The service department was fantastic. I sent in an 05 Legacy GT Limited for restoration/repairs. They were very accomodating, and very receptive when hashing out jobs with the Master Tech. They were very transparent about what was actually needed vs. what would be easier to DIY. Overall, pretty good experience with the service department. Now, for the not so great. The body shop. The quoting was vague, obscenely overmarked, and they were unwilling to even try to work something out for both parties. They didn't want to take the job from the start, but instead of being professionals and simply saying they only really work on insurance claims; they decided to fabricate a bs quote. Don't take your car here if you want body work done, but they are still relatively good for general repair/maintenance. read more

Questionable Product, Mediocre Customer Service, Broken Agreement We started business with Reynolds' in Apr. 2023. We found a 2017 Crosstrek Premium in their inventory and made a Friday appointment to complete the purchase. The day of the appointment the sales rep was surprised to see us and stated he expected us the following day. We informed him I only had Fridays off. They scrambled to prep the vehicle and manage our trade-in. While completing paperwork we noticed the vehicle mileages were swapped. We completed the purchase, but when we got home noticed snow tires despite heading into Summer. We contacted our sales rep and they agreed to give us new all season tires if we paid for labor. When we arrived the sales rep hadn't informed Service. Two months later we noticed humming. Both rear wheel bearings needed to be replaced. This was covered under the 60 day guarantee, but a nuisance. Sept. 2023 we paid off the car and contacted Reynolds about gap insurance payout. They needed to determine responsibility for payment; insurance company, bank, or dealership. We followed up through Nov. before being at Reynolds for service. During service we were told the exhaust needed to be replaced for $1800. Due to poor sales experience, poor service from Finance, and multiple repairs soon after purchase we asked to see the sales manager. We told her about the sales experience, gap payout, and repairs. She agreed to cover the exhaust and follow-up on the gap payout. She got gap paid in mid Dec. It had been on the desk of a finance rep that left. For the next service we requested a loaner, which was confirmed. Service checked us in and sent us to the front desk for a loaner. We were told no loaner was left. We informed Service we would be waiting instead of dropping off then waited for them to fit it in. At Nov. 2024 service the front ball joints needed to be replaced. We requested to see the Service Manager. He was in a meeting and parts weren't in stock. Service said they'd order parts and follow up. When we were given the keys our car was blocked in. After this appointment we no longer wanted the vehicle since it had five underbody part failures in 18 months. We emailed the sales manager, service manager, and owner about our concerns and requested a trade-in. We met with them to discuss our concerns and wanting to trade to a low mileage certified 2021 or newer Forester Premium. They said they'd take care of us and wanted to maintain their reputation. They offered two options; 2021 Forester Premium ~60,000 miles not available for test drive and 2021 Forester Limited ~30,000 miles that we test drove but needed inspection and certification. Before the test drive they put a hold on the Premium. After the test drive we said we're more interested in the Limited, but wanted inspection results. We left with an appointment for Wednesday and agreement both would be held. The used sales manager left a voicemail that night confirming the Limited was held for us. Tuesday he cancelled the appointment because the cars weren't ready and he would call on Friday. I called Wednesday to request numbers. I was informed he took the day off, so I left a voicemail. Friday he hadn't called by mid-day so I called. He hadn't discussed deals and would call back in an hour about our trade in and the Forester Premium. I said we also wanted numbers for the Limited. He called back three hours later. They would give us market value for our trade in, didn't have numbers for the Premium, and another Premium was coming Monday. I asked about the Limited. It was sold to a couple who looked at it before us. I asked if they had a deposit on it or if it was held for them. He said no. He agreed they allowed someone to go ahead of us despite holding that vehicle for us. I voiced displeasure and said we needed numbers on the Premiums the next day. The next day he said they'd offer list price for the Premiums. Not what we expected when they said they'd take care of us and the owner said he wanted to maintain their reputation. I have been going to Reynolds Subaru for years, so this is not a one-shot visit and review. I also have two Subaru dealerships closer to where I live. If you are already using another Subaru dealer or you are considering another car (They sell boats too) then it is worth your while to check them out. First of all, the dealership is family-run. Not to sound corny, but I feel like a family member when I walk in. Lol. Everyone I've encountered has treated me with friendliness, respect and professionalism (Ok, there is a bit of humor thrown in too). The car processes have gone smoothly and they have always been under the prices of the other dealers. The service dept has always tried to accommodate my needs. One time I was worried about a short hesitation while driving, and when I called, they told me to come right down to make sure the car was safe to continue driving it. Bobbi has been my salesperson. She has an upbeat, amazing personality. She cares about the sale, but takes the time to get to know who you are and what your needs are. Watch out for her dry sense of humor. Ask her for a good recipe too. Lastly, if you need a quick vacation, the property has a beautiful water view that you can see from the deck-yes, I said deck. You can sit on the deck, along the water or inside-where the treats are. Overall, it's a beautiful environment. I forgot- If you refer someone, you get a nice check in the mail to use for future use. We have been a customer for years, purchased five cars from them in the last 10 years or. Had an issue with an outback after running over a piece of something and they gave me a quote over the phone of $1300 to repair everything. All the parts didn't come in, but they build me for all the parts when I picked it up incomplete due to a parts back order. The bill when I picked up was $1370. But now when I find out that the other part came in (a day after I picked the car up) they want another $200 to install it. To their credit they responded after I spoke to my salesman who I have bought a few from (he is great) and I got a call from the service manager and they are going to install the part N/C and honor the verbal quote. Give them credit for responding once they were made aware, and if you like somewhere, then in a constructive way let them know and see how they respond. To their credit once aware they stepped up and supported a long term relationship. read more

Bought a new ascent from Reynolds. Looking for a few months. Was so sick of seeing the "market adjustment fee" that dealerships are passing on to the customer now. The best is when they have it lower then MSRP but then add the fee. Reynolds does not add this fee, price is MSRP, so in the end it was the best price between numerous dealerships I researched. Sandy was great and it was the least amount of time we have ever spent signing documents. No push for the extra warranties etc. We would definitely buy from them again and the fact that it's local made it even better. Highly recommend. read more

Top rating for sales and all other services here! I'd searched numerous dealers on line & had a lot of callbacks, but none were as courteous and helpful as Jen Segal. She was careful to listen to my desires and to meet them. She quickly resolved a very minor matter the week after the sale when I stopped in. She worked very hard to help me decide what to do about the car I arrived in and went above and beyond to assist me. The finance person was very thorough and provided clear and valuable information about my financing choices, and went over all documents line by line to be sure I completed understood and agreed before signing. Jen Segal sold me a great used Subaru Forester. Despite the blistering heat she made sure I knew all about this car and about other options in this model and some other models. She did not try to get me to buy a new car at all. Definitely recommend this long established family dealership. We have been doing business with Reynolds for 25 years including cars, boat engines, and repairs. This is not an easy place to drop off and pick up because it is out of the way. I had a brake job done with rotors turned that lasted less than 200 miles requiring new rotors. Although I put on few miles this auto is garaged 100% of the time. Their explanation was siting around with little use caused the rotors to fail. Not really an acceptable explanation. Although I was not charged for the parts I was charged for labor the largest part of the bill. My belief was the original rotors should have been replaced initially. In recent times they have lost a step or two. Its not the cost of repair its the time and effort to get there. read more

I pulled over on the side of the road with the automatic transmission oil temp light flashing the brake light flashing, and I was pretty worried... However, i called up Reynolds Subaru and was reassured that even so late in The business day they could take my Subaru and log it into the system for the next business day. They were closing soon, but they stick around just to give me a drive back to my place!!! The loaner car was gorgeous by the way. When they did the service the following business day my Subaru was repaired within the same business day they started the work!!! I got a brand new transmission valve, two new axles, break pads, resurfaced rotors, and an oil change for a very reasonable price considering all the work! I can't emphasize how amazing it is that they did all that work within one day. These guys are amazing they, and they leave your car spotless. Just took delivery of a new car that I purchased for my wife. I signed a binding agreement with a non refundable deposit for a fixed price in the beginning of January with the understanding the car may take a few months to come in. I was fine with waiting since the contract to purchase was binding for a fixed price. When the car arrived in April I was informed that the price increased by $345. I pointed out my displeasure and was informed that if I did not wish to pay the extra amount, they would refund the deposit and sell the car for more money to someone else. I payed the extra and took delivery of the car. So much for honoring the terms of a written agreement. What should have been an enjoyable experience ended up being a very mediocre one. read more

I am so disappointed in the service at Reynolds. I drive very far and go out of my way to buy my car and get it serviced at Reynolds - never do that again. I took it in for general maintenance which was exorbitantly priced only to have to return 3 more times because the car was worse after I left. They talked to me as though I was an idiot - I'm not, which is just misogyny. I was talking on the phone speaker when I drove in the 2nd time and drove out with it no longer working and they tried to blame me. There was no kindness and no service. I think they thought they could keep my car for days or weeks without ever updating me and when I complained they told me their tales of woe instead of apologizing for the total lack of service and communication. I took my car away without them even looking at it after 3 days. I will never go back and I only buy Subaru's. read more

Not complaining I was provided a loaner car but a day after picking up the car we began to have engine trouble. We had to have the car towed back to Dealership. There was a wire that came loose at least that's what I was told. They never offered to reimburse us for the tow. I guess that was my problem! We also had a $200 pair of sunglasses stolen from the vehicle from the time Durable Radiator of Waterbury picked it up to when we picked it up from the Dealership. I'm not generally one to write reviews but.... I went here after test driving an XV Crosstreck at another dealership. I sat with Mike and discussed for a few minutes what I was looking for. Blue witn a 5M Transmission. He found the car with some additional options that weren't quoted in the price at the other dealer and offered to match the price. Good start. I put down a deposit and the car was delivered from VT. I took delivery on Monday and the car had a small dent on the drivers side A-Pillar. It was brought in today to be fixed. Coincedentially, a car cover that I ordered for it arrived today as well. The dent was removed, but a small blemish was left in the paint. It would take sanding and recoating to repair to "like new." This blemish is very small and really not obvious unless you knew what you were looking for. However, Mike and Hayden gave me the $150.00 car cover for free to make me feel better about the blemish. In short, I got the car I wanted for a good price. There was a small issue that Hayden, the VP and Mike, the Sales Person were proactive about "making right." When I am in the market for a car again, I'll be coming back and would recommend Reynold's to anyone else in the market for a new car (or boat) as well. B Good read more

On the recommendation of a friend, I went to Reynolds Subaru today to check out the Subaru Ascent. I have to say that I did not feel welcome. I walked in and wandered about, looking at their displays and brochures, for about 15 minutes. Although there appeared to be unoccupied people at their desks, no one offered to help me or even greeted me (including the person at what appeared to be the reception desk). Made appointment for brake inspection. The inspection revealed I needed rear brake pads. Took 3 hours and then I was told by my contact Marcia that the brakes weren't quite right and could I possibly come back another day.?? Was told it would take another 45 minutes if I wanted to wait. I agreed to wait and after the technician took my car on a 25 minute test drive! So I get my car back and noticed the brake pedal when engaged went almost down to the floor board! I complained and went back and they machined the rotors again and said it was okay. It wasn't. Same problem. Stay away from this place!!!! read more

We came all the way from Torrington, 1.5 hrs, and overall had a good experience. Jim Lockhart was our salesman and was very friendly. The sales manager, Nora, was very helpful. We bought a 2015 Crosstrek with a manual transmission in September of 2017 that had been on their lot for about six mos. Upon delivery, they were very accepting of our two pitbulls and we were happy with everything. This dealership is kind of a destination place... the roads are winding to get there and the highway isn't very close. It is on a main road, but not many other businesses surrounding, so you don't just drive by really. We were attracted to this dealership by their good reviews and the vehicle we were interested in was a certified pre-owned. Upon pick up, the vehicle had been detailed and the seats were still wet... so not only did I get to drive home with a wet butt, but it kept making the passenger seat belt alarm go off. Then, once on the highway, the car kept popping out of fifth gear. Come to find out, the shift fork was bad, the syncros were worn down, and it needed a whole new fifth gear... this was covered under our CPO warranty thankfully, but I dropped it off at my local Subaru the next day and was without my new car for a month. Next, upon pick up after a month my local dealership brought it my attention before doing the work on the transmission during their walk-around during write up that there was front end damage on the bumper. We picked it up from Reynold's at night and didn't notice. They denied ever having delivered it that way, but were kind enough to have a driver pick up my car and drop off a loaner and was without my car for another week. Next, the radio broke and wouldn't play CD's, so of course we needed a new radio to the tune of $1000. At the same time we needed the radio, our tech and my personal friend told me that our tires were below the wear bar and supposedly the car was delivered with 7 32nds of tread. $800. Now, our battery is dead... $225. Now we needed a complete brake job for brakes delivered at more than 50% of brake life. $850. For a CPO vehicle bought Sep 2017, we've already sunk over $3,000 in. Pretty disappointed and likely will not buy from them again. I do have to say though, they're always willing to help. read more

To whom it may concern, Reynolds Subaru is probably the best dealership in a 60 mile radius (as far as I have shopped). I have shopped their competition, and I used to do most of it at Secor Subaru. Something changed there recently. My sales rep left, and the service department just isn't the same. Anyways, I took my business to Reynolds and in the past 3 years, I haven't had a single complaint. Service needed? No problems. Problems found? Fixed right away. Last minute appointments? Sure thing. Loaner cars? Got you covered. What about new cars? No issues there either. I wanted a very specific car with a specific options package. So, the car was ordered and arrived early by two weeks. While on the lot, I saw my wife's next car as well. We worked out a deal right there and then. A week later, we have two new cars from them with a very good price and payment in place. Approval was instant. Financing was fast. Everyone from our salesperson (Sandy), manager (Nora), GM (Hayden) to financing was very professional. Courteous. Professional. Caring. Understanding. Not something you'll see written about a dealer. One last thing. I service our cars there, and when we had an issue pop up, they warranty repaired it right away. No fuss. No muss. Purchased new 2017 Outback from Reynolds and had them service vehicle from start. I took vehicle in for multiple point inspection, oil change and tire rotation and was charged and paid for service with credit card. While clerk was processing bill to credit card I noticed from notes on rear of paperwork that tire rotation was not done due to canvas showing on rear tire. I examined the multiple point inspection which showed all tires being within limits and safe. When I brought this to attention of Service person I was given refund for payment of work not done and told that they were busy and hadn't spoken to mechanic. Had I not noticed the handwritten note I would have driven away with an extremely dangerous vehicle putting me and my families life in danger. I was completely dissatisfied with the response from the Service Manager and Reynolds Subaru and will never do any business with this company again. read more

First off, this has been 15 months in the making, deciding whether or not to write a review. After 15 months, STILL extremely dissatisfied with Subaru and specifically how I was treated by Reynolds. Would give no stars if I could. Dealer Maintained 2004 Forester XS 4 cyl, bought it new. Followed all maintenance notices/advice/recommendations/recalls from dealer. Never missed one. Driving back from vacation (serviced right before vacation), wiper fluid wasn't working, got home and the electrical lead to washer reservoir pump was not attached. Was disconnected for service, not reattached. Come on! Air Conditioning clutch went out, they cleaned it, never got it working quite right. Eventually replaced it, never quite right, didn't cool well at all after that always intermittent cold/warm air, perfect on hot days. Head developed external coolant leak at 170K or so, 8 years old. Was $1600-2000 to fix. Was told it would take a few days, got it back in less than half the time. Surprise! Problem was that now the car had developed an oil leak, never leaked in entire life. Taken back to dealer, work performed no charge to fix. Keith stated that they had reused a particular seal. I was floored, should have been new/replaced for what I paid. So they completed the work with a new seal, no charge. Why be cheap and not replace all applicable seals, wouldn't think there would be any question about not reusing seals? Fast forward 12-24 months. Driving on highway. Car hydrolocked. Check oil res, full beyond capacity (coolant in oil), head gasket blown. Talk to service dept, $2,600 for them to diagnose, possibly another $4,500k to fix the engine. So $6,100 to repair and drive an 11 year old car with about 200K on it? This was all after car was in for $1,000+ exhaust work 2 days prior to blow-up. Stated this fact over the phone to Keith, was told "Ahhh I've been waiting for this. Look it was catastrophic, sudden failure...." Did not come off as very friendly at all. It had also been in for regular service fairly recently before the exhaust work. (Isn't customer always right, don't they want return customers?) Was told that I should talk to sales, they could probably give me a break seeing how it was dealer maintained and I just had it there for the $1,000+ exhaust work. Called the dealer, spoke to salesman, explained situation, took him HOURS to call back. I called numerous times to see if any movement on what can be done to incentivize me to purchase another Subaru (Subaru Love), was told by salesman that he was waiting for owner to be back. Finally contacted me offering me $800 credit towards purchase of new car. Slap in the face. Clearly the sales and service department did not want me back as a customer. Last time I spoke to them I stated that I was dissatisfied and would NEVER buy another Subaru again. Now a proud owner of a Ford Fusion, it has been great! I laugh at the Subaru commercials about "the most cars over 12 years old on the road" or whatever. Sure, as long as you don't mind a leaky head gasket on a poorly designed engine and have to plunk down $2k to fix, so that it could then catastrophically fail on you on the highway. Bottom line, spent $10K on dealer service/maintenance issues over the life of the car 11/2004-4/2015 which ultimately netted me an almost 200K mile paperweight. But at least I'm free of the Subaru Cult. Go Ford! read more
