If I could leave a NEGATIVE 5 star rating, I would. I wasn't even going to leave a review until I saw the other reviews. Like everyone else, I bought a Groupon in December 2012 for $39. The Groupon stated that it expired in May 2013 and that was fine because I was trying to book a ride for April 2013. Like everyone else stated, I had great communication with the business until 3 days before my scheduled ride and the communication ceased. I couldn't get them to answer the phone or return my calls. I've got the email trail to prove it. Hopefully, this business has either cleaned up their act or cleared out of the business. Just posting to show that theft by conversion is a standard business practice rather than an exception for this company. On 7/13/13 I treated my wife to a romantic couple trail ride, she was really surprise. Once we arrived at the location I ring the bell, shortly after we were greeted by RG. We signed the waiver and walked down to the horse stable where we were given a brief lesson about the horses we were going ride. When that was completed, off we went, we were actually on a real trail ride. I thought the ride was going to be short, but to my surprise it wasn't. RG was very patient with my wife and I during the trail ride. My wife and I are looking forward to coming back to RG. My only issue is that RG needs to get a better line of communication because when customer call during business hours they expect to speak with a live person, not a voicemail. Some customer could be lost or just need better direction. RG needs to improve on calling in advance if the weather does not permit for riding, so that way people can reschedule. Ok, First of all I would like to say I actually just made a yelp account JUST to review this guys business lol.. Ok as the others have said RG does not answer his phone as he should. I think its proper business to do so. Now if his excuse is that he is on a ride then I think the next most logical decision would be to leave his phone in the care of an assistant. When I went there, there was a woman who was tending to the barn...This person may or may not be there at all times I don't know but I mean come on man the least you could do is forward your number to a friend or something. And if the assistant is there, give them the phone. It is completely unacceptable to have people second guessing themselves after they have driven x amount of miles to get to your place. Be more considerate of this and yes sometimes people may arrive late but they still should not be left in the dark. Also guys his place has no significant signs alerting you of where you are at so be prepared to be dumbfounded...(as most are initially) Ok so back to my experience... I arrived about 15mins early and there was another couple there as well. RG arrives and we prepare the horses and then we go on the ride. In my opinion, the ride that you actually go on is NOT worth it. Now I will give him this, his website is beautifully designed. However it IS deceiving. I don't know what you picture in your mind when you think about going horseback riding but it is not what RG delivers. What we did is saddle up the horses take them out of the barn and then proceed to ride them around his property. He takes you on one loop up a hill, he does this twice, then after he figures that you got tired of that lol, he then takes you back in the barn and then on another loop twice lol...its pretty stupid in my opinion but thats up for you to decide. Like i said his website to me, at least, is deceiving but I mean if you ask the man himself he probably will reply with "what do you expect for $50"...me personally RG I expected a hell of a lot more than a tour of your property but thats just me. :\ my suggestion to anybody even remotely considering this is SKIP IT...Unless you have enormous amounts of TIME and MONEY to blow. lol read more

I purchased a voucher for a couple's romantic horseback ride. When I went to redeem the voucher, I was told of a new $50 *non-refundable* reservation fee. How can a new fee be charged when it was not mentioned when I purchased? And a reservation is required since only 1-2 couples can go riding at once. I posed this question on RG's facebook page and the comment was deleted without an answer. I just don't understand why the fee is not refundable. ESPECIALLY if I was not told of this fee upon purchasing the service. I'm still waiting to hear back from Rick at RG. I too purchased a Groupon package for this ranch and it was never honored. When I inquired about my appointment, I was told that the receptionist never wrote it down and had been fired. That would have been okay if they had not also moved ranches and then told me my entire group would not be able to come because there were not enough handlers to accommodate us. I called back several times to ask for a refund, but never received one. This was highly unprofessional and completely unacceptable. I plan to take legal action. read more

I recently purchased a DealChicken certificate valid for a horseback trail ride & wine for 2 at RG Horsemanship. I paid $29.00 for this voucher, and it says it has a value of $199.00. I called the company to make a reservation. There was no answer, so I left a message. Two days later, I received a call back and the man asked me for my credit card number to secure the reservation. He said that in addition to my certificate, I would be charged an additional $75 for the reservation fee and gratuity. I told him that seemed excessive, and that this trail ride is only one hour in length and that I've been on plenty of other trail rides, mainly in Gatlinburg TN, and the fee to ride for approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours is only $25 - $30 a person. He told me that his company, RG Horsemanship, is very exclusive. He said that everyone who calls to make a reservation is happy to give him their credit card number for the additional fees. When I told him I would need some time to think about it, that it seems too expensive for the experience being offered, he very snarkily told me that he's been on the trail rides in Gatlinburg, and that "they suck and have nice day". Then he hung up on me. I feel this company is unprofessional and unreasonably pretentious. While I understand it is customary to present the guide a gratuity for a job well done, I believe a $75 fee BEFORE the ride is beyond reasonable. If this guy were my guide, his brusque manner would NOT motivate me to give a $75 tip. The Deal Chicken certificate merely states, 'Please tip on original value'. If I were to tip on an original value of $199, a solid 20% tip would be approximately $40.00, which I would be happy to give, for a good experience ONCE I've already enjoyed the experience. In referencing the 'reservation fee' the man spoke of (which is NOT mentioned on the certificate), that would be worth $35.00 for the manpower it takes to put the reservation on the appointment calendar, once you subtract a $40 tip from the $75 fee? Really? Ticketmaster doesn't even charge anywhere near that! Unless you enjoy spending a lot of money, only to be insulted and dismissed, I highly recommend you stay far, far away from this company. By the way, I have found another suitable trail ride company, up in Blue Ridge, which my husband and I plan to visit next week. While I won't give their name here, they offer a one-hour guided trail ride in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains, for $27.50 per person. Also, I have used stables in Gatlinburg TN several times, and another one in Virginia, and every single experience has been nothing short of amazing and magical. You do not need to spend $199, plus a $75 reservation fee/tip for an hour's horseback ride to have an amazing time. 'Google' is your friend, as are review sites like Yelp. I have definitely learned my lesson to ALWAYS research a company before I even consider buying another 'deal' like this. Buyer beware! We were given a Half-off Depot coupon for a couples ride as a gift. We thought this sounded absolutely prefect and looked up the place online to make a reservation. We tried calling and e-mailing several times, and finally were able to reserve a date and time. We arrived at the place for the time requested after driving an hour and a half. After waiting 45 minutes (20 minutes past our designated ride time - having already filled out vouchers requested and ringing the bell at the top of the hill) NO ONE showed up and no phone call was received giving an explanation as to why. We tried calling the only number given on the website, but this went straight to voicemail as their "hours" for their office is only Monday-Friday 11-3 (despite our ride being on Saturday). I wish I could give this place zero stars considering that they ruined me and my boyfriend's anniversary that we had been looking forward to for weeks... We had the same experience as the other reviewers did with showing up to find no one there. We had a 1:00 appointment for horseback riding and wine and chocolate tasting, and received a confirmation call at 12:30 so we said we'd be there in 15 minutes. We called back at 12:45 because we were having trouble finding the place, but no one answered all 5 of our phone calls to help us with directions. When we arrived, there was no one to be found and just a bell to ring for service. After waiting for 45 minutes, ringing the bell repeatedly, calling repeatedly with no response, we finally left to drive an hour back home. We still have been unable to contact the owner to get a refund since we prepaid $50 on top of the $50 for the Livingsocial voucher, so it looks like we've been scammed...especially since he called us to confirm 30 minutes in advance and KNEW that we were almost there! Add in the $50 that we spent on a tank of gas to go all of the way there and we could have had an amazing anniversary celebration without all of this aggravation. DO NOT do business with these people unless you want to throw valuable time and money down the drain or have your special events ruined! Update: It has been almost 2 months and after DOZENS of unanswered phone calls AND a complaint to the Better Business Bureau which also reported multiple unanswered messages, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! I showed up ON TIME for my appointment and NO ONE was there when they called to confirm thirty minutes prior! My wife and I really enjoyed our lesson and ride. Having never ridden a horse before, I was a little nervous going in to the ride. Ryan gave a great lesson, and I really appreciated the individual attention to get me comfortable on the horse. The horses were all beautiful and a lot of fun to ride. The views on the ride were beautiful, and Ruby the dog was a great companion as well. Also, the glass of wine at the end of the ride was a pleasant surprise. This was the most amazing ride I have ever done. At first I was a little skeptical because of the extra $50 charge but it was well worth the money. They don't have a lot of people going on the ride with you because RG prefers a more intimate ride for his customers. I really liked that. My wife and I were given good care and the ride was extremely good. RG takes good care of his horses and they were good. He called me personally when I couldn't make the time he wanted me to ride and he made special provision for me and my wife to ride later that afternoon. If you are not looking for a commercial horseback ride with a bunch of people riding with you then this is the place for you. read more

I bought a voucher from HalfOffDepot.com as a Christmas present for my partner. It is something that we had looked forward to all winter and spring. I made reservations with Ryan for 05/25/2013. In the meantime, my partner had ear surgery. We were nervous that this would affect his ability to enjoy the lesson. He was given the go ahead by his doctor, so we headed toward Adairsville. We got turned around once, but a helpful neighbor directed us to the farm. We had the best time. Ryan is so knowledgeable and very respectful of the horses. He teaches you to get to know the spirit and heart of the horse you are paired with. I was matched with Billy Bob, who seemed to be the biggest horse I have ever seen, but he was just as gentle as he was big. We were with another couple there and it couldn\'t have been more fun. Ryan is very mindful of the way you work with the horses and very helpful. We finished the ride with wine and a walk around the barn. It couldn't have been more perfect!! Thanks Ryan! read more

What do you do when your business flops because you are unprofessional and suck? You start over with a new name and location, like Ryan did. Ryan is great with horses; however, NOT at all with people. I will summarize: Good: - Greeted us at gate, but not with smile. - Interesting exercises with horses on ground that build trust and lead up to getting on. - That's about all... Bad: - Put GF on horse without instruction, then while attending another rider, her horse left the barn with her on it. When he realized she was missing, he brought her back in but not with YELLING at her about following directions (of which none were given yet) - While riding, he continued YELLING at her to keep her horse from eating and falling behind, but pulling with all her might was nothing against the strength of the horses neck. So we fell behind and someone else became our guide. - Even with the new nicer guy guiding us, Ryan still kept yelling back at her frustrated that we fell behind. Nobody like getting yelled at or feeling defeated because their horse isnt listening, so she requested to stop and get off for a second and the guy helped her off. - Ryan came riding over yelling that nobody is supposed off the horse and GF got more upset because he was telling more, so he told her she cant ride anymore because he doesnt let scared people on his horses. She was NOT scared, she was upset because YOU kept yelling at her Ryan! IDIOT. - He said she was done and needed to take the horse back to barn, asked her (with attitude I'll add) if she can get back on and ride it back to barn. She said yes and the other guy started to help her up but she is tiny (and even more upset now) and struggled to get back on saddle. With her FOOT IN THE STIRRUP, Ryan exclaimed "this is bullshit" and yanked her horse out from under her to proceed to the barn, with her FOOT IN THE STIRRUP. She stumbled and fortunately didnt hurt her foot too much as it luckily slipped out pretty quickly - besides the point. - He told her to walk back to the barn, about 1/2 to 2/3 mile through a crap laden pasture, leaving her behind him. So I got off my horse to walk with her and he got even more mad, of course. I threw my helmet at his feet and we walked off using a few choice expletives. I have NEVER experiences such unprofessional, rude and demeaning service and it saddens me to my core that we paid the $40 tip in advance as required. This post doesnt not begin to paint a picture of how horrible this experience was. NOT the romantic date with fire and smores that we planned just before my military deployment. STAY AWAY FOLKS, or go and prepare to be disappointed and ready to fight when he isnt as luckly and actually injures your GF or wife or kid. I purchased a Living Social voucher for a "Jingle Bell Ride" for 2. Since I waited so long to use the voucher, we ended up not having a campfire because it was so hot that day. No biggie - they offered us a bottle of wine at the end of the ride which was nice. When we arrived at the location (out in the country in Adairsville), the instructions were very clear & quaint - fill out your hold-harmless & "ring the bell." We waited just a minute for the "cowboy" to come retrieve us, walked up the hill to the barn & then they gave us some instruction on how to ride/steer the horse (I have never ridden). It was very personal service (just the 2 of us with 2 instructors). They were very patient with us. Then we rode around the property - it was very pretty & very RELAXING. They continued to give instruction throughout the ride as was needed. We arrived at 4:40 & the ride was over about 6:00. Then we took our wine & walked down the hill, sat by the entrance in 2 chairs that are always there, drank the wine & talked. Very romantic & enjoyable DATE! My boyfriend and I purchased the couples horseback riding with wine groupon. There is a 50$ reservation fee in the fine print so make sure you always read the fine print. Also it is a little tricky to find GPS takes u down a road littlefield, don't go down it, its on folsom road and there's a little sign that says RG. Overall, we had soo much fun it was such a great experience, it was picturesque. The guide was so nice and friendly and really helped you with the horses. It couldn't of gone better it was a great anniversary day, and we didn't want it to end!!!! This place isn't like a scenic trail it is literally horseback riding, where he teaches you how to lead the horse and then you roam around open fields! read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. This is a shady business! And a good example of how one person can't run an operation. It was hard to schedule. No one answers phone calls. When calls, were finally returned you find out there are all sorts of hidden fees- reservation fees that seem to vary from the reviews I have read. Mine was stated as $75 and a mandatory tip. We arrived at the venue 7 min. late. We called 20 min. earlier to state that. Of course no one answered the phone. There was a sign that said ring bell. No one was around. We saw them in the distance standing by the horses (there was one other couple) as the ride had not begun. He yelled and said we were too late and would have to reschedule. The lady in the house sent her dogs out after us. DON'T BUY THIS DEAL on any site or go on a trail ride with him! He is just trying to make money. No customer service.
