Specialties

We specialize in classical pilates, which is pilates exercises, order, and execution as close as possible to the original ways intended by Joseph Pilates. Part of that is the use of Gratz equipment, which is widely known as the most authentic pilates equipment on the market. Through classical Pilates, our students have grown taller and gotten stronger- while having fun during a whole-body workout! It truly is an amazing method. Our other speciality is our relationships with our pilates students. We cultivate long term, friendly, inspiring relationships with everyone who comes to do pilates in our studio. Many people have been coming since we opened our doors and continue to spread the word to their friends!

History

Established in 2003.

Rhinebeck Pilates was originally opened in a small studio space above the Rhinebeck Smoke Shoppe on the corner in Rhinebeck Village. We started with three Reformers. two Barrels and two Wunda Chairs. In a couple years, we outgrew the space and moved across the street into a space that was double the size! We were able to add an additional reformer, reformer/tower combination unit, an additional Wunda Chair, an Arm Chair, and TRX classes! In 2014, we outgrew that space as well and are now currently located at 6400 Montgomery Street, downstairs from Satya Yoga, still right in the village of Rhinebeck. This current space is double the size again and we've now been able to add a Gyrotonic(R) Tower and Leg Extender in addition to our Cadillac, 5 reformers, 6 towers, 4 Wunda Chairs, Electric Chair, Arm Chair, Ped-o-pul, 2 Ladder Barrels, Spine Corrector, 5 small barrels, and four TRX! WOW! We continue to grow- thanks to our fantastic team of teachers and our loyal students! Thank you!

Meet the Business Owner: Elaine E.

Elaine is a third generation, certified Authentic Pilates teacher through the New York Pilates Studio. She has studied and practiced pilates extensively through workshops and classes taught by master teachers of the Classical Pilates Method such as Sean Gallagher, Pam Pardi, Steve Giordano, Bob Liekens, Leah Chaback Katz, and Simona Cipriani, to name a few. Elaine has also completed The Classical Syllabus with MeJo Wiggin. Elaine can be found on Pilatesology teaching the Archival Ped-o-Pul as well as a model for Sean Gallagher's instructional videos. In 2019, Elaine became the owner of many original pieces of archival, original Pilates equipment from Joseph Pilates' original 8th Avenue Studio in NYC, which can now be found at Rhinebeck Pilates. In 2018, along with Sean Gallagher, she created Pilates at The Pillow, a 3-day pilates conference based on archival and scientific research at Jacob's Pillow and Joe's original studio in Becket, MA.
