My only regret for ordering from here tonight is that I'm fuller than a tick on a hound dog in Texas in Autumn. I feel like napping at 8pm in anticipation of being awake for a movie later. I live in a nursing home nearby, but was still impressed with how quickly they brought my meal, and it was hotter than anything I've had here. The food was very good, and I'll be able to get about 3 meals from it. I ordered Chicken Fried Rice and Pad Thai, and each was at least as good as any that I've ever had. My mother doesn't like the "smell" in the eat-in area, but I can't smell it. And certainly for deliver it does factor into things at all. I'll definitely order from here again. read more

Stopped here on NYE for some food before heading out. This place is reallyyyy tiny. My husband and I shared the chicken lo mein, with a side of 2 egg rolls & 4 crab wontons. The price was nearly $20 (not including drinks, we just had waters). Overpiced for fast Chinese food. Portions were huge, as most Chinese places are. Lo mein was a little too saucy, but we were happy with it. Despite the food being fine the service was TERRIBLE. We did get our food quickly, but the workers were so rude! It got to the point where it was laughable how impolite they were. When we walked in, they were all sitting down watching TV and acted as if it was such a burden to have to take our food order. When the lady brought the food, she simply shoved it to us and didn't say a word. She rolled her eyes at us without a word when we asked for To go boxes. Not sure if they were mad about having to work NYE or what. You would think they would be happy they actually had some customers since we were the only ones eating there! Wow! Okay, on only my second visit it was even better. I was so happy to see they were busy, inside. They deserve it. We didn't realize it at first, but it was lunch time and our orders were a little smaller, but in no way were they skimpy. I ordered my dish with no peppers, no carrots, and extra cabbage. My husband special ordered, also. I thought for sure one of them would come out with a mistake, cuz at other places they rarely get it correct, But, they were PERFECT. Again, the dishes were out before we finished getting our drinks from the fountain. I'm telling you, they are fast...fast...fast. Even on a busy day, they are amazingly fast. There is no need to order ahead at Rice Express. Eat it there and enjoy your steaming hot food as fresh as it can come. The General To's Chicken is my husband's favorite everywhere we go, but the Rice Express has the best. The sauce was darker and full of chives and flavor. Go and try your favorite dish, then try something new, eitherway they will become your go to oriental food favorite. Can not wait to get there again. Good food. Like most Chinese restaurants you get plenty of food. However, like many restaurants, they think the extra wide hallways by the handicap restrooms are designed for storage and not ease of access for wheelchair bound people. read more

Food is great but the servive and prices are idiotic at best. Lucy the owner is cool but god help you if your orders wrong cause they DO NOT care nor will they correct it exspecially togo or delivery. Ive ordered the same thing since day one and i swear the price has jumped $5 for the same 2 items lunch or dinner. Unfortunately I'm having to update my ranking on this. We've had several experiences with Rice Express lately where incorrect items were delivered and they were reluctant or unwilling to correct the order. Also have had a fair amount of stuff show up either over or undercooked. Not sure if this is due to an increase in demand (they're the only Chinese restaurant in the area without going to Greenville or Rockwall), or if there was a change in their staff. read more

I would give this restaurant a 4.5 if I could-- it was pretty darn good. We were a little wary of trying a new Chinese place, but were quite surprised with the subtle flavors and quality of the food. The orange chicken was probably one of the best I've had, the pork and seafood was fresh and not the cheap cuts you usually get. They were happy to deliver to us in Rockwall, prices were reasonable. Tonight was the last straw. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken with only carrots and zucchini for vegetables. Sounds simple, right? Well, when you don't have people in the kitchen that understand English, it's not. I drove back to the store to get them to remake it. They redid it wrong again. The owner lady was very rude and acted like I was the bad person here. She insisted on remaking it again and I got upset at them at wasting more food as I had just asked for a refund. First time I ordered, and let me tell you, I completely regret only buying 1 egg roll. With Chinese places, egg rolls are a shot in the dark, you can never tell if they're gonna be good or horrible. The one egg roll I was smart enough to order was divine! I'm also generally not a big rice fan, but the fried rice was good even after I ate my main dish. Though the seafood mix itself was average. Worst customer service ever and inedible food!!! We ordered delivery and when the MANAGER delivered the order she explained the egg drop soup had broken due to dropping the bag. She apologized and said she was helping deliver food and rushing due to the surplus of orders. I tipped her generously and told her not to worry about the egg drop soup; just to find all the food dumped out into the bag swimming in egg drop soup and two pints of sauce "on the side". The food was inedible. So, I called and was told I would receive a call back once, she returned to the store. As you can imagine, this didn't happen. When I finally was able to speak to someone I was accosted for "not having enough light in front" and was offered a free egg drop soup for next time. We have a large security light that goes off anytime anyone is within a foot of the house/driveway and the conventional front porch light. I asked to be refunded for the meal due to the condition it arrived in and was yelled at and evaded. Needless to say, we will not be ordering from them again... read more

This isn't my favorite place, but the Lo Mein is good. We typically order delivery and have not had a problem, but when you go inside, they seem to always be angry and you should know what you want when you go inside and hurry and leave. Customer service is not good. read more

Ordered food got to the restaurant to pick it up paid for my order waited for ten minutes and apparently , it had been given to someone else and they were bringing it back, the gentleman returned with my order fifteen minutes later you would think they would offer a discount, or re make my order.
