While skiing, my husband and I came and ate here every day! The staff was so incredibly nice. There was even one day where I was sitting outside by myself to get a hot drink and the hostess kept coming over to keep me company. The queso was really good. We were absolutely blown away by the green chili burger that we came back the second day just for the barbecue burger to compare and they were both great. We also had the nachos which were loaded and so good. Since it's very cold on the slopes, I highly recommend getting the apple cider! Would definitely eat there again the next time we're on the slopes, perfect for a ski day lunch. read more

For one of the best margarita in Taos Ski Valley, go to Rhoda's. Their bar is stocked with top shelf tequilas and mezcals, as well as beer on tap, wine, and other spirits. I ordered a skinny marg on my first day there, and it hit the spot. My girlfriend ordered a hot Irish coffee, which seems to be another popular drink amongst the patrons at Rhoda's. The food menu. offers small bites to entrees; I did have a two-bite-sized chicken tinga taco ($5) made with a legit corn tortilla; we also ordered the chips with a trio of salsa, queso, and guac. (Texans, the queso is more of a cheese dip, so maybe just stick with the guac). There's outside seating that faces the base of the mountain, so it's great for people watching. It's dog-friendly, cashless, and counter-service only. They often have a bar outside too. read more

I ordered nachos, a burger and a corn salad. The nacho is shameful. Chips with shredded (unmelted) cheese. 6 peppers. A tablespoon of cold refried beans on a few chips and added chicken which was dry. The burger was decent but the fries were so over cooked and hard. The salad was decent but some very wilted lettuce. Rhoda's was...OK. It's convenient location right at the base and despite the busy crowds, you can manage to squeeze into a table after ordering at the bar. There are good beers on tap and there's definitely an apres ski energy in the air. Once again, the soup is not hot. Honestly, if the tortilla soup had been the right temperature, it would have been perfect because it was so wonderfully creamy from the coconut milk and was absolutely bursting with flavor. Bummer. The green chile pork stew, on the other hand, was bland and lacking. Our daughter's bacon cheeseburger was pretty good but had way too much of that garlic sauce on it. Fries are fine. We think that our food had been sitting out for a while because there were people who got served before us even though we were way ahead of them. Unprofessional and lazy, but that's what happens when you're prisoner in a ski valley. Three stars but we would be willing to try it again should we ever return to Taos. read more

There was such a small amount of beef it was almost laughable. Normally I might say something but we haven't had a great overall experience at Taos in general and I just didn't have the energy. My daughter said the Cheeseburger was fine. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. Unless you want a martini, Bloody Mary or some other type of cocktail, my advice is just go to the cafeteria place Tenderfoot Katie's next door. read more

If not for the prices, I would give Rhoda's a fourth star. Despite being a Saturday, our party of four was seated promptly for lunch at 12:30. My boyfriend wanted to order a frozen margarita, but they weren't quite ready, which was a little odd. We ordered two of their hot teas. It took a bit for them to arrive, but they came in tea presses and were both great and hit the spot on a cold day. My boyfriend got the green chile stew, which was very flavorful, and I ordered the nachos, which were huge. They bring you a big ol' molcajete bowl of salsa, which was also delicious. Friends ordered a salad and the pork sopapillas, which Rhoda's is known for according to the menu. The sopapillas were just okay according to our buddy, only two small sopapillas and mostly black beans and sauce. They did like the salad. My nachos were pretty tasty and a good bang for your buck. I added shredded beef. Our service was friendly, but seemed slow, so this probably isn't a place you can get in and out quickly. If you are in a hurry to get back on the mountain, I'd go to Tenderfoot Katie's next door. For two of us to eat with a decent tip, it was over $40. The food is locally sourced and the atmosphere is homey" but when I pulled up to the venue last night in my Tesla Model S, I found the place riddled with a vicious biker gang and quickly found myself scrambling for cover as they opened fire on me. Good food but we had to wait a long time for the food to be ready. I liked how they made and delivered everyone's food in order but you think it would be a bit faster considering they had no waiters. The food is expensive and overpriced. We got kids salmon for $14 and it took about 3-4 bites to eat and then it was gone. Rhonda's is located at the base of the chairlift to the Taos mountain ski area. At the base of the hill, a skier has two main choices for lunch. Go to the crowded cafeteria (yuk) or pay a few extra bucks and have a high quality sit down lunch served by an excellent waitstaff. Each day, Rhonda's has a new menu special item - so you can eat here every day during lunch and not get bored of the available options. Try the stew. Yum. This place is not a bad option if you want to avoid the cafeteria style lunch at the base area next door. It's a nice and quiet getaway from the busy slopes. That being said, I felt that most of the food left a bit to be desired. To start, we got the chips, salsa, and green chile queso. It sounded delicious on the menu. I grabbed a chip before the dips went down, and after I tasted it, it was clear that this was just a cheap tortilla chip with no flavor. As for the salsa, I know my salsas pretty well, and I'm fairly certain we just got a pour of pace picante - either that or its generic alternative. The green chile queso? It was essentially velveeta cheese with a few green chiles mixed in. For my main course, the server really recommended the turkey dumpling soup so I had that and a chorizo taco. The turkey dumpling soup was bland and not that interesting, but my taco was pretty freaking good. My wife had the BLAT (bacon lettuce avocado tomato) with sweet potato fries and both were pretty standard. Not great. Not bad. So look - this place isn't a bad spot at all. It's nice to have a reasonably priced meal and a beer while not having to fight for a table in the cafeteria. My advice would be to stick to the staples of this type of place. Get the burger, pulled pork sandwich, etc. Don't try and get cute with something like "green chile queso" or you'll be disappointed! read more

Upgrading to 4 stars - not only do they have the best vegan tortilla soup on the mountain - this year they put on street tacos that can be made vegan!!! Happy to see the continued improvement. Only 3 stars for limited menu - but for TSV a 3 is like a 4.5 relative to what's up here. Vegan tortilla soup is actually really really good! My daughter, 9yo, loves it - it's not too spicy of your kid is from the 50They can also make an ad hoc burrito with beans rice and grilled veggies - smother it with vegetarian red chili and you're in business. 5 buck margaritas are what you would expect so get two or just order a Silver Coin (a real New Mexican's go to margarita). read more

We finally found the right place during spring break here, it was our last night in Taos and I'm happy to say this place gave us a good experience. First night at Stray Dog was ridiculous, second night we ordered pizza (disappointing) but the third night here was NICE. OK, we stopped here for lunch at the base of the slopes expecting your typical tourist-trap crappy food at inflated prices. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised with GREAT service from our server in the outdoor area backed by nice food from the kitchen staff. They have pretty reasonable beer prices and selection. My wife ordered a cucumber margarita which was nicely balanced and not too weak. We ordered the tomato soup for the kids which was really tasty for a cool spring break day. The nachos portion is huge and works great to share among family. It was good that it was tasty because we could eat it fast before it cooled down in the chill mountain air. The chips were fresh, crispy and nice toppings including well melted cheese. The only thing that could have been better is skipping pickled jalapeños and using fresh instead. The 4-star Yelp review is entirely justified and hopefully you get lucky with the server like we did. read more

We enjoyed our lunch sitting outside under the umbrella covered tables. I had a cheeseburger with onion and pickled jalapeños. It was cooked perfectly and very good. I am so impressed with Rhoda's. I had the vegan mole and it was incredible with so many well prepared vegetables. My husband had the Lonestar hamburger with a gluten free bun, it was perfectly cooked and he thought it was delicious. They also have a great, dog friendly patio. read more

Bizarre food choices (for my taste). The absolute only thing I would eat from there would be the ribeye steak and at $32 I better be in the mood for it. But the restaurant seemed very clean and has a bar in it so we were willing to give it a try. My husband asked for a "Red Bull with vodka". Both of the people waiting on us (yes, we had 2 people at our table taking our order)looked confused and the lady kinda did a snort laugh and asked him to repeat that. She then turned to the bar tender and asked her if they had the drink. The bar tender gave this snotty look and replied with a condescending "uh, no". I was on the slopes for two days with my family. We have skied many places. Most of the time when you're at a ski resort, the food is marginal. However this place had great food! Any of the shredded pork items like the tacos and the sandwich etc. is worth ordering. The food is clearly made fresh and is actually quick to arrive. The prices are not that bad either. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because it's a busy place. So you may have to wait a bit before a server Waits on you.The food was so good, we didn't even bother trying other restaurants and there were plenty to choose from. read more

Stopped in for a little lunch so we could rest a little and watch the main lift up the mountain for our daughter to swing over to from the ski school. Waiter was awesome and not only offered a great suggestion, but was attentive yet laid back. The green chile stew was SO good we went back the next day just so we could have more!
