I fell for the bad tipper list
    Shannon D.

Great little spot to grab a drink! Door man was friendly, bartenders attentive and friendly and good selection of beer! Bartenders shine here!! Super fast service and made everyone feel like a "regular." Definitely would return for a drink. The bad tipper sign made for a funny conversation.

A very unique spot in the downtown scene. If you are looking for brain freeze, this is your spot. I follows my cousins lead and got a frozen beverage. The flavors were good. I went with a banana flavor. There was live music so that can't be best and it allowed you a warm environment while drinking something cold. This must be an amazing spot during the summer.

City Tavern was amongst one of our stops on the night out. Friendly people, like the door man who was cracking jokes with us as were the bartenders, but it was kinda dead and the music was eh. So it was better than say Sharkey's, but the scene just wasn't there. We had our one drink and again like Sharkey's has a divey feel, full of regulars who were fairly chatty. A newlywed couple came in with their party which kind of livened the place up but even then outside a little friendly exchanges it was kind of like a sip and watch sports spot on any given night of the week as opposed to a warm Friday night where all the other spots in the area are lively. I'd try here again if I'm in town and would suggest dropping in to see what's going on if you're looking for something somewhat low key.

So I'm giving the City Tavern an "A-OK". It totally served its purpose for us but that's about it. We wanted to watch the SEC Championship game at a place that had audio for the game on. We were heading to Sharky's but came across this place first and it worked out just fine. They have plenty of TVs and the audio to the game was on but not too loud. It doesn't really have a lot of atmosphere or ambiance. But that didn't really matter to us since we were interested in the game. Drinks are reasonably priced and there is a pretty good selection. The service wasn't great though. They only had one bartender and he appeared to have a foot in a brace or cast of some type so stuff was very slow going. You'd have to time your visits to the bar as to try and avoid others as waits were pretty long at some points. There was one server working the floor delivering food and we asked her if she could run our bill for us (just one tab for all of us) but she couldn't/wouldn't. So again, it was OK. We found what we wanted but there is definitely room for improvement.

    Long love the purple paladin.

Best late night bar in downtown. Genuine people and always a good time. Highly recommend the purple paladin! It doesn't taste great but it gets the job done. Cheersington my friends. Great bartenders!

Staff was very friendly, and it seemed to be a fun atmosphere, but it was way too noisy for us. Very crowded on a Saturday night.

I love that they constantly have new menu items and features so you can keep coming back again and again for something new. This last time, I ordered some sweet potato pancakes (that must have been a special because I can't find them on the menu now) and they were SO GOOD!!! They had nuts in them and they were not too sweet which was surprising in the best way. My wife got the classic chicken and waffles and loved them and our 3rd wheel got an omelet. He cleaned the plate so we know it was realllll good. We also got the fried okra as an app for the table and we were all big fans. The sauce took them over the top on flavor. We have never had an issue with the service. They've always been communicative and friendly, offering great suggestions on the menu. I love the inside of the restaurant. It fits the vibe of the menu very well. It feels very hometown southern which is perfect because it is my baby's hometown and we will continue going back every time we visit.

I was hungry and didn't know what or where to eat, not like there is a lack of options, but did I want ramen or something more local in regional flare? I picked the second one. I ended up at Tupelo Honey because fresh southern fried chicken sounded amazing and this place wasn't going to break the bank. I guess this place is a chain but I didn't know this until I was eating. The staff were beyond friendly and attentive and they answered all of my questions about the food. The restaurant was super clean. I ended up ordering the half bird with original seasoning on it. The seasoning the put on it is a crystallized honey power and something else in it, it gives the chicken a nice sweet flavor but not overpowering. They also have a spicy version for you spice lovers. The half bird came with 4 pieces as one would expect, the crust was crispy and the chicken was awesome. I was eating the dark meat and couldn't get over how juicy it was. The real test as you all know is the breast, is that going to be dry? Nope, it was so moist and flavorful, it was a home run. I guess they brine their chicken for some good amount of time and it shows. My sides though I wish I would have gotten more adventurous, the meal came with two sides so I got a salad and the fried potatoes as a recommendation from the waitress. They were good but the mac n cheese looked better. Overall this place is great and I would go again. It's right downtown and the service was fast and friendly. Great place for some fried chicken .

Right from the way it looked to the way it tasted, there was consistent lackluster vibe. The vegetable bowl was an afterthought of a dish, very unsure brussel sprouts thrown together with a handful of carrot slivers, some odd bits of grains and a very forlorn handful of dry tofu. The fried egg on the top made it edible and I was glad that I asked for it. The crunchy bits of garlic on the side seemed like a fear of commitment. An entry that is named roasted garlic vegetable bowl should claim it loud and proud in every bite. Grouper hoagie... let us just say at that the fries on the side were the highlight of this dish. Very underwhelming experience saved by the fact that our seating was very conducive to conversation, round tables for six, what a brilliant set up and lighting and noise level just enough to enjoy the company. I might just bring take out here to enjoy the ambiance!

We had a reservation so we were seated quickly in a big comfortable group - party of four. The server was a bit quirky. A little "too much" if you know what I mean. The wine list was amazing. So many choices. We shared the Brussels sprouts and a shrimp lettuce wrap. The sprouts were fantastic. The lettuce wrap I do not recommend. The shrimp had no flavor. They should do a spicy Asian sauce on them. I got the chopped salad as a starter. Loved the dried cranberries. Dressing was a little light. Also, very hard to eat with a fork. :-) For the main, I got the filet cooked medium rare. I was eyeing a $100 A2 ribeye but I was someone's guest and did not want to overstep. The filet was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Only $49. Guessing it was 8 ounces. It was served in a Worcestershire jus that was excellent. Also came with mushrooms, asparagus and small potatoes.
