I've only visited this place once (actually twice in a single week) when I was in town for a beer festival in the area. But I've been drinking their beers for years prior to my visit and continue to do so. I'm not sure they're universally known for their barrel program beers but that's what I primarily know them for. During my visit, the place was pretty busy due to all the other people in town for the festival. And they had plenty of aged barleywines and stouts on the menu. My fave. Despite the busy room, it was really chill inside. The space is pretty huge. My second visit that week we bought a pizza from Pequod's and brought it here for our group to enjoy with the fantastic selection on tap. Of the breweries I've been to in the Chicago area, for me this ranks among the top. read more

Lmaaooo remember how I don't like breweries without food? None of those breathless rants apply to Revolution because I love this place and always have - even waayyyy back over a decade ago when they actually had a restaurant/brewpub. The beer is so good on its own it doesn't need food to carry it. Note: you CAN bring food in - and we did on both visits. This location is special to me because we had my brother's baby shower here 13 months ago - and his baby's first birthday celebration there this weekend! Kind of amazing really :) The space is airy with nooks to make a cozier vibe. The bar itself is great and selection is top notch. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and can easily match what you "typically" drink outside the brewery to what they have on draft. The workers cleaning tables and setting up were friendly and helpful as well. Beer highlights: The Fistmas was an excellent festive beer My family members got the porter and it was delicious as well. 4.25. Best brewery stop so far in Chicago. Place was really cool inside. I was there on a Saturday and it was packed. They had a decent sampling of beers available. I opted for two small pours of barrel aged stouts, both were great. I then had a small pour of an Octoberfest and it was just okay. It has a good vibe here and is huge inside. All the staff were super friendly and very talkative, in a good way. They have tons of barrels aging beer inside. The canning line was running steady while I was there so you could see all the beer being canned and then packaged. They had to go beers and merch too. read more

I got to visit Revolution during The Barrel Run tour and this place lives up to the high praise reputation everyone gives it as a great brewery. Formerly a Garrett's popcorn factory, Revolution has a perfect venue set up for a brewery. Big bar area with the lostd of picnic table style seating. Great beers, pretty cool merch, and they even have inside bicycle parking. If it's available I'd recommend taking the brewery tour to get the full experience. read more

There's even a little side store where you can pick up some Revolution brew essentials. The staff is incredibly generous, friendly, and easy to work with. It's the perfect place to visit after work, whether you're alone or with a group. It's also a great spot to bring out some out-of-towners or have a relaxing brew with Mom. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid-back, with good music that doesn't overpower the conversation. They always have a variety of beers on tap, and there are some snacks available as well. If you'd like to order food, you can stop somewhere or use Uber Eats to bring it in. I love this place because it's conveniently located near my house, and the service is always great. Revolution Brewing always delivers with their quality beers and from personal experience I don't really feel like you can go wrong with any of their beer selections at all. For this particular location Steve and I had the West Coast Hero, an Imperial IPA that we really liked. We often get tired of IPA's due to not really being able to distinguish them from one brewery to another but Revolution Brewing can be counted on to leave a unique and memorable signature in our minds. Flavor highlights with this well made IPA are fruity, piney, citrus and dankness all very well balanced in which nothing was too heavy handed in the flavors. This IPA was great but I can also confirm their dark beers are amazing as well! read more

What can you say about Revolution that hasn't already been said? It's been a Chicago institution for at least a decade, slinging quality beers and forever immortalized in "Drinking Buddies." Pretty cool vibe at this giant warehouse spot, surrounded by giant tanks and beers sleeping in barrels, you feel like you're peeking behind the curtain while you enjoy one of their selections. Always fun music and a funky movie playing on the monitors, it's a big spot where current safety standards are taken seriously. Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of their yearly offerings, though they are consistent as can be. For me, it's all about the barrel program. Our first trip back in a while was to sample the Deth's Tar 2021 variants, from the fresh raspberries to the deliciously balanced coconut. While slightly thinner in body than, say, their counterparts about five miles south, the flavors are right there, particularly in the non-adjuncted showcase of the Weller barrel. Just superb. Good crew. Good hang. And very good beers! read more

My wife and I recently hosted a post-destination wedding party for our extended family and friends at the Revolution's Kedzie Brewery/Taproom. To sum it up, we had a fantastic time! Stephanie and Kat from Revolution were super easy to work with to organize the party. We put together a great menu and drink plan that fit our budget. Our favorite part, of course, was the tasting day where we got to stuff ourselves on all the delicious things that Revolution catering provides to narrow down our choices. The day of the party everything went off perfectly. The staff were fun and helpful. There was plenty of food for everyone. We even brought in cakes from an outside vendor that they plated and made available. I've been a fan of Revolution beer for years, so it was great to finally visit the Kedzie location to take the behind-the-scenes brewery tour. As one would hope, the tour also includes some Revolution beer, and we got to try a couple of diverse tasting beer samples. Our tour leader regaled our group with interesting stories about their beer brand, production, the movie Drinking Buddies, and more. The tour is just long enough at around 40 minutes in duration, and with the beer drinking it is quite enjoyable. Even if one does not take the tour, you will have a good time at Revolution. They do not serve food, but on this particular Saturday there was the Empanada Bike selling food, and several parties that ordered pizza to eat there. read more

I am finally one of the cool kids who toured Revolution! This place is super fun (you can bring food in), with great local libations and regular daily tours ($10) if you are so inclined. We did the tour with friends recently, and it was very nice, with a funny and fun host. He kept our drinks flowing and was very informative as he discussed the business. The tour gets you a few drinks and a cool can cooler that is a nod to our Chicago flag. It lasts around 40 minutes and is fun and totally worth it for the price. read more

Fantastic selection of barrel-aged beers. I only wish we had a place like this back home.

Huge venue with tons of beers not available at the brewpub. And while they distribute anti-hero everywhere, I'm always glad the Revolution taproom has lots of non-IPA options. This most recent visit was especially great for a couple reasons: 1) Tried the barrel aged Wolf Point Mead. Holy cow. This was incredibly smooth, sweet but not icky sweet, super boozy, just incredible. I'm trying to find more of it now... 2) the Deth series is seemingly always on top, whether it's last year's, this year's, doesn't matter. This time it was the maple deth that was really good. I've had others and it's a great barrel aged beer. 3) Keep the Oktoberfest stein was great. It was so much more affordable than Metropolitan who wanted $10 for the stein, but Revolution charged just a couple bucks on top of the beer. This is 100% going to keep me coming back. As always the venue is awesome. the feel of a German beer hall, huge warehouse space, activities and tons of space. Can't wait to return read more

Huge space! They are great with COVID-19 precautions, keeping the place clean and the people distanced. I just have to give it a 3/5 because the beer is...eh. In comparison to a lot of the surrounding breweries, their beer isn't that outstanding in my opinion. I'd come here for a place if you're in a big group and want beer. read more

Such a good place to bring your friends to enjoy some good @$$ beer! Me and my group of 3 landed here on a busy (the norm) Saturday night already buzzed from a couple other joints. This place is very cool as you can see how the beer is made while sipping from the bar. I got to sip on the very awesome Double Barrell Lynott's Stout for most of the night. Their selection here is very good and everyone here is happy! Aside form the bar, there is plenty of seating as well as shuffleboard and photo booth. Cant wait to come back here! read more

Revolution brewery makes A LOT of beer. On my favorite beers of all time list, Revolution takes the cake. Rise, A Little Crazy, and VSOD are some of my favorites. The brewery tour is free and you get one free can of beer. Luckily for us, A little crazy was in season and that's what we got! Arrive early to make sure you get in. We had a large crowd with us. The tour itself was short ~30 minutes and it was more of a sales pitch than it was a tour of the process of making beer. The guide just kept repeating prices for their beers and it being a pretty good deal. I've been to about six brewery tours and that tour ranked last. If I didn't already know that I loved Revolution's beer, I probably would have a poor view of them based on the tour. If you're a stout lover, they have an amazing selection of stouts. Most of their beers have a high ABV. Great lounge area with plenty of seating, free popcorn, and games like cornhole and shuffleboard. Their merchandise on site was really cool, but it's on the pricey side. I recommend going to their other location on Milwaukee for good food. read more

I was lucky enough to be in the neighborhood of Revolution Brewing during my visit to Chicago, and I am so glad I got to visit this Tap Room! Revolution is THE brewery to be at. I love how very roomy this location is, and how fun and chill the environment can be. I am a big fan of sour ales, so I tried Freedom of Speach, and it did not disappoint - just the right amount of sourness and tartness. The space is huge, they do free brewery tours, and you get to sample their newest experimental brews that you can't find anywhere else. I sincerely hope their latest offering, Northeast Hero, is one that goes into regular production. It was spectacular! It's high time for a Revolution update! Since my original review a few years ago, I moved within walking distance of Revolution, it's become my favorite hangout in the city, I discovered my favorite beer there, I've had a birthday gathering there, I commiserated after getting dumped for the first time, I joined their Rev Brew club, went on a first date here, hung out here alone, hung out with friends, went to release parties, lost a hoodie here... So in short, much has transpired at the Rev Taproom on Kedzie. I much prefer it over Revolution's Brewpub on Milwaukee as it's a bit less busy and more chill. Revolution is the taproom with the best beer in the city. I'm a beer chick, beer geek, beer aficionado - whatever you'd like to call me, I know my ish when it comes to carbonated alcohol. They always have a ton of beer on tap and you can't go wrong with anything you try. It's all a matter of opinion but I love their Deth's Tar and a bunch of other stronger beers. Anti-Hero is pretty much a Chicago staple in stores and you can always get it on tap at the brewery. I discovered my favorite beer in the world Chicago Smoke at Rev which is basically a delicious campfire in your mouth. It's not on a regular schedule so whenever it pops up, I get my growler full. They have the best release parties for their more special beers. I've been to a couple now and even though lines get long, they handle everything very smoothly. Plus, at both I've been to, they had some free food made with the special beers being released. At the Deth's Tar release, the BBQ and desserts were so mouthwatering delicious. Revolution does one of the best brewery tours in the city. It's free. It's incredibly informative. And you get a can of Anti-Hero to drink while you're roaming around. I've done it 3x with friends. BYOF - Bring Your Own Food! Though they usually have popcorn. Always love their music, staff is beyond fabulous, super chill atmosphere at all times. And since my review a few years ago talking about my only gripe, yea they fixed that. Prices are all listed on their chalkboard, as well as their paper menu. My review is based on the tour and beer. I was part of a birthday party on a tour. The tour itself was very educational and based around the history of the brewery, it's name and logo. During the tour we sampled one of their beers. I was drawn to their barley wine, Straight Jacket - 13.1 ABV. It was so good! Good one to just sip on. I also tried their Spirit of Revolt which had a pretty interesting history regarding Domestic Violence and fundraising. I also tried Freedom of Speach. All 4 beers were really good. I was impressed with the facilities and the long list of beers brewed here. I don't know if all three beers (Spirit, Freedom, A Little Crazy) that we tasted were part of the tour but if they were, it's pretty sweet deal! I bought my barley wine. We also received a glass which again, not sure if it's part of the tour. We had pizza but it was good to know that people have the option to bring food from the outside. There were a couple birthday parties taking place. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Revolution Brewery screams local! Definitely support this brewery. Check it out for yourself.
