My family orders the small family feast deal about 3-4 times a month. The food is always great and always consistent. It's a great value, it feeds 4 and there's always leftovers. So far, my family has tried 5 different main dishes off of the menu and all were very good. If I could change one thing, I wish the cost to upgrade certain menu items was a little less. This place is my go-to Chinese spot. They NEVER disappoint and the food is always delicious & consistent. Another thing I love is the fried rice. It's actually GOOD fried rice, not that weird yellow stuff. They're never stingy on the portions, and have fantastic customer service. My most recent delivery said it was going to take 70 minutes, which I understood since it was around dinner time for everyone (and a Sunday), but it only took, literally, 20 minutes from the time I ordered it to get to my apartment. Unfortunately, Rice Box (which is relatively close enough for pick-up) is a Meh. Why? well the order despite being read back was filled incorrectly. My Spring Rolls became blah tasting egg rolls, the yellow curry I wanted was not there, my wife's order also lacked brown sauce she ordered. I ordered spicy which was all located in one section of the bowl. For $8.95 the "bowl" quantity was really more of a child's portion. My wife's bowl was 80% rice, virtually no vegetables and four tiny rubbery shrimp. Verdict; If you're ravenously hungry and can do with industrial grade Chinese food then the Rice Box will met your expectation. I have ordered from this business for a long time now. They have never disappointed me with any of my selections. Their customer service is amazing and the gentleman who takes the orders is extremely polite and very helpful. For some reason, I had never ordered their peanut curry until a couple nights ago. I have to say it was the best peanut curry I've ever had in my life. I ordered it with the shrimp and they were large and cooked perfectly. Terrible service. We made a delivery order 2 hours before closing time & were called 15 minutes before the restaurant closing to be notified that the driver didn't deliver to our area. Before ordering, we found our zip code listed under serviceable areas & located our neighborhood in the $2.99 area. The lady that took our order vehemently denied being able to service our area. When we refuted what she was claiming vs what was advertised in their website, she said they didn't service our neighborhood specifically. Their driver didn't like our neighborhood. Will NOT be back ever again. Ordered chicken and broccoli which looked so unappealing. I opened the takeout box which there was no sauce, container was practically halfway filled with water. I ordered two spring rolls that I ate before I even opened my meal and they were just ok. I was a bit turned off halfway through the 2nd one because there were chunks on black spongy things which I have no idea what that could have been. My lunch was pricey and I knew that I wasn't even going to try to eat it I decided to go back inside and ask for a refund. The older lady at the counter was down right rude! She actually started to yell at me, "I don't understand you!" As she called the owner I'm suspecting to hold out the phone so I could listen to him scold me. Telling me that I should not order food that I don't like because it's a waste of food, THANKS! He did refund the price of the meal minus the tax two days later. read more

Not only did i stumble across a Chinese takeout restaurant but one with a twist to their menu as well. Once i saw that curry was available I immediately picked up the phone! The order taker took time to answer questions about a couple of dishes I had interest in, the delivery time was estimated at 45-60 mins on a Friday night, but showed up a little beforehand. Plenty of extra sauces were included although not all used. Food was delicious and spicy just how I ordered. I wish this was a restaurant rather than carry out. The food prepared here should be eaten immediately. Even driving a short distance diminishes the quality that this little storefront works so successfully to achieve. The egg rolls are large, generous and delicious. Just driving past makes us want to stop in to get an order! We moved to The Meadows last year but we have lived in Sarasota for 13 years. The carry out Asian food that is served here is the best we have tasted anywhere in Sarasota. And I'm covering an area from Clark Rd to University! All the ingredients are fresh. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. I've read some of the complaints and I have to say I think they are bogus. The family members who own and operate this place are so friendly and accommodating that I don't believe the reviews are legitimate. If you have a craving for flavorful, fresh, made to order and delicious Asian carry out- and live near Honore and Fruitville then you need to try Rice Box. BTW, they have summer hours so call to make sure they are open if you plan to just drop in to appease your cravings. read more

We order a lot from here,choosing the order online option and we are always told that it will take 45 min for us to get the food. planning ahead and ordering 45 to an hour in advance of when we will be hungry/ want to eat always pays of but honestly it has never taken that long, 20 minutes is the average time we have experienced so far to receive our food. Love it. Twice ordered for pickup. Both times we were very happy. I think the trick is you want this type of food fresh off the pan. Because one time we ordered delivery it was ok. Terrible. The worst Chinese food I've had in Sarasota. Spicy tofu combo was not spicy, sauce was overly sweet and watery. Tofu was completely flavorless. To make matters worse it seemed like I also may have gotten over charged. The combo with no rice and extra vegetables cost me 14.42 at lunch. Combo was supposed to include an egg roll, but that was extra on the bill. When I asked if that was correct, they made some excuse and said that's how it is. I normally don't leave bad reviews very often but this place was simply gross... I could have eaten 10x better food from Pings around the corner for $6.75 with better portions. I have been ordering from this establishment for myself and my family for about 8 years on a regular basis. They prepare delicious food and customer service far exceeds any competitor. They maintain detailed records that greatly aid in the ordering process. It doesn't matter what I order, they know my family's preferences through whatever database they use. "There are mushrooms in that dish, sir. Would you like us to leave them out for you?" Or my favorite recent response just tonight: "I see that was a little too spicy for you last time, would you like us to make that milder and add a side of the spicy sauce?" Great and fresh tasting food! The veggi fried rice was amazing, probably the best fried rice I have ever had. I ordered the chicken and broccoli and was very surprised by how crisp and fresh the broccoli was. It was a little on the plain side as far as taste goes but I liked that it did feel as if I was eating a lot of excess salt and grease. I will definitely be going here again! read more
