Special appetizer salad "nicoise" with seared tuna, potato, green beans, salad greens.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Lovely dinner last evening with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had this pictured salad which was wonderful. Prompt service too.

Our dinner at Ocean 302 was very nice. They had plenty of options on their menu. The service was delightful. All of our food was very good. Calamari was to die for, but very spicy. The fish and chips were good. The dill on the crab cake sandwich was a little dilly for me, but it was still very good. The fries were unique and amazing. And the pasta was very very good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't very busy, and it was a nice place to eat for dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Visiting Melbourne beach, looking in, restaurant seemed like casual beachy bar but once seated, the atmosphere is more nicer dining (like a steak house). Ordered a bunch of different entrees (for 17 of us!) and plates were well executed in presentation and taste. Just the mahi mahi bites bit soggy. Drinks were strong and generous pour. Service bit slow in food but friendly and competent. Place was packed for Tgiving eve - not sure if they take reservations (we were lucky to be seated at high table top right away).

I highly recommend Ocean 302 Bar and Grill. My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night without a reservation and they were very accommodating and we got seated right away without waiting. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was amazing, we had their vegetable shrimp scampi and the their pork chop and they were both exquisite.

One of our mainstays when living here & certainly one of my favorite places. An ever changing specials list of new flavors & items keeps it fresh & new. The main menu is updated each season as well. Excellent chef & kitchen staff ensure consistency of very good prepared, cooked & presented food. There's something for everyone. From going solo to a large family or group, 302 always hits the mark. 7 in our party while back in town for a week long visit. Enjoyed 4 appetizers, unique special entrees & some staples. I had a grilled snapper sandwich as you cannot beat their fresh fish! My son had the Short rib Bolognese pasta. A Goddess Salad with Grilled Salmon was brought to the table & is a house favorite! As was a roasted Rosemary Chicken Breast. A pork chop that was massive & tender. Rack of lamb is a common special here - this night it was Jamaica Jerk spiced which steered me away but one at our table ordered it & said it wasn't an over powered Jerk spiced & the purple potatoes were awesome. We splurged for a sample of some desserts to celebrate an upcoming birthday. Each dessert was exceptionally good! Service is as professional as you'll find with great care at each point of service.

Kelly was our server Tuesday night and provided excellent service. We came in about 8:30pm and they close at 9 but they did not rush us. We ordered two scallops because they were sold out (normally a 4 piece order). She gave us a discounted price. We shared a crab cake which was very tasty and moist. Also shared cauliflower bites. The space is very large and upscale. They have an excellent happy hour 4-6pm with 20% off pizzas and appetizers. We came back last night for HH and I got some tap wine pinio Grigio and husband got tap ale for cheap. We split a truffle pizza which was more than enough food. Such a great location and atmosphere. It says a lot when we come back the next day during our vacation when there are other places to choose.

"5 stars! The fish and chips at Ocean 302 were absolutely classic comfort done right."

"5 stars! The fish and chips at Ocean 302 were absolutely outstanding--perfectly crispy beer-battered haddock that's flaky and fresh inside, paired with those addictive fries and a killer spicy tartar sauce. Generous portion, full of flavor, and just the right amount of crunch. Hands down one of the best versions I've had in Florida. Can't wait to go back for more! Highly recommend if you're craving classic comfort done right."

Tried on a whim and whims hardly ever steer me wrong. We grabbed a high top near the bar and started people watching...lots of locals which is always a good thing and our vantage point allowed us to survey a lot of the entrees as they left the kitchen on the way to the patrons. Our server was very nice and has been there for nine years and seems half her family also worked there....even though she was not the owner. Longevity says something I suppose. We ordered an app and it was very good... spinach artichoke dip. Check out the picture. I had Charlie's burger, lamb.... and DAMN it was good. The mahi mahi sandwich was also a large flavorful portion. Pro tip: The price of a sweet iced tea was 5 bucks.....For that price might as well have a beer :) We will be back to try some other items...we saw the pizza's were huge and they have HH specials on the board by the bar......

This one is difficult. If we rate just the food, which we generally do, it is 5-stars. Fantastic…read morefood. Everything else was certainly noteworthy. Here is how it went down. We arrive on time for our reservation. We are greeted, if that's what you want to call it, by a tall older man. I swear he looked at us like, can you really afford to eat here? So the initial interaction was rather poor. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so maybe he just had a bad day. Yeah, apparently not. The place is very pretty and certainly airs of a higher end establishment. After Mr. Snooty took us to our table, we were greeted by, ready for this, and even more snooty lady. Think Mrs. Howell. It's kind of like going on a date with a psychiatrist, knowing that they are judging every word that's coming out of your mouth. Lol. So after getting a lay of the land from her, we ordered some drinks, which were fantastic. Then the first course came and it was fabulous. We had the escargot and the oysters Rockefeller. Yum. The Escargot was buttery and soft. The oysters were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. We tried a lobster bisque and it was so so good. The touch of sherry was perfect. As for the Caesar's salad, this was the star of the evening. It was one of the best I've had and is what a Caesar salad should taste like. I am seriously considering going back there just for that salad. For dinner my wife had a lobster tail. She reports it was excellent. The snooty lady wanted me to try some special they had, but I went for the lamb chops. Again, perfect, medium rare. Winner. Snooty lady went uber obnoxious snooty after I didn't pick her choice. I was scared for the rest of the night. Overall price to food value, negative 100 billion. Food was fantastic. $250 for the portion sizes not worth it. Then again, even if they were bigger, not worth the price. Like I said, go for the salad and pass on the rest. Make you car payment and go to a more reasonably priced place that won't treat you like you need to have a credit report or occupation that they might approve of. Oh and they had some nice live music. That was good. Too bad, the staff put a damper on the birthday dinner.

First, our server Michael was the least skilled of any I have been in contact with over my 69 years. He showed no interest in us, had no personality, acted indifferent, and was borderline rude. He constantly reached in front of me without the courtesy of "excuse me". He didn't bother to come back to the table after serving our entree and inquire how the food was. For that matter, we never saw a manager the 2.5 hours we were there. Second, while the appetizers came in a reasonable time, the entrees took over 45 minutes to arrive. Michael apologized once and said they were plating our dishes only to return 15 minutes later. This was likely not his fault but D'Jon's had an opportunity to make it right with us but did nothing. I had had to tell Michael a second time that "this wait wasn't working for me". Third, I don't mind paying a premium price when receiving value. That is not available at this establishment. The portion size of the Tomato Salad was laughable. As was our search to find the Salmon in the seafood pasta evening special. Typically we give a business a second chance knowing that everyone has a bad day. With everything that went wrong, we will not return. The service, the food, and the wait were a complete let-down.

My wife had the pulled pork Bennie. I am not a fan of pulled pork, but I must admit my fork wandered over to the plate a few times. She loved the dish as well. It was so big, we took half home. Decent beach bar, but a little too kid-friendly for my taste…read more I came here hoping for dinner on the water, good music, the sound of the ocean, and maybe some friendly conversation with the locals. Instead, one of the main seating areas was partially taken over by strollers, toys, and other kid gear. I understand that restaurants can't control every family that visits, but the overall atmosphere felt more like a playground than a relaxing waterfront dining spot. To the staff's credit, my server was kind enough to move some of the strollers and toys so I could get a seat. Unfortunately, it had just rained and the chairs were still soaked. While I appreciated her making room for me, it would have been nice if someone had also taken a moment to wipe down the seat before it was offered to me. Instead, I had the unpleasant experience of sitting in a sopping wet chair and spent my evening here with a soggy backside, which definitely put a damper on the experience... Pun intended. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, which was good, although I was a little surprised to receive it in a plastic cup. Maybe that's standard here, but it wasn't what I expected. For dinner, I tried the mahi tacos after seeing them mentioned in several reviews. The fish itself was good, but the tacos were absolutely covered in sauce, to the point that it drowned out the taste of everything else. Also, thatsynot what they looked like on the reviews I saw. If I knew they would have so much sauce (or any sauce actually) I would ordered it on the side. I ended up removing most of the sauce-drenched toppings just to taste the fish. I also requested a side salad and was told the only option available for a side salad was a Caesar... despite several salads being listed on the menu. I guess it was too hard to toss some salad greens into a bowl with a side if vinaigrette The parking situation is also very confusing. All the spaces indicate that parking is for guests and there is signage along the fence threatening to tow anyone who parks along the fence. I had to call the restaurant to confirm where guests could park (along the fence, as long as it is not overnight or just to go to the beach) and fortunately my car was still there when I returned from dinner. Overall, the food was decent and the waterfront location is nice. If you're looking for a casual, family-friendly beach bar, this may be a fit. However, if you're hoping for a quieter place to unwind after work or enjoy a peaceful dinner by the water, you definitely want to look elsewhere.
