I went to Bon Ton Prime Rib for my birthday Saturday 8/29 with a party of 13, and unfortunately, the experience was a mix of good and bad. The good: The food was really good! Everything we ordered was delicious, and honestly, the food is the main reason I would consider giving Bon Ton another try. I also want to give credit to the host who greeted us. She was extremely friendly, professional, and genuinely tried her best to accommodate my party. The bad: The issue was management. I had a party of 13, and I understood that the restaurant could only seat 10 people at one table. I was told the other 3 guests would be seated at a separate table, and I was completely okay with that arrangement. However, Travis, the front manager, canceled the reservation for my 3 additional guests, so they were never seated. The host was trying her best to help us, but Travis was not very accommodating and made the situation much more difficult than it needed to be. I also asked to speak with a manager because I wanted to understand what happened with the table for my 3 guests. Tre was told that I wanted to speak with him, but he didn't come over when he finished with the table behind me. Instead, he went into the kitchen, came back out, and spoke with my friend instead of me. When he eventually spoke with me, I asked if he was the manager, and he told me no. He also gave me a different name. What makes this even more disappointing is that I wasn't approaching him to complain. I simply wanted to ask about the seating situation and find a solution for my guests. The interaction with management was unnecessary and took away from what should have been a special birthday dinner. I will say again that the food was good enough that I am willing to give Bon Ton another try. Hopefully, next time the service and management experience will match the quality of the food. Went here for our anniversary and it didn't disappoint, even though it started out poorly. Had a 8:45 reservation but had to wait for a half an hour before being seated. Once seated, it became apparent why this place is so packed. Firstly, our server Savannah set a standard that all servers from now will be compared to. But you come here for the prime rib and as an expert on the subject, this may rank right up there with Keens and 4 Charles for the best in the country. However, they do take walk-ins. We started at the bar until our table was ready. Great bar service in spite of the crowd. Our server greeted us at the table and was well versed on the menu and made the best recommendations. Everything came out fresh and hot!! We started with the Bon Ton Oysters and BBQ shrimp. The oysters were large, covered in crabmeat. So delicious. The shrimp were a nice size and the sauce was perfect, savory & buttery!!! Best I've had in a long time as a native to the area. We tried the Shellfish Bisque, plated at the table. It was creamy, not too rich, and full of seafood. We then decided on the King Cut Prime Rib and the Bon Ton Cajun Steak with Onion Rings, Charred Brussels Sprouts and Crawfish Mac n Cheese. In preparation for The King Cut Prime, little iron ramikens filled with Au Jus were individually set to warm up for the prime rib. Great table presentation!! The Cajun Steak was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The onion rings were large, cooked golden and crispy. The Brussels sprouts had a nice flavor, but only if you like Charred. It wasn't overbearing though. That Crawfish Mac and cheese was hot, creamy and full of crawfish. All were more than enough for the table to share. I made a reservation on Christmas Eve for my husbands birthday here. I received several phone calls to confirm and also several texts to confirm. But of course when we arrived we had to stand outside 40 minutes past our reservation time waiting to be seated. They must have overbooked because they had at least 5-6 parties waiting who had reservations which is ridiculous. I also included in my reservation that I was celebrating a birthday but when I ordered dessert they brought no candle and then asked after they cut it if we were celebrating something. We had the Cajun bacon and the Bon Ton Oysters. Both of these were incredible. For mains, we ordered the Cajun Steak (ribeye) and the New York Strip and asked for Cajun seasoning on this as well. The steaks were cooked exactly how we ordered it... my only issue is that the seasoning is very salty which made the steak, not so enjoyable. For sides we ordered the onion rings and the Rib Roast Lyonniase. Whole parties do not have to arrive before being seated. So one person at a booth for 30+ minutes, not ordering apps nor entrees with a line of people waiting. Small space. Noise carries. The Caesar Salad was a little rough- it was basically dredged in paremsan which made the salty cheese about the only thing you could really taste. The Prime Rib was MASSIVE- it said 12 ounces, but looked like 5 pounds of meat. It was excellent, and the fresh horseradish was great on it. Along with the gigantic Loaded Baked Potato and the Grilled Broccoli, it was a meal that left me feeling like someone needed to wheel me out in a cart. Extremely heavy, salty and decadent. Additionally, our server, Trae, was wonderful. Patient and attentive, despite it being a packed Saturday night. At the next table one of the waiters spilled hot coffee on my friend & she happened to be wearing white. They apologized & they gave her a gift card to visit them again. The bread & this situation caused them to lose a star with me. I left pleased & so did my BF who was the birthday person.
