We're so glad we did! The patio is spacious and comfortable, with several seating areas that give it a relaxed atmosphere. Our server was friendly and attentive, and his recommendation of the Flatlander Chicken Sandwich ($15.99) was spot on. Since my husband and I often split meals, we ordered one sandwich to share. To our surprise, it arrived already divided onto two separate plates--a thoughtful touch that's becoming all too rare. That kind of service definitely earns extra points. The sandwich was delicious, with grilled chicken breast, guacamole, bacon, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle mayo, served with perfectly cooked crispy fries. I ordered an iced tea but couldn't resist trying a sample of their seasonal Peach Ale. It was so good that I ended up ordering a small glass. I'm not usually much of a beer drinker, but this one was outstanding. I only wish they sold it in cans so I could have taken some home! The food itself was decent--definitely not Texas-level barbecue, but for Montrose, it's what you'd expect. We ordered 90 plates with the intention of having leftovers (74 mouths fed), but there were none. When our coordinator reached out, Tyler (the owner) explained that he always brings extra food so guests can have seconds. That didn't quite add up--why would a caterer bring extra food beyond what was paid for? It left us wondering whether the portions were simply miscalculated. Another issue was the food temperature. The small burners used during setup weren't effective at all. We were among the first to eat, and our food was already cold. I can only imagine how it was for guests at the later tables. One of the biggest disappointments was the trailer. We had a lot of family traveling in from Texas and were thrilled about the idea of Tyler's trailer, which has a big Texas graphic on the side. We mentioned this during our initial meeting and were quoted for 80 plates. Later, when we increased to 90 and asked about the trailer again, Tyler told us he doesn't bring it for larger catering events. That was a real letdown--not just aesthetically, but practically. We suspect the food would've stayed much warmer had the trailer been used instead of the burner setup. The servers are all very friendly and attentive. The buffet also offers made to order pancakes and omelettes. The executive chef specializes as a pastry chef and his talent shows! His cinnamon roll has the perfectly sweet crispy glaze at the bottom and is super fluffy inside. The bacon has the perfect crisp with a sweet maple flavor without sacrificing the crunchy texture and it all melts in your mouth perfectly. I loved it so much that I had to go back for seconds. I can say the same for the country potatoes, although in the catering serving trays, it maintained its crispy outside texture while still fluffy inside and seasoned to perfection. You can pay an extra $10 for the carving station which has prime rib. The view is breathtaking and I would definitely recommend checking this place out!
