Came into the Rib Room for dinner last night. The restaurant was pretty empty but had an elegant decor and the service was great. The food was a mixed bag. My wife had the French Onion Soup, and liked it. I had the Caesar salad and it had to have been one of the worst I have ever had. I am not a fan when they served it on lettuce you need to cut and didn't like the small croutons. The dressing was non existent. We also ordered a bone on ribeye and that had some nice flavor and was big enough for me and my wife to split. The bearnaise sauce made it better. Also ordered the potatoes which were okay. For desert we had the bananas foster bread pudding which was okay but wouldn't get again. While the food was okay it wasn't worth the high price tag. Don't think we would come back. read more

We had the best dinner on June 18 at Rib Room on our trip to New Orleans!! I have food allergies of dairy, soy, and corn, and our original dinner plan got thrown off. We walked into the Rib Room just hoping they could possible cook something for me, and they crushed it! Our server (his name I sadly can't remember) and a gentlemen who seemed to be the manager, were on top of it and proactive about assuring me my food was being prepared safely. They even apologized for the wait (which was not long at all) and said they just wanted to make sure it was safely prepared. I will gladly wait longer if it's due to making sure my food is safe!! After we finished, Oscar, the host, brought us to the COOLEST little jazz club in the Omni hotel! He literally stopped us to ask if we wanted to go listen to the last few minutes of it before we left! We came to the Rib Room while visiting the French Quarter and were genuinely excited to try it. Unfortunately, the experience was a complete failure from a service standpoint. We ordered a petit filet, a grand filet, a bowl of French onion soup, and a side of mushrooms for the steaks. I also ordered their Royal Old Fashioned, and we started with the fried green tomatoes. To be fair, the fried green tomatoes were very good, and the bread service was excellent. The gentleman bringing the bread kept us supplied, and we went through two full loaves of French bread while waiting. The problem is that the waiting never ended. More than an hour passed and our food never arrived. During that time we watched tables seated after us receive their meals, eat them, and leave while we were still sitting there with empty drinks and no food. Our server rarely checked in, and when we finally asked what was happening, the answer was simply that she didn't know. She said she kept checking with the kitchen and was repeatedly told the food was coming. It never did. To make matters worse, no manager ever came by our table. Not once. No one checked on us, no one apologized, and no one attempted to resolve the situation. For a restaurant with this reputation, the complete absence of management during such an obvious service failure is unacceptable. Let's be clear about the complexity of the order: a petit filet, a grand filet, a bowl of French onion soup, and a side of mushrooms. That's it. Yet somehow that proved too much for this kitchen to deliver in over an hour. After finally giving up, we left and walked over to Brennan's. The difference was immediate and dramatic. We were welcomed, the service was attentive, and the filet mignons there were absolutely perfect. It's hard to understand how a restaurant with the Rib Room's history can allow this level of service breakdown to happen without even the courtesy of a manager acknowledging it. The Rib Room is easily one of the best spots in New Orleans for a great steak. The steak was cooked perfectly, and they have an excellent wine selection to go with it. Their COOLinary menu right now is definitely worth checking out, especially if you want to experience the restaurant at a great value. And the Banana Foster cookie butter ice cream sandwich? DIVINE. Seriously, save room for dessert. Great food, wine, and atmosphere. Definitely a New Orleans favorite! read more

The room service menu for the Omni hotel was for The Rib Room, and I ordered in the morning by hotel operator. It arrived in about 40 minutes The prime rib hash was delicious, the beef was so tender and flavorful and the veggies were cooked perfectly. The creamy grits shocked me. Blitzens Holiday Pop Up not typical rib room material here: We noticed the gorgeous holiday décor the night before from our balcony table at Royal House Oyster Bar and decided to pop in before our Mr. B's Bistro reservation on Thanksgiving Day around 5pm for a quick Christmas happy hour treat. We lucked out and snagged the last two seats at what turned out to be Blitzen's Christmas pop up bar! The host was incredibly kind and proactive, she even asked a gentleman if he was using a nearby stool so we could sit. You don't always see that level of care for bar guests, and she did the same for the couple after us, which really impressed us. Charlotte was our server, and she was fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly proud of the festive menu. She handed us the elaborate Blitzen drink list, and she made what my boyfriend said was the best Old Fashioned he has ever had, they called it The Blitzen. My drink was beautiful, and even our waters came with Christmas straws, which I loved. Next time, I think I'll go for the Va Va Vixen instead of the Sleigh Ride, but everything was wonderfully themed. We actually tried to return after dinner, but they had already wrapped up last call before 10pm. Still, our first visit was such a fun and cozy holiday surprise. Came here December 26, 2025. Everything from start to finish about our experience was outstanding! The convenience of booking our reservation online made planning our evening seamless! My fiancé and I came here after enjoying the Christmas lights in City Park, and although we arrived earlier than our reservation time (8:30), they were able to seat us right away. The lighting and ambiance was very nice, and our servers were attentive and friendly. We both ordered the prime rib, pomme puree and creamed spinach, and every dish was phenomenal! The Prime rib had a delicious, flavorful crust that was cooked to perfection, the au jus and horseradish paired perfectly with it! The potatoes and spinach were also wonderful. After we closed out our bill, we headed over to their cocktail bar and enjoyed their Christmas themed menu, and our drinks were strong and delicious! Our bartenders were amazing too! I have been in hospitality industry for too long worked with some high end restaurants and hotels. Went on friday 12th around 9:15 as a walkin it was my friends birthday and he was hungry and he does eat steak got greated by Hostess and they even sang happy birthday for my friend and that was very impressive and i thought we are having a very good start. Got sat and greeted by a lady waiter and i asked her about the menu revillion if they have any vegetarian choice she said no and did not have enough knowledge about menu as she was reading the menu infront of us. I asked her if i can order a la carte vegetarian any appetizer+ soup/salad+ maincourse she was lost and tells me which i have never heard in my life waitress said to me" IF YOU ARE VEGETARIAN I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU TO COME TO RIB ROOM" me and my friend was shocked that she just said that. I ignored and we ordered two cocktails my friend ordered turtle soup and i ordered fried green tomato as a veg appetizer it came out on time but served with pork belly when it arrived the waitress said " i'm sorry i forgot to tell you that it comes with meat" sent back came out later after my friend finished his turtle soup and came out plain no sauce nothing, worst fried green tomato ever had as i am from here and i had it in many place. She din't even bother to check with kitchen if they can make any sauted veggies or any entree while i can see they have side pasta, veg and cream spinach and for me money is never a issue i can even pay $50 if any restaurant can make any maincourse for me. My friend ordered NY STRIP and i ordered broccolini and side truffle mac and cheese. Food was amazing i liked the sides my friend enjoyed the steak but it does not come with any sides. . At 10:15 i asked for dessert menu she said "we do not have much to offer on dessert we only have cheese cake and kitchen is close anyways" while i can see other tables are getting all fancy dessert and i have seen dessert menu online too before i came. Our experience was horrible and my friend was upset too he felt bad for me that i couldn't eat anything i always order 4 round of drinks with my app, salad/soup, mains and dessert but decided not to order anything from here anymore as it clearly shows waitress don't care about her job neither the sales of the restaurant. We returned to see what was new at the Rib Room. We sat at the bar, and after taking a quick glance at the appetizers, I immediately decided on the fried oyster deviled eggs and a glass of chardonnay to go along with it. I understand that I can get pretty excited over food, but I cannot stop thinking about these deviled eggs. The cajun fried oysters had the perfect crunch with a tender center, neatly packed on top of the deviled eggs with pickled peppers. A nice surprise was the band playing near the bar. The gentleman on the upright double bass goes by Sugar Bear! Eric Robinson was on the electric and acoustic guitar. All of their instruments were beautifully crafted. I am sorry that I didn't get the drummer's name. Rib Room is located on the main level of Omni Royal. As a guest of Omni, you will benefit from free drink tickets to use at Rib Room which is nice. We have yet to dine in for an entree and unsure why not, especially since the menu has yet to disappoint. Next time. read more

The bartender was terse (ponytail and within a lightening bolt finger tattoo), pulled the menu from us and couldn't be bothered. We ordered and sat there like we had the plague, she was really awful. We left our drinks full and we went somewhere else. Tried to order something else but had to overhear her complaining about customers..bad vibes all around. When my husband tried to order a Chocolate drink she said "no, we're not doing that." Any person with customer service training could have said I'm sorry, but we're not able to provide that due to being out of chocolate this evening, but she chose to be obstinate and rude. The ambiance was nice and the live jazz trio was great! They came to our tables for an impromptu sing-a-long! 5-stars! The food was not worth the price point nor parking. I ordered a white Russian drink but was brought a glass of vodka and milk! I googled the recipe to show the waiter & he asked if I wanted the bartender to try again. I declined & ordered a hurricane. We occupied 2 tables. One table received food and had finished eating before the 2nd table was even served. Noone snapped pics of food to post, which is very telling. I'd recommend this place for simple drinks/appetizers at the bar to listen to the band if you're walking around the area or staying at the hotel. read more

From the time that we walked in the service was superior. The hostess remembered us from when we walked by to look at the menu earlier in the day. The staff was very attentive and kept the drinks and water filled and checked in on us regularly. The food... amazing... the had fresh bread warm and so soft and we settled on a Caesar salad prime rib end cut, loaded baked potato and the garlic broccoli. The food was mediocre and absolutely not worth the price point. The ribs were practically raw, and they were mostly fat. The broccolini was also undercooked, and the seasoning on it wasn't very interesting. My girlfriend and I tried four different cocktails, and they were all mediocre. The service wasn't great either. I asked the waitress what cocktail she recommended, and she told me to get the mango martini. I tried it, and it was off in a way that I can't quite describe, like it was made from under-ripe fruit. Later, she asked me what I thought about the martini, and I told her that I didn't like it but couldn't really explain why. She just looked at me dejected. My girlfriend followed by saying that she liked her drink, and she walked away without saying another word. It was bizarre. I've never had an experience like that in a restaurant. We spent over $200 on a meal for two people, and the only item we liked was the fried oyster. There are countless restaurants within a few blocks of this one that are both cheaper AND have better food. read more

Our waiter was fantastic and the food was very good too. And I love the space, tableware, etc. but two complaints: why only have white wine glasses? Seriously - my house red came in a glass that wasn't much wider than a flute and that's all they had (the waiter actually apologized that that was true). And there were only two reds by the glass - a beaujolais and a red blend. I did enjoy them (the first with appetizers and the second with prime rib) but at the price point some attention to the wine would be appropriate. read more

Same winery - Prisoner - however a red blend, not a Cabernet and while it is not a bad wine, it's half the price and not what you'd ordered from menu. Menu clearly stated what I ordered and the waitress argued with me that it was Prisoner. Clearly she knew little about wine. Wouldn't acquiesce either. Bait and switch with somebody who doesn't know their wine but not with me. What else is not what they sell it to be? Shameful! read more

My wife and I went for restaurant week. The food was amazing. She had the Deviled eggs and I had the octopus for appetizers. For entrees, she went with the new your strip and I had the quail. For dessert we both had the most amazing cheesecake I've ever had. The ambiance is fantastic and the drinks are good. The service was definitely lacking though. The server gave us our menus and asked if we had any questions. Like, that was it. He didn't talk about specials or tell us about it at all. If I'm going to spend over $200 for dinner for two, tell me why you think your food is worth it! Food was better than I expected, but I expected much better service. Ordered a crab cake with hollaindase and eggs for $28. Crab cake was alright but tasted a little gritty and missing something. Eggs were good and potatoes were great. The Rib Room is located inside the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel and they serve some great food here with their specialty being steaks! I've eaten many meals here over the years with some of those including larger groups. I've really enjoyed nearly all of my meals here with the exception of the one time I decided to sample their cheeseburger which just didn't measure up to my other experiences of really AMAZING food here. It wasn't a bad burger it just wasn't up to the level I expect the Rib Room's food to be at and it just lacked the juicy delicious flavor I expect from New Orleans burgers. All of the other meals I've eaten here have been quite exceptionally enjoyable. The ambiance here is fantastic and there is a LOT of amazing history to discover here. I've always had fantastic service here and the total experience 99% of the time has always been amazing. Overall this is certainly one of the best places in the city to enjoy for the ambiance and food while it doesn't seem to be on the radar of many tourists unless they happen to be staying at the Omni Royal Orleans. read more

After 3 days of fantastic but very fried foods we were in desperate search for a delicious salad in the French Quarter (harder than it sounds). Rib room delivered. Rib Room? More like RIPPED OFF Room. You know what, I was warned by the scathing reviews on Yelp. But my friends and I were desperate. We were trapped in a rare, historic, unprecedented snowstorm (shoutout to snowstorm Enzo) and were just thrilled that this establishment was open for business when most others weren't. Well jokes on us because this was probably the most comically depressing meal of my entire life. After reading how poor the steak reviews were, I thought, "Well I'll order the salmon. It's almost impossible to mess up salmon." Well color me confused because when I bit into my salmon, I questioned whether I was in a French steak house or a Japanese Izakaya, because why was my salmon (after what felt like over 40 minutes) raw? I have never returned a meal to the kitchen until this very experience, and when the waitress came to my table to see my sad, underdone, amateurly-plated meal (at a three dollar sign establishment), she asked me, "How would you like your fish prepared then?" Cooked? Maybe baked on 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes? (To be fair, I have no complaints on the customer service. It's those funny people in the kitchen I take issue with. Who are you guys. Where did you guys come from. Probably not Le Cordon Bleu. Is everything ok.) My friends who ordered the steak were also afflicted. I didn't order their dish, but when my introverted and historically zen friend took a bite out of her meat, she paused and said, "This feels like someone just learned how to cook for the first time." So the moral of the story is to not come to this restaurant. I recount this moment as so terrible that it's become a RIB-tickling story to look back on. But if there's no life-threatening storm, stay away from the Rib Room because it will feel like you're walking into one. read more

The French onion soup is the only thing edible here. Everything is obviously frozen, even the soup probably was... but it's somehow more overpriced than food in LA. In no WORLD is it worth the price AT ALL. Do not, eat, here. If you're looking at this while at the restaurant, get up and walk out. Upper management has apparently changed the entire menu / conflicting creative choices. Fish was bland, crab cake frozen, salmon was LITERALLY RAW (not slightly pink or even pink in the middle, just.. raw, all the way through). We avoided the prime rib from all the other bad reviews, and the waitress hinted that we avoid it. There's no world this food is worth the price. Also thanks for handing me bread in a literal bag? First off we had a limited menu because it was Christmas eve, but they didn't communicate with us at all that this was the case and if it was we wouldn't have chosen to eat here. The fried oyster devil eggs was great probably the best thing that we had. The soup was alright and then they added this white wine and it ruined it completely. The salad was garbage mine didn't even come with dressing, the lettuce was soggy and croutons over seasoned and difficult to chew. The prime rib was excellent very simple not much to be said the sides were god awful. Mashed potatoes felt like warm and have been sitting out for a while. The bread pudding wasn't even moist just was like a dry cake. How do you not make a bread pudding moist I truly do not know. To cap it all off we didn't want the bread pudding, but they ran out of cake. How do you run out of cake when you had a selected menu and reservations. Failed to prepare it was very embarrassing. What a disappointment after such a good first impression when you walk in it's a very nice ambience and decorated well. Lighting and vibe is very old timey.
