Likely one of the worst places I've eaten. $90 meal for two diners and one appetizer. Coke is from a can, no refills. Shrimp cocktail is 7 small shrimp. We had a ribeye and a sirloin. $32.95 for a sirloin smaller than my palm and 4 broiled shrimp, no seasoning, no flavor. Prime rib was medium, so had to order a ribeye. Oh and the sides are potato or vegetable. The vegetable was corn. Maybe step away from the carbs. Service was good, waitress was kind. Salad bar was basic. When we left, hostess picked up her phone, said "have a good" and stopped to read a text, then many moments later said "day". Place was clean. Salad bar clean. Won't be back.

The restaurant is big with a nice bar area. My old fashion was not muddled. The best thing of all was the woundful salad bar including soup. They brought us yummy hot bread. We each had the ribs, which was good, not great. The service was excellent.

Bad menu and ambiance, expensive, my steak was overcooked and not grilled. Also, an NRA supporter.

Consistently good, amazing fried chicken, solid salad and soup bar. (This is weird to yelp about a place I don't remember first visiting.)

No glitz...not fancy...just an older Wisconsin supper club with great service, great food, and good prices.

Thankfully, I had already pinpointed as somewhere I wanted to go. The vibe was absolutely excellent .. a dark bar is my happy place so I was pretty thrilled. The bartender was super helpful, immediately got me the late night menu, and continued to deliver excellent service until I walked out the door. I had an excellent steak sandwich with a baked potato on the side and was very happy that I had found something to eat at such a late hour. Food was delicious, would definitely recommend. An authentic Madison experience for sure.

After waiting to be seated, we waited nearly another 20 minutes before our waitress came over. I can understand getting behind, but this pattern continued all night. Our appetizers (escargot) and then food both took forever to come out, and the waitress rarely checked on our table. We nearly got up to leave before the appetizer arrived (which I've never done before). To top it off, the steak sandwich was mediocre and overcook, and my friend's steak was also unimpressive. Still giving this review 2 stars since the atmosphere is neat and our escargot was tasty and buttery, but I doubt I'll be coming back to the Tornado Room.

Personally, I prefer estate grown and bottled wines from their corresponding appellations, not a central processing facility. It's also likely your waiter is probably gonna make a pitch for you to join the wine club. We came here for the food and to try some of the wine with the dinners. Sitting down then looking at the menu and seeing the prices, my expectations definitely went up. Our very attentive waiter Rory recommended some drink choices and set down a complimentary warm loaf of bread. We started with the sweet chili calamari. It was a very large battered portion coated in a thick Ponzu glaze that was perfectly cooked. I got the prime rib sandwich with a side salad and my guests had the Napa chicken salad and gnocchi. The prime rib had some good medium rare sliced beef, but the aus jus was oddly sweet and it was not something I'd order again. The Napa chicken salad was nothing real special and the chicken was as cold as the refrigerator it came from. As someone who works in the wine business, the sparkling brut and Pinot Noir were hardly worth the price. We all agreed the food was a little underwhelming for the price. Great atmosphere and service but the food and wine doesn't live up to the price point. If everything was half the price, I'd be back. 10 informative photos for your consideration.

Special hats off to our server who allowed us to grab a table in the back. A cute and homey interior with random artwork-it was loud with the full house. An eclectic menu which leans southwestern offers a decent variety of dishes although vegetarians might not have too many options. I wasn't that hungry so opted for the biscuits and the poblano risotto. The chef doesn't hold back on the flavor-bold, spicy, intense. The biscuits were dipped in a smoked chili butter and honey-best eaten with a fork. The risotto was well prepared although a little soupy. Again, big bold flavors. Opted for the house made carrot cake-it didn't disappoint. One of the best I've had. Definitely a place I will come back to as it's a 7 minute walk from home.

We waited about 20 minutes before getting seated. Once we sat down, drinks came out right away. I ordered a Sprite and it was actually really good and crisp. The buns were soft and buttery, but the cinnamon butter everyone raves about wasn't really my favorite. I could taste the cinnamon, but I wasn't totally sold on the sweetness. We ordered the mushroom portobello chicken sandwich and the grilled chicken salad. The sandwich had great flavor and the chicken was cooked well. The salad was good too, though I did ask for no egg and there were still some egg crumbles in it--I just ate around them. I had it with the Thousand Island dressing, which I liked. Our server, Stephanie (I think), was super sweet and informative, which really stood out. Grabbed some peanuts on the way out. Overall, a solid spot with good food and great service.
