We went here for lunch. Randomly chosen. I have driven by here 100 times over the years. Kaitlyn served us and was attentive to all who were having lunch this afternoon. The decor is awesome. History on the walls in a historical building. Not to mention the post office is still inside. We had the ribs, brisket, smoked turkey, sausage and pulled pork. Accompanied by the baked beans, green beans and the collards. The sides were excellent. Full of flavor. Main dishes were excellent as well. The brisket is some of the best we have had. We went back for dinner the same evening and had a good conversation with the owner Judy. Almost forgot the wings. Nice juicy and crisp. We will be back. The turkey was sliced perfectly IMO. Not to thin that it falls apart and not to thick where you would need a knife to cut it. The baby backs came off the bone with ease as they should when prepared properly. Rib City Grant Station opened in 2015 after a three year renovation of the historic Jorgensen's Store by Chris Pozgar, president and owner of Grant Station Inc.. Jorgensen's General Store was built between 1892 and 1894 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was a Seminole Indian trading post, telegraph office, and the first post office in Central Florida. It is also reported to be haunted and has been investigated by the Florida Bureau of Paranormal Investigations. They have posted some videos related to their findings online. Grant Station has Rib City, a 70-seat barbecue restaurant, Old Grant Creamery, an ice cream shop inside of Rib City, Island Paddle, where visitors can buy or rent kayaks and stand-up paddle boards to tour the Indian River Lagoon, and a barn for special events such as weddings. The Rib City franchise started in 1989 in Fort Myers, and has since grown to include 14 barbecue restaurants in Florida and multiple other locations across the country. I had Rib City at Grant Station Bookmarked for a long time for the historic nature of the building but I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful service and delicious food. Menu items include baby-back ribs, pulled pork and barbecue chicken, and side dishes such as onion rings and macaroni and cheese. BBQ is smoked on site daily and sides and dressings are made in house. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and they offer take out and catering. I recommend dining in if you can though. The dining area is filled with carefully curated and quirky antiques Pozgar has collected to replace the ones that were sold off by the previous owner of the building. My server was Kyle who was very welcoming and friendly. He kept the sweet tea flowing for this dehydrated gal. I had the sliced pork lunch special with macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and garlic bread. The serving was ample and the value was good. Most importantly the food was delicious. I was too full for the ice cream dessert. They used to make their own but recently switched to a supplier. Thank you to Christine from the Bensen House for her hearty endorsement of Rib City. We made the trek to Rib City....worth the drive. The food was flavorful but the ribs looked to be a bit small. Cut in half? That is what came to mind since they were so short...maybe it was a baby pig? We did like the fried okra. We asked and even though it was store-bought they knew how to prepare it. Some of the best we have had and elicited a "reminds me of my grandmother's" comment. The interior is airy and filled with interesting items to catch your eye. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We let the manager know who told us she was leaving to pursue other opportunities. Hard to keep the good ones I guess. We are kind of new to the area, I say kind of because we have been coming around this part of Florida for many,many years. Now we bought a house nearby and have tried many BBQ joints in the area. Rib city was new to us and food definitely did not disappoint. In fact it was so good we plan to return to eat our way through the menu. We had beef and pork and they were delicious. I like Bbq and I like trains. Found this spot while I was in Melbourne for work. It seemed cool from the pictures so my group and I decided to go. The restaurant is right next to the railroad tracks so I'm guessing it was a Florida East Coast Railroad station in the past. They do have a few railroad collectibles on display which is a nice touch. We sat upstairs in a large quiet area which seems to be used only if downstairs is full. I ordered the Pork Ribs and it was better than I was expecting (I had zero confidence that this seafood focused area had any decent bbq). The ribs are not quite fall off the bone but it was still good enough. My favorite thing was probably the little coconut cream pie which I devoured in roughly 3 bites. Not your traditional BBQ If you're in Grant, Florida-stop into Rib City. The baby back ribs are delicious! Front of the house struggled a little-their tablet for taking names was glitching in the middle of a Saturday night dinner service. However! The food was worth the wait. All the BBQ meats were tender-LIGHT smoke, no heavy crust so a different experience from the traditional heavily smoked meats. The okra-perfection. Lightly battered-cooked well-ask for the spicy ranch! Chicken tenders-get the pound! They're worth every penny. I only ordered the half rack of baby back-should have gotten the full order-they were perfect-no sauce required-honestly I only dripped littles bits of sauce on my sliced beef. Disappointments: the skyscraper sandwich-was expecting just a little more heft. And the coconut pie-tried it-not sure of the whipped topping was intentionally smoked or if it was in a fridge with smoked meats. But it tasted and smelled like smoke-also traditionally coconut cream pie has a meringue top not whipped topping. But-I will go back for the ribs and the okra! read more

We were disappointed on our first visit there. Table they gave us was sticky & had to ask for plastic ware. Was told that the sweet tea was not ready. Baby back ribs were tiny. Greens on point...I make my own and prefer more heat and slight vinegar taste but still one of the better Ive had. Both meats were very good as well....if I had the choice I wouldve had the turkey cut thicker (this was a good cut for a sammy) and I wouldve liked the sausage grilled/charred and just a bit hotter.
