I've been traveling to Nola for over 5 years and there are so many good spots, it's rare to find a new place to add to the Top 5 list. Reopening of Bon Ton - PHENOMENAL. We had a reservation for 7 at 7 [and even though we didn't get seated until half 7 - this doesn't take away from the overall experience - sometimes the table before you just runs long]. We grabbed a drink at the bar while waiting. Ordered a glass of champagne - but the only bubbly by the glass they offered was non-alcoholic [which I thought was a bit strange]. Martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives - YUM. seems like they stuff their own olives. Seated in a cozy booth for 7 and there was a welcome card for my client since we were celebrating his bday too. Tiffany was our server and she was hospitable, offered great recommendations and was a good sport all night - super funny and really took care of us. I cannot say enough that EVERYTHING on the menu was sublime. - Seafood tower - MUST order - comes up with baked oysters [and normally I like them fresh, but the crust on top was sooo good. Very rich with all the butter, but memorable], - this mini cup of seafood bisque - DELISH with a 'lil surprise at the bottom, - Crab - big chunks of fresh crab meat - Giant shrimp - Crab cakes - giant chunks of crab meat - Cajun bacon - nice meaty bacon - Wedge salad - dressing was not as heavy as a typical wedge which was tasty - King Cut - we ordered 2 for the table and was perfect - Corn casserole - sweet crusty top - Brussel sprouts - Crawfish Mac and cheese Finished with the lemon meringue pie (SOOOOO good) and the very rich and buttery butter cake.. I made a reservation on Christmas Eve for my husbands birthday here. I received several phone calls to confirm and also several texts to confirm. But of course when we arrived we had to stand outside 40 minutes past our reservation time waiting to be seated. They must have overbooked because they had at least 5-6 parties waiting who had reservations which is ridiculous. I also included in my reservation that I was celebrating a birthday but when I ordered dessert they brought no candle and then asked after they cut it if we were celebrating something. It's one of those experiences you don't forget. I was sad when it closed but excited when I heard about this new concept. It's been open a little while now and I had heard great things. For my last birthday, I finally made the trip. Hell yes is all I can say. It was amazing. The ambiance is modern and fancy. Lots of people watching opportunities including the locally and nationally famous. You'll see everyone from politicians to randos who grew up in Algiers. Ambiance is great but doesn't overcome poor food. Luckily, the food here is even better than the ambiance. It's high end, expensive, and a wonderful experience. The prime rib is excellent as are all of the family style sides. For dessert we had some table side sundae that was decedent and a performance that everyone around watched. This is what a real steakhouse should be. The service is excellent, our server knew all menu items without having to look at notes. The place is "classy", and the food is very good. We had the Cajun bacon and the Bon Ton Oysters. Both of these were incredible. For mains, we ordered the Cajun Steak (ribeye) and the New York Strip and asked for Cajun seasoning on this as well. The steaks were cooked exactly how we ordered it... my only issue is that the seasoning is very salty which made the steak, not so enjoyable. For sides we ordered the onion rings and the Rib Roast Lyonniase. The onion rings are some of the best, crispiest I ever had, the Lyonnaise dish, is a chopped potato dish with beef fat and beef trimmings.... This was not that great and did not justify the price. People had to adjust for carts to get by. Waiters butts right on shoulders getting to other tables. Don't see the point of the cart because it does not add any flare to the service. Booth setup not conducive to proper service. Wait staff has to reach over people to drop plates. Even with long arm reach. Still can be unpleasant. Seating schedule needs adjustments. Whole parties do not have to arrive before being seated. So one person at a booth for 30+ minutes, not ordering apps nor entrees with a line of people waiting. Small space. Noise carries. Guest allowed to be unruly and loud. People stumble out the doors. Overconsumption reviews. Tiffany E was a great server though and honestly I can tell she's a good coworker. She was pleasant. I didn't think I would find a restaurant in New Orleans that I didn't like! But, I am sad to say, I did. This place is average at best. The food is ok, nothing spectacular. But, the real turn off is how they rush you through dinner. We were not even done with our appetizers and they were taking them away to bring the main course. We had a reservation for a large group of 12 and showed up on time. We weren't seated for 28 minutes past our reservation, and the most frustrating part was management didn't seem to care other than to tell us they're working on our table when we asked. No apologetic/welcoming drink for being sat a half an hour late. No manager coming up to apologize. I understand things happen, sometimes groups stay longer, but the lack of acknowledgment and accountability was something I've never seen in fine dining. There were several other large groups and the restaurant was clearly not equipped to handle it. Our first order of drinks took 15 minutes to arrive. Luckily we had a later reservation or this service would've continued the entire meal. The food is solid, but I can't recommend you bring anyone, especially a large group, here when there's literally an unlimited amount of good restaurants that will provide much better service. read more

I feel like this place needs to come with a cardiologist's warning, because it is so rich and salty. That said, it was delicious! The Barbecue Shrimp was probably the best I've ever had, a good amount of heat and when paired with the salty-sweet Cajun Bacon it was even more incredible. I came here on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Our party was 20 people to celebrate a birthday for our dear friend. I got here a little early & I sat at the bar. The bartender Adam recommended their old fashioned made with fat wash. I like my drinks strong & this drink didn't disappoint. It was smooth, strong & tasted good. I savored every sip. When all the guest arrived we were split into 2 tables side by side. The waitress Tiffany came out & she was so delightful! I ordered a bottle of Cabernet wine. The bread came out but I wasn't crazy about it. It was cold. We told the waitress about it & she brought us a warm bread. My wine came out & I tasted it, & I liked it.....Than I ordered my entree, Cajun Steak ( medium well) with crawfish Mac & cheese. My food came out & it was delicious. The steak was juicy & flavorful. No steak sauce was needed. The Mac & cheese was good & the portion was great for the price. The pairing of everything together was great! At the next table one of the waiters spilled hot coffee on my friend & she happened to be wearing white. They apologized & they gave her a gift card to visit them again. The bread & this situation caused them to lose a star with me. I left pleased & so did my BF who was the birthday person. Dinner for 2 people was 2 steaks, 2 sides, 1 bottle of wine, 2 cocktails for the birthday boy totaled $200 not including the tip.... We had an incredible evening at Bon Ton Prime Rib. The food was divine! I ordered the lobster with baked potato and couldn't finish it all. Hubby ordered ribeye and the flavor was out of this world. Our server told us he was fairly new but he was very attentive. While he did need some help with the lobster he did a wonderful job taking care of all our needs and very friendly.
