If you have curly or kinky hair, stay far away from this place. They do not know how to do your hair. I got desperate as I was looking for a place that had immediate openings. The wash was good. Gave a decent massage. They don't do rollers. Asked for a haircut with layers. The layers were totally off. And they chopped of 10 more inches than I asked for. They do not know how blow dry hair - worst I've ever seen. Their dryer didn't get hot enough. They pretended like their straightener was broken to avoid straightening it with. Learned my lesson. As promised, the update of my review upon final results...after waiting for my stylist, Bob to retrieve me from the dryer, having to get up and look around as my time was limited to 1 and a half hours to get a wash, cut and blow dry before having to get back to work which is usually more than enough time but with the constant interruptions while working on my hair, Bob was stopping to take on "acting receptionist for all walk ins with questions and answering the phone in the middle of cutting my hair which was concerning considering having an appointment and not being given full attention from my stylist and worrying about being late (I arrived at the salon 15 minutes early for my 11am appointment and didn't leave until almost 12:30. I had purchased a Groupon for the service and was charged the extra $20 fee for long hair-my hair is not considered long, medium length at most and it's very fine and thin so after leaving a $10 tip my total for a wash, trim and blow dry cost more than it would have had I gone directly through the salon providing no discount having purchased the Groupon offer but didn't have time to question the additional fee and then to top it off, they don't provide receipts for cash transactions which are encouraged because they have a $3 charge fee but advised at the time of check out receipts are only available with credit transactions-huh? Unfortunately I'm not very pleased with my cut either; other than my ends being cleaned up, the cut was blunt rather than choppy with long layers throughout for volume and style and not worth $65. I can say the limited staff, one woman in particular, was extremely helpful with checking me in and offering beverages and retrieving my stylist from the break room after sitting under the dryer that had stopped 10 minutes before looking around because I was working within a reasonable hour and a half timeframe and it was 11:50 before my hair cut was even started for an 11am appointment. Photo comments: no definition in the layers and flat straight cut instead of choppy as requested. and shown in pic examples including a pic of the first cut he had done that I was very happy with-this looks nothing like it. I hope I can get in for a touch up adding choppy style and defined long face framing bangs/layers so I can be satisfied with paying $65 for a less than enjoyable haircut experience especially with the erroneous up charge for cutting less than an inch of hair spending less than 10 minutes actually cutting hair. The jewelry I purchased from a previous visit wasn't inexpensive but certainly cheap in quality; it became discolored after the first time I wore it and doesn't stay in place before the double strand design wraps up together losing the entire styled look I was excited to find. Perhaps why they didn't have a good selection this time around but prices are still outrageous for costume jewelry I've paid less for at kohl's with better quality, lasting over 15 years. read more

This was my first visit to Rg's Hair Design and it was wonderful. The woman at the counter was very friendly. Not only did she make me feel welcome but asked if the open window behind my head needed to be shut for fear that it was to cold on my back. She also asked if I wanted water, Tea or Coffee while I waited. Very sweet women. In January of 2022 I went to Fringe Hair Salon in Scituate and they charged me $110.00, I had not colored my roots in over a year. I went for the same service again in November of 2022 and they charged me $160.00. Both times I had the same exact service, coloring my grey roots. When I asked why it was so much more expensive for the same service, the lady at the front said it was because your hair was longer. My hair is shoulder length and I had it cut in between the two visits. It wasn't longer so needless to say I wasn't going back there again. After searching for a new hair dresser that would take on a new color client, (not many were) I found Rg's Hair design. Maxine the owner, not only took a new client but also did a much better job and for a lot less money. I got a lot of compliments on my hair after leaving her shop. I bought a groupon online that had an issue with it, and I didn't realize it was only valid on certain days until I opened it to show it to my hairdresser, and I was there on the wrong day. Long story short, for my troubles and having to pay more for a different stylist, the business owner, Maxine, provided me with a card to come back for a haircut package on them. This really shows the character of a business. Even though the problem wasn't their fault, they still took it upon themselves to make up for some inconvenience. Bob, my stylist, was phenomenal. He truly took his time while washing my hair and performing the deep conditioning treatment, and then cut my hair just to the length I wanted, while giving me his opinion on what would look best. The atmosphere in the salon is also very charming and relaxed. Can't wait to come back!! read more

I had a terrible experience with Sunny. She sure did mess up my hair. At first glance the salon is nice but that is all positives I can say. To begin I wasn't scheduled for the 10am appointment which she had confirmed for me via text the night before. She said she could fit me in, anyways. This should have been a red flag but I was just going with the flow. She talked to me about what I wanted from the balayage and she started to put the foils in my hair. I waited with them in for 45mins before she rinsed my hair. After she had washed the bleach out I was left with my head in the sink for another 30mins while she serviced other clients leaving me with my head in the sink again. A true pain in my neck. She then put the color on and I waited again while she finished hair cuts. Even the other stylists were looking at me with pity as I sat once again with a soaked head in the sink, finally at 1pm I had to leave to pick up my kids. My hair was still wet when I got up to leave she didn't even offer me a towel and to add Insult to injury there was still some bleach in my hair that was never rinsed off and it ruined my shirt. Sunny was willing to try and fix the mistakes and I had no choice but to return to have her fix the bright orange disaster that was my hair. When I arrived back at the salon she did take me right away only she was very aggressive in her manner saying things like "oh, call me in a week to fix it but I'm sure you'll never let me touch your hair again" She told me I had offended her when I asked about her technique for a balayage because she was using bleach and foils. She told its just how she does it and calls it a "foilayage". The whole reason I wanted a balayage to begin with was because it doesn't use foils and is less damaging to the hair. I was still charged full price, she said I didn't have to leave her a tip and she warned me about leaving a bad review. I was shocked. Between the false advertising for a balayage and lack of professionalism I won't be back. read more

Unbelievably unprofessional and bad. Stopped in for a quick wash and blow dry. First of all I have not seen my hair look this bad after blow drying ever. Erin clearly has no idea what a professional blow dry entails (see picture for her lovely handiwork). Here's a hint: it's more than pointing the dryer on the hair for a while and running the straightener over it for five minutes. Even worse she pulled my hair and burnt my head several times. Then I go to pay and the girl tries to charge me $15 more than the price she herself had quoted me just four hours earlier. She even admitted that she had quoted me a different price but could not seem to reconcile that with the fact that the price was in fact listed as more. I will give Erin the credit for letting the girl know that I should be charged the price I was originally quoted. To say the least we all mutually agreed that I would not be returning to this pathetic excuse for a salon. They felt that I wouldn't be happy anywhere as I had gone there telling them that I was not happy with my current salon. And yes, when you act like complete jerks, please do expect some rudeness in return. Well, i've been happy many places but never have I been treated so poorly or receive such a bad result as I did here. I actually now have a new appreciation for my current salon, which isn't perfect but at least they attempted to fix things that went wrong. This place is absolutely does not deserve to be in business. I'm sure they won't be for long with employees like that. I should add that I would not have even bothered to write a negative review had they not aggressively made it clear to me they did not hear what I thought. After all, not everybody is good at their job, even if they have been doing it for 12 years, but they still have to make a living. I would have happily paid the price I was quoted and never gone there again. Instead, they chose to go out of their way to let me know that they do not care about what the customer thinks about her own hair. These people are the absolute worst I have ever encountered in any business ever in my life. Do not go here. In fact they have some very nice jewelry for sale which I wanted to buy a lot of for myself and for gifts, but I simply could not stand to put any money in that irresponsible owner's pocket. I've went to RG's for the first time earlier this year of maybe last winter. Maxine did a phenomenal job layering my hair and waxing my eyebrows. I decided to go back there yesterday. I was setup with Allison. Allison trimmed my hair and fixed up my layers very well. I was definitely happy with my hair, but I was not happy with what she did to my eyebrows. We were talking about eyebrow shapes and different techniques and whatever and I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that maybe the conversation distracted her. I'm not sure if she left the wax on my eyebrows for too long or what, but holy smokes did she rip off my skin. The last time that happened to me was when I was 16 or 17 and let some girl in the cosmetology program at Southeastern practice on me. Allison told me to put sunscreen on my eyebrows if I planned to be outside or else it would scar. In the moment I was in pain and surprised by what she had said because I didn't actually see how much skin she had pulled off until I got to my car. I can't believe she charged me for the waxing/unwanted skin peel. It looks awful and is pretty painful. Like I can't let water from the shower touch my skin without being inflicted with pain. I'm flying out of the country next week for a wedding and I can only be so thankful that I found a cover up to hide these ugly soon to be scabs. read more

First when I came in; the assistant offered me some coffee or tea. This was really cool because it's so rare for a business to offer that anymore. And they were able to take me on X-mas eve. I always wait till the last minute for these kinds of things. So from the start - I was impressed. My head is little uneven. It always take a stylist a little longer to do my fade because of that and normally I find myself trimming my hair once I get home because it's always a little off. Dean did a wonderful job on my hair. First he took the time to really ask what I was looking for and I could tell that he really cared that I communicate exactly what I wanted. While washing my hair he succeeded in not getting water in my ears (something annoying that happens everytime I get my haircut). I almost fell asleep during the wash because of the awesome scalp massage. During the cut, he then took the extra time to make sure it was perfect and before I left made sure my face and shirt wasn't covered in little rogue clipping hairs. I am home now - realizing that I don't have to do anything because it's already perfect! My only beef is that I couldn't tip him. The credit card machine doesn't have a tip line on the receipt and I only had $2 in my wallet. Luckily I only live down the road so when I go out later for errands I will stop by again. I bought a partial foil beauty package on Groupon and saw Allison today. I have tried many wonderful salons on the South Shore, but always have a hard time finding a stylist to fit my hectic work/family schedule. Allison did a fantastic job highlighting, deep conditioning and cutting my hair. She also gave me some great hair drying tips. I will definitely be going back! My only suggestion to the owner is to update your website. It does not really reflect how beautiful and updated the salon is in person. Online booking would also be a big bonus too! read more

I had a terrible experience with Sunny who is a stylist at this place. I got a Groupon and contacted her to make an appointment. She didn't have any dates available until after the holidays, which I understand, but she was extremely rude in her communication. On top of that, after I posted a negative review about my experience on their FB page, her manager asked me to remove my review. Obviously neither Sunny nor her manager care about customers. They also have a hard time accepting negative feeback. Message to the manager: instead of asking people to remove their feedback, you should take it to heart and try to improve customer experience. Putting blame on customers will not help your business. I would not recommend this place. read more

Went for a balayage, had take an appointment 5 days back, but they seemed pretty confused as to if there was any appoinment. Once I got assigned to a stylist, I showed a reference picture of the burgundy color I wanted, Sunny mixed something and applied it straight to my natural dark brown hair (unprocessed and virgin). After about 20 minutes of leaving in the color followed by washing it off, there was no color on my hair, only for her to realize she should have bleached my hair first. After bleaching, the color applied to my hair was purple, which I luckily noticed and questioned. The reply I got was, "what seems burgundy to you looks like purple to me!" She was polite though, but ignorant of the fact she might have a difference view of colors (even after showing the picture) and may be a bad listener. After 4-5 attempts she finally managed to fix my hair, which was not even close to what I had requested, but atleast saved me from looking like a cotton candy (no offense to anybody who likes their hair that way, just not me.) She apologised for the inconvenience, well yes it was inconvenient to sit there for 4 hours to get something done that takes maximum 1 hour. The other guy (another hairstylist) next to us, just kept passing wierd stares, which felt very rude. Also some comments/ views seemed wierd, as another woman which a dusky complexion asked for a particular blonde shade of streaks, which after getting done were not to her satisfaction, to which the hairdresser commented, "You guys have a wierd kind of skin color!" (BTW, I am an Indian), which did not seem the solution to the problem at all! Overall, though Sunny was very patient and apologetic for all the "inconvenience", it was my worst experience at any salon in US so far. May be it was a bad day, may be my bad luck, I am so not satisfied, my hair seems all dried up and dull! Since it was raining cats and dogs, I did not want anymore water in my hair, I asked them to give a plastic cap to cover my hair, they did not seem very happy to give that. Needless to say, I am never going back there, nor am I going to recommend my friends or family to go there. read more

Went in for a deep conditioning treatment and cut after purchasing a Groupon. I was doing a pretty drastic cut (think 10+ inches). I think my stylist's name was Allison. She was very nice and helpful, giving me tips on how to style my now much shorter hair. The cut was timely, yet very professional and looked great. Literally the worst hair experience I have ever had . I came in looking to be blonde and I left red. The other hair dressers kept trying to say it looked great, but it's the opposite of what I wanted!!!! Now I'm going across the street with hopes someone can fix this mess. I got my hair done by Dean yesterday! I went in with dirty blonde hair and was excited/nervous about dying my hair pink! (it was time for a drastic change) Dean was SO professional he tried out a bunch of different mixes until he got the one that both he and I were happy with. i am SO SO SO SO happy with how it turned out i have been getting TONS of compliments. OMG, If you were thinking of buy a Groupon for Hombre with Sunny, I would suggest not. If I could upload pictures to this review I would. I bought my daughter this Groupon, She went to see Sunny this past week, and I can tell you that I have never in my entire life had to write a review this bad, in fact I do reviews few & far between. My daughters Hombre, came out horrible! My daughter showed her pictures of what she wanted too! To make this long story shorter...................My daughters hair is now 95% purple, from her mid back all the way to above her ears! Everyone that I have shown the pictures to gasp when they see if and say OMG, that is terrible. With this, I sent an e-mail to Sunny letting her know my disappointment, I couldn't even call her for that is how upset I was (and still am)! She had the nerve to except a tip of $50 for it! Really!? She then replied back to me that she didn't like it either and was very sorry for how it came out, and admitted that she miss judged and didn't have enough product to do. NOW, I ask you..........why would you proceed and not reschedule? Anyway, she did offer to fix her mistake, but after this mess I told her NO THANKS, and requested a refund and to pay for it to be fixed which now will cost me even more to fix, which I will do since I feel so bad for giving my daughter the gift. She replied that she would not pay for someone else to fix but would give her a refund. Ok, if this is the only thing she feels she should do, well then I guess it another loss for my daughter. On top of this, she only refunded her the $50 tip she was given and not the $$$ which was paid for the Groupon? I don't believe that I will ever even go into RG's Salon again, To me this is a very UNPROFESSIONAL! I won't even go into the unprofessional e-mail responses that she sent back to me! After a color consultation with an experienced stylist, I booked an appointment. I was very disappointed with the hair color I received. I had clearly asked for blond ash highlights on my naturally ash brown hair, but ended up with strands of copper and strawberry blond. I returned for a correction, but the stylist seemed to be in a rush and the color wasn't much different. I stopped in last minute to see if I could get a cut and color with Chrissie but she was booked (because she is so good). When she saw me at the reception desk, she came over to say hello. When she heard that I needed an appointment ASAP because of a family party (the next afternoon) she quickly recommended her colleague, Dean. I was apprehensive because I am VERY picky and need to "trust" my stylist because of past experiences elsewhere. Chrissy immediately acknowledged my apprehension and assured me "he would be GREAT!" AND HE WAS!!!!! Dean took the time to consult with me, prior to even placing the cape on me. He was VERY professional but also personable. He was meticulous with placing my colour and had the gentlest touch. Not to mention the amazing scalp massage he gave while shampooing my hair. He listened to every detail of what I wanted. Did NOT cut too much, while still giving me a great, managable, versatile style. And my colour and coverage is fabulous!! Love the fact that a stylist is willing to accomodate her client AND refer her to another fabulous stylist, in a profession that can be cut throat. I went to RG's for the first time for a gloss treatment. I was immediately greeted like an old friend and made to feel right at home. I didn't have to wait for Chrissy, the stylist, and yet she spent so much time on my service. She gave me a scalp massage while she carefully shampooed out any residue that may have interfered with my treatment. It was heavenly. Then, she styled my hair perfectly. I have been going to RG's for 3 years now and I couldn't be happier. Erin is incredible. I have a whole lot of very fine hair, I refuse to use a blow dryer and I'm in professional settings often where I need to look polished. Erin has had a big project on her hands to do cut and color for me that I can manage with limited effort and still look great! She's done it with flying colors. Erin did a cut on me that I never would have thought of, but now that I've had it for a year, I'm not sure I'll ever want anything else. I love it! So easy, yet polished and feminine! Erin is also a whiz with color. I like blond, but I don't want to be getting a touch up once a month. Erin has figured out how to give me the natural looking blond I crave and I only come in about every 10 weeks. RG's and Erin are the greatest. read more
