It was an overcast day but still warm enough to enjoy sitting outside, which turned out to be a great choice. We were quickly seated for lunch, and our server was attentive and friendly throughout the entire visit. We both ordered the chicken tortilla soup, and it was amazing -- incredibly rich, flavorful, and comforting. Definitely a standout! Service and food were both excellent. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the inside of the restaurant smelled a bit stale, and unfortunately the women's restroom had an unpleasant odor. Really hate writing this because Wicked Cantina on Bradenton Beach used to be one of our go-to spots. We've been coming here for years, referred tons of people, and genuinely loved this place. Unfortunately, the food quality and service have seriously declined over the last few months. We ordered the Wicked queso(almost $14 now) and it came out ice cold. When we mentioned it politely, the server looked at us like we were stupid for bringing it up. No apology, no concern. It came back missing the guacamole and was still barely lukewarm. Then the fajitas arrived. The meat was unbelievably salty, like it had been dumped in salt, and the vegetables were completely burnt and charred beyond edible. What really made the experience worse was the attitude. Every issue we brought up was met with annoyance instead of customer service. Not once did we hear "sorry" or "how can we make this right?" It honestly felt like they couldn't wait for us to leave. It's disappointing watching a place we once loved go downhill like this, especially in such an amazing location. Great place for inexpensive to moderate priced selections. We really wanted grouper tacos, which they had grilled or fried options. So we chose both. One plate of grilled with refried beans and rice, and one of fried with black beans and rice. Both delicious. Menu mentioned these tacos were a bit spicy. They were moderately so. Relaxed come as you are atmosphere. Good food, although island prices are steep to dine out. Wait was long... tables in the bar area were open but were not first come first serve, which was confusing since all the other restaurants we visited nearby allowed that. Service was great, especially for such a large party as we had. The waitress didn't lay some rule on us but instead easily matched every parent (at one table) to their kid(s) at the second table. Ambiance is seriously cool and right off the beach. Solid place and we went a few times and will be back again next trip. read more

Had a great experience at Wicked Cantina. It was within walking distance which made it an easy choice. The carnitas tacos, brisket tacos, guacamole, and queso were all great. They have outdoor and indoor seating. There are fans on for the outdoor patio. The service was great both times we dined there. It can get super busy! Definitely recommend the margaritas! read more

I'm not one to hate but we've waited an hour and 45 min, watching people seated after us getting food. I was cordial until it didn't matter to any that no one was taking care of us. Manager said it's a holiday weekend. It was less than half capacity!!!! Not hey let me get your drinks or a I'm sorry we don't know wtf we're doing. ( that would of been nice ) bartender was slow and stoned out of his mind but we actually got drinks once we told him that we we're standing there for drinks and not our health. lol I say avoid this place , put them out of business, let them learn customer service the hard way. read more

I haven't eaten here in several years, so we stopped in for a Taco meal and Burrito dinner. This is a very popular beach restaurant. With Fast service and traditional chips and salsa, that were served warm and quickly. We had a very attentive server, which is always a plus. Our table was inside, and outdoor dining was open. This is walking distance from most places to stay and it is well worth it because you get a beach side view. Because this is island time, I do recommend to pack your patience as a customer. I grew up in N.E. Texas and have been in the restaurant business for over 50 years. I recently visited this establishment and was extremely impressed. I wasn't expecting to find authentic Tex-Mex in Florida, but damn, they hit the ball out of the park. The place was clean, the menu covered all the bases, and the food and service were exceptional. Dined here 3 times on a vacation to AMI. My family and I are always on the lookout for a good Mexican style restaurant while on vacation and this fit the bill. Average pricing for the area. Food was really good, blackened mahi tacos were my favorite. Daughters taco salad looked pretty good, younger daughter had kids taco which she liked. Can't remember what my wife had but I know there was no complaints. Queso dip as well as the complimentary chips and salsa were great. Good margaritas! This review could've been a 5 star for the food and ambiance but I have never in my 51 years on earth come across a more miserable bar tender in my life. Her name was Gabrielle and from the moment we walked in and sat at the bar to order food and drink she didn't crack a smile or be welcoming. Every request was met with distain and a grimace. Honestly don't do the job if you hate it. It made an awful experience and night out for us. When the food was great and tasty. Her attitude totally took away from all the good. Wow just wow at how bitter and miserable she was. We even tried to engage and nothing absolutely nothing. We went here this afternoon around 2:30 for the first time. There was a wait for outside so we sat inside. Brooke S. was our server and she did not smile one time. She asked us what drinks we wanted and we told her twice. She proceeded to bring my boyfriend the wrong drink after quite some time. Then after 10 minutes she still hadn't brought the water he ordered so I had to stop her. The food was brought by what looked like a manager who was very nice. Brooke checked on us one time and immediately brought the check before we were even done eating our entrees, meanwhile our drinks were empty. We also wanted separate checks but she did not even ask so we paid together. It was pretty disappointing because she did not appear to be busy at all, walking past us multiple times with no sense of urgency. Food was delicious! The view here is terrific -- but the traffic noise -- the restaurant sits on the east side of Gulf Drive -- is steady and not a pretty sight, kinda adds steel and engines to the vibe. Our server was attentive and good. The food tasted fresh, was visually appealing, but the salt was overwhelming. My beef taco was so salty I couldn't finish it. For starters, their chips, salsa, and Wicked Queso are a must have. The queso is filled with your choice of ground beef or chorizo and peppers. You cannot stop eating it! Some of their standout items are the Pork Verde Chimichanga topped with Guacamole, Lettuce, and Tomatoes drizzled with that Wicked Queso, an unbelievable bite of food. Location is amazing--just across the street from one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever been to. Sunsets in Anna Maria are spectacular. Food was very good, service was pretty good considering how busy it was (Tuesday evening). The one thing that was kind of annoying was the wait--we were put on a waiting list (party of 6) and the wait was close to an hour--when we could clearly see tables opening up and it seemed that folks were jumping over us. I understand the size difference of a party of 2 as an example, but it seemed a bit excessive. We ended up having to talk to the hostess several times and asked her if she could just split our party to sit at 2 tables on the patio, and once we said that we were seated in probably 5 minutes. read more

My wife and I were staying on Anna Maria Island and it was days before a hurricane came through. My friend said that Wicked Cantina was real good, so on our first day, we meandered about 1/4 mile down the road to get some dinner. I ordered the grouper tacos and some IPA. Super nice server and we sat outside and they had live music going as well. Really nice atmosphere. The tacos were delicious, fresh fish great beans and rice completed it perfectly and the chips and salsa were addictive and warm and solid. This place has such a cool vibe! Love the outdoor seating and we went during prime dinner time and no wait. They did have live music, but I wasn't a fan. It did t fit the restaurant. Food was mediocre at best. For an app, we ordered the Queso. It was $12 dollars!!! Insane. I didn't care for it, but hubs said it was okay. I had the fried grouper tacos, rice, & fries. My husband had brisket tacos with rice and beans. The tacos had a piece of group that was maybe an 1 1/2". Maybe a bite. The shells were burnt. Rice was not flavorful. Fries eh. Now I did find a hair in my food. Normally would freak out about this, but we sat by the door and that could have been my hair because it was super windy. I did send my food back and the waitress did take it off. I just ate the fries. We did order two desserts. Key lime pie and the red mex cannolis. Both were good. Our waitress, Sydnie, was the best waitress we have ever had on the island. She was attentive, but didn't hover. She was busy too! Tables inside and out. She was friendly and observant.
