Gonna put my one complaint on top. What would make this five stars is consistency. My husband and I have ordered out from here several times in the last few months because we absolutely loved our first try. But each time was different from the last. The first was an absolute knockout! Tender, fatty brisket and moist pork. Our second time, the brisket was...smaller and definitely dry. The pork was dry, kind of burnt, and cut in a weird way? I wish I could better describe it but that's what I got. Then another time I got ribs and the ribs were definitely dry. But then another time I got the brisket again and it was amazing!!! The sides are very consistent. The Texas toast is not great, in my opinion. It was thin and not really toasty/toasted. The cornbread is alright. Mac 'n cheese is a standard mac. The slaw is good. But if you get any of the sides, get the potato salad. It delicious! I'm actually allergic to it (I have a weird egg allergy....it's complicated) and I still can't help but sneak bites of it. We keep coming back here because when it's good, it's really good. But when it's not, it's such a sorry disappointment and waste of our budget for eating out. But I have a lot of hope for this place. I hope it gets better because, again, when it's good....it's really good. read more

Exquisite urban environment with lots of space and very family oriented staff. My buddy and I tried out Revolution for the first time this week and overall had decent things to say. Thankful that the prices don't take advantage but noticed that my buddy's order of ribs surprisingly made it out of the kichen, extremely fatty and lacking flavor, required a lot more digging and scraping then restaurant ribs I have become used to that rather fall off the bone with a few pokes and nibbles. Surprisingly Cheddar's comes to mind as some of the best ribs in the area. He should have ordered the pork or copied me for briscut! My 8oz was tender, nicely seasoned, soft enough, quite generous with the sides too unlike *cough* the new Ripple place nextdoor *cough* - I made the silly rookie mistake of saying beans for a side meaning the green beans but ended up with the basic beans. Would have been fine but the heavy beans along with my wonderful thick chili made for rich sides, filling n all but I'll do the slaw next time. I sampled the potato salad, rave reviews easy! The bar area is a splendid mix of classy and neat, great specialty slushies for the refined adult still trying to grow up. Of course I got the whiskey root beer! So good! Stuff of pool parties in fancy beach houses, a good size too, overall fitting well with the meats. Ended with an apple pie because they were out of banana cream (weeping), crust was very crusty and filling quite sweet, still easy to eat. We stopped here for a late dinner on a road trip from the Chicago area to Cincinnati and were very pleased with our meal. It was a Friday evening, so the downtown area was quite busy- but there was a lot of outdoor seating in the Covid-19 era. This restaurant almost has 2 spaces- a counter service space and a full bar area. I tried a froze beverage from the bar- it was very refreshing on a hot day- and the bartender was very friendly. We ordered our food at the counter service space, and they were friendly and efficient. I had the ribs, potato salad, and coleslaw and thought it was all quite good- my husband felt his brisket was just alright- but also really enjoyed his sides. This was such a great find! My husband and I love barbecue and this restaurant totally nailed it. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous with rich, brick walls. The bar looks super cool too! We started with Whiskey + Cherry Coke and Winter Sangria slushees, and they were amazing! Wonderful flavors and the consistency was perfect. For dinner, we shared one of their platters -- the pulled pork, but we also added the brisket to it. We got sides of potato salad and Mac n cheese. The platter came with Texas toast as well. Everything was DELICIOUS. The brisket and pork were more traditional -- slices of brisket and roughly pulled pork, which we really liked. The Mac n cheese was also....incredible. The meal came with four barbecue sauces -- the mustard and strawberry jalapeño were my favorites, and my husband was happy with their original. They also had a hot barbecue option! Food was good, unfortunately they are rough on the organization end. 15 people standing outside waiting, they opened late. One of the people waiting called to alert them that they had a crowd waiting, still took a few minutes before they let us in. Disorganized at taking orders at their main single register, finally they took people to a second one that's had no numbers, trays or a way to get drinks. Tried to order some of their sides, were told they out, even though they just opened. They also were out of forks! Shame since the food was good, but at the prices they charge it's unacceptable. We ordered takeout and opted for the Friday special of the day, the Smokehouse Burger. It's a burger topped with pulled pork, cheese, onion and strawberry habanero sauce. The burger had a very generous amount of toppings, and the bun was homemade. It was a great combination of flavors! We loved the sauce, tasted like strawberries on the front end and then hit you with the heat. We opted for the creamy slaw and potato salad as our sides. They were listed on the menu as $4 apiece, and because I was paying by card, the waitress showed me the screen - and although each charge was not delineated, it was more than $11. PRE-tip. I asked what the extra $3 was for, and the waitress said it's a new "service charge." This wasn't listed on the menu, or a door, or anything. And it wasn't for the use of the card; the system was way less convenient for those in my party paying cash. It's sneaky and underhanded. I might never return. read more

In town for a band competition. On the way to town we were looking for a gluten free dining option. We stumbled across this restaurant. Turned out to be a great option. We ordered carryout. Cool vibe if we had stayed to enjoy on site. The chef came out to verify our allergy needs before completing our order. They wanted to make sure they met all our needs. Very reassuring for them to take the time to be accurate in preparing. Food was very good. Large portions. Great flavor. The bama white sauce was good on everything. Very good! Went with hubby twice to eat at Revolution BBQ. The first time I got the ribs which were very tasty and he got the pork BBQ - fresh and tasty! He loved the Mac& cheese that came as a side. I got potato salad which was excellent! The corn bread comes as a waffle - very unique! The restaurant is cozy, with rustic tables throughout, exposed brick. They have a bar also but since we are not drinkers, we haven't tried any of their alcohol. There was no wait when we went, and seating was plentiful. The utensils and napkins are on the tables which is unique. They have a selection of sauces to try as well. The second time I got the chicken which is what I wanted to try the first time but they were out the initial time - the chicken portion was plentiful, although it was a little pink. We had such a wonderful birthday experience at Revolution Barbeque! Lafayette can sometimes feel like it's lacking in good, solid restaurants that know what they're doing, but I can say, whole-heartedly, that Revolution Barbeque has all the knowledge. We sat-in the restaurant, despite their booming carry out service, and enjoyed our time with all of the other patrons. For a Thursday night, they were surprisingly busy! There is a main dining area and then a craft bar area to the other side of a bricked wall. We opted for the bar area which had some dimmer lighting and a moodier ambience. We were immediately greeted by the bartender and my partner ordered a special bourbon cocktail. Whoever made their cocktail menu definitely knows what they're doing, because you'd have assumed you were in Chicago or Nashville. A bit pricey for Lafayette standards when you're staring at the menu, but just bite the bullet and order the drink, because they're well worth it. Beautiful presentation and such a nice experience. I would say Revolution Barbeque would be a nice place to come and just have a drink, but... how could you resist NOT eating something? The food came and we were so impressed. We had actually ordered 3 sides between the two of us, however they mixed up our orders with another tables and made good by correcting our order and providing us with an overall total of 5 different sides to try out! We had the mustard greens, the Mac and cheese, the baked beans, the slaw, and the potato salad. Now, I am probably the pickiest eater under the sun, but I can tell you, whoever is cooking this food knows how to make a damn good side. The sides with the waffle corn bread were outstanding. I mean, straight out of the south. And, at a BBQ place? To rave about their sides? That's saying something. I had never had mustard greens and they were stellar and something I'd eat any day. The baked beans were out of this world. The Mac and cheese was amazing. I don't know what was in the corn bread, but I can say it's safe to say that it should be illegal, because I'm sure it's highly addictive. I am not a meat person at all, however the BBQ was so rich in flavor and so finely crafted. I never eat an entire sandwich and I can say I downed mine within a couple minutes. Granted, it comes with a lot of meat, so I pushed a bit to the side! Now I have leftovers for this evening's meal. Such a nice experience for a birthday meal and such a nice addition to downtown Lafayette.
