Rib City Grant Station opened in 2015 after a three year renovation of the historic Jorgensen's Store by Chris Pozgar, president and owner of Grant Station Inc.. Jorgensen's General Store was built between 1892 and 1894 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was a Seminole Indian trading post, telegraph office, and the first post office in Central Florida. It is also reported to be haunted and has been investigated by the Florida Bureau of Paranormal Investigations. They have posted some videos related to their findings online. Grant Station has Rib City, a 70-seat barbecue restaurant, Old Grant Creamery, an ice cream shop inside of Rib City, Island Paddle, where visitors can buy or rent kayaks and stand-up paddle boards to tour the Indian River Lagoon, and a barn for special events such as weddings. The Rib City franchise started in 1989 in Fort Myers, and has since grown to include 14 barbecue restaurants in Florida and multiple other locations across the country. I had Rib City at Grant Station Bookmarked for a long time for the historic nature of the building but I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful service and delicious food. Menu items include baby-back ribs, pulled pork and barbecue chicken, and side dishes such as onion rings and macaroni and cheese. BBQ is smoked on site daily and sides and dressings are made in house. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and they offer take out and catering. I recommend dining in if you can though. The dining area is filled with carefully curated and quirky antiques Pozgar has collected to replace the ones that were sold off by the previous owner of the building. My server was Kyle who was very welcoming and friendly. He kept the sweet tea flowing for this dehydrated gal. I had the sliced pork lunch special with macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and garlic bread. The serving was ample and the value was good. Most importantly the food was delicious. I was too full for the ice cream dessert. They used to make their own but recently switched to a supplier. Thank you to Christine from the Bensen House for her hearty endorsement of Rib City. With its storied past and tasty food, this restaurant is right up my alley.

Food was awesome. So good. Smokey flavor. Service is friendly and attentive. Ambiance is so old town feeling. I ate it all. Stuffed to the brim. Now I need a nap. Will be back.

We made the trek to Rib City....worth the drive. The food was flavorful but the ribs looked to be a bit small. Cut in half? That is what came to mind since they were so short...maybe it was a baby pig? We did like the fried okra. We asked and even though it was store-bought they knew how to prepare it. Some of the best we have had and elicited a "reminds me of my grandmother's" comment. The interior is airy and filled with interesting items to catch your eye. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We let the manager know who told us she was leaving to pursue other opportunities. Hard to keep the good ones I guess. We will be back to try some of the other items. Check out the photos.

Today was our first time here, and we very much enjoyed it. The owner was lovely, service was fast, and the food, if not unique and out of this world, was great. I loved the green beans and Mac n cheese. Husband said the collards were just fair. Meat was tender and tasty.

We are kind of new to the area, I say kind of because we have been coming around this part of Florida for many, many years. Now we bought a house nearby and have tried many BBQ joints in the area. Rib city was new to us and food definitely did not disappoint. In fact it was so good we plan to return to eat our way through the menu. We had beef and pork and they were delicious. As a master smoker myself, I take my hat off to the master smokers at rib city. Job well done. And we love the historic building as well.

Awful service, and the food is worse. ANYWHERE ON US1 is a better choice than this dive. The place is also unclean.

Living in Melbourne, I do not often drive that far south, but it was such a beautiful day that it felt like the perfect time to go. The waterside setting is wonderful and the outdoor dining creates a relaxing and scenic experience. I ordered the Reuben sandwich from the specials menu and it was excellent. It was very busy during our visit, which shows how popular the place is, but everything still came out tasting great. I was surprised to see the sandwich priced at over twenty four dollars on the final bill, so I would recommend being aware that some items can be on the pricey side. My husband had the hand breaded chicken tenders with french fries. He said both the tenders and the fries were excellent and the tenders were very large. We each ordered a cocktail. He had the Super Margarita - it was strong and very good. I had the Pusser's Painkiller. The flavor was great, but the chunks of coconut made it difficult to drink near the end because the straw kept pulling in the coconut pieces. It was not a complaint, more of a challenge, and I ended up not finishing it. The outdoor seating has plenty of picnic tables and high tops. We were seated at a high top and enjoyed the view, but the flies were overwhelming, which made that part a bit distracting. Even with that, the service was excellent and very friendly. Overall, it was a very good first visit with great food, strong cocktails, and a beautiful waterfront setting. I am glad we finally went and would return again, especially on a nice day.

I'm not an alcoholic and didn't expect 2 loud mouthed intoxicated, heavy set women to invite themselves into my conversation at my table. It's an obnoxious pirate costume event and a poorly managed business. Socializing is not possible in this atmosphere. I watched some elderly band who didn't play well and the singer had no voice. I thought maybe they were donating their time? Every song they played sounded just like the last song. Since everyone was too bombed to aim properly in the bathroom, they certainly didn't notice. The key issue is no one here gets a limit on alcohol consumption. It's a DUI hot spot. The riffraff are obviously regulars here. The food is awfully overpriced for what you get, the water is even worse, and nowhere near a full menu to order from. Waitress looked overworked and do not smile. A horror show on weekends. I know it's not a classy place like you get downtown in Melbourne, but the owner should be responsible when serving alcohol without any limits and asking big mouths to shut up so others can enjoy a conversation at their table. I know for a fact two individuals who left this bar completely intoxicated and one lost a leg, and the other lost a foot riding home drunk on Malabar Rd. Ask any cop about it. My scenic view is the backside of a gas station. so we split and rode south, Rosie's has a a gorgeous view of the river for less money I dumped on this dive. We flipped a coin and it was Sonny's for the win. We entered the establishment, pretty new restaurant. We were quickly seated. The restaurant can sit 40-50 people at a time. We ordered picked 3 meats. Brisket was an extra charge and so were the ribs. The sides we ended up with were green beans and baked beans. The food arrived promptly. All was warm to taste. I took a piece of rib, brisket and chicken tried all the flavors of the barbeque sauces. First impressions are everything. Brisket was tender, chicken was amazingly juicy and not dry. The baked beans and green beans were both cooked correctly. Would I say come again? But of course.

**OVERALL REVIEW**…read more On the Space Coast (Brevad County), there are currently three locations for Sonny's BBQ. Two of them are within central to north-central Brevard. Ergo, anyone living in Melbourne and heading southbound, it is a bit of a drive to get to them. That is why the Sonny's BBQ located in Malabar is technically an "essential" spot for patrons, especially those who are fans. For a Sonny's BBQ (which I will shorthand simply to Sonny's for the rest of this review), this location is mediocre to okay, depending on who is on staff and the time of day. But rest assured, there are many other better BBQ spots to go to especially one exit up heading northbound on I-95 to Palm Bay Rd. But if you have to eat at Sonny's for any reason, you can easily navigate the menu for a decent meal at a decent price. Though an address is provided, Sonny's is located on the southside of Malabar Rd., just west of I-95 They are located just west of the Walmart Supercenter at their traffic light. Starting with their decor and ambiance, they have melded both their traditional western/southern BBQ style with modernization. So imagine barnwood paneling and barn sliding doors, but with a modern layout, color scheme, and art decor. For today's standards, visually okay but the floor is opened to provide more seating. Most of the serving staff have been good, and the latest one is a girl named Ling, who did here best to keep up with all of us given the fact the floor was short-staffed. The menu has been minimized to optioned choices that include chicken, turkey, brisket, ribs, steak, and pork, cooked in many ways for variety. At times, the pulled pork and brisket would be too dry, at other times, just right, but given the amount of sauce per meal, it is manageable. As for stand-alone meals, I had many of their sandwiches and they are good, but the what they call a Cuban sandwich is not traditional in any sense. For hardcore Cuban sandwich connoisiers, they may even go as far to call it an abomination. Thankfully, the price of the food is within the average of most BBQ places these days, ranging from $12 to $20 on average, cheaper for certain meals and more expensive for bigger meal sets such as family feasts. Sidenote: The restfrooms were clean as they can be for a restaurant that is on average busy. No real messes, and TP and hand towels are stocked. I am going to give Sonny's an overall average from all my subsequent visits three-out-of-four stars. They are a-okay, but they don't stand out amongst other Sonny's BBQ locations let along there are other places that do a far better job than they do, but they happen to also be mom n' pop locations, too. Ultimately, this Sonny's BBQ is good in accordance with what you expect with a national chain like them.
