After we had checked out, we were finishing up a few last things by the pool and needed just a few minutes to gather our seven kids' belongings--we were two families traveling together, so it was a bit of a process. Initially, the manager allowed us a few extra minutes, but after about ten minutes she came over and, in a very rude and uncomfortable manner, told us we were trespassing and needed to leave immediately. We understand hotel policies and liability concerns, but the way it was handled felt far from hospitable. We just needed a short grace period to get everyone's things together, and being essentially hovered over and told we were trespassing left a really negative final impression. It's unfortunate because otherwise our experience was nice, but the departure soured the stay for us.

I have made and bought many clamboils and every individual serving had several potatoes, onions, chourico, sausage, hot dogs and of course clams. When we open the containers with the boil the bags contained one small potato, one tiny onion and a 1" long piece of sausage. You would think for $70/pp CC would have provided a sterling meal but instead decided to provide far less to maximize profit. To be fair there was a fair amount of clams and the lobster was a cull. We also ordered clam chowder and their version which contains celery was not very popular with most the guests resulting in much of it being thrown away. We also ordered a fruit salad that passed muster. Think twice before you hire this guy unless you wish to be greatly disappointed not to mention degrade your affair. The

We planned for the rehearsal dinner, held the night before our son's wedding, from across the states. This is key because Sara Livingston Oliveira of Compton Clambakes, even though she was dealing with a set of divorced parents from two locations, never let this seem like it created any issues. Throughout planning she was gracious, efficient, and over the top helpful. Even changes made at the last minute were dealt with by her usual aplomb. So that was the planning.... flawless. For the actual event every bit of her professionalism set the stage for a wonderful and flawless celebration. Jason and the rest of their crew were there, invisibly, at every turn. I did not have to do anything that night but enjoy one of the more memorable meals of my lifetime and the great company and family I had found myself in the middle of. Looking for the perfect catering group to handle your clambake in the outer Boston area? You won't find better.

Each bathroom was really nice as well as the bedrooms. Three of us stay in the room with three bunk beds. Super clean, the toiletries, i.e.. the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and hand lotion were phenomenal! They were from a local company that makes their own aromatherapy products. I wanted to buy some, but was unable to get to the store in Newport while it was opened. Probably can look on the internet, but I think it's pretty expensive. This place was really amazing and really you couldn't ask for more. Great kitchen, great dining room, great living room, great middle space, bedrooms and outdoor space. Great space, beautiful wood floors, the heat works, beautiful views, the house is right on the property of the bird sanctuary and right next to the gift shop. Beautiful location and easy walk to the beach and just a beautiful Serene peaceful location! Thank you!

On our first trip to the Sanctuary, we ended up doing the trail to Hanging Rock. Because of my height, there are portions where I had to crouch from one rock surface to get to another stable flat area to get my footing. My husband, who is taller than me by a lot, was more easily able to traverse the various rock heights. So what I'm saying is - Shorties, be careful out here!!

It was a nice weekday, not too cold, a little windy, and sunny. The entrance fee is not too bad for what you get (especially student price) and you can spent all the time you want on the trails. There are binoculars you can use or you can bring your own (not sure if theirs come with a rental fee). They have a lot of trails and a map to help you navigate the space--although I would recommend asking questions at the front desk and paying close attention to when they explain the map since it is not drawn to scale. I do wish they had more color markers along the way to help with knowing what each trail is. We did think we'd get lost at first, but we found our way around quite well and the explanation from the staff starts to all make sense once you're walking. The paths are well maintained and there are slightly elevated wooden bridges for areas that are muddier. I would recommend hiking shoes or boots, mostly for one of the trails with a tougher terrain. There are tons of picture worthy moments, although pictures don't do it justice. Although I did not see too many "unique" birds, we did come across other animals like deer and turkey. We spent a little over 2 hours here and got through about half of the place so if you do want to take it all in, I would recommend a 4-5 hour chunk of time (if you're in no rush).
