I've been with Dr. Riahi for endodontic work (root canals etc) for 6 years. He is an excellent professional and a wonderful person and would recommend him without reservation Dr. Riahi is professional, meticulous, and thorough. His work has led to fantastic results! The last time Dr Riahi performed a root canal I went from unbearable pain to instant relief. I went from taking pain medication for weeks prior to the procedure to requiring no pain medication the following day. I was so incredibly relieved and grateful for the medical trearment. Having had several root canals in the past, I fully expected some degree of discomfort during the procedure--but there was none whatsoever. Dr. Riahi is clearly very experienced and exceptionally skilled. As a physician with my own medical staff, I also paid close attention to how he interacts with his team. He consistently treated everyone with respect, always saying "please" and "thank you" when asking for instruments--something that, unfortunately, is not as common in medical offices as it should be. Dr. Riahi was recommended to me for a root canal. He is friendly and has a vibrant personality, but the office staff is another story. Fortunately, my insurance covered the root canal, but I witnessed the staff being rude to other patients in the waiting room. Money seems to be the central focus. The day of the root canal, I was totally loopy from the meds he told me to take. Also, I have had residual sensitivity in the tooth. This review is not on Dr. Riahi but for the front desk staff. I had a root canal done a few months back and had to come back in for recurring tooth pain. When I called to make an appointment for treatment the secretary by the name Bria refused to schedule an appointment for me until I paid my previous balance off. When I asked about a payment plan she said the Dr. Riahi refused to see me for a treatment until the balance was paid in full. My balance was $3000. So either I had to pay $3000 now or suffer in pain for 3 months with a payment plan. I have never experienced such hard medical treatment. As a nurse, i will never tolerate people who only treat the rich and wealthy.... I am fortunate to have been able to pay off the balance but didn't want to give this office another penny given how harsh they were. I would not recommend this place. I was in tremendous pain and Bria just laughed and told me "this is a private practice and the balance needs to be paid off before you can be seen again" I found an amazing dentist who stayed late the next day on a Saturday to do a root canal on my tooth. That treatment cost $325. $3000 vs $325? Just make sure to shop around. This place is ridiculously expensive for no reason and have zero compassion. Very unfortunate. read more

Avoid at all costs. I went in to check whether I would need a root canal treatment in April 2021. I was not seen by Dr. Riahi, but another doctor, who performed a couple of tests over the span of 5 minutes or so and told me that a root canal is not necessary. When I left, the representative at the desk told me that there will not be any payments necessary for the visit, as it was just a couple of tests. Almost a year later, the office sends me a bill of $311. Fortunately, my insurance covers most of it, but I was appalled to see that they sent me a bill exactly 11 months after the visit happened. They claim that they sent me a bill to my mailing address, which I have no record of verifying because I had since moved to a different address. They did not try to make any communication in between, whether via telephone or e-mail. When asked to produce the record of their attempting to make communication with me regarding the bill, they could "confirm if the email and the address that they tried to reach [me] on is correct." And that's all that they could do, obviously, because they did not update me via any channel of communication. I would not leave a sensitive and expensive treatment like a root canal to an office that mismanages customers at this level of inefficiency. read more

If you're taking the time to look through these reviews, I'm guessing you value your health and likely complete your due-diligence before choosing someone to work on your body. With all the negative press on root canals lately, I was a bit nervous when my Dentist referred me to Dr Riahi for a root canal. After letting the idea marinate that I may one day need a root canal, I figured it wouldn't hurt to get a consultation with Riyahi and see how it goes. I was immediately comfortable with how personable Dr Riahi and all of his staff were. Dr Riahi took the time to explain to me what he thought about my tooth, why he believed I needed a root canal, his years of experience/training and the education he received at Harvard. All this information put me at ease. Despite all his knowledge, it was like talking to a friend. The man is super humble. I expressed my concerns about root canals, potential chronic health issues and sometimes serious diseases associated with them. Dr Riyahi listened to my concerns and shared with me the current science, studies and known information in the medical community. At no point did I feel Dr Riyahi was dismissive about my concerns. Ultimately, I decided to get a root canal. It was smooth. Dr Riyahi is a master in his art! Here is the crazy thing... After I had the root canal, some of my chronic neck pain improved. Although I still don't know if there are any long-term effects associated with root canals; I feel everyone would agree that an infection shouldn't go unchecked in a tooth. Whether you eventually decide to get the tooth pulled or not, is your decision. I decided to write this review because I can imagine many people in the same position I was in. Do I get a root canal or get the tooth pulled? Are there long lasting negative health impacts associated with root canals? Yeah! It's a hard decision. A complex and complicated topic and I still feel confused about the issue. Here is what this comes down to... If you decide to have a root canal done, hands down, Dr Riyahi is your go to. Reza (Dr Raidi) is superb! Its not cheap, but if you are referred for a root canal I highly recommend this dentist. I actually fell asleep during the treatment (he had to gently wake me). My awesome dentist, Dr. Marisa Walker, recommended me to Dr. Riahi for an emergency visit, because I had excruciating pain all night. The thing that did it for me was he took me in. There were no open appointments but he must have had a lot of empathy for people in pain. Everyone left for the day, it was just me, his excellent assistance, and him. I had severe tooth-pain that was likely due to an infected tooth after a previous crown procedure. My dentist referred me to Dr. Riahi who kindly fitted me into his schedule at very short notice and saw me late Friday evening as the last patient. Let me begin with no one looks forward to going to the dentist. But, at some point everyone has to. This week I knew a tooth was going bad. I had been to Dr. Riahi one time before. I was referred to him my my regular dentist. It turned out that I did need a root canal. I was very lucky that he could see me on such short notice. I thought that the appointment was for a diagnosis only. I was surprised to fine out that he was prepared to do the procedure on the spot. I am an old man. I have had many dental experiences. This guy is highly skilled. He is technically brilliant, and has a wonderful touch. If any of you who read this live in fear of any dental procedure, forget it. He makes the process pleasant. During the whole thing, the only thing I felt was a tiny prick as he administered local anesthetic. Never again be afraid of going to an endodontist. I wanted a second opinion about what was seen on some xrays that were taken by my dentist and another endodontist and I wanted to be sure that the recommended procedure was necessary. A neighbor recommended Dr. Riahi and I made an appointment. So happy. The experience with Dr. Riahi and his office staff was top-notch! From being welcomed, getting comfortable, and then getting Dr. Riahi's feedback was all excellent. He asked more questions and did a more thorough exam then the first endodontist. He explained how he reached his verdict on my situation. I learned more about what was happening with my teeth so now I am more knowledgeable of the situation and can move forward. Over the years, I have had a few teeth that have caused me discomfort. Each time, Dr. Riahi did not automatically give me a root canal. Only after he was sure I truly needed a root canal, would he actually do it. He made sure I was totally numb throughout the whole procedure. Since this was my molar that already had a crown, Dr. Riahi simply drilled through the crown, performed the root canal, then closed it with a permanent filling, so the crown did not need to be replaced. After the root canal, the tooth healed, and I could enjoy hot and cold foods and drinks again, without pain! His office staff is great and his office is very attractive and contemporary. Dr Riahi's staff, 0 Dr Riahi himself, 3 I was referred to him from another dentist for a root canal. I specifically asked on the if my insurance worked and if everything was okay. His assistant told me I was covered and to come in. So based on my conversation with her, I in good faith went to them for a Root Canal. Little did I know, my insurance did not cover the procedure and I was royally screwed. This became an on going drama for months afterwards when it never needed to be. I am thankful Riahi was pretty reasonable when talking to him later about the issue. But I would never recommend a place that has practices like this. They're definitely 5 stars and someone I would highly recommend. Last week was my consultation, which was great. Yesterday was my actual appointment. I was even more nervous before the appointment as I've heard painful stories about root canals and I'm in generally not a fan of going to the dentist - is anyone? :) The moment I arrived and sat in the chair - Dr. Riahi made me feel more calm, at ease and assured me it will be painless. He worked slow, checking to make sure I was ok... It's the small things like care and attention to the patient is what makes the experience that much better. After an unsuccessful root canal re-treatment (not doctor's fault, he gave me options, it was my choice to go for it), I had an apicoectomy done, which is removal of the portion of bad root through the gum. Minimum to zero pain after having 8 stitches in my gum. Dr. Riahi called me the evening of the surgery to check on me. I had only one doctor doing that in the past. Sooki (don't know how to spell her name correctly) at the front desk is super helpful as well. I was very late one time for a good reason and she was very nice about it. She also does billing, which is on time and transparent. Overall, very positive experience, will come back (unfortunately my teeth are such). read more

I'm a big fan of Dr Riahi and his staff. I am the worst dental patient in the world and have been known to walk out of appointments if I do not feel like the dentist is listening or responding to my concerns. (As a kid I had my teeth routinely drilled without anesthesia so there's a reason I get twitchy.) So I guess I would rate myself as a "difficult" patient. My tooth started bothering me ( I knew from a past dental visit i would have to get a root canal done on that tooth) life happens and i never got around to it. Don't understand the bad reviews. Reza Riahi was recommended by my dentist and I was impressed, having had many root canals by different Doc's, as well as one implant, by his care and thoroughness. He had me come back after 6 months (no extra charge) for an X-ray to compare to the one taken immediately after the work was completed. The improvements were obvious. He asked me to come back in another 6 months as he likes to have a 12 month follow up. This is a far cry from a root canal i got from a dentist who taught endodontics. This guy neglected to have me back for the last appointment when the absorbant sticks would have been removed from the canal and replaced with the final material and the opening sealed with permanent material. Some years later the tooth broke off at the gum line, having rotted from the inside, and it was then that I was told the root canal had never been finished. I KNOW what bad dentistry is, and Dr. Riahi is one of the good ones. read more

When my regular dentist informed me that I needed a root canal, I called Dr. Riahi's office, as I had 2 root canals performed by him in 2009 & 2010. I remembered my experience as being very positive as I had actually dosed off during the procedure. Amy was very helpful getting me in as quickly as possible, confirming insurance & requesting x-rays from my general dentist. Once I arrived in the office & completed the required paperwork, there was no waiting. Dr. Riahi was very thorough with his questioning & tests to see if in fact a root canal was necessary. During the root canal procedure, he was very patient & explained what was happening along the way. His assistant was very attentive, as obviously one cannot speak while undergoing a root canal, but she could see there was some paper that was tickling my nose & made an adjustment. After the procedure, Dr. Riahi explained what I could expect & provided pain medication in the office as I was headed back to work. I had quite a bit of post procedure discomfort after this root canal, but after 2 days of following doctor's orders, I seem to be back to my normal self. While we can all think of a better way to spend an hour, having a root canal by Dr. Riahi is oddly enough quite a pleasant experience. I would highly recommend him & his staff if you find yourself in need! read more

I was confronted with my worst (dental) nightmare: I needed an emergency root canal. My fear of this procedure was more uncomfortable for me than the searing pain in my tooth that it was meant to relieve. That fear was grounded in a traumatic root canal I had to undergo as a teenager, which was easily one of the most physically painful experiences I have ever endured. And so you can imagine the anxiety I felt knowing I had to relive this procedure. To make matters worse, the procedure needed to be performed through a newly-placed crown. My dentist informed me that he doesn't perform such procedures, and instead referred me to Dr. Riahi. I was literally shaking in the chair when I arrived at Dr. Riahi's office, but Dr. Riahi, Amir and team calmed me down, walked me through what was going to happen and reassured me that if I was in pain, that he would pause the procedure. The team took their time with me before the procedure to make sure that I was comfortable before starting. I really appreciated Dr. Riahi's good chair-side manner, his listening ear, and his concern for my well-being. He constantly checked on me throughout the procedure to make sure I was doing ok. He truly listened and the procedure was completely painless and quick! I am three days out from my procedure and have experienced zero post-appointment pain. In addition to the awesome care that I received from Dr. Riahi, he and his office also called me twice to check in and see how I was doing. Finally, even though I was not a past patient of theirs, they squeezed me in within 24 hours of my request because of the urgency. I wish I could give Dr. Riahi, Amir and staff 10 stars! I just finished a 2 year treatment that included redoing two root canals on my front teeth. It was very scary, but now I have an amazing new smile! My teeth look and feel so much better than they did 2 years ago. Dr. Riahi was gentle and made the process much less scary for me. My treatment team included a dentist (Dr. Marisa Walker), oral surgeon (Dr. Alexander Hoghooghi), and orthodontist (Dr. Jenny Yoo); Dr. Riahi communicated directly with other team members to address all my needs for a coordinated, complicated and very successful treatment. read more

This is a short summary followed by a detailed report of my awful experience with this endodontist. He performed unnecessary exams that had already been done, charged me for them, sent me out to a lab for imaging (more out of pocket costs), and then falsely reported the results from my 3D imaging in order to coerce me into an unnecessary root canal. Continue reading for details. My dentist gave me a recommendation to Dr. Riahi after an in office xray rendered a dark halo around my canine. My dentist tested for the tooth's vitality prior to my appointment with Dr. Riahi (fully vital). Once in his office, Dr. Riahi tested the vitality once again, which seemed to be overkill, but I complied as I was hoping he would be able to give me more information. He proceeded to take focused xrays around the tooth, which showed the same dark halo around the tooth as expected. Without giving me any information, he sent me to a 3D cbct scan (insurance does not cover these specialty images) and ordered a report by a DDS (an extra fee on my part). Why he was unable to interpret the images on his own was a complete mystery to me. Wouldn't that be a critical part of his training? The report, which I retrieved from the lab, wrote in conclusion "Periapical mixed density associated with tooth #6 shows radiographic features consistent with cemento-osseous dysplasia, which does not require treatment." - Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) I waited ten days for a follow-up from the results of the 3D images but received no response from Dr. Riahi. I contacted the office to remind him to follow up. He called me at an obscure hour the next day to tell me that my tooth required a root canal immediately. When I asked him for more information and whether the treatment was absolutely necessary, he became evasive opting for esoteric answers and ultimately told me that my tooth would eventually erode if I didn't get the treatment. When I asked to see the report he made me order, he was obstinate and told me I'd have to retrieve it from the source. Still I questioned why on earth would someone with a fully vital tooth undergo a procedure that would completely kill it? I requested a copy of the report from the lab which concluded what I was suspecting (above). In summary, the tooth was fully vital with some thinning of the cortical plate "which does not require treatment." I even went to get a second opinion just for a peace of mind who confirmed that a root canal was absolutely out of the question and unnecessary. I am beyond enraged about how overtly dishonest Dr. Riahi was in his follow-up. A root canal is by no means a harmless procedure often leading to chronic infection and has been linked to cancer. I get it that as an endodontist, root canals are his main form of income, but coercing me to undergo a high-risk procedure without providing detailed information and withholding critical details from the report that he ordered is completely unethical. I would strongly advise a second opinion if you've already received an exam or treatment from this office. If you are looking for an endodontist, I would certainly steer clear of this practice. read more

I was referred to Dr. Riahi by my primary care dentist, Dr. Arora. Dr. Riahi's staff, Gizelle, was incredibly accommodating and helpful. She went out of her way to match my schedule at personal inconvenience. I am very grateful for that. I was a little disappointed that my Dentist hadn't sent the x-rays I'd just had (I won't even go through the body scanners at the airport!), but Gizelle explained that their resolution was better and would have likely been necessary any way. Dr. Riahi was very professional. He did chastise me, appropriately, for having taken Advil prior to the exam, but I assured him his evaluation would be certain to cause me pain regardless. (He has to - that's part of the root eval process!) After he isolated the cause of pain, he presented the choices I had to remediate my tooth pain. At this point, I'm lucky to have the potential for full nerve recovery after I fix the crown of the tooth, so I'm taking the conservative approach. A rock star of endodontic procedures, I was in white hot pain, Dr.Riahi made the pain go away

Obviously I was not very thrilled to learn that I needed a root canal, so I was a bit nervous when I came in. Dr. Riahi thoroughly explained what needed to be done and why, and was able to put me at ease. I thought that I was just going in for a consultation, but he said he had time to do it right then, and because I had the day off of work I agreed to do it then. I let him know that it usually takes a lot of the novocaine to numb me up, and he was very liberal with the stuff and even at one point shot it right into the root of my tooth (I think.) Anyway, after all of the novocaine I didn't feel anything as he did the root canal. They put this latex dental dam in your mouth before they do the drilling and it was weird at first, but after I got used to it, it was good to have because I could rest my tongue against the side of it. The only thing that was really difficult about the procedure was that he kept asking me to open my mouth wider and wider. It makes sense because this was my back lower left molar, but I don't think I've ever had my mouth open that wide before. So to wrap up, Dr. Riahi made my first root canal as good of an experience as was possible. I definitely recommend this practice. read more
