After we had checked out, we were finishing up a few last things by the pool and needed just a few minutes to gather our seven kids' belongings--we were two families traveling together, so it was a bit of a process. Initially, the manager allowed us a few extra minutes, but after about ten minutes she came over and, in a very rude and uncomfortable manner, told us we were trespassing and needed to leave immediately. We understand hotel policies and liability concerns, but the way it was handled felt far from hospitable. We just needed a short grace period to get everyone's things together, and being essentially hovered over and told we were trespassing left a really negative final impression. It's unfortunate because otherwise our experience was nice, but the departure soured the stay for us.

Update: One of their hotel staff replied to my comment but no where in it did they apologized for…read morethe aggressive behavior of their staff that I spoke to. They just address their policy but nothing about how brazen their staff was. So to me it is handled as "you as a customer misunderstood our policy so we can treat you in a brazen, hostile way we want to so long as you get your courtesy refund"

Stayed here with my family from Saturday July 13th-Thursday July 18th 2024…read more Checked in at about 1:06pm. This was Melville Pond RV Park, but then switched hands to Newport RV park. Check in process was easy, However, we did have to move sites from 426 to 431 because we didn't fit. We also couldn't take out any tables or chairs had we stayed in spot 426. We have a long 5th wheel trailer with slides so, we need like lots of room. Luckily called the office and was able to switch spots. That seemed to work, and we had more room to set up our table and chairs. Once we completed set up, we tried to set up the tvs. For some reason, if you have a roku tv, don't expect it to connect to the internet, at least from the site we stayed at. Failed to connect several times, and we had to constantly rescan the tv channels because of all 78 channels only a few were coming in clearly. I found things to watch on my own, with the channels that came in properly like history. Anyways, campground was very quiet, and even with a nearby town dog park, it was pretty good, and quiet. Close to newport and about 30 minutes to Province. Overall enjoyed our stay.

We had a fun time walking around the state park. There were some sailboat races happening on the…read morewater, and it was a breezy, clear day to walk around the outside of the fort. We will have to come back again to see the inside, it was nearing closing time when my friends and I ended up walking over so I'd be interested in seeing inside at some point.

As far as forts go, I've seen more impressive forts but this is a good place for a walk. There is a…read morewalking trail. Plenty of parking. As far as walking trails go, it is not a scenic walk. Some would say boring. I walked the entire big loop in about half hour and I rarely stopped for pictures. There are better spots for sunsets and I don't think it's here. There is a restroom in the area and also opened in December, which is nice.

Most of the store is actually filled with clothes. Again the usual boating shoes and coats but lots of neat t-shirts, sweat shirts and hats. Surprising the prices are actually reasonable. The store also has a nice selection of books about the history of Jamestown and the surrounding area. The people working there were extremely friendly and took the time to answer some dumb questions I had. A nice place for not only boating items but also gifts for anyone interesting in the history of Rhode Island.

From the outdoor space (with grill!) to the big, welcoming kitchen/living area, the bunk beds which our kids love, and a lovely jacuzzi jet bathtub, we just love it. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing visit in a gorgeous corner of Rhode Island.

Lovely B&B on a quiet residential road 2 miles from a great beach. Sheila is a wonderful host and…read moremakes delicious breakfasts delivered right to your room! We had homemade scones, french toast, quiche. It is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore the local wineries and go to the beach. The only drawbacks for us were no wireless internet (and I was working a bit on this trip) and it is off the beaten track and can be hard to find, especially at night. Beware of the local 25mph speed limit!
