Pros - Prices are very affordable - Speed of food readiness - The white toast that came with breakfast was thicker cut and super tasty (almost taste like Texas-toast style of tiast) - The gravy for my skillet (which they forgot and I had to ask for- no biggie) was really good, although not very warm, still good! Cons - Service was horrible. I know people have bad days, but our service was less than desirable. Not friendly. Didn't check to see if wanted more coffee or water. We've lived in Lafayette for around 7 years and this was our first time visiting. Man, have we been missing out! The food was so good and we can't wait to go back and try more! My husband, mother and myself went on a Friday night, all you can eat fish night. You had your choice of catfish, perch, or walleye and two sides. We each ordered a different fish so we could try them all. They were all delish! We also ordered the bread pudding for dessert to share and it was delish as well! A very special shoutout to our server, Steven. He was EXCELLENT! It has been a long time since we have had service that is above and beyond. He was very attentive, but not overly so. I was super impressed with his attention to detail... Mom and I ordered waters. They came and each had a lemon in it. I gave my lemon to Mom. When Steven brought us fresh waters, mine had no lemon and Mom's had two! He had noticed! He also brought the waters well before we actually needed them so we had them ready when our first glass went empty. And, Steven was just all around great guy! VERY friendly and funny. We loved the fish lunch, macaroni and cole slaw the first time we ate it. Went back and the slaw and macaroni tasted different. Not as good. We tried the AYCE and got 2 pieces of the walleye and 4 pieces of perch to start. The waitress returned and asked us if we wanted desert. We said we would like more perch. My wife had the Prime Burger Sliders and we both had the $ 2 mini beers. The staff here is totally amazing and friendly. Service was fast and efficient. We also had a dinner carryout as well. Stopped in this morning for breakfast. The Tavern opens at 6am to start serving food and then alcohol sales begin at 7am. There are booths, tables and bar seating available. The dining room is a big open area. When there are a lot of people inside, it can be kind of loud. This morning was relaxed and laid back. The morning crowd leans older in the morning. There are individuals that have come in for breakfast before work and others that are retirees catching up with friends. There are 3 or 4 beers on tap, including Yuengling Lager. The cooler has a good selection of domestics and there is liquor available. They also have Busch NA as a non-alcoholic choice. I ordered the steak and eggs and the eggs were cooked just right. The rib-eye was good. It took less than 10 minutes from the time I ordered until the time I was eating. The staff is friendly and so are the patrons. The bar is 21+ and non-smoking. There is a heated, enclosed patio with tables and TVs for smokers. They have daily food and drink specials and are active in Social Media to share information. read more

Tick Tock Tavern blew two chances to impress on Sep 26 and 29. ROUND ONE: First and foremost, their inattentive wait staff. It was 35 minutes from order to food on table. Strange b/c three tables that came in after, got their food well before we saw ours. When food did arrive, the tenderloin and onions rings were perfect HOWEVER, two orders of biscuits and gravy and hash browns arrived at room temp and were sent back, and another wait (7 minutes) began. The waitresses were not the least apologetic about the wait and poor food handling. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was VERY LOUD MUSIC for noon on a Thursday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Oh, and the unsweet iced tea must have been made with water from the Wabash. It was bad, arguing with the waitress, if I could get her attention, would have been another agonizing wait to turn around. ROUND TWO, just this morning seven senior women (one was my mom I'm reviewing for) arrived at 8:55 and were promptly seated at a reserved table. Orders were taken promptly. Many diners arrived after and were served in a timely manner. After 30 minutes the party tried to flag down a waitress to ask when their food would be ready. According to one woman "they kept swiftly walking by like they had blinders on." At 9:50, these patient women were able to ask a waitress how much longer for their food to arrive and were told another 20 minutes. They got up and left, SEVEN OCTOGENARIANS WITH EMPTY STOMACHS. Tick Tock Tavern in a few days, lost a total of ten customers solely because the staff waiting tables were either over-whelmed, preferred their regular customers or both. So glad we discovered Tick Tock! Their new ownership has provided a delicious and imaginative menu. The servers are so nice and friendly, service is top notch and the prices are reasonable. Everything we've had here is delicious--both breakfast and dinner. (Haven't tried lunch yet, but we will!). Their Brussel sprouts are delicious and their sinful chicken sandwich is fantastic. Porto tenderloins are crispy and just big enough to give you crunchy goodness outside the bun and a generous portion of tenderloin inside the soft bun. Their bread pudding is one of those things that gets in your tastebuds and you can't wait to have it again! We've had several appetizer--all good. Their calamari is delightfully crisp on the outside and wonderfully tender on the inside--a rare find in the Midwest---more like what you'd expect on the coast! My son and I have visited this place several times to have couple drinks, appetizer then we order something to take home. food has always been good, service is great. I'm not sure what to think now. I called there on my way home on a Saturday late afternoon to order to go food. I was told there would be probably at least 30 min. wait maybe longer. He then told me we are packed and have several orders in ahead of you. I said ok thanks for letting me know I'll call somewhere else. I drove by about 15 minutes later, on my way home, and there where 6 cars in the parking lot!!!! I almost turned around and went in to order and confront the young man that I was talking to earlier but I thought no I'm not going to do that. This is the easiest review I have ever written, Tick Tock is the ultimate and easy fun value meals in an unassuming common grounds environment. It's not in a great location but that adds a bit to the country vibes. Us three guys were served up immediately having to take a good moment to look over the huge menu and observe the many creative and fantastic ideas, reuben omelet!? Well ok! We went for the good stuff as my photos show, breakfast burrito and eggs benedict too. I have to commend these people on wonderful attention to giving proper good eats at fair prices that combined with quality easy heating entrees makes for the most universal restaurant in the area. This is the place for anyone, anytime! We will definitely be back for me to sample the whole menu by year's end. I loved the chili, my buddy ravaged the burrito, and the corned beef wasn't messed up at all as too common for small homely spots to do. Made for a mouthwatering original omelet tho we felt the thousand island could better serve a drizzle inside along with the beef and sauerkraut. The atmosphere features the usual TVs for a few games and large bar but twas too early for us to sample. We noticed a good assortment of cars in the parking lot from a newer BMW Z4 with the twin turbo inline 6 to a Smart car further adding to my opinion this is a spot for everyone! Nice sized dining area. This is a 21+ only place so there really isn't a bar area - it's the whole place. They stopped allowing smoking in there a while ago, and I couldn't really smell the residue either. They also had a really nice outdoor seating area in front of the bar. Not sure if that's a smoking section or just standard seating. I ordered the six buffalo wing appetizer & breaded tenderloin sandwich with waffle fries. Food was served on metal trays. I thought that was a great divey touch. Wings tasted pretty good, though very light on the sauce. They are seasoned well so even without much sauce I enjoyed these. Ranch was not great. Tenderloin sandwich was head-sized as expected. I suspect they marinate it nicely before breading and cooking, because this was very juicy and flavorful. Tiny tomato on top, but again, that's expected. You just don't get many toppings on tenderloin sandwiches. Possibly the best (of many) tenderloin I've had in town. Waffle fries were overcooked, but still ok. If you're interested in eating bar food, this is a good option and I would recommend trying it out. Prices are reasonable. 10% check-in coupon on Yelp right now, though you should mention that to your server when you arrive - mine brought the bill before I could do so. read more

It's a pile of food almost a Western skillet with hash browns and sausage added to it! A lot of food for the money! Another dollar gets you a full order. We ordered 1 Bloody Mary and received two, which was fine because I was willing to drink it, but it was made with some cheap vodka and just wasn't that good. Overall just not as great as I had hoped. Having one server and one person in the kitchen may not be normal, maybe we just came on the wrong day? But I definitely will not be coming back anytime soon. read more

The Tick Tock has been around for decades as a dive bar, but it has been expanded, updated, and is now smoke-free. I went there today for what may have been the first time - certainly the first time in as long a time as it takes to forget. I was there with a very large group of close to 20 people. And the Tick Tock was short one server! Remarkably, our server did as well as expected. A couple of minor mix-ups but nothing concerning. I ordered the classic breaded tenderloin sandwich, the barometer by which all dive bars in Indiana are measured. The tenderloin itself was too large for the bun as is required. It came hot and the tenderloin was delicious. It was the rest where the sandwich fell apart, literally. There was one small slice of tomato and a bit of lettuce. I put mayo on the bun and it fell apart immediately when I picked it up. I upgraded to waffle fries with cheese. There really wasn't much cheese to even notice, although the waffle fries were crisp. Luckily it costs only pennies to upgrade the fries. Many of my dining companions ordered the chicken and noodles which comes poured over a scoop of mashed potatoes as most Hoosiers prefer. They raved about the homemade-like noodles. One diner asked for an order to go but it was sold out! It must be a Thursday special because it's not on the menu. Go for lunch on Thursday and go early if you hope to get any. I was happy enough with the food, the company, and the service to consider returning. And the prices are dirt cheap. read more
