. Pretty good tea here. Good service. Most of the tea comes from a mix, but they also have options of just tea. I've tried multiple drinks but the ones that are consistently good are the OG Milk Tea with boba and the Jasmine. You can adjust your sweetness level and the boba is .75cents, the same amount for extra boba, kinda steep but it tastes good and has a good consistency. It's nice with comfy sofa chairs, but the place kinda smells like strong cleaner when you walk in. The people working are friendly people and overall it's a great place to grab a boba or other tasty beverage and play a few games with friends while enjoying good music. Good experience ;) read more

Time to spill the tea on TZONE ;) Delightful employees, a very friendly and gracious guy and a gal, with the gal dressed in a super kawaii anime outfit, and the guy taking down the 'No Boba' sign to let me know they just finished making more. I even got wished Happy Valentine's Day! I ordered the Lavender Earl Grey and it was unique and enjoyable! These are two of my favorites separately so it was fun to taste it together. The boba itself had a nice consistency and the right chewiness but the flavor was not for me. It was just made so maybe it didn't have enough time to seep in the syrup. I do like to have a slight sweetness to the boba like T4 or 85 Degrees near the Livermore Outlets style boba. I just recently had the boba at Pacific Commons 85 Degrees in Fremont and it was WAY too sweet but that's another review. So this boba wasn't for me but that's ok because the drink itself was nice! One of the downsides of having a boba addiction is that when you travel, you have to get boba which can be challenging to find. Tzone is the only boba spot in Monterey Bay/Big Sur area so I guess we weren't surprised by the qualitea. I got the PMS smoothie but it kinda tasted like lots of artificial flavors. I doubt this was all fresh fruit. My partner got this fruit tea but it was way too sweet, you can taste the syrup. At first, we were like at least the drinks are big so this is good value. But after a while, we started to not feel good. I got heartburn (which is rare from boba) and my partner got a headache. We didn't even finish our drinks (again, very rare from boba). read more

And here's why: -The interior is not inviting. -The furniture upholstery have rips. -They need brighter lighting or paint to brighten up the place. -The floor looks dirty, maybe it's the tile of choose but the yellow arrow tape (so 2020 and needs to go!) doesn't help! -They always run out of boba, their main ingredient. -Came here two times within 3 days a couple of weeks ago and they were out of Mochi waffle, the only food item they sell. -They closed out the bathroom for customers since 2020. They're not required by law to provide a restroom for customers but where's the consideration for those they sell 16oz of liquid to? -High employee turnaround. Really bad. -Service hasn't been great. Some of the staff seem to be unhappy with their jobs they look at you like you're so demanding for asking for a couple of straws for your drinks. And with this kind of attitude towards their job and customers, makes you wonder how much work do they actually do behind the counter? The fact that Monterey has a milk tea spot and it's affordable is such a win. Anyone coming from norcal or socal probably have that boba addiction and I'm so glad this was here. I grabbed two drinks here on two separate occasions on my 4 day trip in Monterey - a large plain milk tea and a small matcha latte (pictured) both cost $5.05 each. Considering it's one of the only milk tea spots in the area I'm pleasantly surprised by the low costs - some boba joints in the Bay Are are $7-8 and I think that's bizarre because there is so much selection up there. Are you a boba fan from OC, LA, or SF? Then don't stop here. Jasmine green tea was so flowery to the point it was soapy. Almond milk tea had an odd aftertaste I can only describe as artificial burnt nuts. Recipes vary, I get it. So my expectation is if I happen to order something that doesn't work, the store will remake it or offer something else. Instead, the staff said they couldn't remake anything and they'd refund my beverages, but only one. The most basic tea spot would operate very differently. So, in conclusion, avoid this.
