We arrived on a Monday in the early afternoon. The restaurant was not busy and this is perhaps why.....we were greeted satisfactorily and seated quickly. We sat for quite a while and when the server approached our table it was after she greeted and took the order of folks that had come in well after we had. We placed our order and waited and waited and waited. Mind you the restaurant was not busy at all. I was on the verge of suggesting to my wife that we leave when our food arrived. This was very disappointing! The only item on my plate that was actually hot was the fried okra. All the other items were cold! Not warm, cold like they'd been sitting under the air vent waiting. My wife's plate was worse as her French fries were limp and cold. I had a 1/4 chicken,breastfeeding and wing, it was so dried out i couldn't even cut it let alone eat it. The server was apologetic and offered to replace the food but I had already waited too long. She left and returned to inform us that the manager had compt our meals. Now, you know, I couldn't come to Fort Myers without stopping at Rib City! We placed a to go order for cheese fries. It was about a 15 minute wait and the staff was nice over the phone. The cheese fries are so good and cheesy and I love that they use pepper jack cheese in addition to the other cheeses to give it that nice flavorful kick. Hands-down, the best spicy ranch I've ever had! I NEED the recipe for that spicy ranch. It is so flavorful and one cup just isn't enough! My husband ordered a rack of ribs. He got the smallest rack of ribs ever. He tried to order another half a rack for the addition price of the rack and a half meal for five more dollars. Just ordered from Uber it was horrible, I ordered the St Louis ribs and they were dry and looked like they had been sitting under a light to keep them warm for the last year. Decent enough BBQ joint. First visit to this location and it was good. Server did a nice job by quickly taking our drink order and serving them, apps came out quickly, and our meals were soon to follow. For apps our table shared their cheese fries and also an order of their corn fritters and they were super good. Well timed meal. Really good service. BBQ was good as well. I had their lunch ribs and they were tasty. I tried their Mac & Cheese and coleslaw and while I did like the coleslaw - I didn't much care for the Mac & cheese. We've been going through this Rib City location for many years. It Was always very reliable for excellent food. Kind of feel like they've been slipping. The sliced pork used to be very soft, fluffy amazing on garlic toast. Ribs were always on point Recently We got a large order with several items for a birthday and the ribs for just very very dry. I ordered the rib dinner and I have never seen such a small rack of ribs. The service was good and I mentioned to our server. She talked to the manager and she told me there was nothing she could do. The ribs are very tender and fall off the bone. They are a bit dry like they've been cooking a long time. The sauce is good and helps to add flavor. The fries are coated and are okay, just not my favorite. Garlic bread was very good. There were four in our party, three had ribs and one had the shredded pork sandwich which was good. I haven't been to Rib City since moving out of the Lee County area almost 10 years ago. When visiting my mom this past weekend, we decided to get a to-go order so we could enjoy it at her place. The staff was friendly but that doesn't make up for the lack in food quality. My mom and I both ordered the Tony special, full rack of ribs with another meat and two sides. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich with two sides. You could tell the ribs couldn't be too fresh as they were pretty burnt from throwing on the grill to reheat. The baked beans didn't appear to be cooked fully as they were firm. The side of mac and cheese was less than expected but the flavor was ok. I can see that by not visiting Rib City for ten years I didn't get the gradual decline in quality, rather a blunt taste of reality instead. You'd be better off driving around Fort Myers to find a guy selling smoked ribs on the side of the round than getting the burnt stuff from Rib City read more

I am looking for a new BBQ restaurant for babyback ribs. The place we usually go, on N. Tamiami Trl/Business 41/Fowler, had tough ribs last time, so we are trying new places we have never gone before. By comparison, Rib City is more expensive, has smaller racks of ribs (though they ARE tender and fall off the bone, as well as juicy), the cole slaw is excellent, the Texas garlic toast is excellent, the beans are NOT nearly as good, the fries were different but equally good as our old place. The sweet sugar-based sauce is ok, but not as good. Still, if everything else had been as good as the old place, we would switch. Also, they had NO brisket and we were there by 11:15 for lunch. Anyway, not happening. Too many BBQ restaurants in Ft. Myers/No. Ft. Myers from which to choose. Still searching and will keep y'all posted! read more

This is my first time to review, as well as to have BBQ here in North Fort Myers, FL. I just had a really long day traveling from TN, with a 3 hour drive, two flights, and a taxi to the hotel. The next thing that I was ready to do was eat. I was told to go to Rib City was good and was within walking distance from the hotel. I walk in from the rain, and instantly I was met with a hostess desk with 3-4 girls who were scrambling around the place. Can you guess who started the conversation? I did. I said "Hi, table for one." Upon a few more moments of thinking and scrambling around, I was given a table. I was slightly upset that there was no welcome party for my arrival. Sure, I'm not expecting balloons, fireworks, nor glitz and glam, but a simple hello would do. I sat, and was told who my server was. I look at the menu, and was asked by my server what I would like to drink. Did they ask me how I was doing? Yes, they did, but they did not follow-up, leaving me hanging and still uncomfortable. After a few minutes to look through the menu, I was asked if I was ready and placed my order. As I sit and wait, I quickly receive my salad, and I go to town. I see BBQ sauces sitting right next to me. Each bottle different, a tall one, a yellow-capped one, and a plain clear plastic one shorter than the tall one. I wasn't told what they were, and I was trying to put excitement into my day, and into my ranch, so I made a BBQ ranch sauce after testing each one out. A few minutes into my salad, I receive my pulled-pork sammy with fries. And as my server gave me my meal, she then asked... "Do you know about our sauces?" I quickly said that I did. Little does she know that I tested them myself, and overheard her serving someone else about the differences between all of them. Food was great. I enjoyed the meal. But for $11 for a salad, fries and pulled pork sandwich, I still was not satisfied. I guess coming from Las Vegas and eating delicious BBQ there, $11 dollars will go a long way for even tastier food, and a welcoming environment. I guess I would have rather had a BBQ sandwich from Arby's for cheaper and a smile. Suggestions: A warm welcome, a server willing to help me feel welcomed, explanation of sauces at the beginning of the meal, and a "thank you for coming!" I feel like the front-of-house staff should go into a Japanese sushi restaurant and see how they welcome and thank all of their guests.
